I tried several Wi-Fi tethering apps, and one of them required a lock screen as part of the setup. So I setup a Pattern screen lock. I ended up not using that app (changed some settings in the native app and got it to work) and would like to get rid of the lock screen, but can't. The option "NONE" is grayed out. Under it is says: " Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage."
How can I solve this ??
Thanks,

There may not be a fix if your boot is locked.
Wouldn't a factory reset fix this. If i read correctly you installed a secondary lock screen did you make it a system file? If you didn't then I would think a factory reset would cause it to default to the original.
But I must admit I don't do much with this phone

I'd keep the lock screen over FR'ing it. It's flashed to Page Plus, and I don't want to break the flash.

You could just try a rsd restore.
See my sticky button for house of moto or my restore. The latest xml is on my noob links page too.

Hold all keys til screen out. Keep holding both vol keys while you toggle pwr off, on, off. Then vol scrolls down to adb fastboot then vol up to select.
If this works then you can restore with rsd.

So i was checking out the Sprint GSII today in the sprint store and it had a screen lock password on it so i figured some punk put a password on there. I proceeded to go into the stock recovery to do a data wipe and get rid of the screen lock too check out the phone. I navigated too the wipe function, confirmed it then... IT ASKED ME TO ENTER IN THE PASSWORD WHILE IN RECOVERY! The a keyboard came up and everything IN RECOVERY
This must mean you can run apks while in recovery? Can someone confirm the same thing on other GS2 versions by creating a screen lock password and trying to wipe cache or data on the stock recovery?
Maybe other devices can do this too, but ive NEVER noticed it. Does this make GUI's for recoveries possible with touch enabled to eliminate volume button abuse? If someone can figure out how sammy is doing it, that is. Because as far as i know, running an apk in recovery just flat out isn't possible.
^ Teamwin stole my idea, which I am perfectly okay with
If you have an screen lock password set then you need to enter it when using the recovery option.

You have a custom recovery, I'm assuming so it wouldn't have a lock.
Even if the thief couldn't wipe it from recovery, Odin would anyways. So I think its sorta pointless.

Dude you're using a custom recovery. It only works with the stock one.
Would be nice if the PIN is only needed power on, then it would be a nice security feature. But having to enter it everytime I use the phone is kinda annoying.
Of course, i use pattern lock if anything. Less annoying.
But the main point im trying to make, is that if a keyboard can run, why cant there be touch enabled GUIs for recovery?

The only options are plug it in and use Minimal Fastboot and ADB to get adb and use commands to disable the lock, or if you know the password to the Gmail account you can use the "Forgotten password" option after putting it in incorrectly a certain number of times.
There are ways but the first thing you need to find out is if he activated debugging on his phone. The only way to know is to install adb on your computer, plug in the phone to the computer, and in terminal type adb remount (or something similar - it depends on your os)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Need debugging active then just do adb shell and type wipe data, this will wipe all user data and retain the system.
If the phone has a custom recovery, boot into it and do a nandroid to external SD. Then, grab it from there, and read what you want. If not, see if his phone has adb enabled. If yes, and if the phone has a MDL bootloader, you can root and install custom recovery using CASUAL. You may have to have adb enabled AND a computer previously authorized to communicate with the phone. If not, I am afraid there isn't much to be done..

He does not want to wipe data. He needs to access data.
I've disabled lockscreens in the past, but on phones that had debugging active.
Any other easy solutions? We really need to get into this phone
Also, does anything know the command sequence I would use to disable the lock? Could someone write up a short guide by chance?
What about now? I understand that there has been an update available for the phone. Does anyone know if there has been a loophole discovered to get into the phone on the new update?

Nope, because you didn't say which options menu you were looking at or what you were trying to debug. Are you in the Settings menu? If so, have you enabled Developer options? Do you mean the Service mode debug option menu? Are you taking about a debug level somewhere or a logcat? Something else entirely?
As you didn't describe what you are looking at we can only guess. We'll assume the USB debug mode since that is the most common usage -
Settimgs > Gemeral > Developer options > Debugging: USB debugging
If you don't find the Developer options heading, then go to:
Settings > General > About device > Firmware build number
And tap on the build number until you see the message, “Congratulations you are now a developer”.
If you've already done that, I can only assume that you somehow missed that garish and prominent switch at the top of the Developer Options page.

Try disabling Developer Options with the slide switch at the top of the page.
Wait five seconds, then turn the switch back on. Then try clicking on the check box even if it still appears to be greyed out.
Before continuing, I need you to confirm that you are trying the suggested steps. Otherwise there is too much uncertainty around whether you missed a step or tried it and the result. It's not possible to see patterns developing when we have no idea if you tried the steps.
e.g.
You didn't comment or confirm that you had tried these steps

Presumably you have a stock recovery mode.
Remove the battery from your phone for a few seconds to assure that it is powered off.
Replace the battery.
Press and hold the volume up, then home, then power keys.
You can release the keys when you see the phone start to boot.
This should boot to recover mode.
Use the volume up and down keys to scroll through the on screen menu.
Use the power key to select wipe cache partition
If you still can't find this option, tell is what choices are in your recovery menu.
Let us know if you are able to wipe the cache partition or not. And if it affects the greyed out box.
.
Already wiped. Nothing changed
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The only other thing that I can suggest is a factory data reset. This can be done from the settings menu or in most variants, from recovery mode. It would default all of your user settings to remove any obscure settings or conflict that may be causing this.
You should do a backup before trying that because it would remove your settings and files. A backup would allow you to restore your information after the test.
Should the problem remain after wiping the data partition, then the prime suspect would become missing or corrupt system files. That would be fixed by reinstalling the firmware.
And by process of elimination, a problem still extant after that would inevitably be hardware based. Likely a damaged USB jack.
.
fffft, I will leave it as it is. Thanks for support

Had the same problem - resolved
I had the same problem on my Galaxy S5. What I found to be the problem was that I was using Samsung KNOX to segregate my personal information from my company email and calendar. When this was installed the company forced some security settings on my phone. When I removed Knox I was then able to access the option.
Even if you aren't using Knox, it could be security settings on your phone if you are using it for corporate emails.

FYI samsungknox.com/en/faq/can-i-use-usb-debugging-mode-device-running-knox
According to Samsung:
Having My KNOX, KNOX Express, or KNOX Premium installed disables USB debugging on the device.
KNOX Express and Premium have the ability in Admin Portal to enable USB debugging, but My KNOX does not.

I recently rooted my note3 and installed xpose framework and other tweaks. i later realised that my power button cant lock and put my device into my lock screen.
the power button still works for everything else and i have a software button to bring it to the lock screen which i made using the "greenify app".
whats causing this and is there any fix? or any ways to put the device into safe mode ans see if this is caused by some faulty tweak? bug?
Summary:
"Power button works for everything except putting the phone to lockscreen/screen blackout"
Basic solution is to go to security and check "power button instantly locks" something like that.
