Sadly due to all the crap Samsung is doing atm with it's smartphones I've decided to part ways with my S4 while it still worth something, & that will be my last Galaxy S i buy.
As from now on the only Android smartphone i will buy will be the Nexus range, as i want the freedom to do what i want with my Smartphone, without having to worry about warranty problems should something go wrong with the hardware, that is not the fault of a custom rom or kernel.
I'm using my trusty little Nokia 800 as backup now until the Nexus 5 32gb launches which i'll be ordering as soon as it shows up on the Play Store in the UK, I'm just hoping now the camera & video recording quality is at least on par with the Galaxy S3 this time around unlike the Nexus 4 which tbh had a terrible camera.
The S5 can be the best thing since slice bread, but with all the lockdown Samsung is currently doing it might aswell rename itself Apple.
Anybody else also plan on ditching Samsung due to the way they are going?

FOr me Yes and no I love the TW features and pure android is smooth and fast but again its boring as well....When i say TW features I aint talking about the gimmicky ones but the useful ones like the camera, and others I am tempted to buy the nexus 5 but as my s4 is just 2 months old and especially after the brilliant job samsung has done with the 4.3 update am not sure I will stick to the S4 atleast till the S5 arrives
Updating my phone to 4.3. Heard that It is smooth and that's what I want. Sometimes I think to get Nexus 5 but then I realize how useful TW features are to me.
I've used Xperias (for a year or so) and even iPhone (for somedays) but none satisfied me as much as S4.
The most important thing that keeps me on Samsung is the Camera. Features + Quality. Yes, I'm sticking to Samsung
Definitely. I've had the S2 for 1.5 years and then the S4 for six months. I'm thoroughly bored of the Galaxy S range now. Gonna switch to some other OEM for the next phone. Or a nexus maybe if it doesn't compromise on screen, battery life and camera.
100% no samsung for me in the future. With no sources for exynos and all the knox ****, I am fed up. I could live with TW but the fact its laggy even with 2 gb ram and an octa core processor, I think I will look at other options.
Cheers!!

I hate Samsung and their current Knox implementation, turning them into Apple basically. Also I feel their AMOLED technology is nowhere near perfect (low brightness, unreadable under direct sunlight compares to LG screen or Iphones). However, no other phone in this current generation I can switch into. Newest releases contains so many flaws that are such a deal breaker for me: LG G2 without micro sd; Iphone 5s with terrible iOs 7; Xperia Z1, well, let's just say that it doesn't even ring any bells around. All and all, as much as I loathe my s4, I still have to stick with it because there is no other viable alternative that suit my needs currently. Probably won't be using s5 and try to avoid samsung like a plague next generation.
I went with the S4 GPe, and didn't look back. I looked at the Nexus 4, and it lacked features that I needed; no LTE, no 1080p screen, not enough storage or MicroSD to make up for the lack of storage, and no removable battery. Even the Nexus 5 won't have a removable battery, and while 32GB is an improvement, i need at least 48GB for my usage (I have 80GB on mine).
count me in.... i'm fedup with all samsung crapness... next will be a sony or a nexus for me
I'm done with Samsung definitely my next is gonna be something else, not because I think they suck or I'm against their practices but cause I've been using Samsung exclusively since the Galaxy S up till my current S4 and I think I need a break from Sammy!

iOS 7 isn't all that bad tbh from what I've seen of it, my sister just got herself an iPhone 5s, so like anything i had to have a good look at it & at one point i was actually tempted to get myself a 32Gb iPhone 5S, but the screen abit on the small side for my liking.
The camera on the otherhand is brilliant, really have to give Apple credit for this, the camera functions itself is very basic not many options to mess with, but soon as you take a picture 99% of the time the images are spot on & even stay looking decent in low light aswell, something i found impossible to do on the S4 was to get a decent image in low light as most of the time it came out as a blurry mess due to the camera lag, which the 5s doesn't have a problem with.
If the iPhone 6 has a bigger screen & iOS 8 allows widgets then i might be slightly tempted to switch next year & just have a Nexus 2014 tablet for my Android fix.
I'm new to Samsung. Can somebody tell me what the knox implementation is?

As long as they keep releasing phones with Google Edition roms available, I'll stay with Samsung. 1080p amoled + sdcard + switchable battery + decent camera + stock android = almost the perfect device for me (performance could still be better, but that is mostly an android problem (and don't give me **** about how your phone isn't lagging because it is, you just might not perceive it)).
Yup Sony for me next time. I've had every Galaxy S since the S1 but Samsung have really put me off.

I'll definitely stick to samsung, take note that this is just my personal opinion.
I like touchwiz, for me it's very simple, i've had the xperia z for a couple of months, s4 camera i would say is far better, and i don't like the way the sony launcher is. And definitely the screen on the sony ones has not impressed me at all, i even owned an xperia tx but on all sony is prone to quick scratches even the sony z1 has the same screen compared to samsung's screen, which are much better.
The only drawbacks i have against samsung is about the plastic body, and chinese manufacturers can easily make a copy of the phone!
well despite the fact that for the i9500 in terms of rom development is slow, i prefer stock rom! it's very stable!
so i will definitely stick to samsung unless s5 mess things up
i would then move to an htc phone maybe! :3

People on about knox bootloader etc being implemented and that samsung have locked there bootloaders, yeah its a blow but then again we have to remember that Sony,Lg and HTC also lock there bootloaders so its nothing new, yeah Sony screens arnt that great anymore, they look a bit washed out now,T was nice device,I loved my T before it got beer damage,in my opinion the Hardware of the s4 isnt to bad, yeah it is plastic which is a let down but the software is the issue, its heavy due to all the bloatware, slim roms work really well but is it my last Samsung phone,we shall see,at the moment i think HTC one is best alternative, the only thing that gets my back up with Samsung isnt with the s4,thats surprising but with the Galaxy Camera, lovely device but its like theyve forgoten it already ,no updates for past 6 months

Same here. Removable battery is priority #1 for me. SD card slot is a very close second. I also like the shape/profile of the GS4 over Nexus devices, but that is a minor concern compared to the previous points. LTE is also very nice, but not a necessity for me. If a Nexus device had removable battery and SD card, I'd probably choose it.
If there is another high end phone with removable battery, sd card slot, ir blaster and a Qualcomm SOC I will buy non Samsung.
But those things are more important than anything else.

Keep S4 for a while.
S4 is good choice. I have octa core version and with litlle work new jb 4.3 can be rooted and debloated. Knox applications should be removed ,possibly with aromafm in recovery before booting.
My brother bought a Nexus 5 and he doesn´t like it. He said if I want we can change (my note 2 for his Nexus 5) and despite the bovious prices difference what you do in my place? I am very satisfied with my Samsung and will put a new rom to give a extra live (it has official 4.4.2).
Thanks and sorry for my bad english

If you can compromise with battery life and screen size then go for it. Snapdragon 800 will blow your mind. Camera is also not that great in N5 but it'll do the job just right.
I say go for it.
I don't know if that is a good idea, I'd keep the Note. You can't really compare these 2 devices in terms of Performance. N5 runs stock, N2 runs TouchWiz. Stock Android is and will always be buttery smooth. TouchWiz can also be quite smooth and that stuff but yeah, it is a skin of Android which might be not so smooth and fast all the time but with KitKat, it's pretty fast.
N5 has a really small battery and the Note 2s battery blows the N5 out of the way. N5s display is LCD and the N2 has a SAMOLED Display but lower PPI but anyways, think twice, seriously. I had the Nexus 4 for 2 months and I missed my Note 2 so much, the Nexus 4 was really crap compared to the Note.
Just my 2 cents.
Gesendet von meinem GT-N7100 mit Tapatalk
Never ever, cause Nexus may be fast, smooth and other pleasant things, but in fact and from my point of view: BORING
You can have pure Android experience on Note 2 too (AOSP-roms), but you'll never feel the flexibility of having S5, Note 3 features or even Note 2 S-Pen on a Nexus.
If someone would donate me a Nexus I would sell it to even get a second N2.
Thanx for the answers; it´s really hard to decide and the phones can´t be compared. The only way to both be satisfied that I can think now is, I change with him, sell the nexus and buy a note 3... Here in Souht America the prices are very different (almost twice the price for a nexus 5 new to one used N2).
Ok i own a galaxy nexus right now, about nexus devices being boring is a fact they are, but when that happens u just swap your rom, this week i will have my note 2 back, however i will not sell galaxy nexus for now
The advantages
galaxy nexus
always updated,
butter smooth,
a lot of customization,
The disadvantages
no memory card,
recovery problems, cause of internal storage(once i ve done a full wipe and i had no rom on it, a big mess)
note 2
big screen (major advantage)
battery
sdcard
disadvantages
serious software problems(SDS)
my final veredict is, if you are a flashoolic and u just love custom roms, go for a nexus(of course you will have to say goodbye to battery and screen) if u just dont like to flash roms that much and u seek more for watch moovies or play hd games stick with the note,
keep also in mind that u can sell the nexus and buy a note 3 with some more money

Kindly disagreed:
SDS is mostly a myth and overrated (whenever phone freezes, people start crying about SDS)
I can port nearly every device on Note 2 but no Touchwiz rom on a nexus (just take a look around Dev forum and my signature).
So, for flashoholics like me there is only Note.

Respectfully disagreed,
I am a regular follower of XDA and some sites and flash many things just even to try sometimes. I also get bored easily with regular software and like to try new ways of using the phone.
If you like to use Note 2 "as is" then it is still a great phone (even greater than some newer phones). However trying new things with that phone is not about discovering what's new on the developers' world, instead it is mostly about "trying a new cure"..
I recently updated my Note 2 to 4.4.2 and then broke my warranty out of curiosity. TW KitKat is really good for people who are looking for a good phone. But then I went for Paranoid Android. The next thing I was looking for to flash was a camera cure because of the problematic camera. After that got solved, now my WiFi is not turning on without a restart and there is not even one person who mentions it on the main topic (I will, but...). In addition to that there is very low volume problem of the sound recording (whether it be a video or just voice) and there is no solution to this either.
I had bought a Nexus 4 and given my Note 2 to my sister. After 5 months she wanted my Nexus and offered my Note 2 back. I couldn't say no cause she really wanted it. Now I have two data coming from two different persons, one is a flashocolic and the other is just a user who likes iPhones etc. The one thing in common is that they both prefer the Nexus.
Because there is really a solution to everything on the Nexus world, software-wise. But here, on Note 2's world, it's like yesterday that the devs were reprehending people with complaints by saying "do it yourself if you can!!!" out of the anger to Samsung not sharing sources.
There is solution to Nexus battery problems too (you could call that a problem only after a Note). Just buy a power bank and you'll get even more battery time than a Note.
On the camera wise, Note 2 is really good. I believe that is the only thing without a solution for a Nexus device. A Nexus sometimes can match with Note 2's camera but never outdo it.
For every other thing you want or you might wanna have in the future, a Nexus is a better and more open possibility..

Can i ask you how many notes2 have u had?
well i had 2 and both died in the night, i couldnt do nothing, `
so please dont tell me that sds doesn't exist, "i had nightmeers about it ahah"
now im getting my note 2 after a Motherboard replacement.
and whats this and this
I do not want to convince anybody. It is only my point of view at the beginning of developing own roms and the possibilities with this ancient device are still outstanding. Certainly better is the Note 3 and the upcoming Note 4.
My dream is Xperia Z2 on Note 2 with S-Pen features and hopefully soon...... :fingers-crossed:

I am supporting on several forums and in many languages and I have seen SDS in realty.
BUT and that is also true: If thousand users ask, if they maybe have SDS cause device seems to die, always freezes, bootloops aso. there is not even one who really suffers from that issue.
And at last your links to Sammy roms on Nexus: You can't be serious to compare that kind of stuff with the abilities of S-Pen.
Kind regards

REALLY!?!?
THIS IS A DEVICE FROM 2011 with these specs
can u tell me what was the first device receiving a port on htc sense 6?
well let's see if note 2 gets first android L than galaxy nexus?
i'm not triyng to convince anybody either, i'm just seiing things as they are, and note 1,2 and 3 are devices with remarcable specs on hardware, but in therms of updates and customization u know who rules.
I have my N2 for about a year and half, and never ever been in trouble with it: good battery life, specs and apps, but to tell the truth I use the s-pen just a few days... It´s like new in this moment as I recently installed the DN3 (awesome rom).
Please, who has the Nexus 5, what is the estimated time of battery (use my N2 without bluetooth disbled only and supports a entire day) and what can be done to enhance it?

lets hope so, i will get mine this week
That´s right, the community of N2 is strong and with no doubt we will have the Android L... Well, let´s study about this negociation N2 x N5...
I guess I am losing some arguements here..
For those who believe S Pen is on top of the "advantages list", that 1024 different pressure senser is only functioning for some of the Samsung built-in apps and an all called Papyrus (as far as I know). Besides, as a person who losev to draw/sketch (and take notes with hand writing) I have now 2 options; a Nexus 7 with bigger screen and a good touch-pen (which can be bouth seperately from anywhere) or my Note 2 with a special pen but also with a smaller screen. I ca nassure you, bigger screen has the advantage here so IF you are into professioanal drawing with all the bells and whisles of that pen either buy a pen and touch-mat set for your laptop or get a Note 10.1. Note 2 (or any 5.x " sized place ) is only suitable for small sketches and hand writing notes which gives nothing to the pressure differentiation. So, basicly it's a feature and it's there. Of course I am note taking it as an disadvantage, but it's not a choice changer.
For those who picks the battery life as a winner; that is definetely true. If you want all your time in one housing any Note phone is a way to go. But if we are calculating the total volume, than a regular phone with an external battery or powerbank would be almost same.
For those who enjoy the big screen and out ir on top of the list; now that's unique. however it's hard to write with one hand -say, on the bus- no matter how big your hands are. And when you are confortable to use the dervice in any way you like, only than the screen size comes as an advantage. But -like in the pen situation- if yo reallty want a bigger screen, this is just a big phone, not a tablet.
One more thing with the screen, it's one of the best screens Samsung has ever made. But today every brand is giving bigger screens to their devices and the colors are much better on most of other phones. Please don't tell me AMOLED is the future with it's super blacks of infinite contrasts etc. Any Xperia screen, or any of he last 2 Nexuses have better screens and much more accurate color reproduction. Even though Samsung has given us 4 scenerios to choose, there is no "true" color choice there. And there is no true whites on that screen. So, black is just one color (which Samsung also fails to give us, look carefully and most of you'll notice that blacks are not same everywhere on the screen) to brag, but all the other colors are unrealistic.
For those who wants to give the credit to the Wolfson sound chip, now that's correct Nothing to say here. Quallcomm is just getting warmt with their new SoCs on the music busniess and we all know HTC's afforts are mostly for advertising.
And also the camera, maybe the best of it's time. Sadly it is bought from Sony but all the camera software and HAL is completely re-written by Samsung and not shared to the public. So any AOSP ROM lovers has to deal with problems on the camera (I believe, the devs that made to this far created a miracle, not thanks to SAmsung of course)
And about ROM porting; IF TouchWiz is so good why need for porting frıom other ROMs? AOSP is so "empty" for some people so they port other ROMs to Nexus phones or they create AOSP for other phones so they can be clean and open. But why port Xperie and Sense ROMs to a TouchWiz based and un-shared device? I guess deep down we all know, no matter how much goodness it contains inside, TouchWiz will make everyone bored and feel unprofessional?
And the Samsung build quality, I wish there was a way to ignore this.
Please don't misunderstand me. I love my Note 2. It would be an incredebly better and longer lifed device if Samsung shared more about it. But I don't see ant of its features as unique and irreplacable. And Nexus 5 has a bigger family with an easier life for an average XDA follower (or for just a curious person)
Probably will change the devices until wednesday and return to post my impressions. As my brother wish a lot since I buy the N2 and the difference in prices here I can´t say no. In last scenary I´ll sell or change the N5 for another phablet... thanks to everyone who asked and post comments.
I'll take N5 if I were you because I prefer stock!:good:
take the N5, sell it, buy another N2, keep the profit.
dude i have both nexus 5 and note 2(both active usage) with kitkat
FOR ME ,i love the nexus 5
nexus 5 is more compact,light ,performance beast,nice and fast ui,quick updates,high res screen without oversaturated tones,nice camera(with hdr+)
BUT
if battery life is really what you need then go for note2 ..i get about 22hrs-23hrs of usage with a bit less than 3hrs screen ontime with nexus 5
with note 2 i get just a bit less than 2 days with the same usage
but nexus 5 has heating issues
note 2 has expandable memory which might be a big deal for some people(me),and much louder speaker, big screen size
...go with n5 but if u need battery, expandable storage, and s-pen..and lag then go for note2
Hi all, I sold the HTC One m8 and looking to get the S5, like the look of the camera, overall device looks and touchwiz looks improved from the s3 I use to have and get praises? from some users as a stock offering. I really enjoyed the s3 but rom community was not as good as its was closed source from samsung..was the s5 rom's / developer scene like? compared to xperia z2/3?
What do fellow s5 owners think, get one or wait for z3 / nexus 6 / note 4?
Im tempted by the z3 (when they come up for £430!), as it will be my first sony, I have loved and something really draws me to the the z ranges, started from z1, but really want to try the S5 before jumping deep in on xperia z3.
Appreciate your view.
Thanks.
The S5 is awesome....You won't regret getting it...But, if you have the money for the Note 4 and size isn't an issue, then get the Note 4 as it is coming soon
Wait for next gen lol. Not far away
BTW I had an Xperia z and the software and updates were so trash. Late updates that don't address bugs that slow down your phone. 4.4.2 came May this year and was unusable because it made me feel like I was on froyo with touchwiz and it gave me like 15 hours of standby. The standby was so trash. The ui fluidity was non existent. Seriously, pulling down the notification bar was delayed and had a laggy animation from a 2013 quad core flagship device running kitkat
ROM dev for the z was alright because some of the later gen devices features gets ported over so you don't feel like the phone is a pile of rubbish anymore.
Just had to let you know of my experience with Sony that was actually very very recent.
mhh, thanks, the more I see the s5 im tempted.
Love to get a note 4 but im one of those who can watch and wait for a decent price..........till I get a burning itch!! Plus cant justify paying 500+ on a phone, ill let someone else do that and buy it reduced after 2 - 3 months
May just sway towards a decent price Z3, new tech and few months down come back to Samsung Note 4 or..................s6!!
Let see.
What is the rom / dev like on the s5? I know on the s3 xynos? processor it was barley active but closed sourced on binary's and stuff.?
I'm in a similar situation and this is what I'll do: I'll wait for the presentation of Nexus 6 and then choose between that device and the S5.
They should have a similar price tag, but quite different hardware. We'll see...

Thanks.

You must go for Note 4.
ice [N]ation
I've just sold an iPhone 6 64GB and bought another S5 :good::laugh:
Paid £385 with some discount for a brand new UK sim free one from a retail store on ebay.
The iPhone 6 is shocking worst phone Apple ever released, the coating on the screen scratches very very easily, not included all the hardware faults people are complaining about aswell, plus it's a slippy in the hand as the S3 was if not worst due to the thinness.
Luckily i managed to make all my money back on the iPhone 6 as people are still desperate to get hold of one.
The Note 4 will also drop considerable in price in the next few months, as it did with the Note 3.
I too switched from the iPhone 6 plus. I preordered it and really didn't like it at all. It was too tall and narrow. I just got the GS5 and am loving it so far. I was torn as well but when I considered the good battery life, removable battery, expandable memory, ultra power mode, IR sensor with Peel remote app, and the awesome screen...I decided to go ahead and get the GS5.
I am liking the s5 except one thing, why oh why does Samsung think I only need 16gb of storage?
The note 3 came with 32 and I am sure the note 4 will too. This s5 should be standard at 32.
Why?
Because the ext SD isn't that great if you can't write to it (Thanks google)
after installing my apps I have about 5 GB left. Even with them installed on ext sd.
So yeah just want more internal space.

Do you please talk more about the iPhone 6 fraud? It's quite interesting.

It's not worth the money is it, the GS5 or Note 3,4 ect are much better smartphones with an OS that works not the horrid mess that iOS8 is atm.
Honestly there only so much people will put up with Apple before switching, alot of people have started to question both their software & hardware considering the price they charge.
It be interesting next year when the S6 launches how many once diehard Apple fans switch over to Android for a better smartphone experience.
I currently have a Z2 and love it, but want to use SideSync with my tab s, so thinking of switching to an S5. They are similar spec. I would like to get the Note 4 but unfortunately it isn't waterproof/resistant...
The Nexus 6 will be introduced probably tomorrow and sold in November, i would wait for that one. I plan on getting one asap and i`ll sell my S5. The S5 is a good phone don`t get me wrong but i long back to pure Nexus android

It may be good, but come on, S5 has plenty more features and most of them are actually very useful I'd rather sacrifice some performance, but have those great features that stock android doesn't (and probably won't) have!

I guess it's all a matter of taste. I just love TouchWiz, but some people hate it Anyway, let me know how Android L is performing on the Nexus 6 when you get it
Sent from my " Black Beauty " using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes, Nexus 6 announced and few forums are very busy discussing prices vs size points, "hands up" im F5'ing daily to see if the UK price is out!! ARGHH come on google.
Looking at the S5 second hand prices have dropped around £20+ due to the Note 4 release / Z3.
Some good comments (thanks!) towards and s5 and I think ill be going S5 if I can see a tempting price and local to me.
Currently picked up a Moto g 2014, 5", very nice handset, running close to stock, but lack of internal storage is a bummer and im sure the 3G HSPA speeds are not great but for the price cant really moan, ergonomically very nice to hold and 5" screen, performance is mid, nexus 4 is slightly faster but cant moan for the price.
Does touchwiz really slow down the phone? Cant say I remember from the S3 days but I thought it was graphically nice to use and look at?
Just watched a benchmark comparison between the S and S2 and the S2 appears to be a dud. Only like 52000 on antutu. My Nexus 6 with snapgragon 805 scores higher than that. why samsung did not use the same exynos they put in the S6 is beyond me. What do you guys think about it? Supposed to be out by end of the month from what I read.
Still faster then most of the world has but should be a little better for a flagship. I'm happy that i don't need to upgrade this year!
But still the fastest tablet, yes they could use the S6 cpu, but why would they do that?
They are selling tablets to make money not to please their customers.
The YouTube video I watched showed it has double the scores than the original tab s... What's your point OP?
samsung will not sell a tablet that will outclass it's flagship phones, tab S2 is lucky enough to receive a core from S6 compared to our tablet which didn't even receive the S5's 5422 which is HMP capable (all cores firing) yet pushing a larger screen resolution 1440p.
Tab S2 could be worth the upgrade only if
1) they retain or make the screen reso higher
2) better camera WITH flash (why dont they use a bigger camera on a bigger device? )
3) forget being super thin, we need battery!!
4) (personal preference) thinner bezel on all sides
perhaps somewhere down the road, we'll see a tab S edge LOL
My only gripe is that they forgot support for our tab S! Where are these damn updates!
I don't think the specs are too bad. I like the new ratio 4:3 I primarly use the tablet to browse and read, "watching videos" comes third, (and I certainly won't watch complete movies. )
I love that the tablet is as light as possible, I hope it won't affect the battery too much
Yes the S2 should've received the new S6 cpu... But on the other hand, will it make any practical differences instead of a number in a benchmark? I doubt it.
They saved money by not implementing a flash. Which is a pitty for a flagship. But on the other side I don't think I ever made more than 10 photos with my old tablet.
Price is unfortunately not cheap, you pay a flagship price.

I JUST bought my Tab S a few days ago knowing this was going to be formally announced within my 15 days return policy period. But I got the 8.4 Tab S on sale for $299 at Best Buy, which I think it a great price point. It would take OUTSTANDING battery life and some kind of totally revamped touchwiz or stock android option with the newest snapdragon for me to switch I think.
I don't want any updates, I could be on official lollipop but i decided to stick with kitkat that is super stable, no way am i going to upgrade to lollipop as it has too many bugs, that out-way the new features.
Yeah, I noticed that the Tab Pro owners are still on kitkat, I have been posting on their forum warning them about lollipop if they get version v5.0.2
If we get Android M, I will wait for any problems to show before i upgrade or not.
John.
Samsung just dump a product within a year. Hate to say it but I find that's why people buy Apple plus the residual sales values.
So as Samsung copy everything Apple can't they also copy software support.

I personally love the Lollipop update !
Particularly the recent updates coupled with my SkyHigh kernel make it so much faster, smoother and stable than KK.
That's what we do here at XDA, we don't want to hear whining, we want to be proactive and try improve on it
So what other "bugs" if you haven't bothered to upgrade ? Some found on other websites and forums have mentioned poor RAM management, but this has been the "norm" for most Samsung devices and TW. My kernel goes someway to addressing that.
As far as Tab-S2 goes - I'm really disappointed in the SoC (amongst other hardware). Not premium at all....
Not everybody want to flash their Tab S due to warranty ect, A lot of people have reported problems with official lollipop v5.0.2, all i am saying is they should wait for any problems to be revealed before upgrading.
It`s great that you found a lollipop rom that works for you.

Users should make up their own minds rather than taking advice from someone who (by admission) hasn't bothered to try themselves.
For those that worry, the latest LL firmwares far exceed the old KK firmwares as far as stability and smoothness in it's stock state. Take it from someone whom has flashed both stock and customized KK and LL firmware for T705.
It's easy to find out yourself and just as easy to downgrade via Odin without breaking warranty.
But things can always be improved upon (depending on point-of-view) and modified with options. Why ? Because this is XDA-DEVELOPERS, not sammobile.com.
Anyway, sorry OP for the OT.
So what lollipop rom and kernel do your recommend, I have an UK T800.

my tablet use always 60% movie, 20% browsing/reading news, 20% gaming.
I don't think 4:3 will do much good for me.
I just got this little beast yesterday. I live in Thailand where it was released about 4 days ago, i paid exactly $451 for the 32gb LTE 8-inch version. In the past 5 years that i have been on and off samsung devices, this is the first time that i notice a smooth, lagless touchwiz experience. Actually, before i even buy any samsung devices i make sure they have been in the market a few months, and there a few customs roms out. This time around samsung did a good job cutting down on the bloatware and the new redesigned touchwiz is surprisingly good.
The 4:3 ratio is perfect for me as i will be using it mainly for school.
The only thing i am concerned about is battery life, The Huawei Ascend Mate 7, a 6-inch phablet, has a 4100mah battery. This 8-inch tablet has a 4000mah battery.
Samsung claims:
9 hours of LTE web browsing,
10 hours of WIFI web browsing
14 hours of video.
Here are my stats for the first 5 hours:
Turned on with 55%,
after 5 hours it was sitting at 10% with 3 hours of SOT,
somewhat heavy usage downloading apps, setting it up, installing everything, and testing it.
That oled display is going to kill your battery for school work, all that white gulps down the power, you would gave been better off with an lcd display that does not care what colour the screen is.
Check to see if your apps/browser has an night mode that turn white to black, If your prefer white just keep the brightness low to save as much power as possible.

I thought so too, My next option was the iPad mini. I'll just use this one for now and see how well it performs, and when the new iPad mini comes out, i'll decide which is better.
Oled display are really best for Video the colors look amazing and power used when playing a video is lower than any lcd tablet according to power consumption group tests.

After the Samsung event today, when the pre-order went live, I got crazy over which one to buy. Even on samsung website, they have put a teaser to select the one I like. For being a note fan, I was inclined towards Note although I loved the edge display of S6 (never liked the 'S' series though). But finally, I took the big step. Ordered one S6 Edge+. Thought why not give a try, I can always change it after a year or two if its not that good, but I gotta try the edge for once.
So, which one did you buy ? (if you thought its worth the upgrade ofcourse). Or do you think I made a mistake ?
Yeah who know's if it's a good choice or not - tell us what it's like when you get it
Note 5 pretty much killed the Note series
I'll get it on 28th. I expected a delivery with the release date, however, I booked mine from BestBuy since they were giving away a free wireless charger (please note that this is not the fast wireless charging pad). I'll post some reviews once I use it for considerable time.:cyclops:

I'm still on my note 2 here. I was waiting for the announcement to decide if I wanted to go to note 4 or note 5.
The lack of SD card and no removable battery killed it for me.
Then I saw the new keyboard case!!
Omg be still my heart! It's been 4 years since my beloved HTC G2 and it's physical keyboard.
I might jump ship from the note and go for the s6 edge +!
I don't use my spen very often...
I like the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus, but the battery maybe the big problem which is bother me. Do I need to carry a power bank with it all day lone?
I wonder if existing S6 Edge owners will be pissed since they just bought a spanking new phone only a few months back, and now so soon an upgrade has been released.
Edge+ for me. I rarely used the S-Pen and just bought the Note line due to the large screen. Battery is a concern, but we will see.
Note 4. Samsung makes decision easy.
Being in the UK it would have to be the S6 Edge+. The only issue is that currently my provider (O2) has announced There will be 1 capacity available - 32GB but it hasn't even been 24 hours so I'm hoping it's incorrect.
Currently running 96GB on my Note

Exactly. The only thing good about the Note 5 or S6 Edge+ is the looks, mostly everything else is a downgrade over the Note 4.

Even though I would have managed to get over the fact that for what ever reason the Samsung god decided we are not worthy of Note 5, when I went to O2 website and saw the only option of 32 GB.... I simply just close the tab and went to look at XiaoMi Redmi Note 2!

Right, Note 5 would have been my best choice for an high-end device to buy.
So... I'll buy a Nexus 5 2015.
I got a ship notification for the GS6E+ for a Monday delivery. I guess AT&T had them ready. I just ordered a few hours ago.
Im soo hyped i just got both the S6 Edge+ and the Note 5 pre ordered and im going forum post trigger happy lol I hope they mod, custom rom etc the works on these devices cuz i cant wait to see what these magicians can do with these devices!
which color are u getting, looks like US is getting only the black and the gold version, i was keen on the silver titanium version.
The verizon store owner who is also a friend told me that the gold version looks very classy, as a samsung rep brought it over to the store to show it to him.
I am kinda finding it hard figure out, if i should get the gold or the black
Decided on the edge+ cause i never use the s-pen

Well, I'm not the one to judge what you should or shouldn't buy, however, I wouldn't say its a downgrade in anyway. For further clarification, let me take a few examples of the things people have been complaining about:-
Lower Battery Life
-You might say it has a 200-300 mAh lesser than any competitive device or even older Note devices. However, there is a good reason for that too. The new AMOLED is highly optimized for less power consumption compared to older Note devices. GS6 Edge and Edge+/N5 packs the same Quad HD resolution, hence the screen consumption will be same even though the screen size is bigger since the PPI is reduced in Edge+/N5 (which is again irrelevant to naked eye).
-The 14nm processor is way more power efficient than the older processors used in Note series.
- The non inclusion of SD Card also positively affects the battery life, check google for more info (we will come to the negative side later)
- The LPDDR4 RAM in newer smartphones have double the efficiency (data rate) with considerably less power consumption.
Even though I do not disagree that inclusion of bigger battery with some compromise over thickness would have been better, however, the battery (even though sounds less on paper) is equivalent (if not more) to what we used to get in old note series.
Missing SD Card
This seems to be one of the biggest worries for most of the folks, and they do have a valid reason for that. However, if we talk about why the SD Card hasn't been included, I can tell you its definitely not because SD Card is not supported with UFS2.0. The real reason is due to UFS2.0 being too fast (atleast 3 times of eMMC 5.1 ). When coupled with an SD Card, just imagine the user experience when half the app is running from UFS2.0 while its cache/data is stored in SD Card, that might actually lead to lags. This is the same reason for Apple not supporting SD Cards too (they don't use UFS2.0 though). Although its not the perfect replacement, however, you can pick some cheap sandisk otg flash drives for like 10-15 bux or may be wifi flash drives for like 30-40 bux. At least that's what I use.
Removable Battery
I think they did it to make create that unibody design and give it the premium look. I know it might not be what we were looking for in Note series, however, I do remember the days of the past (like 2 years back) when Samsung was criticized for their cheap plastic models compared to metallic HTCs. Well, guess what, they heard us. Even I miss this one. I'm looking forward to pick one MobilePal QI enabled power bank which retails at around 38 bux. I know we can't carry another bulky device with us all the time, but samsung didn't leave us with much choice in this area.
Missing IR Blaster
I still couldn't figure out what made them get rid of this. I was so much looking forward to this one and this is probably the only thing I would miss on my upcoming flagship. Can't do much here either...
Overall, I do not think Samsung has released a downgrade to its predecessors. The inclusion of amazing hardware [14nm fastest processor, UFS2.0, DDR4 RAM, Fast Wireless Charging, LTE Cat9, Optimized S-PEN, etc] bundled with its fair and unique software does put it above any other flagships in the market ( if we do not consider the price range ). Again, this is not for the sake of any argument, its just as per my analysis. Please feel free to correct me if I've mentioned anything wrong.
If you don't like to call it a downgrade then call it a sidegrade if you like and of cause the SOC, Fast RAM, Software improvements for the SPEN and so on are on the plus side. The problems you name for a SD card would apply to OTG storage just the same, besides you have to have this externally plugged in tearing at the usb port. For now the majority of S6 users seem not to be very impressed by battery time. Maybe software improvements can make that better and the hardware has the potential to deliver equal running times, but for S6 users this promise is not yet fullfilled.
The plastic back of Samsung phone always were a pro argument for me and i did never understand why people cried for metal or glass bodies. A plastic back is light weight, very cheap replaceable. Never had a problem with that while other phones with metal bodies had poor connection strength.
Actually i bought the Note 4 yesterday from my carrier for 19,95€ with contract prolongation while a S6 (without edge) with 128GB would have cost me more than 340€ and S6edge+ will probably be even more expensive while having only 64GB and the Note not be available for Europa at all (at least for now). Paying 300-400€ more for a phone that has some technical advantages and a lot of disadvantages in usability and the promise that regarding battery time it might come close to the note 4 and some of the insufficiencies can be compensated, somehow. Sorry, I don't see this for me.
I think their new commercial slogan will be "Samsung, making decisions easy!".
