LTE/WCDMA/GSM setting restricts mobile data - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. Im running Kitkat 4.4.2 Goldeneye rom. NBE modem. I am encountering a problem with my mobile data. Whenever I choose LTE/WCDMA/GSM I get a brief connection to H or LTE but after a few minutes (random) it goes away and doesnt return after ticking on/off.
My temporary fix is just using the WCDMA only option. Anyone encountered this problem? Would provide more info if needed. Thanks in adv for your help.

Hi Guys
so i'm currently running:
baseband i9505XXUBMF4
and i ger LTE and data reception with foxhound rom ..
however with some roms i loose my data connection ... i get cell and wifi but no data...
I tried the 4G LTE switch it app. and nothing ...
so what baseband should i be flashing with ?
how should i do it ?
please help

I think the foxhound rom isn't compatible for that... try flashing your stock rom maybe it will return the connections....
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda app-developers app
Or extract the modem file from stock firmware
Similiar Issue
Here's some steps I went through to investigate this issue. Don't get your hopes up, I don't have a solution.
You can use service mode to lock the phone to LTE and get a better view of what's going on.
Dial *#0011# to get you into service mode. Then you want to go up a menu (there's a bug here). Hit menu>back (nothing will happen), then menu>keyinput then type 1 and hit ok. Select option [1]>[6]>[2] from here you can lock to LTE by hitting [4]>[2] (Telstra run LTE on Band 3 = 1800MHz). Reboot for good measure.
Exit and Dial *#0011#. If your phone works, you're now looking at some low level LTE RF stats. I have 2 GS4's which are showing me strong coverage. If you phone is like my third GS4, it'll say No Service.
I can lock that dodgy one to GSM or WCDMA with no issue.
So, off I go to flash the modem to within an inch of it's life...

[Q] NO LTE?

So my lte/cdma mode doesnt seem to work at all, i know i have 4g but when i turn on my phone it says mobile network (under settings) connecting and then the mobile network type keeps flashing from lte to unknown, however if i i switch to cdma mode 3g works fine so does anyone know a fix to lte ? i already reflashed with odin and also restored and did all that (sm-g900r4) i also attempted to do a nanroid restore but that didnt fix it either :/

GT-I9500 dropping from H+ to 3G and not going back

Hi, I'm from India and have a GT-I9500 which has been running flawlessly for the past 1 year on BSNL service right up to OS version 4.4.2 firmware vers. I9500XXUFNE4. Since then I upgraded the firmware twice to I9500XXUFNG1 and subsequently to I9500XXUFNI2. Midway while using firmware I9500XUFNG1 in rooted version, I started noticing that my phone data would run normally for a while and then suddenly the data connectivity would drop from H+ mode to 3G but would not return to H+ even though I know that I am in an area that has consistently strong H+ signal. The only option to get H+ mode back was to go to Settings/More networks/Mobile networks/Network mode/ and change the setting to WCDMA only mode for two minutes and then switch back to WCDMA/GSM(autoconnect), then the phone would get H+ service back again for a few hours. I thought that it might have been some problem caused by rooting, so when the latest firmware (I9500XXUFNI2) was released this month I upgraded the firmware but since I lost root on upgrade, I did not root the phone, fearing the problem will come back since I thought root was causing it.
Now in stock firmware running on I9500XXUFNI2 I am still getting the same problem of the phone dropping to 3G mode from H+ and not reverting back ( the speed is not even 2G. Just the 3G icon shows it - data packets hardly get transferred) and I can rectify it only by switching to WCDMA mode and back to autoconnect, as previously stated.
I checked online for solutions, but I don't seem to see anyone facing such an issue.
I thought it could be a service provider problem, so I used SIMs from Idea and Airtel as well, but while using those networks also, the same problem persists, so I have deduced it is a problem pertaining to the phone only. Not sure if it is a hardware malfunction or firmware based.
Does anybody else from India running the latest firmware for GT-I9500 have similar problems, and is there a solution?
Thanks.

The problem is with the modem firmware. Change it back to the original or get a kernel.

Thank you, Devilslasher. Could you please link me to a thread where they have listed the original modem firmware? I did a search under the Samsung S4 subsection on xda but could not find any thread where modems/radios for Indian version was hosted.
Thanks in advance.

No data on touchwiz

I seem to have no data when I flash back to Touchwiz. I need to do this in order to fix GPS since apparently it broke again in CM11. I was told the fix was to get a lock in TW and then restore my backup of CM11.
When I flash: StockRootedNAE.zip, I have no wifi/mobile data/cellular connection. I have the NAE firmware on my phone.
So how do I get mobile data on TW?
Any input?
No input at all...?

I have experienced several no data sessions on cm11 nightlies over the past month or so. I thought it was maybe the ng2 modem so I odin back to nae and had the same thing. wifi seems to always work but mobile data appears connected but wont actually send/receive any data. I have no idea what caused this however if I go settings>mobile network settings>prefferred network type and change it from LTE to 1x and airplane mode on then off then let it connect to 1x for a few minutes then change back to LTE then airplane mode on/off then it connects back to LTE for data successfully. Hope this helps!

My CM11 issue is GPS like I said, not data/wifi/cellular. The latter problem is on TW when I flash the zip I mentioned, even with NAE firmware...

LTE Resetting to 3G Only?

Hey guys I have a problem. I am on CloudyG3 2.1 and Stock Kernel right now for the D801 with an AT&T Sim card. I've been having this weird problem lately where my phone is in 3G only mode (WCDMA/GSM) and when I go check in the network options thats what its set to. I have to manually set it back to LTE/WCDMA/GSM mode. Does anyone know a fix for this? Thanks in advance for any help.
