Stock Nook Color running TeamB CW7 from SD card. It seems its infected with the android.oldboot virus. I figured I would make a new sd card and move the books over. After screwing around for a day trying to make a new card with 2 different cards, both scandisk, one gb8 and one18gb I realized they were both class 2 cards which was why they wouldn't work (rookie mistake) Its been over 2 years since I made the original which hasn't given me a problem until now.
So I saved the books from the infected sd card but it wont let me reload or reformat it. I tried several different card format programs but they keep saying its write protected. There is no lock on it or the card reader. Tried different readers too.
Im getting a new card because they are so cheap now but I am just stubborn and want to win this battle.
Could this Trojan be whats locking me out of this card? Any work around?
thanks.

The Nook Color (model BNVR200) comes only as 8gb. Nook Tablet (model BNT250) has 8gb or 16gb. You have a Nook Tablet. Go to the Nook Tablet forum. The ROMs are not interchangeable.

Thanks for the clarification, I wasn't aware of the difference. It is a BNT250.

Just got a NC a few weeks ago cause my wife wanted an ereader and I figured this would be a good opportunity to try an android device!
I would like to load CM7 as from my reading that appears the best rom for the NC. I have also read that running from SD cards provides mixed results regarding performance, so I was thinking I should load it to the emmc.
So my questions are
Can I load CM7 and still use the BN ereader app? My wife might kill me if she can't read her books! If so can someone point me to an android newb friendly guide?
If I cannot use the app what do you recommend I do? Is the kindle app any good compared to the BN native app?
Simply using the Nook app from the Android Marketplace will be the easiest way to get ereader functionality back.
Though keep in mind the Android Nook app is absolutely not the same experience as the NC is with the stock firmware. The Nook app will let you read ebooks from your B&N account, but the interface and capability is completely different.

The Nook app from Market is not the same, your wife will not be able to read her magazine subscriptions and it's also missing some other stuff like Children's books.
IMHO, if you want to mess around and "try an android device" but at the same time avoid a scenario of "wife might kill me if she can't read her books!", or even worse, wife kills you because you wiped the Nook, then go get verygreen's installer and put CM7 on an SD card.
So long as you install onto a compatible SD card, you will get similar performance as to eMMC. No "mixed results" here, I guarantee you that you won't even be able to tell the difference.
You can mess around all you want, try out the stables and nightlys, overclock to your heart's content, fill it up with apps, browse and dl all the pr0n you can find, and when your wife wants to use the Nook, just take out the card and she'll have a completely stock Nook.
I'm in the same situation. Bought the wife a NC for mother's day, and want to expand the capability, but maintain the stock functionality. Kid's books are a must to keep around, one of the reasons I bought it in the first place.
What I'm looking at is using the manual nooter http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054027 to root and add gapps. This should maintain the stock reader functionality and open the device up to more apps, and to do things like youtube etc.
So far this seems like the best way to open things up a bit, and give the device some additional functionality without completely changing the experience or losing some functionality. While *I'd* like to go in and install CM7 or one of the 3.0 ROMs, it's her toy, not mine so I need to keep things as close to stock as possible.
Can anyone confirm this approach is going to get me where I want to be, or refute it? Is there something I might be missing which would end up wiping any points I gained for the gift?
I'm in the same boat. Any one have an opinion on deeperblues hc on sd? I'm probably one of the few that's not a fan of cm7. I just want to keep stock NC, with the option of a tablet experience.

I used Deeper-Blue's version of HC 2 days after i got my NC. I've been using it for roughly 2 months now. I didn't like the Nook app since it was first released last year i was unable to sync from my LG Ally so i couldn't use it on my PC as well, so i went with the Kindle App.
I switched over to MadCat's update Saturday and outside of a few quirks i like it a lot. It runs the latest version of the Kindle app as well.

if you have a 8 gb micro sd card you can back up the whole stock rom and ut would run just like anything else on your sd card.
Nice choice since some of us like the magazine supprt that only the bn rom has.
Right now im dual booting rooted stock 1.2 and CM7 Nightly's on eMMC
works great and I love not having to switch out SD cards and being able to access the contents of the SD on both OS's.
I recently bought a xoom, the system is already 3.1, but when I inserted the 16GB SD card to the Xoom, it does not recognize. I can not find SD card files on my Xoom, why?

I think you need to do some reading about your tablet here before you do anything beyond checking your email and playing some Angry Birds....but lets cut to the chase, shall we?
For the SD card to work you are going to need to UNLOCK, ROOT and install a custom KERNEL on your Xoom. The Sd card will not work right out of the box, not even in 3.1.
Now search in this forum for the three words in bold, you should find more than enough information to set you right.
Just remember that if you Unlock you loose everything on the xoom. I wipes the internal storage.
I think by the time MOTO gives us the needed update for the SD card to work, a 32GB card will cost $1.32 and we will all be in a nursing home!

Don't know what you are complaining about. This is a unique feature that only the Motorola XOOM has. It's an SD card holder, built directly into your XOOM, that allows you to carry one extra SD card along with you for use in your ACER Iconia tablet.

Edit: I will be in your city in two weeks... I hope to make my way back home with a new shiny tablet (I still don't know if it will be a Xoom, a Transformer, and Iconia, or god knows what).

So I cut the edges off my SD card to make it mini, and then i kind of shoved it into the micro HDMI output. Why am I not getting video output on my SD card?
(Before you say it, I know ALL about rooting. I rooted for my xoom (rah rah rah! goooooo xoom!) and then unlocked the front door, so I think I'm totally jailbroken now).
I used the following files to set it up, but a HUGE amount of delay to execute commands, timeouts, force closes...etc. I'm using a class 4 Kingston card. Would this be fixed by buying a class 10 to do this with? Just thought I'd ask before I buy anything. Thanks guys.
Here's what I used:
win32diskimager-RELEASE-0.3-r27-binary.zip
update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-encore-signed.zip
generic-sdcard-v1.3.img.gz
gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip
Jusme01,
I believe this question should belong to the Nook Color forum.
Thank you, my mistake.
Boo!
I thought someone got CM7 working on the Nook Touch
Double boo! But CM7 is more Nook color-like...
OK, so first off I wanted to say that I love how dedicated this forum is, and as a new(er) person to all this it has helped a lot. The biggest thing is, I bought a triple-boot 32gb class 4 SD card from a company and it has the cm7 kang build on it, and an ICS build on it. I'm always having problems with it freezing and having problems with it getting market errors, everything else is flawless, (happens on both roms except nook stock rom). Also I put movies on their using a nook color handbrake option and it hangs alot, so do many other applications. I have had support from the company I bought it from on ebay, but I just want something more stable, able to play n64 roms at 100% and able to pair a sixaxis controller. I have tried various overclocking options, none of them seeming to effect the fact that it will freeze with almost five minutes of decent usage. Any help would be great thanks xda nookers!
Also: ICS is preferred simply because I have it on my SGS II on t mobile and would like it on here as well. But whatever is most stable works for me!
Sounds like you have a slow SD card, which is sad because it's 32GB . A SanDisk class 4 is best for booting off of, better explained here. But other than the SD card, I like using CM 7.2 from my SD, though I'm also fairly new to the Nook Color.

How would I go about that and are their any workarounds? What sd card would you suggest so I can get the most of making this a full-fledged tablet with high speeds and overclocking etc. Sorry for the bump post, have been very busy thanks!

I would not necessarily blame the SD. Who knows what those scalpers put on that SD. They ripped off something. Go to racks' triple boot and redownload his image (which is free, by the way) and start over.

If you re-burn racks' image there is no need to format first. But it would not hurt anything to go ahead and do it.

Hey this works great, no lag at all non-stop speed freakin sweet thanks! Whoever can close this thread now.:good:
Hey all, I bought a rooted/CM modded Nook Color and honestly wasn't digging the performance so I decided to sell it. In a very stupid fashion I went and did a factory reset of my personal info through the normal means inside of Android, not considering the implications.
For an hour now I've been stuck on a screen with the angry looking blue dude with the arrow around him and "Cyanogenmod" beneath that in white text. The arrow is moving and stopping intermittently.
Should I hard boot somehow? Should I pull the SD card and let it boot into normal nook mode? Should I let it sit and do its thing? I'd like to get it back to where it was with Android on so it'll be more salable.
Edit: powered down and powered up; went into Android just fine. Only problem is that it did not actually reset to factory settings and is still logged in as me. How can I clear it for safe sale?

Without the SD card in it boots into straight Nook OS.
I just want to reset Andriod OS to a state that I can safely sell the device in.

All of your personal data should be on the SD, so just remove and sell it without the SD. Be sure to erase and deregister the stock OS so that it is released from the B&N servers so the next person can register it.
