In searching the forums, I see that some actually need the upgrade assistant. I myself find it tedious. That is, I find the fact that whenever I connect my Note 3 to my PC, Autoplay for the Verizon upgrade assistant appears 1st (and rather slowly at that...), then (finally) the phone autoplay.
What is the purpose of the VUA? If it might be helpful one day, I don't want to eliminate it, but I'd like to prevent autoplay from opening to VUA rather than the phone.
Android 4.3, rooted.
No one knows how to get rid of the verizon UA autoplay?

I want to be able to sideload apps.
I want to be able to "tether" without the tether data plan, so I can occasionally use the Laptop Dock without spending $20/month.
I want to be able to load my apps from Google, which I think means using a different "ROM" and loosing MotoBlur, but tell me if I wrong.
I'm a long time smartphone user who's used a few different ROM changing apps. Willing to put in the time after the "rooting" I did yesterday didn't seem to do everything I hoped. Got pretty frustrated when I could only webtop in the laptop dock.
1. att should be releasing the ability to side load apps soon. they are allowing it on the samsung infuse. until then:
go to android central and search for sideload wonder machine. thing works flawlessly.
2. Im new to the tethering part here but from what i understand there are two types. sorry
3. currently there are no ROMS yet, there are pseudo ROMs available: greyblur, gingerblur. im using greyblur and the guy did some awesome work on it. both allow sideloading all day, as well as hdmi mirroring and webtopdock hack.
good luck
You can still use Google apps and Google Market surely? Otherwise it wouldn't be a proper android phone!
I can use the Market, but obviously if you normally install 30+ apps, it's awesome when you boot up a phone, sign in with your Google account, and all your backed up apps and data just show up on the new device. I did this with my Motorola Milestone and Xoom every time I'd update the OS, etc... and it works FLAWLESSLY, not to mention saves a LOT of time trying to remember all the apps you loaded.
The Webtop hack worries me, simply because I wonder if that isn't what is preventing my Laptop Dock from seeing my phone. I used Gladroot updating my phone to 1.57, and root works fine. But when I put the phone in the laptop dock, it wants to do Multimedia or nothing... and the dock doesn't "just work" like it did at the store. And I didn't think Gladroot did anything with the HDMI connect, so I wasn't expecting any issues because of it.
I think for this morning, I WILL just wipe it, removing root, etc. Update to the latest firmware again, and setup with the default options for now. Then I can at least see if the Laptop Dock works at all, using that different APN to try tethering without the $45/month plan, and I guess I'll go from there.
Once I have the Amazon Store loaded with that sideload program, I won't need that feature very often anyway.
I didnt see a thread for welcomes..
Hi! i just picked up a sprint lg g2 on a free upgrade but i do not plan on activating it yet since 4g is not currently in my area, so for now i want to use this and just a fun phone for around the house. so i have a few questions after checking out some of the stickys and i dont want to start multiple threads for single questions. if this gets moved to a different area then i understand why as well. also if my typing seems sporadic its because i am coming from a htc tp2 and this is my devirgin process on using androids and rooting. so welcome to my party of self discovery!
1)since i am not activating it can i still pull all the necessary updates for the phone itself off the wifi?
2)in this sticky http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2479892 i saw no mention of a sprint code. i dont know if i should root it yet because i am currently using a htc touchpro2 im sure the stock speed is going to blow my mind but should i still do that ^^^^ mentioned above?
3)when i got the phone the lady really tried to push the S4 on me saying that the g2 will be stuck on jellybean for 2years? does rooting fix that?
4)when i do decide to activate it, is hotspot easily achieved by an app or is their some kind of rooting that needs to be done? (i already have unlimited data plan)
5)the BB csr also mentioned titanium backup app. and i checked it out and i dont understand how it works. thts for the bloatware stuff right?
6)is it possible to get that flappybird game still? i want to play it see what the fuss is about like on youtube.
i would rather not root my phone if it will stay fast but i dont want all that clutter apps either if its like a new desktop computer that comes with free aol 3.0 and etc.

Click to collapse
1) yup
2) I personally dont adjust that simply cause the phone then feels to hot for my liking even though its safe. You can do it and if you dont notice a difference or its to hot for you, just change it back. I think the code for sprint and verizon version is 980? so... 3845#*980#
3)You can root and flash aosp (android open source project) to your phone but you may find that you like the stock software. Also kitkat will be out for our phone shortly
4) You can use a program called foxfi that you can use that will turn your phone into a hotspot and sprint wont be the wiser so you dont have to pay for tethering. Also you dont need root for foxfi.
Just play around with the stock setup and see if you like it, you may not even find the need to root. Also if you enable developer options by going to settings<about phone<software information, and click the "build number" like 6 times (the developer options menu will then be in settings<developer options), you can adjust the window animation/transition animation/animator duration to 0.5 or off to speed up the phones interface.
thanks for the fast replies!
i am trying to update prl/profile/firmware/software etc and it gives me an error. my wifi is connected and i turned off airplane mode for the updates. (i should keep airplane mode on correct so that it doesnt try to activate?)
The dialer code for sprint is 5689#*980#
The prl/profile will only update on an active phone. You have to do it manually if the phone isn't active. That said, you don't need to do it if the phone isn't active, because they are settings sent by Sprint to your phone to let it know about active cell towers and things like that.
Check the Sprint part of these forums. Most of the stuff you asked is in there in one place for another.
Side note, so you don't wonder what is going on. In the title of threads, you will see things like [kernel][rom] etc etc.. things between brackets.. The things that say [INT] stand for International. They are ports made to make the Sprint LG G2 work on GSM networks. If you install one of those rom's the phone will NOT work on Sprint. Right now, that would be no big deal for you, since the phone isn't active. But if/when you activate the phone, you can not use one of those roms and still use the phone as a phone.
should i still update my phone via the LG drivrs at least? also that dialer code does nothing with my phone. it doesnt activate the special menu. so far i havent found it but is their a list of must have apps or a list of minimal steps to get rid of the bloat without rooting? when i am in the settings>>apps menu their is a list of different google' labeled items, are all of those necessary? also someone mentioned foxfi, its only a paid app correct?
I'm getting an LG G Watch (btw, that's a seriously terrible name, its not too google-able) in a few days. Unfortunately my first major use for this watch will be whilst travelling out of country. So, here is my question:
What can Android Wear do offline? It will always be connected to my phone, but my phone will *Not* be connected to the internet most of the time. What about voice recognition? I know on my phone no matter what i do, offline I can only get it to accept the "call..." intent not even stuff like "open app" which doesn't need internet anyway.
Hello! My model # is SM-G935V running Android 6.0.1 on VZW. Security patch is July 1st, 2016
For a while now, I've had issues with internet connectivity. I'll be connected to a wifi network or mobile data with a very strong connection and I'll get the Google blurb at the bottom of the screen saying "no internet connection".
In addition to this, Facebook (running the latest version of the app) often gives me a "can't connect right now" in the same case, and this happens often.
Now lately, when I say "OK Google" and ask it a question, it also says I'm offline.
In addition to this, (Not sure if unrelated or not) Spotify often doesn't play the next song without me going back to the app or pressing pause/play. I'm running the latest edition of everything.
This is very frustrating and I feel like I can hardly use my phone to the best of its ability.
Thanks!
sometimes I have the same problem, I think it´s problem from my brand, I´ll go there today to see what´s going on with there signal if they are the problem...
Do You use any build.prop tweaks? I used to and had same problems. If You don't then maybe try to backup Your data and reflash a stock rom with odin from sammobile. Oh. And every time You flash a new rom through odin, to make sure that it will do a clean flash, factory reset Your device and then flash it. This way it will be clean.
Hello xdc community. I appologize if anything is already posted about this, but I’m new to XDC and can’t find wtf I’m looking for. I recently got a brand new, never used Galaxy Tab 4 (SM-T537V) from my brother-in-law, and wanted to set it up for my kids to use. I used the kingroot app already to root it, but can’t find a viable solution to rewrite the OS and remove and of the Verizon junk from it. Is this possible? If not, what’s the recommended options to install the newest android OS it can handle? It won’t update (before or after kingroot) and it won’t install apps, just keeps downlaing instead of installing. I have fiber interwebs and a decent WiFi setup, so I know it’s not an internet problem. I have been out of the game for about 10 years, so I’m really rusty when it comes to software reloads and stuff like that.
Thanks for all/any help!!
