Discussion: Xposed Framework & Mods

Not sure who all has seen this, but you can now fully modify your stock rom to almost anything you'd like. Per app DPI, no ascending ringer, themeing...unlimited possiblities. I wanted to create a thead for us to discuss settings and features and leave the original thread open for dev discussion.

I have per app dpi working on messenger, gmail, and email at 220. For some reason I can't get tablet mode to work but I'm sure that will be fixed soon. Post any comments or questions here.

Works on any rom that I've seen. I'm using it on odex 4.1.2 DLL4

Here is a link to multi-window enable all apps. I have tested and it works great on odex DLL4. Another mod we've been looking for on stock roms!

In my humble opinion Xposed Framework is the best thing that has been done for the community since the old Rom Kitchen website for the first Galaxy S.
But for some strange reason it's not getting the attention it deserves from chefs and devs

The xposed framework should work on any touchwizz based rom

I agree entirely...
The problem is that there is a difficulty level step to overcome. Once you learn how to use this though, you find it's much better than other methods.
The best thing to do right now is to encourage devs to submit their modifications into the repository linked there. This is because the files should work for future ROM versions too, but if the developer updates their patch, it's nice to get notified about the update.
I want to push this much harder in the new year as the new way to modify your phone...

I'd love to have a "no sms in call log" modification

Hmm, I never considered this but this looks cool. I've two questions though, I've read the topic of Pulsur word by word, and I guess it doesn't mess up with any system files right (sorry I didn't get all the technical words)? I am a stock forever user and I like it that way. Secondly, to use it, I just need to download the apk of Xposed framework and install it, then I need to download the mod and install it, right?

Here exact steps
Download Xposed framwork apk and install
open Xposed installer application from drawer and select install/update
Reastart
Download required tweak apk like call record,lomg SMS multiwindow watever you like from available and install all required apks
now you will see notification in notification bar regarding activation, tap it and enable all tweak you have install and needed
Restart
Done.

Okay, I'm not on my PC but I don't understand where are the apk's? In that Github all I see are zip files! Confusing!

i really love this feature but it's limiting my choice only to MoKee OS and thinkingbridge rom.. i want have a flashable zip.. if it's possoble

well.. someone told me this rom has it.. then i installed it.. but didn't find anything!!! he said it's in "display" but i didn't see anything..

in display, is only brightness setting and etc.. i can't see "listview" option.. why yours is different?!!

You know it's funny how people have different preferences. I tried it for about 15 mins and although it looked nice. It just didn't jive well with stuff. Like Facebook. I had to scroll a little slower because I couldn't see what the posts were till the animation was done. And it just didn't fit in certain places. I wish I could turn it on just on specific apps. That would be nice.

beanstalk has it....(tried it on the htc one x i own)
its the first rom that i ever saw having something like that searched for this kinda thing before after i saw nexplayer and now playing doing a nice animated scrolling..
trying to find a way of getting this into other roms aswell.
right now im jumping between roms.(just tried my first sense custom rom)

dont use the anticipated... interpolation thingy it delays the animations.
on the rom i tried it was fast and didnt take time for the content to show...

Dear members (who had the same aim as me of having those animations)
I've found something that you might wanna try.
**DO A NANDROID BACKUP FIRST**
To get listview and transition animation from android 4.3 (Nexus 7) follow the following steps:
1) Download Xposed Installer apk from here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
2) Install the apk
3) Launch app: select Framework > Install/Update > Soft reboot or Reboot (both works just the same)
4) After reboot, download XuiMod apk from here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.zst.xposed.xuimod
5) Install the apk
6) Again, launch Xposed Installer app: select Modules > (click on the small box on the left of XuiMod if its not checked with a 'tick' )
7) Then click on XuiMod ( the area beside the checkbox )
OR
Just simply launch XuiMod app
8) ???
9) Profit.

[MOD] Skip music tracks with Volume buttons (KRT16M/Stock ROM deodexed)

Hi guys,
new phone, new mods, here we go:
In the attachment you'll find the modded android.policy.jar for flashing to skip music tracks with long press Volume buttons while screen is off/in your pocket.
IMPORTANT: Your system has to be deodexed, otherwise you'll end in a bootloop!
Flash the zip in your recovery and enjoy!

Updated the OP with a flashable zip for your recovery (CWM/TWRP).

Why has no one tried this yet so I can know if it's legit or not? Lol how about a volume boost mod??

Because it's for deodex rom haha. I tried doing the deodex/odex converted but it keeps failing. I really want this mod as well. I miss it.

I tried, because I made the mod
It's working like a charm.
Either you flash the stock deodexed ROMs here in the forum, or you deodex yourself with xUltimate, it is just simple.
You don't even need to do a factory reset after deodexing, so no worry.
To clarify: deodexed apk's work on all ROMs, deodexed or odexed. Look into your system apps, some are odexed, some deodexed, no problem.
If you change anything in the jar-files of the framework, you can't mix up odex and deodex, so you have to decide.
Most theming and modding is done in the framework and it is by far easier to do this in deodexed files.

Quick question..
When you enable ART, the phone reboots and you see the apps are being "optimized". Takes a pretty long time. Any relation to deodexed Roms? I mean, would this app work or would a separate deodexed ROM still have to be installed? Thanks.

Is this mod work only with Google music? Because every time I'm using Pandora with mod its automatically played Google music.

The mod sends a media broadcast. Every app that supports this will respond. It seems that Pandora doesn't support such broadcasts - or, it supports it but Google Music is the first app to respond, you can check this with freezing Google Music. What happens then?

I think it only happens that way if google music is still active in memory. It used to happen to me occasionally, and if I went in and force stopped gmusic, it started working correctly.

Well, ok.
Unfortunately that's nothing I can influence by myself as it depends on all apps which are able to receive a media broadcast. Your behaviour will most likely happen too if you use a cable or bluetooth headset for changing music tracks, have you tried that?

Yes, because the Power Reboot Menu is done in android.policy.jar too
Two options: Decide which mod you like most, or wait for someone who puts those two mods together.

Here's a flashable deodexed version of the volume skip + extended reboot menu.

Odex version
Using a guide I found elsewhere on the forum, I have re-odexed this mod. Just place these files in your /system/framework/ (you might need to remount the partition to do this) and reboot. I have tested this on my Nexus 5 and my friend's Nexus 5 both rooted but still using stock rom. Please let me know if this worked for you!

Warning!! DON'T USE IT WITH ART ENABLED!! I have to re-install everything because of this mod

[4.4+]google kk dialer

NOTE- IF IT NOT WORKS FOR YOU OR GIVE FC... DO CLEAN INSTALL FROM SCRATCH OF ROM. that's roms problem due to dirty flash
NO THEMES SUPPORT........ AS IT WAS MEANT FOR GOOGLE LAUNCHER ONLY, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOME THEME DON'T SUPPORT IT......(eg. mianogen)..
(thanks to @Sulaimanshariff for testing like hell for like 2 days and reflashing roms like 3times again just to find that bug was themes )
Of all the announced new features of the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4/KitKat, one of the cooler ones was a new dialer colloquially known as the "KitKat dialer." It features a revamped UI and includes the ability to search for businesses, contacts, etc. right from inside the dialer. It also features Internet-based caller ID.
due to closed source app by google, this dialer was limited only to nexus devices/Google experience editions!!!
which means simply that dialer in our custom roms isn't exactly the dialer Google offers in nexus, and nor it has internet based caller id feature....
so here i am sharing an extracted apk direct from a nexus 5 running 4.4.2!
i am providing a flashable.zip which can be easily flashed in custom recovery!
it got no bugs, no flaws
only limitations is-
1. u cant uninstall the existing dialer, unless u think calling is not important in ur phone
2.if u want to launch this by google voice recognition(ok google), and if you say open dialer, it will open the dialer which is preloaded i ROM as per integration is made......( but it doesn't bother me as i don't open phone app from Google voice thingy!!!
NOTE(IMPORTANT)-
1. 4.4+ roms only
2. after flashing , it won't start automatically ...there will be two dialers in app drawer, open new app(you can recognise it coz it will have written "search contacts & nearby places" in search bar (in old dialer "type a name or phone number " is written)..
after opening, go in settings!
go in caller id by google and switch it 'ON'
similarly go in nearby places setting and switch it on (NOTE: you have to switch on location sharing in settings to google)
it will work...........flash, follow steps, and ENJOY!!!!

i am using it!
(no idea abt app ops module, as i am not using it! try disabling it once and then flash and try! though it aint related , but i dont find any single reason why it aint working
PS: parth too aint using app ops....)
regarding dpi... i have changed my dpi from 200,210,220,240, 182,160,190, 2500 too infact!!
please try if u can disable app ops module!

Okay so from d starting here's wt i did last night
1)tried this wid default dpi as its making a lil issues for users for example the proximity sensor delay so thot something must be thr evn for google dialer!
2)then uninstaller xposed and tried agn d same thing!
3)then agn as i was using nova 2.3 prime beta i thought it won't work as in like the 'okay google' command doesn't work on other launchers but even this dint work
Ultimately had to freeze the default dialer and flashed this and VOILA it worked buh lne thing wasn't able to make calls this is happening for a lot of friends including @jetvis37 and others can u pls find out wts wrng??? :what:

donno mahn..but many guys are successful to install and many saying not :/..that's mixed report...as anindya also had it working...
though i would suggest one more thing..i m not pretty sure this was it..but when i installed this dialer, i intended to Change my phone model in build prop to n7000...n my phone workd..bt after two to three reboots it gave up and evrythng started force stopping...
moreover...
its better mahn that u clean install from scratch ....i donno delta updates can cause such bugs or not...as i olwys prefer whole update.....(agree with xenon's thing ).... sorry mahn

CRAP FLASHED THE WHOLE ROM AGAIN JUSH FOR THIS AND ULTIMATELY THE CULPRIT IS THE THEME,,,CUSTOM THEMES MAKE IT CRASH!!! no matter any theme for aosp roms cm 11,10.2,10.1 all makes the dialer crash h cn try out

i tried but it is working with htc elegent theme :-|..and i dont do mch thrming so i got no idea..bt parth also said its FC's..... so lemme update op...seems like as it was closed source and was meant only n only for google launcher (by default in nexus)..it is possible that's the reason that file replacements due to themes causing FC's as it is only for Google launcher thingy!! ..sorty guys...aill try smthn out..

Themer beta problem

Hey guyss,
Im having problems to get themer beta working on my lg2
when i want to get into the themer browser Its says, (themer is not detacting a supported screen dimension or resolution) ,
Phone is rooted and im using Pardus hd rom classic 4.2.2

Make sure DPI is set at 480. It won't work otherwise.

does that rom support to hide the navbar or change dpi because with aeonflex for it to work people would hide the navbar and it would work while with other roms people change dpi and it would work

hmm i dont know about that, but i only know that the dpi is realy 480. i dont know how i should hide the navbar

i just flashed flex 1.5 and i found the nav bar hide option and themer beta is working now.
i actualy realy loved the paradus hd rom because of the black playstore theme and black youtube theme, is there a way for me to get that working on flex 1.5 guyz ?

i think you need some inverted playstore/youtube apk's that's usually one way people get them blacked out

aaah i see, thnx for the clear explaination.
gonna try it out now

i just flashed the playstore inverted zip file. but now the playstore doesnt work, each time i try to open it says it stoped working but i can see that background is black.
furthermore the other inverted apps like gmail and youtube are apk version and installing them doesnt work, after clicking the install button it says imidiatly (application not installed)
i thought that this should work out pretty good -_- pitty

you have to manually push them in to system/app(or folder they were in originally) and give them the r-w-r-r(0644) permisions
p.s. gonna look into playstore issue(found something here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369167&page=2 it's flashable through recovery I havn;t actually tried it)

bro i installed the Inverted Multi DPI Play Store 4.4.21 zip file, this time i was able to open the app but it says there is no connection.
and i hope i am not asking too mutch, could you please guid me step by step with what you mean with (]you have to manually push them in to system/app(or folder they were in originally) and give them the r-w-r-r(0644) permisions)

As long as you are rooted use an app like root explorer from playstore and you go to system then app and make sure you copy the app you want to replace to a safe place and put the new one in(the new one probably won't have an index so delete it from the system/app) and put permissions
edit: here is a video that explains how to push an app remember to make a copy of the app you are going to replace

I installed the black youtube apk and the black gmail apk they'r working, but how should i install the black playstore ? i know its an zip file and that it needs to be flashed trough recovery, but you know i did that yesterday and i was not able to get a connection although i was able to start the app.
Im realy close to get what i want with your help ^^ please help me out a lill bit.
