1) Are you on 4g network?
2) If you are rooted, try editing this file /data/property/persist.radio.lteon file, set the content to "true" .
3) No it will not brick your phone if you update it to Galaxy_Note_3_Snapdragon/SM-N9005/VNZ/N9005XXUDMJ7, you are currently on MJ7. Why dont you just update it to KK?
4) If you want to update it to KK, you might want to backup your EFS first. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447342

If you are rooted, then saving the EFS is highly recommended. If you want to update your phone but somewhere along the line you bricked it, im not responsible for all that you do. Please do more research before you try to flash the rom. And again, if you are rooted, you will not receive ota update via the phones, but you can update it via PC/Odin method if you want to.

Nope, just upgrade it normally.
Mate, you should be able to use your Aussie rom on it over in New Zealand. You might need their VPN settings for mobile internet but you shouldn't need to flash a new rom... For instance, I'm using a UK rom on my Aussie note 3 her in Oz.... I've used Polish and German too with no problem.
Most guys on the service desk know jack about this sort of stuff and might have been angling to sell you a new phone...
What's the point of having a phone to use all over the world if it doesn't work, especially in a next door neighbour country like New Zealand...

To backup efs nd imei, I would suggest use dr. Ketan one.
It is easier just install his apk, then run the backup. It will backup the 3 important partition.

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has a i9000DTJF3 firmware that they could upload for warranty purposes?
I tried to restore my backup but the modem - PHONE: I9000DTJF3 did not reset its still on I9000DTJG3, so if someone can upload a modem i might be ok?
i have I9000DTJG4 but i don't think/know if this will be ok for any future return as its newer than stock??
Is it the Optus Firmware?
You can get it off the samfirmewares site
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
yes it is,
i did a restore of it via clockwork but it did not update the modem - phone: part also this was back when i didn't know crap so su and other stuff is there.
I could prob remove that stuff but i need to update the modem, or get a fresh odin file and be done with it
really i could not find it in the firmware section??
Nope can't find it there, if i used the latest optus one to send it back will they say anything? i mean its not for official use is it?
I tried to backup as much as i could, is there a file or something i could copy back?
I thought clockwork would have restored everything
I got this i9000DTJF3 Dump but odin just crashes when trying

You can use this app to change your CSC. However, two things.
A. You need to be rooted beyond XXELLA
B. Your selected rom needs to support multi csc
( tried that before but doesn't work as its unrooted and on stock software

It should work, but you need to root if you're on XXELLA or above
Sorry not that much of a techie :silly: what is XXELLA? So it doesn't need to be rooted? Because when i press change CSC it comes up with com.android.preconfig not found on your device and takes me to the dialer with *#272*1759# already punched in?? After ringing that I get Connection problem or invalid MMI code.

Xxella would be a 4.1.2 firmware.
It would look like your stock setup doesn't have a multi CSC setup so I'm not sure if you're able to change to BTU

if I am not wrong you need:
(1) be rooted to change the CSC
(2) after that you can use the tool mentioned before and/or flash a BTU rom
or maybe easier:
just flash the newest 4.3 rom version (you can do this without root as well I think)
Flash the latest 4.3 rom for the UK, using odin and following the guide in sticky thread.
Factory reset from recovery, reboot and csc should match the firmware.

I'm pretty sure this method will default the CSC to "KOR"
You want to flash the ELL4 U.K. firmware from the stock firmware thread. Download the S2/S3 CSC changer app from the play store and set the CSC to BTU.
This will factory reset the device, so make sure you have your important files backed up.
Then proceed to flash MK6 4.3. Now everything will match.

If you flash a untouched 4.3 rom thru odin it does not void the warranty. It will read official in Odin. At least on my phone it did. Like they said earlier they should have a uk version floating around somewhere. Otherwise just leave it alone and wait for the update. I hope that helps
helllo,
i got in my gt-i9500 an 4.3 MJ9 rom
and i want to change the CSC to fit my reagon so i will get FOTA.

will it be ok if i'll burn them both be using odin?

CP:N9005XXUDMJ4

it is running on 4.3 (UK, Vodafone network) If possible would like to upgrade to kitkat as well. Thank you very very much in advance for any help i can get. As I said I'm a newbie and only now start to learn.
Correct me someone if I'm wrong...
Download mobile terminal and try to exec the command
[email protected]:/ $ getprop ro.bootloader
N9005XXUBMJ1
[email protected]:/ $
If you are on MJ1 or previous bootloader you can go and use Root de la Vega method using any ROM admitted.

Since you are not rooted, it means Kn0x is probably intact.
Upgrading
1. Go into Settings > About Device > System Updates. Check for updates. Then update if it's available
OR
2. Download kies from here - http://www.filehippo.com/download_kies/ then install, connect your phone to ur computer and check for updates
OR
3. Grab any N9005 firmware from here - http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N9005 then flash in ODIN. I have a guide here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/v8j0x3l9vrla9du/Flashing Official Sammy ROMs.txt)

If it's MJ6 then you will trip Knox...
You also have the bootloader that makes it impossible to go back to firmwares lower than MJ3(?). If you upgrade to KK then root with the latest cf-autoroot then you will be good to go. You can then flash latest twrp/cwm to put on custom roms.... Just make sure the cwm/twrp says it's compatible with KK... Same with cf-Autoroot....
This will trip Knox though...

Yup, however reading around and learning things instead of expecting to have stuff spoonfed makes a huge difference, especially given this is a pretty much a phone development site lol. 2 out of 5 threads cover root in some variation.
Just follow the directions and it's pretty simple. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes for a whole process.

Hi guys
I have run into little problem that I'm hoping learned members here can help me with.
I have a Note 3 SM-9005 that was running Kitkat 4.4.2 and I got it updated to 5.0 from a mobile repair guy. Everything looked smooth until I got home and noticed that now the WiFi does not work anymore. It always stays greyed out and never turns on.
I have tried turning on download booster, smartswitch, nothing helps. I have wiped cache, wipe data / factory reset but that's of no help.
Can you please help me get my WiFi working again.
Many thanks.
Cheers

Ok just checked. It looks to be the Phillipines/Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand version. With some of them branded. Not sure which one I should be picking up?
The stock ROM may be slightly different for each country but you can try the latest Singapore version.

Will it trip Knox? As I would be putting a SIN firmware on a XSI (UAE) handset?
Flashing a stock rom will not trip Knox.
Personally, unless there is warranty left on the phone, I wouldn't worry about tripping the Knox counter.

I have also just noticed that the WiFi hotspot (tethering) doesn't work either.
I downloaded the latest XSI (UAE) firmware and installed it using Odin. But the problem still persists.
Should I try downloading and installing a Singapore firmware?
Is there a possibility that this phone is actually a carrier branded phone and was later debranded and that's why it's having this problem?
Please help life is difficult without Wifi
Does Bluetooth work? It's possible that the phone has a defective wifi chip. I have two galaxy s4 phones that have dead wifi chips but everything else works.
You can try flashinga another country's firmware but not sure if that will help.
Do you have a backup of the efs folder?

Yes the bluetooth works.
The phone's WiFi was working fine before being updated to Lollipop.
No I got it updated from a phone repair guy before I got my hands dirty and put the new firmware my self. So no efs folder backup, unfortunately.
Hmm without knowing what the repair person did to the phone or how the update was performed, it's possible something went wrong during the flash process. Does the phone show the correct imei and MAC address?

He did it in front of me and from memory I can tell that he took a firmware file and used a software (probably Odin) to flash it in download mode.
The phone does show the correct IMEI as written under the battery spot and in device info does show a WiFi mac addresd however I'm unsure how to verify if that may be the correct one.
I have browsed Google and found few other people's posts on different forums who have this exact same problem. Someone suggested that I should reflash the firmware with bootloader checked using Odin.
Do you think it may be of help?
I have just discovered that the serial number on the back of the phone under battery is different from what is reported by the device.
Does this give any hint to what may be the issue?
