Hi every one i know there are many works on rooting the new 4.3 ( the new one. 109) i appreciate these works so i have made something very primitive to root my tablet.
-Read every word CAREFULLY before starting to keep ur tablet safe.
-I tested this method on 311 i dont know if it works on 312 or 321.
-This is my FIRST rooting method i post in my hole life but it worked so its not very professional but i think it is easy.
-I APPRECIATE any other user(s) i used his/her/their post in mine
-I am not responsible of any hard bricks or complete data loss. Soft bricks or bootloops is easy to fix just flash any ftf for ur tablet.
WHAT U NEED.
1. Flashtool for Xperia by androxyde i used the latest one
2. the older 4.3 FTF
3. And PATIENCE. I m not joking u realy need it
STEPS:
1. Make a backup of ur apps with backup and restore built-in app
2. U can follow this topic to get root access on the older version 4.3 .557 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590602
3. After flashing the ftf do not continue on these procedures if u dont have unlocked bootloader.
4. To unlock bootloader just click on BLU button on Flashtool, then follow the on screen steps and u will unlock the bootloader.
5. Once u have unlocked the bootloader continue the procedures on step 2.
6. When u finish every thing relock the bootloader by pressing on BLU button again then relock button. Very sensitive to do this step.
7. If u r lucky u probably will find an update in update center for album, WALKMAN and the latest 4.3 update 10.4.1.B.0.109. If u arent u will only found the walkman and album only
I waited until i found the system. Thats why i said u need patience.
More help: if u updated ur tablet with unlocked bootloader using update center u will brick ur tablet. Pc Comapanion wont update with unlocked bootloader.
NB: 1. U have to buy SuperSu pro to use the survival mode to keep root while updating using OTA.
2. Never update using pc companion because u will definitely loose ur root even if survival mode is active.
Any problems just write a well explained question and attache a photo if u can so i will give u an accurate answer.

DRM keys are licenses created by evil lawyers and TA is a memory partition were the licenses are stored. Without these licenses, Sony's Bravia Engine will not work. Unlocking a tablet causes these licenses to become invalid; therefore, the TA partition must be backed up before the tablet is unlocked so the TA partition with the licenses can be restored.
You don't have to downgrade to unlock the bootloader. You can root on any software version if your bootloader is unlocked. All you need to do is flash a recovery, flash a superuser zip and flash the stock Sony kernel back and relock the bootloader (or not, since it makes not much of a difference anyway if you do not backup TA)

you're right, but Sony's Bravia Engine is just a software script that enhances vividness of colors in Album app. I guess they made it for Xperia Z screen (which was definitely worse than HTC and Samsung ones) to compete with others.
Two screenshots below show Bravia Engine On and Off.

It does that plus a few other things. But it also works in the Movies app too.
This video explains how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awzgNWxRcOI
And since Xperia Arc that there is Mobile Bravia Engine on almost all Xperia devices.

Right download the .184 firmware here:
http://www.multiupload.com/MDS10FFGTT
And download Flashtool from here:
http://www.multiupload.com/7H4JT35B6G
Unpack the .tft file and place it in the firmware folder of the extracted flashtool application.
Install the gordons gate flash drivers that come with flashtool.
run flashtool, click on flash, choose the .184 .tft file. And follow the onscreen instructions.

Since you are rooted. Get Adfree from the market. It will block adverts on free games, browsing the web etc. Very useful app to have.
If you uninstall apps you cannot use ota again to upgrade to 2.3.4 when its out and still keep root (since all the bloatware needs to be still on the phone for an ota update to work)
I personally freeze the apps i dont want. It stops them from running and frees up ram (making the phone bootup faster, better battery life, all the perks that uninstalling them would give you) but it will not free up internal memory since you are not unistalling the app its still on your phone it just will not run while it is frozen. You would then just unfreeze them to use ota.
If you uninstall them you will either have to reflash again (to get back what you uninstalled, it will also wipe your phone clean again) then root again to use ota and keep root.
Anyways i use Bloat Freezer (which you have to pay for only £0.60 tho) or if you just want to uninstall apps the best to use would be Titanium Backup the free version allows you to uninstall apps. You can also use Titanium Backup to freeze apps but thats only in the paid version.
See here for the thread on what is safe to uninstall or freeze.
i flashed R800i 4.0.A.2.368 UK (newest firmware with xLoud etc) using flashtool and simply used flashtool to root it aswell, worked a treat

I updated my Z1 to 14.2.A.1.136. How do I root it? The methods in the guide stickies I read doesn't work for me. Please assist.
You have to downgrade to android 4.2.2, and then root it, the use [NUT]'s guide to upgrade to 14.2.A.1.136
refer to this thread

The .136 cannot be rooted directly but can be Rooted with the method by NUT for Locked Bootloader. On C6903 you can downgrade with Flashtool v0.9.13 directly to .534 with FW provided by NUT to not lose IMEI, then Root with Bin4ry, then Update to .290 with the instructions given HERE, when you have .290 rooted you are ready to update to .136 with the same method HERE.
Watch the Video Tutorial How To in the first Link for .290. It will explain all.
After you get .136 Rooted you can Backup TA First and then Unlock Bootloader. Get Root on your Phone will not void your Warranty, Unlock Bootloader Yes, but if you Backup TA you can Relock your Bootloader without losing Warranty.

Read before post, all threads explain and you asking always the same question. You want root, then there is no official way for it.
BTW, you can use all FTF which you like, I recommended the FTF by NUT because with that you will preserve your IMEI.

To preserve Root you cannot use PC Companion, FOTA or anything like that, just Flashtool v.0.9.13 and update to .136. You can skip the Update to .290 and go directly to .136, both of them using the same method so go for .136.

You can do this also in this way.
Thanks to all who chipped in to help. I currently owned the Z1 for about 4 days. While I previously owned an Android phone, I am totally new to the Sony smartphones as well as their file systems.
Part of the reason why I chose to buy to this phone is the apparent ease of root. However, it seems that that is not the case. 4.3 apparently is not rootable with 1-click. Compounded by the fact is that there is some sort of unique identifier in this TA partition (whatever that is).
Please treat me as a noob and answer my queries with as much info as possible.
Believe me when I said I have done my fair share of reading and trying to understand what is the entire process all about, I am still not really making any sense of most of it. There is only so much Google can do for you before you start seeking personalised advice.
Now, from what I gathered in this thread, I apparently need to:
1. Downgrade to 4.2.2 (.534) firmware, using a FTF posted by someone called Nuts. I need to do this 'cos I don't want to lose my IMEI, which is some sort of bug.
2. I then need to root it with a software called "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry". Apparently, Bin4ry is a person and not a software.
3. Then in order to upgrade to 4.3 (.136), I need to flash a special FTF/ZIP by made by Nuts again, using the unofficial Flashtool.
Am I right so far?
If I flash that special FTF/ZIP, does it deviate my Z1 from stock ROM? Can I still get FOTA updates?
Can I do all this without unlocking the bootloader?

you may flash *.108 firmware ,root it,backup your ta,unlock your bootloader, install recovery, flash any custom rom of your choice, also do read for bugs/problems in rom before flashing.
if you are a beginner i would advise you not to unlock bootloader . first play with roms that work with locked bootloader then unlock it ,as with locked bootloader it is very easy to recover your device...:good::fingers-crossed:
Thanks man. I did not know that you could downgrade with no root and locked bootloader. I am now on *.108 Firmware 4.4.4 kitkat.
I just have 2 more questions then i am really happy.
1. I have some trouble with rooting using NUTS method.
after clicking on the install.bat cmd opens and i type 3 for Installation on unrooted rom using towelroot method
and then hit enter. nothing happens. after looking at some other threads here i realized maybe sony patched 4.4.4 so towelroot does not work anymore.
any otherway to install it ?

thanks! worked and the dualrecovery installer worked too. After I updated the ADB drivers. :good:
TA-Partition saved with TWRP. I did not know that losing the TA-partition would delete the x-reality, bionz and other features forever.
I mean why do people still unlock their bootloader when they can just downgrade and install recovery ?
Just in case... does upgrading / downgrading with flashtool always work on a locked unrooted Z1 or do higher firmwares prevent you from downgrading ? Could i just flash a pre-rooted TFT for example 5.1.1 and dont have to worry about root after installation?

Impossible dude.. Don't ever think about it even in ur dreams..
Every sony models have different firmwares.. We can't use them..
Just wait for some more times until some one will find a root kit for locked bootloaders...
Different hardware -> different drivers -> different kernel.
if you try it... its possible that you get a hardbrick...
twrp 3.0
TWRP 3.0 is out.
https://twrp.me/
TWRP 3.0 is out alright but the Z5 isn't on the list of supported devices? I've seen screenshots on here of v2.8.7.0 and v3.0.0.0 - how does that work?!
https://twrp.me/Devices/
Z3 firmware can be installed on z5.
But your phone boot and cant enter to home.
Randomly reboot.
If anyone can install rooted z3 firmware for unlocked bootloader, please try.
Not any root program can detect phone .
Why not other approach? Find which part is the app with vulnerable exploit and create a Z5 rom including it to root it?

If we can create pre-rooted Z5 stock rom and flashable via flash tool, i doubt it will boot, as stock kernel don't allows that, so again, unlock bootloader to flash custom kernel. And earth is round. ????

Hello,
So, it's not even remotely possible to flash a different kernel with the the bootloader locked?

Pre rooted stock roms can't flash via flashtool buddy. U need recovery for flashing pre rooted rom..
i have to say only one thing
Please wait and do not do something silly with your device, I am sure by the time pass there should be a way to root with locked boatloader.

My locked bootloader Z1 was plenty happy to boot a stock kernel with a pre-rooted ROM. But, as @Rajeev said, you need a custom recovery to flash pre-rooted zips. Since we have no LB root exploit for the Z5 yet, pre-root still isn't an option.
How about flashing a Z3+/Z4 ROM/Kernel on a locked bootloader. It's the same CPU (810) so you might be something. If you can at least get ADB going, you might be able to exploit it and dump the TA partition.

Can we flash a Kernel without unlocking the BL?

I'm pretty sure you can as long as they're Sony signed binaries. I'm not sure if the signatures would be compatible though.
An example of picking and choosing parts of the firmware can be seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/e6653-flash-e6603-firmware-enable-t3307158

You can with flashtool but you will brick ur phone if the kernel is not meant for your phone.

Are you sure? One of the protections of a locked the bootloader is to make it impossible to brick.

Don't need to be sure but flashing ur phone is always risky if your using other phone's firmware.
If you want you can try and let us know.
Anyone know of a way to root 23.5.A.0.570 from within the ROM?
Of course you can create custom firmware with Flashtool, but is there other way?
Kingroot is useless at the moment.
Hi,
I've upgraded from Lollipop to MM yesterday, but with TFT rom, without root.
Then: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/kernel-advanced-stock-kernel-t3347413
But only works with unlocked bootloader.
I've just unlocked my bootloader and installed this kernel using ADB. But, FULL WIPE in my Z2 :'(
Don't know if was the kernel or just the fact to unlocked the bootloader.
Anyway, make a full backup

Its because of the Bootloader u unlocked.. Unlocking bootloader first time will erase ur all datas..
And there is no need to unlock ur bootloader. Simply go back to KK or LP then root it and install recovery. After that flash a pre rooted MM rom.. Simple
And i think after unlocking bootloader u have lost some Sony features.. Did u make ur TA (DRM) Key backup..??
Why do people think it's too difficult to downgrade to another version of Android, root and install a rooted android mm zip thought recovery?

Are you using Xposed? because after many re-flashes and reinstalls on different things, I think, that for me, few of the xposed mods were causing the loops. For example I miss the immersive mods in games etc and I simply can't get it to work correctly as it was, no matter what I try, so different xposed mods related mostly to that were causing the loops for me. I am currently reflashing at the moment

I had Xposed, but revmoved it before flashing. Anyway I'm currently too comfy in the full stock to go through the whole disgrace, upgrade,... ordeal again. I went through the whole circus maybe 5 tones few days back

it happened to me too, tried almost 5-7 flashin via recovery from many stock lollipop n kitkat, but always get looping boot, i could get in to the language choose screen, but when i touch the screen, it will restart n always like that. but yesterday i successed flashing via recovery. what i was doin is, flash the germany generic ftf 264, then root via kingroot n recovery (i choose twrp). then use the zip MM from a thread, the back name of the zip is 1281-9709_R3D, then i flashed the 3 files for root from MM beta thread, finally i flashed bootloop fix from the same thread. then boom, get in to the boot and finished normally

Oh crap, I knew it, but in the Sony developer's website doesn't show this information...
About DRM, I know I have the backup, but I don't know where, lol. Anyway, in the same topic, there's a procedure to recover the features.
tks for explanations!

So u want to root ur MM right?
Well u can simply downgrade and root it along with recovery. Then backup ur drm key using TA Backup tool from xda. After that u can flash a pre rooted MM rom
