Hallo all
Today I accidentally deleted all my folders on my Samsung Galaxy S4....
After my phone turned off because of low battery I charged my phone and restarted it.
Now when my phone is starting, im getting the error Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please Select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I tried to install the Stock S4 rom and tried it with the PIT file but it's telling me FAIL! (Auth).
I don't know what to do know, it's an unbranded version.
Please help me! Thanks!

I tried that and it's saying i9505 does not support initialising
Edit: I can only boot into phone with CF Autoroot. But when I got to download mode then and try to install my stock rom, I get the FAIL! auth again. And then I have to boot with CF Autoroot again....
Can u boot into recovery or flash a custom one, then flash a custom rom ?

Well CF auto deleted the CW recovery, so it's on the stock recovery now.
I'm trying to install the CW recovery now.
One more question, I live in the Netherlands and my phone is dutch, is it possible to install the stock rom from another country on the i9505 or only the PHN(dutch) one?

In order to try to help you, I cannot find some basic info like this:
1. What stock rom file are you trying to flash and you get fail? (Complete name of the file)
2. What rom did you have installed before the problem?
3. Which version of Odin are you using to flash the rom, and which version to flash cfautoroot?
Please, answer these questions and I am sure we will help you successfully.

Ok, other question, which stock ROM is AOSP GE 4.4 from Jamal rom based on?
And also, 3.09 is ok for flashing a rom, but if you are flashing cfautoroot with that version, you are doing it bad. Cfautoroot must be flashed with Odin 1.85, the version that chainfire (the cfautoroot author) includes inside the zip for cfautoroot. Other versions can damage the partitions. But anyway, let cfautoroot apart until you fix your problem and get boot into a stock rom. Please, answer my question.

Buf... how did you wanted to flash that? ? Anyway, if you are right and it is based on a mj5 stock rom (Android 4.3), this means you have a 4.3 bootloader and you are trying to flash a prior version. If this agree, you will see in download mode at top left of the screen the warranty bit (knox bit) set to 0x0 or 0x1. Is it?
If so, if you are trying to flash that file you posted it will give you fail, it would be normal. You must search for a 4.3 stock rom and flash it with Odin 3.09. You can use mk8 PHE from Spain for example.
But before do it, check if you have warranty bit.

Yes that's right I got a warranty bit: kernel on the leftside when my galaxy s4 boots.
And in the download mode:
knox kernel lock 0x0
knox warranty void 0x1
Edit:
I installed the germany 4.3 android stock rom MK8 on my phone and that's working atm. What is the difference between MJ and MK?
Is there any possibility to go back to the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 unbranded stock kernel? I got another kernel installed now but I don't know how to go back to the origional one. <---- FIXED THIS
Only problem left now is that I can't find the Netherlands (PHN) 4.3 Android stock rom because hotfile is down -_- Any other way to get the Area PHN stock rom?

I'm glad you finally fixed your problem. You was trying to flash a 4.2.2 rom over a 4.3 bootloader what fails. Because this it is important everyone with a problem like this includes in his first post all concerning his rom...
To get a different rom you should wait until sammobile upload all the files into a new server, they are working in that new...

I look at some forums and when you have the KNOX 0x1 warranty bit samsung will only fix your hardware and not your software.

It sounds logical. Once you get 4.3 bootloader and flashed a custom ROM, your warranty bit got increased... (I also have 0x1 because I rooted it and it isn't a problem for me...)
I use to advice that with a new device as our S4 it is better to work with stock roms and kernel for some months. Once custom development kernels and roms get better than stock one, you can start to experiment with custom kernels and roms... In all my LG P970, Samsung S2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 after some custom kernels and roms, I use right now CM10.1 in all devices; I am sure my S4 will ends its days with CM11 after trying some kernels in stock roms, but now it is so young...

Hi,
No.
Yes, there is a way.
When you download using Odin, un select restart. On getting pass from Odin, remove battery and re insert. Get it to flash mode. This will install cwm. Job done. Rest as per other threads. Hope this helps.

Yes, last versions flash zip files, but you need to be installed a custom recovery, which could be flashed with mobile odin, maybe (not sure) increasing the Knox bit (because the recovery flashing, but because zip flashings)...

Ok, so the only problem with flashing different kernels and recoveries and whatnot with the newest samsung update is that knox will be set to 0x1? (For the 9505)
I've been reading some threads but haven't been able to find a definite answer on whether the bootloader is actually completely locked like in the latest S4 AT&T updates, where you can't install custom kernels or recoveries, or that you can actually flash anything and the only harm is the 0x1 on knox, which i don't care.
Are things flashable with the knox bootloader on the 9505 international/sim unlocked version of the s4?

Not for nothing but i am amazed by how this post was not replied to. Forgive me senior members with the device if I am being mislead but this question has been answered somewhere? I just googled a question similar for another device.
Like mortal combat "toasty!"
Hi everyone. I was trying to flash a firmware with Odin 3.04 and it was "fail" all the time and then it appeared a message in the phone saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I don't know what to do. I can't turn it off, I just can get to the download mode and it shows this message.
Help me please!!
Take the battery off, put it in again, go to download mode then and try flash OTHER firmware. :highfive:

It's I9505, and I was trying to flash MH1 (non company Spanish, without knox, 4.2.2). Now I'm waiting for a firmware to download and I'm going to try another procedure that I've found in a spanish forum. It's MF8 I think. If I can't solve this, I will take it to the technical service on monday.
If your phone had a later version of software (with KNOX bootloader) installed before, then downgrading through Odin will fail. Is that the case?

1. I9505 must be flashed with odin 3.09 (except cfautoroot)
2. anyway, if you have actually android 4.3, installing any stock 4.2.2 with any odin version will fail.

Btw, probably I will have to flash a firmware with Knox, is it possible to install roms (like cyanogenmod) with Knox activated??

If you actually have 4.2.2 without knox bootloader (are you really sure of this?) and you are trying to flash another 4.2.2 without knox bootloader, you shouldn't have any problem with odin 3.09 (others odin versions could fail in some situations...)

Why would you flash a 4.3 stock rom ? you should flash a 4.2.2 pre-rooted rom then install a triangle away to reset the binary and then install Philz recover (any recovery) then download any custom rom you want . and Stay away from flashing any stock 4.3 via odin because your gonna get infected! have a nice day.

Yes, you have the first knox rom which Samsung published (a 4.2.2 room with knox bootloader) , so you can only flash stock 4.3 roms, otherwise odin will give you error. Download and flash last 4.3 rom using odin 3.09 better than 3.07 (3.07 is full compatible with i9500, but isn't with i9505, 3.09 is).

Odin 3.09 was specifically made for LTE version of S4 (i9505). You could have inconsistent issues on any partition such as baseband partition.

This is the solution, 4.3+odin 3.09, it was kind of obvious. Thank you very much to all of you. I'm still with knox, but at least I've got a phone.
Well, as i am really a new user in this thing I just have a few questions regarding the upcoming update to 4.4 in my Note 3 (N9000)
I have modified like everything in my stock rom and i really want to keep on going in stock roms, so the 4.4 is coming and i am collecting the tools that i need to update and have root once more.
I am a rooted user using 4.3 in Samsung Stock Rom, also have xposed framework, superSU, i do change the bootanimation, also have CWM as my recovery, volume tweak and another little things so....
1. When the 4.4 for N900 get released, do i need to do something to flash it through ODIN or just flash it directly?
2. I know that i need to wait for the upcoming CF-Auto Root to be compatible with my N900 and i know also i need to wait for an update of CWM to use is again as my recovery... am i correct?
3. If i backup all my apps with the configs (i use ROM TOOLBOX PRO) in 4.3, will i be able then to restore all the configs of that apps in 4.4?
4. Is there any chance to flash 4.4 without wiping or wipe is a must to get better performance?
I was reading something related that the new version of Samsung Rom has a new Bootloader and i really don't get it, i mean, don't understand if i need to do something with this thing or it came just with the version of the software...
Anything else that i nee to know before flashing the new 4.4?
Sorry for my bad english, i am from Argentina and is really hard to me, lol and thanks all for taking your time an patience!
YaM
Anyone :C?

You should avoid flashing 4.4 XEO for the moment on non-EU N9005 since it is unclear at this point if that can work - there are at least 2 reports that is does NOT work on Hong-Kong versions and you are left with a soft-bricked device.

If it gets released for your particular device then there's no need to worry about anything. Just use Kies to update it for you.

I thought you're asking if you have to do something special to flash it so I said that just use Kies and no worries.
If you want to flash 4.4 through odin then it doesn't matter what bootloader you have right now as it will be upgraded to the latest one otherwise your phone will soft brick. I believe you can even flash the official one from Poland if you can't wait to have a taste of Kit Kat.

Yessss thats the answer that i was looking!

Yes you will loose your recovery, root and bootloder and you have to redo them.
It depends on the released rom you're going to flash. I read that the official poland release didn't erased the data and apps of those people that flashed it on top of their current 4.3 firmware. On the other hand, the leaked poland firmware erased everything.
Hello. I have searched but not found any clear answer. I wonder if I have version MJ7 under AP can i then flash a older rom without problems?
Is it only if having kitkat then I can't flash older rom? Or is it even when being on jelly bean?
I ask because I need to keep knox ok but I want root. So i thought I flash a older rom and root and keep knox ok?
You won't be able to flash anything below MJ7 if that's what you currently have. And with MJ7 there is no way to root without tripping KNOX either I'm afraid.

In addition to what @radicalisto wrote earlier...
even you are in KK, you can't flash older ROM. And yes, any newer ROM which come with a new bootloader, once u flash it, most possibilities, you can't go back to earlier one.
so, if you are now on MJ7, and plan to have KK on it, I suggest you update first before you root your device.

Thank you. I thought it was possible when I am still on jelly bean. So I was wrong. Sad it's not possible to flash older.
On my Note 1 I could flash anything from jelly bean.

Ok thanks. I will not update to kitkat. Because I don't want to trip knox when rooting.

Hehehe.
U r on the dead end at the moment if u need to root safely, since u r on MJ7 alrd. U stay or u upgrade, if u want root result is the same.
Difference only on how many times u need to reroot.

No i have not tried anything yet. Because I though I could flash older rom while I still was on jelly bean.
So sad this of Samsung. Really sad. Less freedom.
