not surprising. The device hasn't sold well in the US. Best buy for example hides them with the LG phones.
The GPE version, while a fantastic device is over priced, so hardly anyone has one.

And because of that i kinda regret the purchase, but i only paid $49.00 for it so i will live.
I can't take it back because there would be a $70.0 restocking fee, but i do like the tablet.

Odd, I had no trouble at all finding everything I need.
Ex:
Comparison between G Pad, Nook HD+, iPad Mini 2
My previous tablet was the HD+ which is why I added it to this to better compare with modern rivals.
Sample review of G Pad (9/10) - PhoneArena
Sample video review of G Pad - Android Authority
I say sample because it is easy to find many many reviews and information.

There are lots of goodies that are poorly advertised. Examples in case are the embedded screenshot tool (press Power+Volume Down at the same time), or the many free themes for background, icons and keyboard.
I also enjoy the clock/weather widget very much and think it is the best I have ever seen of its kind frankly. Not only does it have the nice special effects such as raindrops on the screen when in standby, but if you put the tablet in landscape mode it stretches to show multi-day forecast.
Also, the GPS is very cool, allowing one to use it for navigation even without an internet connection.
The other features such as miracast, QRemote, and more, are icing on the cake, though I have them on my LG G2 as it is.
Since I am a voracious reader, I need to add that the form factor is the absolute best I have had to e-read on. The 7-inch (my first) is just on the small side, while the 8.9-inch (with the bezels) was just on the large side.
All in all, it is the best tablet I have had to date, hands down, not to mention the very modest price (picked it up for $212 at NewEgg).

Clickety website. Tonight's show will be up to view soon.
Damn - was about to come on and post exactly this.
Just watched it with my wife who loves iphone
Beat the motorola driod & nexus one - and (as said) nearly the iphone. Bearing in mind the gadget show loves the iphone to death :S
Ouch...the Nexus One took a panning
Considering how Apple biased these guys are, I think they must have been very impressed with the HD2. For me, the HD2 is the best phone available at the moment.

the spelling mistake in the URL is on purpose, , , ch5 have spelled it wrong
and who cares what anyone else think, I, and I repeat I think this is the best device for ME, period. Don't you think?
It's nice to see media are noticing phones other than Apple branded ones!

Also bearing in mind the review focused on two of the 'weaker' aspects of the HD2, the camera and text input, it just shows how good the HD2 really is (I personally think the camera is very good, up with my Ignito/Diamond if not better, and once I installed Swype - wow fantastic!)
I haven't had a single crash, no obvious issues with my 1.48 ROM + camera fix, totally happy so far

the region restricted video content has not been in place long. can't see the point of a site like others that restrict viewing to the UK where it airs anyway.
I always thought that the Gadget show was sponsored by Apple as they are so biased!
One thing though...Why didn't they include the Iphone as part of the tests?? surely that would have been a fair comparison....Well we all know that the Iphone would have been knocked off it's perch and they wouldn't want to show that!

Yes it does sound interesting. I would be disappointed also if this were to be the device. Just not into any type of tablet, "industry first" or whatever. Not to mention I can't stand anything with any type of hinge to it. Just something else to be problematic and break. I want dual cores, not screens.

If it was done right a 4.x" phone that converts to an 8.x" tab would be cool but I don't see "them"coming up with a good enough solution for coupling them to work as one big screen. If it feels like using a Nintendo DS then I won't be parting with an upgrade for it.
omg, dual screen tablet! hell yeah!
you might not think it would be cool at first but think of the possibilities!
run an app on one screen and browse on another, or be typing out something on one and using the second to show reference material, or have one be the screen and other be a touch keyboard, dungeon defenders on one and IM on the other,
best reason -> xda on one and the other be waiting on that f#@&in 1 min timer for the download websites
aosp on one screen, sense on the other

Dual-Screen Android Tablet Sprint’s “Big Announcement” for February 7th?
7 Comments 18 January 2011 by Dylan Bailey
Worth Reading?
+3 [3 votes]
Just last week Sprint sent out an email to the press inviting them to a special event where they will release an “Industry First.” The internet went crazy with rumors as to exactly what this industry first could be. Was it a 4G iPhone? Probably not, all Android sites were invited to the event. Now we may have a little bit more information as to exactly what it could be – a dual-screen Android tablet.
According to someone apparently close to the matter, the announcement will be a device and will feature the following:
It has large screens- think somewhere between the Evo and the Galaxy Tab.
It actually has dual screens- there’s a primary one but then also a secondary screen that flips up from the back, like on a hinge.
No word on what that second screen does, if it integrates with the primary screen to give you one big screen, or if you can run an app on each, or what. Sorry I couldn’t get more details.
No official word on if it’s voice-capable, or if it’s some kind of tablet/slate.
Also of note, HTC has been in the headlines supposedly preparing a 3D device. Could this be the device? Two screens for a 3D effect? If so, this would even tie in with the whole David Blaine theme of illusions, eye tricks, etc.
What do you think? Could this be a dual-screen tablet? Would a dual-screen tablet be a viable option in the competitive market? Let us know!

Well, this could be good news. If it is a dual screen, it could also mean that its dual core?
Hopefully its marketed as a phone, and not a tablet (has calling, texting, etc..)
Ok, so apparently no one else thought to show that this is NOT an industry first:
Dualbook anyone?

That thing is e-ink, its not running Android, and finally is not a phone (I'm wishing here ).
Toshiba and Acer showed off dual screen devices at CES. Neither of them were classified as a tablet (both classified as dual screen laptops) , neither of them run Android, and neither of them have phone capabilities.
I've always dreamed of a phone that folded open (clamshell) with a continuous screen (using flexible AMOLED display) but we are a long way from that.
Ugh, not sure what to make of that. Will wait and hold off the hate until I hear more. Provided it's true.
I'm scared.

Just wanted to add a happy voice to the discussion here. I'm involved in social media as a consultant, I must always be on, always connected, using my TF via a wifi hotspot on my phone is a LOT more pleasant an experience than working via my phone with it's tiny little screen
Love sitting outside on my porch, working while sipping cofee without having to lug a hot, heavy laptop with me.
Thank you Asus for this terrfic device, I also thank you also for listening & responding to the feedback users are giving you on this forum!

I agree, this is the best Android tablet release to date. ASUS has done a great job in designing (and pricing) this device.
I use it for business, and this weekend my wife asked if she could use it to look up something on the internet - it is now on her birthday wish list. She is an iPhone user, BTW.
I love my TF a little more each day! I love the freedom it gives me, no more having to pack and lug a laptop bag around with me!
Its the unhappy folks who tend to make their voice heard, while the happy rest of us enjoy life, right? glad to see someone give praise to the awesome device Im sittin on my porch drinkin a beer, listening to the radio and browsing the web on my tablet right now (colorado) Much love ASUS, and asus, please give us tegra3 transformer2 as soon as possible! haha

If he's referring to netflix then just use splashtop and stream it as it runs GREAT on the tablet. Being able to text message, make a call, and watch netflix is a great feeling
I used to ask myself what was the point of a tablet and now I can finally understand the answer to that question.
Next week I think I am reordering mine. I sent it back to Amazon because it was having problems, but I am moving in a few days so I will wait until the move is done.
I like the lazy factor of a tablet I still feel much more productive on my PC, but I can't lounge around and poke at things on it. I also kind of miss dungeon defenders... I was thinking about the fact that the TF2 is just over the horizon, but I can afford to get a new TF and gift that to my little sister. That seems like a win-win if I ever heard one.

Says you. I'm tired of phones getting bigger and bigger. 5.5" screen is roughly on the border of being too big for one handed use. But I'm going with it. Anything bigger I would not consider.
EDIT: That said, women prefer bigger phones...lol I see women with Galaxy Notes everywhere.
Why no waterproof? Why no 4.5? Why no 4000mah? Why no wireless charging? Why no micro SD card expansion? Why no small bezels? Why no OIS? Why no 18:9? Why no rounded screens? Why no edge display? Why no stereo speakers? Why no rear fps? Why not 350$? Why everyone is crying? Why not everyone just buy an S8 instead? Because it's still cheaper than other compatitors, alright? You still need to make some compromises.

OnePlus - from $479
S8 - $676.99
LG G6 - $476.99
Discount the premium you pay for Samsung brand, and it's not that far away.

If there was no feedback from users to manufacturers, you would still be using Nokia. XDA is the best place to deliver such feedback.
Look at google. They have been all over the place with screen sizes based on user demands.
Stop taking oneplus's defense. It's no point. I got the oneplus 3 a month after launch and I am still happy with it.
You should admit that oneplus screwd up again.
Design is poor, and except for the processor is no better than an op3/op3t, even though the price increased.

Did I even say that in my post? Did I even say anything about your opinion at all? No because neither have you. The folks on this subforum are owners of the 5. Don't see why you have to bring your bad vibes in here. Fhd and 5.5 is perfect for a phone. 2k offers nothing but bad battery life. No one is going to have a vr plugged in all the time to justify it. 5.5 is perfect for most people which is how business works. Make products for your larger audience returns more revenue thus you don't go out of business. Like it or not this phone is going to be a great competitor this year.

You must be new to marketing if you think one plus can even compete with Apple. They themselves have said they don't try to. The more you talk the more you invalidate yourself here. You aren't even providing useful information to anyone reading you're just talking smack.

If they are going to be as 'open' as they claim to be it should be a breeze to unlock and flash whatever you want. If they follow in the footsteps of the OnePlus One and even improve on that concept then it should be the most development friendly (mainstream) phone ever.

Why be so critical of a product we don't know yet?
You just have to remember that not so long ago a large majority of smartphones were open and you could practically unlock it easily and flash what you wanted. You just had to wait for the kernel to be available.
I'm also looking forward to seeing what this new smartphone will be like. I've been on HTC for a long time, then I tested the OP7T, which disappointed me a bit and I followed the other OnePlus models which didn't really convince me.
Unlike some people, I don't swear by one brand, so I'm not really a fanboy, but I try to remain pragmatic and open to what can be offered. So I'm waiting and looking forward to see what Nothing will produce.
I hope it will be a really open smartphone so that we can integrate other external products to Nothing, according to our choices and desires.

Waiting to see the price. I have good expectations as it wants to redo the same magic as the 1+1 and on top of that they have bought essential phone assets. These were the best phones I had. Still have my ph1 with a cracked screen just to relief from time to time the itch to flash a ROM. Something my daily s10 can't do

I don't know much more than most people, but I think the selling price should be between 400/600€ for a wide price range.

600€ that makes 800$ Canadian. Good price. The s21 FE is 700$

I think we can all agree that 300-400 won't be feasible any longer to achieve flagship specs like they did back in 2014. The price range you've mentioned would indeed hit the sweet spot. Anything upwards of that will quickly have the masses lose interest. I'd definitely shell out €500 for a new flagship killer.

Already did this and got the invite code with the offer price! I like this phone with a new concept rather than all other brands competing with the camera and forgot about other phone specs!
I've got nothing to say!
