CWM recovery wont recognize .zip ROM files!! - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

So here's the thing. Today i tried installing Paranoid on my HTC HD2. And it's not the first time i am doing this. I also wanted to use that link2sd for more space for my apps and i decided to create the Ext4 before installing the Rom.....which didn't work out so i reformatted the SD back to FAT32 and went on with the installation. So using HD2 toolkit wipped Task 29 installed CLK and CWM recovery, copied over the zip file to SD card. Normally i pressed "install zip from sd card" and then "choose zip from sd card" and it says ??No files found??. Tried that a couple of times, reformated the sd, done the process all over again but it's all the same.
Sorry for that long story but i want to make clear of what's my problem and i would really be very greateful if somebody can help me with this thing.
P.S. First time i formatted the SD was with Minitool Partition Wizard. And of course tried to mount/unmount sd card in CWM.
Thanks in advance!!

Solution to THAT.
Solved it myself (as it seems) so to everyone having the same problem and cant find any solution (like i did) from those on xda (or other sites) allready, you can read this help website from xda again. Just read the last one "Flashing without sd card" (that's what's worked for me).
Glad if anynone gets his phone back to normall and of course a big "THANK YOU" to the one who made that "helpsite"!
P.S. You will need sdk development kit for that!

Clockwork Recovery 3.0 Corrupted My 16gb Sd Card

I had just finished installing Myns New Rom and Flashed the combo radios aswell, I ran Titanium Backup and installed my apps. I opened Rom Manager and said I had to flash Clockwork Mod and it updated to 3.O. I then proceeded to make a back up of the rom and then my phone went straight to boot loader, It would not reboot and would not enter recovery just reboots back into boot loader. I finally removed the sd card and rebooted after 10 mins it went back to my rom. I then tried to open my sd card on pc an nothing shows up, I tried 2 others and nothing, cannot even format. I borrowed my friends evo and went to recovery with sdcard in to format it say error can not mount and nothing. I tried within the phone, with cm6 installed and it said the sd card was blank or wrong something, (I forgot) No luck. I think it might have destroyed my sd card, Im trying to find a software that may allow me to do so any luck.
-not visible in pc
-cannot mount or format on phone or recovery mode.
-16gb Micro Sd card Sandisk class 2, bought when touch pro came out for 110 from bestbuy (got 100 back from Htc Touch return so really only 10)
-Had partitoned earlier to run mikifroyo app2sd, unpartioned by formatting.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Ok when I Insert My SD card it just boots to loading and reboots over and over again. Any ideas?

try looking in the forums for the lastet recovery in .zip format.
Copy it to the root of the sd card. (if you think that you have an issue with the SD card, then take a fresh SD that is formatted to Fat32. Make sure it is not NTFS. If you formatted on the Mac, make sure the partition format is MBR and not GUID, if you don't know how to do this, I can explain further. The easiest way would be to make sure that you do it on a windows machine)
Start your phone, and hopefully it will install the recovery automatically.
After you install the recovery, and get your phone booted into android, you can locate a pre-rooted rom of your choice in the forums here or at the "other" place if you prefer.
You can read more about it in this other section of the forum. The information below is from that forum, in case you can't find it or are too lazy to search.

Same here. Maybe its something to do with UK Hd2's.
I followed all the instructions too, and kept getting stuck in the boot screen loop.
Back to Nand for me... one thing, on screen before screen to flash zip it says can't find misc, even when I make a misc folder it makes no difference. Good luck to you anyway.

Can you tell us what you're doing and what happens?
i Copy contents of copytosdroot folder to the root of my sd.then i boot into magldr and go into USB Flasher whilst still connected to my laptop,Run DAF,when thats done i again boot into magldr and tap Boot AD SD but it keep failing to go into Clockwork,i keep getting soming like k:Music/zimage not found or failed to load kernal even tho ive fully formated my sd,its really anoying,i cant try out any new roms exept nand,Really frustrating
I had problems running like this initially - what worked was putting the 'copytosd' files in a folder on the SD Card (I used 'ADSD'), then changing the Boot AD SD folder option in the Settings menu to that new folder ('ADSD').
Then try using 'Boot AD SD' option.
For some reason it did not like the root folder initially (though it now seems to work fine).
Use Panasonic SD Card formatter & re format the SD card & try again, I had the same issues but now its resolved..!!!

Guys,
Mine works as well so not a UK issue
Did you follow the instructions using DAF and indicated that it was successful but when you try to 1: boot from sd nothing happens or it flashes and returns to the MAGLDR screen?
I had an issue with the root folder as well, create a folder \recovery and copy the 2 root files intrid.gz and zimage to the \recovery and goto services and change the boot to folder to \recovery.
Important reboot before trying as MAGLDR does not change the folder until after a reboot.
Boot from SD and should be OK
Or at least was for me
Now Nand has came out it has inspired a lot to create their own Android builds and new chefs make mistakes. Not trying to blame chefs in general but some do make mistakes.
Also when we used to load up the builds from SD card, I would say 8 times out of 10 I would use a data.img which hasnt been used before. Now if you go from a Sense build to a non-Sense build, and you are using a data.img in app2sd, then they are not properly matched so a-b might go to a-c and miss b out if you know what I mean. What I do is use a data.img for Sense, another for Sense HD/Z, another one for Gingerbread and another for Miui and these are on my Desktop. When I load up a different builds like Sense to Miui, then I will move the data.img from .data or data2sd folder off the memory card and then overwrite the data.img I have on the Desktop for Sense and replace it for my Miui data.img.
I know it sounds tedious but I found it to help.
Also for the new App2SD+, I create the partition using ClockWorkMod instead of another application. I will use Partition Wizard for Windows to delete a partition and resize the fat32 partition back to the full use of the memory card but always partition and create EXT3 partition using ClockWorkMod.
Hope this helps.

i have a slightly different problem: I can boot into clockwork recovery after copying the copy-to-sd files and use it as a partitioning tool. But cant actually complete the installation as I keep getting errors when i run the DAF file from CWM folder in USB flasher option of MAGDLR, so cant actually use it for recovery !!!!

Noob help I've read tons and haven't seen this HD2 nand problem

I was in the process of installing ( NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V2.7_NAND_(Android-2.3.4)_update.zip) I tried posting in the other thread but can't since I don't have enough posts.
Anyhow I went through all the steps on the gingerbread installation page ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 ) and everything was going well until I hit the flash stage.
When I'm in (magldr v1.13) Magldr at #8 "AD recovery" (already did the wipe) the next steps says to "install zip from sdcard"
The problem is I didn't put the zip file on my sd card because no where did read that it had to be done. I thought that was the thing with NAND was you didn't need to use your sd card.
Now my phone just boots into magldr. Does anyone know how I can install from the file on my desktop instead of off my sd card? or do I need to reinstall win-mobile and start over?
Thanks for any help...

Just click on the guide link in my SIG, it tells you how to copy the file to your SD card with MAGLDR or CWM
Look for option #4 of MAGLDR or Mounts and Storage in Clockwork Mod Recovery.
I'll try that thank you...
Thanks a million for the assist. It took a few times trying, the connection kept failing but on the fourth try it fully transferred the file and it's been easy sailing since then...

[Q] CWM can't mount /sdcard

Hi,
So after a successful install of WM7, which i didn't like at all i wanted to try a Android NAND rom, i choose the [MAG/cLK]TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.4.1[2.3.4][A2SD].
I both tried the MAG and cLK method, with both i ended up with the same problems:
I am also unable to access the SD card in Win7 using the mount SD card option with CMW. (For cLK i also tried the google-usb_driver)
So i thought: "Not a problem i have a SD card reader built-in"...
But when trying to install the .zip files using CWM i get the error message "E:Can't mount /sdcard".
I followed both tutorials step by step to make sure i didn't made any stupid mistakes. I've also tried 2 diffrent SD cards and both formatted several times.
With no luck i tried some google'ing but found no solutions for my problem.
Its the Rom
Your problem is the ROM most likely, try to flash a new ROM, or go through CWM thread for same problem and its fix, because most likely the answer you are looking for is in CWM Thread,

How did you format it? Using the default Windows formatting tool is not enough, use Panasonic SD Format (google for it). You can also try and use a partition software (Like Easeus) to find out which partitions it has.
Thx, my problem was that i formated using the windows tool. Donwloaded Panasonic SD Format and formated again.

[Q] SD card problems

Hi,
I was trying to flash my HD2 when i ran in a bad problem.
Whenever I try to read or write to SD my phone freezes. I tried several SD cards.
It happens when I try to install a ROM from SD, try to partition a card or when I mount it and try to put files on it from my computer.
I also prepared a card at my computer with EXT4/FAT32, trying to install a ROM it freezes.
Can anyone help me?

Ok weird but anyhow you have two things to try either:
Format your sd and try your repartitioning from your pc and start over
Or
Format sd and partition right through the advanced menu in clockwork mod recovery. Personally I always do this but keep in mind that if you require an ext4 partition you must use ext4 recobery as normal cwm is only capable of creating an ext3 partition. Let me know how it goes and if notbwe will take different approach bud. Good luck

Thanks rawdaddymagraden for your reply.
I did so already, I started to use clockwork to prepare my SD card, it did create the FAT32 partition but never created the ext4, at first I was thinking it was busy creating because of the "please wait" notification. After an hour of waiting i suspected the phone hung in process, I tried so wih 2 cards.
Next I prepared the card from my computer, I used MiniTool Partition Wizard for it. I have put the prepared card into my phone and continued my installation. When I mounted the phone and tried to copy my install files it became unmounted after it started copying the file.
Finaly I wiped the card, prepared it and have copied the files from it on my computer. After I did put the card back I started te installation from it, it starts installing but it freezes after a few seconds.
I'm lost.....

Hmmmm..... well have you tried to do a task29 on your phone and then install recovery again and repartition.
Also, what boot loader and recovery are you using?
P.s. you can always press the thanks button as well as saying it
