Do some more search u will know what to do.
1st u have to know ur built#. If it is mj3 above, no way u can have an untrip knox after rooting, even if u use urdlv mentioned on above post.
Even if u have lower than mj3, if u decide to flash custom recovery and rom, it will trip ur knox.
Even if let's say u have lower than mj3, u just do rooting with urdlv, when u want to upgrade to kitkat, ur root will be gone, and if u re root again, it will trip.
Conclusion : make up ur mind to throw the flag to enjoy note 3.
Before u decide to trip knox, test all the note 3 issue on ur device first, at least before knox trip, if anything wrong with ur device u can still claim warranty.
Cheers.

If you want to flash, do so on the premise that you will lose your warranty. I've flashed hundreds of times and never bricked once. Just read. Then read again. Just when you thought your brain might implode. Read AGAIN!!
For your first time pick a rom that's used by the majority. Chances are any issues you come across have been dealt with. Also once a Rom has moved onto a high version number. Eg. Omega rom for note 3 it's on v12, they are just tweaking small things, so it's good to go with these. .
Don't be afraid

At the moment yes, as it is new... but custom roms are going to be released without upgrading bootloader so if you have stock rom without knox you can upgrade to newer roms without knox

After having my original non-knox s4 replaced under warranty, ive now been given a mk9 4.3 i9505 and in the same situation.

Thanks mate, gosh i didnt think to look into other i9505 sections. XDA information seems somewhat all over the place sometimes. I can confirm its working. Running root without any KNOX triggers.

Hello guys, i have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500. I switched from ios to android and i am loving it so far. I have a couple of questions: I want to root my device. Does this affect the binary counter? Also if i have a problem with my device and i have warranty, will i be able to format my device (un-root)? Also will this affect binary counter? I don't want to loose my 2 years warranty. Thanks!
PS: While i was on IOS i received a lot of support on reddit but when i asked for android stuff, i never got any response. Is this the right forum for a beginner like me?

1)Yes rooting will affect your binary counter.
2) Yes you can unroot your device to gain back warranty.
BUT the binary counter is HIDDEN!
So you can just reset the STATUS(which is official for stock n custom for unofficial)
There is an app called Triangle away which resets this counter but it only available for i9505 n not for i9500.
you have one more problem that is Knox In some service centers do not pay attention to it, but in others lose two year warranty on the phone

Yes absolutely a problem. I forgot to mention it. If any unofficial stuff is flashed then this knox pox is triggered.

First have a look on the stickies of Knox discussion. You wont get official software updates if you trip knox(as recovery is custom aftr rooting) n there are knox friendly rooting methods. But I dont really care about knox and after rooting it is upto you that you aint flashing anything wrong or not following the instructions. All the best.

I personally am currently with stock firmware
Twice my phone was in service for Knox experiments that I did
Had twice to change the motherboard, but it was replaced under warranty because I have a version that my phone and just motherboard died and there is nothing to see in the Samsung service centre
Knox is a major obstacle
The choice is yours

As I said previously that you should know what are you flashing and what will happen after it. If you flash anything by not following the correct procedure then you ll pay for it. I rooted my s4 3 months ago and immediately took a backup of my OS through a custom recovery. This backup helps me if something gets wrong. And I really dont care about about Knox because what you lose is only OTA updates and nothing else. So after rooting even you can backup your OS n stay on stock as long you want. Choice is yours. All the best.

As stock recovery of the phone changes there will be no OTA updates for that device it ll say THE DEVICE SETTINGS HAS BEEN CHANGED or something similar to it. And stock recovery is replaced by philz touch or cwm while rooting. And side by side this knox pox is also triggered.

If your warranty will be void depends strongly on in which country you live. There is no yes or no answer.
Flash anything but an official Samsung package through Odin and it will trigger the Knox flag and change the device status to Custom. OTA updates will stop.
Re flashing an official Samsung package afterwards will change the device back to Official and OTA updates will resume. But the Knox flag will still show as triggered. Theres no way to reset it.

Hello,
i have SM-N900 Galaxy Note 3 with Exynos processor, i got this phone around 6 months or more. In these past 6 months, i never root doing any tweaks with Odin / any other HH tweaker because i dont have the courage to do so. I want to root it since i have this phone, but knowing there is Knox tripping and such, i never try to root.
And then, i just read some articles to check out your Knox warranty, because i'm curious about 'if' there is any Knox Warranty void on Exynos version, i tried to install Phone Info - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo - and then i checked out, my Knox warranty void is 0x1.
I also getting inside Odin Mode, and the Knox warranty Void is 1, but my Phone status is Samsung Official, the rest is Official.
I read this helpful post to reset KNOX counter on SM-N900: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52329946&nocache=1 , on those steps, it said it needs to flash Stock ROM to remove the Custom status of your device to back into Official, after you flash the bootloader for resetting Knox warranty void.
Question:
1) I wonder, can we only go through the 1st step, just only flash the bootloader with odin to my Galaxy note 3, only to reset the Knox warranty void back to 0, without flashing the stock Rom afterwards? because i don't want to wipe out my phone and lost all my data (I know i can backup it via Kies), and my phone status is already Official.
2) Does flashing the bootloader itself, will wipe your data inside your phone?
Thanks before for any answers!

if i am not wrong ... and as i used to do with note 1 back then
installing a stock rom over another stock rom does not require to wipe data but maybe this is different since u have to flash a bootloader
sorry ... i know i did not help much
Its imposible to reset Knox from 0x1 to 0x0. Unfortunately.

as i said .. if u install a stock rom over another one . u dont have to wie data at all and u wont lose any thing ..
but since u gona use another file with the stock rom (( the bootloader )))
u better see the steps for this way .. maybe it is require ti wipe and format .
better ask the man who wrote that ........

Hey to me it seems that it does not factory reset the device until you have to move on to the the step
See this link: http://blog.flexispy.com/how-to-downgrade-a-samsung-galaxy-note-3-from-os-4-4-2-to-4-3/
Scroll down to where they begin flashing the bootloader itself. They instruct you to wipe after the bootloader is flashed.
Only way to find to find out is to just do it.
How did Kox get tripped btw? You said you never rooted mainly because of that reason.
If it is already tripped you should just root it, install cwm, do a nandroid backup and try the method in the second link you posted.
So if it fails you just recover your nandroid backup and back to square one.
Hope this helps!
Hey all!
I just bought a Note 3 9005 (LTE) version.
I would like to root it, install a custom recovery and flash a custom rom or keep the stock if I like it in the meantime.
==> What should I know? What is that Knox? How to root? flash CWM/TWRP? etc...
The phone is used and doesn't have any warranty so I don't care about software Knox counter or anything similar in case it DOESN'T affect anything hardware in the phone or doesn't hinder the usage of the phone!
Note: BTW what S5 rom would you recommend me?
Thank you!
Damn 78 views and no single reply... that's really sad!
I thought you would welcome me and help me!
You have many posts to read how to root....and for 5S you have 2 roms...
Because spoon feeding sucks.
What you are asking, is answered on the web in the millions. And besides, it won't hurt you if you do some reading on your own. Stop being lazy.

As you don't care about Knox, you can use CF-Auto Root. It is considered a easy way to root. I personally use CWM recovery.
Regarding custom ROM I have no idea.

- Hey
- Welcome!
- Then do just that
- You will trip KNOX - KNOX is a warranty counter than allows the phone to use Samsung KNOX services as well as your warranty status - Flash TWRP in recovery and let it root your phone.
- If you don't care about warranty you don't have to care for KNOX. You can happily flash any kernels and ROMs without hesitation.
- Use RC-Elite's S5 port, others are not supported by the devs anymore.
- You're welcome!
Just flash any rom (I prefer MultiX) and enjoy all the beauty of android
