I think can because my computer (1.5 GB ram ) can run windows 8.1 smootly

see
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-8/system-requirements
you could run 32bit

No because its not free and would be warez
8.1 is a free upgrade if you have windows 8 - just open the windows store to download it

it wil run smoothly bro...as i also used win 8 in my PC with only 1GB ram..but i installed 32-bit...may b 64-bit also wil run

@san122
I have intalled Windows 8.1 Enterprise x86 (i.e. 32bit) Genuine Licence (I regret to buy it, it is worst OS I have ever seen, Long live Windows 7) on Virtualbox with 1GiB RAM (1GiB for Win8 and 3GiB for host Win7, Total=4GiB). I don't have Graphics Card, I have integrated 1GiB Intel Graphics. No problems, runs smooth.
But I still advice you to stay on Windows 7, some programmes and games are allergic to Win8
But if you have more questions about Computers,
there is a dedicated thread about computers in Off-Topic and members actively help there.

Better you install Windows 8.1 cause the improvement of Windows 8.1 is more great then Windows 8. And Windows 8.1 support more apps at Windows Store. Thats my experience

Yes its better. But you should also check for driver support from your PC manufacturer. My laptop doesn't have drivers for many features on Windows 8.1 yet, so still stuck with 8.

I think windows7 would be good for me as iam having problems with display drivers in windows 8
I have no game in my pc.Just Notepad++ and JRE .
Anything to boost it?

well if you need more ram and a graphics card it depends if its a pc or laptop and the slot types available
ram costs about £20-£40 per 2gb depending on type
for a standard run of the mill graphics card that could play games on very low/low settings you are looking at around £40 up to £80
now bear in mind you could buy a new laptop with an i3 processor 4gb of ram and an intel hd graphics card for around £350 and i5 starts at around £450 some with nvida cards and you can get a top range i7 with 8gig ram and 1 or 2gb dedicated nvida grahpics laptop for £800
you gotta think is it worth upgrading what I have or putting it towards something new thats more future proof
(all prices in uk pounds)

[JUST QUESTION] Leaked Windows 8 beta soon on our HD 2???

Hi,
http://windows8beta.com/2011/04/windows-8-touch-effectsgestures-and-metro-ui-oobe-videos-surfaces
This link shows that win 8 beta just leaked. I've heard that win 8 will be able to run on ARM processors. So.. let's maybe test it?
what are minimum requirements ?
i think zune comes preinstalled with w8 because there is icon of zune at the task bar
no one knows, I've just wondering if this beta version could be run on ARM processor
that will be AWESOME
Hey Cotulla!
Windows 8 doesnt suit a 4.3inch display !
i would rather wait for more development of Windows Phone 7
including the MANGO update...for our HD2 !!

[Q] XP on HD 2

Hi..
I just want to ask that there's a toolbox for loading Linux in android,we can port Ubuntu in hd 2 but why we can't port windows XP in HD 2, it is completing its requirements of 400 MHz processor and 64 MB of ram. Bt HD 2 have 1 gigahertz processor and 448 MB of ram then why it is not possible.....???
Is there any project on XP for HD 2.
This is not possible! You must read about architecture of processor. In HD2 is ARM. Windows XP does not support this type of processor. It was not until Windows 8 is to have support for the ARM architecture.
Read about: ARM, CISC RISC, IA-32, ISA. Then you understand this.
WHY U WANTS XP ON HD2??
THERE ARE ALREADY MANY GR8 OS ARE AVAILABLE FOR HD2....

[Q] Windows 8 on Omnia 2?

When the windows 8 was released and are able to support ARM processors, I was elated.
So I went about looking for ways to install and review the windows 8 for myself on my netbook. And I must say, I am pretty impressed so far.
The foot print of the platform is definitely smaller and the running of apps much more efficient than its predecessor OSs.
Now I am all hyped about wanting to port the windows 8 to my phone.
I was surfing around the web for installation info or guides to port the windows 8 onto my Omnia 8. But I cannot find anything useful.
Any one here knows how to do that?
Please advise.

Yeah... I know.
But I am sure the ARM version will be scaled down to fit mobile devices.
Take the tablets for example, if the windows 8 is not scaled down specifically for the ARM versions, a 16GB tablet would only have about 2GB of memory left after the windows 8 "Upgrade".
Then those who have 8GB tablets, would not be able to even consider installing windows 8 on them!
hmm... looks like we will have to wait for the mobile versions to be released.
Any news or rumours in the grapevine?
Have you guys learned anything more about the Windows 8 RT/mobile version. It would be really great if someone can port it to the Omnia 2.

Windows Phone 7 Aps and Windows 8

Has there been any news if apps written for Windows Phone 7 will be able to run on Windows 8 when it is released? If not what would it be because of the x86 architecture or for some other reason?

not to my knowledge.. as of yet defo x86 apps wont work even on an arm build of windows 8... what will happen is apps will be developed for both platforms according to the reason why the metro interface is a big thing.. just means the apps will have to be scaled down resolution and min requirements etc...

Windows 8.1 New Version or Big Update?

Hi,
is there something know if Windows Blue will be a new Version you need to buy, or if Microsoft brings Christmas forward and all Win 8 users get the new Update??
For PC it doesn't matter for me, i'll get the new 8.1 but for Surface??
Also it would be nice to know if a complete reinstalle is necessary.
Would be great if someone has some Information about this

Almost surely it won't require a complete reinstall. The are going to bring back the Start Menu in a limited form. It will just be a link to the desktop and not include the full Start Menu. This follows a planned move: a boot to desktop option. Microsoft will add an option to allow users to boot directly to the traditional desktop.

That sounds great. I'm really looking forward to the 50:50 dock
8.1 is interesting. Per MS' new "devices & services" direction, it would've been a paid update in normal circumstances--as also denoted by the "8.1" designation, since only "service packs" were free updates under the old regime. But I agree with others that it'll be a free update, as circumstances are definitely not normal. Win8's foothold is tenuous at best, and the antipathy it has engendered would be nothing compared to the sh!tstorm that would occur if MS decides to charge for this one. I doubt even MS is that oblivious.
As for the "menu or button" thing, it's not cast in stone. We'll see what happens. It may seem a little amusing that such a trivial change is even debated over, but that is how delicately Metro's fate hangs in the balance.
I like the turmoil. Turbulence is good, as it rouses the monopolist and forces it to compete on other than sheer inertia (which there still is plenty of). That usually means a better widget or a better price, and either way the consumer wins.
It's safe to guess that Wintel toys will be cheaper come this holiday season. That would not happen if Win8 was a breakout hit. Thank Apple for its trailblazing, Android for its lowballing, and MS for its usual ineptness. Tomorrow is another fun day.

No It's A Big Update.
You can update your windows 8 pro or RT to win 8.1 pro preview by downloading 9 MB from win store then while installing the 9MB pack it will download immediately 1GB or more...
If you are running other vertion of windows (other than pro or RT) you have to download the hole windows 2.5 GB (32bit) / 3.5 GB (64bit)
Hope I helped you

Not just Pro. Also RT.. But if you upgrade to 8.1 on your RT device you will lose your legacy apps meaning you would have to wait for another jailbreak for it.
Thanx

The update is greater than 9mb, the 9mb file from the store is just the installer, the installer then downloads something like a gb or so on top of that.
thanks i allready read, that all win 8 user get 8.1.
