I know the s4 had it. Does the s5?
Thanks.

Yes it does. But I think that not all apps can be moved.

that's exactly how it was on the s4...the app developer has to design the app that way
good to know its still there though! Thanks
Yeah! There are some apps that can't be move to SD cards but that works the same as S4.
Yeah, it's an issue with Android itself, not the device. The 4.4 KitKat update is what implemented the changes for microSD cards, unfortunately.

When I open some apps, it only cover little over half the screen. Below are some screenshots of the apps with 480x720 res issue I was referring to. Doesn't have any problem when I was on 2.2.2 though.
Edit : SOLVED

Spare parts from the market I believe there is a check mark for compatibility mod or something
It's ironic because Spare Parts runs at half resolution itself.

i also have this issue.. but never cared to bother about it.. spare parts and some other 2-3 apps have this unusual resolution

Thanks! It worked

Welcome bro, always glad to help
I love you man
Hope devs will somehow saw this thread and update it in their roms
it nice bro
Hi,
For "roms" you could just include spare parts. If not, you need to write an app that sets Settings.System.COMPATIBILITY_MODE to 0.
Cheers!

What would this do in terms of stability? It would make sense that unchecking compatibility mode would break something.

Hi,
You would hope that none of the included system apps or bundled bloat would need compatibility mode. And older apps in the market that might need it probably aren't worth keeping.
Cheers!
Everything seems to be working just fine though
Is this the best new feature in ICS:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/112413860260589530492/posts/DDTKFhiDS9U?hl=en
Disabling Apps
ICS adds the ability to disable an app outright. Don't like an app that came preinstalled? Disable it! Its resources never run and its launcher icon is gone until you re-enable it. (This doesn't free up any space -- it can't, since pre-installed apps are included in the read-only system storage. But it does put them "out of sight, out of mind.")
Wonders if this will work in TW too, or if Samsung somehow disables this feature as Android is open source?
If only there were some other ICS threads in the Samsung Galaxy II area of the forums where this kind of stuff might already be!
Instead of speculating about whether an as yet unreleased feature works for your phone, why not just root and freeze/uninstall apps you don't want?
You're free to skip reading the thread... ;-)
No, I won't root yet, therefore I hope this feature will survive to our phones. And, what are the chances for that?
Is this feature available in the betas out now?

It is not recommended to disable some of the apps as it might cause your phone to freeze and not updating on the fly.

Google Ears is supposed to be a jelly bean feature, yet i dont see the widget available on my nexus 10? Anyone else have the same problem? or am i missing something here?
The widget is not called Google Ears, it's called Sound Search.
I am aware of that but still don't have it

You can add it as a widget on the lock screen.

Do you have Google music installed? I think you need that to get Sound Search.

Yes i have it installed
What's your region, and are you on stock ROM?
I'm in the US, and I have the Sound Search widget on both Stock and a custom AOSP ROM, and can add it to either lockscreen or homescreen.
If you're rooted install titanium backup. If you go into apps, you need to unfreeze it.
I am from the UK and i havent got a custom rom yet. havent got round to rooting.
I have modified Google Ears for unsupported countries..
thread of it is in Galaxy Nexus themes and apps section!
I suppose everyone heard about fstrim utility from unix OS-es being incorporated in Android 4.3. Appearantly, it optimises how operating system is using flash memory and that reduces lagg that is being accumulated over time of usage.
My question is, has anyone tried LagFix app from Play Store? Does it help for our device?

/system and /data works, /cache doesn't.
I think it does help performance a bit.

Don't expect miracles from it, but it indeed helps a bit.
I'm running the same build of CM-10-20121220 for some time now, trying new ROM's but I always go back to this from recovery after few days. I don't know is it placebo or what but phone indeed seems little snappier than before.
Thanks

best thing to do is clear all recent apps by pressing home key and clearing each one away to free ram.no apps needed as thay will use ram them selfs.I do this and i dont get lag.
using hellybean 4.2.2 on nexus s.
Hi guys I recently flashed to JanJans GE 4.3 ROM, everything works beautifully except I have no "Move to SD Card" button in my AppManager now.
I don't think this is an issue with the ROM itself, so just curious if anyone has any ideas?

That's a Samsung specific feature. As you're not using a TouchWiz based rom, it follows that you will be lacking certain features.

Google dropped support for it, so it's no longer a core Android feature. Samsung implemented their own version of it in a recent formate update, but it's gimped in that it moves only the apk and leaves the app's data on the internal memory
