You know , more than kitkat , I feel samsung should fix all the bugs , which to my surprise they are doing it in full force looking at the number of updates on Sammobile.com .
I have an S4 .. it got updated to kitkat , but honestly dint feel much of a difference as it was running smoothly before too .
So yeh , bug fixes first priority , according to me .. cuz in the end its the apps that you are gona use the most and they should perform flawlessly first

Im tired of hearing about kitkat....its really nothing special....its not a big deal. Get over it...it will come, and when it does...then what?

Exactly lol people are becoming obsessive. You'll get it when ya get it. And when ya do, you'll start complaining about what ya don't like and raving about what you do, and then asking for the next update in a month.

This. I'd prefer a perfectly stable and bug free 4.3 to a buggy 4.4 any day.

Samsung's been showing M-UX as a N10.1-14 feature for over a month. That means people buying it should expect it to be there. Rather than call or write *****ing about wanting KitKat call or write asking where to find M-UX because it's shown as a feature and you can't find it on your device. M-UX is listed on Samsung's global N10.1-14 microsite and for the Canada, UK, India, and Australia regional sites. You'll get further complaining about the absence of something Samsung's described as a feature on their websites than wanting the next Android version update faster.

Maybe that's why the update is taking so long to be released. Some of the Note Pro features being ported over. Me personally the feature I would like the most is Hancom office and 4 multiwindow support. If we get those in the update them all good.

The Tab|Pro 10.1 doesn't have four window Multi-View so I doubt we'll get it. I also doubt we'll get the distinct "Pro" features; especially Hancom Office. Samsung screwed up by not making the N10.1-14 the first of the Pro series (Note|Pro 10.1) even if it launched the way we have it with the Pro features added later via a Premium Suite when the other Pros were launched. I'm betting all we get is 4.4, the freshened TW interface, updates to Samsung's stock apps, and M-UX.
Somewhere between CES and launch M-UX was castrated so the choice of widgets for it is pretty slim and the ability to use tiles to launch non-M-UX apps is missing. I'll probably use the one mandatory M-UX page as a news feed and keep the rest of my set-up exactly how I have it. I'm one of those that got Hancom before they asked XDA to pull it and all the other Pro features except e-Meeting (which requires another Pro device to work) are available on XDA or the Internet. The only things I'm looking forward to are the fluidity and battery life improvements in 4.4 and the freshened TW interface. But I haven't had some of the issues others complain about so either I have lower standards than everyone else or I'm just lucky. I've been using a 4.4 stock ROM on my N3 for almost two months and aesthetically and feature wise there's very little different from 4.3. I expect our 4.4 update will be pretty similar in that regard.

my friend S4 i9500 has some problem after installed official 4.4.2 update

I don't understand why some people think that the magazine ux advertised for our device has anything to do with the new magazine ux which is made for the PRO devices.
Our device has already a magazine ux, which you can find if you swipe from home button - up. No more no less.
After owning 3 Samsung devices i have learned that If you expect to get the latest software from Samsung then you'll be highly disappointed.
So to summarize... At some point within 9 months we'll get the 4.4.2 which will contain zero interface changes except from the white battery and the camera in the lock screen. That's it.

I'm hoping we at least get the option for multiple user accounts.
Getting this tablet has made me remember how much Touchwiz suffocates some genuinely useful features while giving you a tonne of gimmicks and a few usable features that you could easily replicate with a few apps and full control of your device.
I think if multi user accounts gets left out in the update I won't be worrying too much about tripping knox.
Not sure how they can cry foul when people have paid some decent $ and they're the one that have crippled a far better OS.

OK Samsung, W8 is out and taking buyers, time for JB OTA - now!

JB for the Note II has been out for a while now. Note II specs are remarkably similar to SGN10.1 specs. JB with Note II multitasking competes well with W8. The current configuration not so much.
So, open letter to Samsung. Time to push out the JB OTA now! You are going to start losing SGN10.1 users to W8 devices. Get your act together and OTA us dammit. This is a new device. We should NOT be made to wait like this. Pisses us off and just bad business for you.
And if you are delaying us just so your W8 devices can get a foothold you are going to have some unhappy early adopters on your hands.
Get it done.
P.S., This post will solve nothing but It felt good to vent.

Yes, it's always a good idea to try to put pressure on a company to release software they don't think is ready. I mean, we all know they develop things and just wait and wait for no reason before releasing.

I wouldn't expect JB out anytime soon, with 4.2 out last night Samsung probably has to start with the OS base all over again but if they had gotten to the apps then at least those are a quick copy paste but with less devs working on the S3 and Note 2 version as it is practically out we will probably see the update coming through in December late November unless they give us 4.1 and we wait for 4.2.

After trying to get a straight answer out of anyone at Samsung USA I am not betting anytime soon. If it happens by the end of this year I will honestly be shocked.
After going through the new christmas advertisement, i have a feeling that the update will definately come on or before 25th dec.
I think samsung wants to cash on shopping time, and put in a new advertisement in front of ppl to get that feel good factor for this tablet.
I really don't think they have any other reason to hold this update back from 8013 users otherwise.

You would think with all the tech sites that someone could get answer about the 8013 but nothing to be found.

So the question remains
So.... With all that has been said the question still remains. Where and when is the update? There was a time, just recently, that you could not turn on the tv without seeing a Note 10.1 ad a thousand times. Now it is only occasional. They have moved on to the note 2.
You would think that with all of the tech sites and tech people that someone would know somebody at Samsung that would have an answer.
Why so silent about the 8013?
Is it an issue with the apple suit?
Are we just spoiled and impatient because we were not first?
You would think someone could figure this out.
It's a great question. You would think that with the 4th iPad, TF 700 as closest competition in the US they would get it out asap. They've pushed their GS3 with JB on almost all carriers in US (correct me if i'm wrong), their Note 2 had JB when released and almost all got the new update with more multitasking, all that's left of their top 3 would be the GN 10.1.
As an earlier posted stated some misgivings about the 8010 and 8013, i thought they were identical in hardware. The only difference methought, was some of the applications that were on the Note 10.1. Part of the reason other countries got the JB update I thought was 1.) They had GN 10.1 released to them before the US, 2.) Had cellular support 3.) Beta test for any hiccups. I've never known Samsung to have huge issues with their updates (except on cellular which is more carrier related and the 1 incident that could essentially wipe your phone with a html link) but i thought maybe some of these carriers made a big stink BEFORE their contract with Samsung saying they wanted JB by [certain date]. I know if Samsung doesn't get it out by that date they get fined or charged per day - but this is all a guess on my part. I can see the new 8020 getting JB before it gets released, because it's newer and has LTE. All i can think is that sadly this time around their wifi didn't get the update 1st.
If there was someway i didn't have to change my csc and essentially do a complete wipe on my 8013, i would upgrade to another version of the JB. If all i have to do is Odin the pda file of the UK version then i'll do it - i am getting anxious as all of us, but i refuse to lose my data this time around (yes i know about TI, i just prefer not to have to do it).
Perhaps we should write to the leaders of XDA and see if THEY can get a response out of samsung and post it on their main page. That or androidcentral. Android central posted when germany was getting the "premium suite" upgrade that it was a slow roll out - which made it seem like it was hitting all the different countries/regions separately and over time. Technically i guess this is correct, but i'm wondering if they just repeated what was written elsewhere or from the PR which didn't explicitly say whether it was just for germany, etc. (Although then the UK received it, etc.)
What us Wifi users are waiting on is when the 8010/8013 suite will be released from us, and so far, thanks to the success of the GN2 and GS3, we are what seems to be one of he last of priorities.
dtziheucdavis said:

It almost has to be a legal issue with Apple at this point. Portions of the trial are still ongoing so Its quite possible the Samsung lawyers are blocking anything that could fuel the fire, especially since Apple specifically moved to add the Note 10.1 and Android 4.1 to the lawsuit.
Sad that Verizon was faster on the s3 than Samsung was on their so called "flagship" product. Never thought that would happen either. At least I now have JB on something
Then why would Samsung continue to release updates to their US carrier partners such as Verizon with the gs3? The premium suite is essentially the same across the board with except of UI and how its implemented.

Touchwiz 6 and Android 4.2.2, will we get it? [YES!]

*** EDIT ***
Aparently a list of devices that will recieve 4.2.2 has just been leaked and Galaxy S2 is among them. Hurray!!
You can take a look at the list here: http://www.sammobile.com/2013/03/18...roid-5-0-for-the-galaxy-s-iii-galaxy-note-ii/
*** EDIT ***
So guys, with the announcement of Galaxy S4 all I wanted to see was how Samsung would implement Touchwiz on Android 4.2.2.
I'm probably one of the few around here who actually like Touchwiz, hahahahaha.
So I started watching a bunch of Hands-on videos of Galaxy S4 and noticed a few design changes that pleased me a lot.
1- Configuration screen is now divided into 4 tabs. Much more organized than stock Android.
2- Notification Bar now has the new button from Android 4.2.2 and Samsung used it to show all widgets (wifi, gps, etc).
Five widgets still remain fixed for fast access and I don't know if they can be edited. Probably yes.
3- Lockscreen now has widgets as expected. But I noticed lots of Samsung widgets in there including a player widget for fast access to play/pause, etc.
It seems Samsung loved this new feature and used it really well (better than having CM 10.1 and it's exclusive CLocK widget xD).
4- Status Bar is now transparent. This is something lots of people use to mod here in XDA so all I can think is Samsung is listening to us or at least peaking at XDA sometimes to see what people are doing with their phones. This is actually pretty awesome
5- Lots and lots of new Camera modes! I believe some of them are actually possible to implement for Galaxy S2.
Others like double camera (back and front) might have hardware limitations.
6- Smart Play: a video you are watching will pause if you look away from the screen.
7- Smart Scroll: tilting the device and moving your eyes will scroll a page on the Web or in the Gallery.
Moving your hands in the air to do the same thing is not yet clear if it uses the front camera to recognize the action or one of the new screen sensors.
8- Lots of new apps. S Voice Drive, S Translator, S Choice, New ChatON, etc.
9- Air touch? This will probably never come but it's so cool
Anyway. Let's wait and see if Samsung plans to update Galaxy S2 one final time to give us some of these treats. What do you guys think? Sorry for any English mistakes. I'm writing from my phone. Also don't hesitate to highlight anything about the new Touchwiz I might have missed in this post

Not a chance in hell. Sam is done supporting us. I don't see a reason why they would continue supporting S2. Samsung is a commercial company and they want consumers buy their new products rather than supporting the old products for free.

Besides they have given us support more than any other companies. Do you see another 2 year old phone getting 4.1.2? If you think of it, Samsung is good
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I have a feeling Samsung will surprise us all. 4.2.1 is still Jelly Bean and most probably the last Jelly Bean Google will ever release. So it would be good for Samsung to update its devices to the last Jelly Bean and call it a quit once and for all.

Many devices less powerful then us will get 4.2.2 like galaxy grand and SII+ then why not the original galaxy SII?

The only tegra 2 device to NOT get ics we had one leak that has many issues and no kernel
its so serious devs are manually uart and jtagging the device and building a kernel from scratch.

Think about it this way, the SGS2+ is still a brand new phone on the market, and how will people feel who have just purchased it?
Same with the S3 mini which has near identical specs to us, they will have to update it, its only a few months old, and the update isn't exactly a major one.
Samsung's official statement is that they will bring the new features to their 'flagship devices' I know for sure the Note II, SIII and Note 10.1 fall under this category, but I'm not sure what else.
Also, I fail to see how our S2 can't support at least half of the new features.

Also, I fail to see how our S2 can't support at least half of the new features.

you cant complain because you have just purchased it. its replacement is about to be replaced. its been supported great in my opinion and i still love it.
We already got 2 updates, no way that Sammy will make 3rd one.
"From 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 to end with 4.2.2." Sammobile on Twitter.
Galaxy Note or Galaxy S2?

I consider most of those features mere gimmicks than things that are actually useful. Especially the things that use the camera, that'll probably scoop up a lot of battery life... And the status bar being transparent: if they would make it configurable, that would be a step ahead! If Samsung does bring 4.2 to the S II, that would definitely be a good thing. But like the others said, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Many not hardware related features in the
Samsung Galaxy S 4 are coming to the
Samsung Galaxy S III and S II
The Samsung Galaxy S III is still a top-notch
phone. According to Nick DiCarlo, Samsung's
vice president of portfolio planning, many of
the cool features that are in the Samsung
Galaxy S 4 will find their way to the Samsung
Galaxy S III.
"Anything that we can do that's not
dependent on hardware like infrared, we'll
definitely bring to all the flagship devices,"
DiCarlo said.
And that includes several of the new features
for the camera. Feature like Smart Scroll ,
Smart Pause, S Translator, S Health and the S
Voice Drive, to name just a few, eventually
join the Galaxy S III and perhaps even the
Samsung Galaxy S II as well.

There was no official mention of the Note 2 getting an upgrade to 4.3

It seems that there is some confusion on weather the Note 2 was mentioned as part of the handsets receiving the 4.3 upgrade this October.
The only phones mentioned were the S3 and S4. There was no other device mentioned.
Most online news sites have reported this. Sources :
Engadget
Android Authority
Sammobile
Andoid Spin
We will most likely get the upgrade. This is not a Samsung hate thread. I just wanna clear up the fact that the only devices that are covered by the update announcement are the S3 and S4. Samsung is most likely just giving the Note 3 more exclusive time with 4.3 and delaying our upgrades after the sales of their new phablet take off.

False , Note 2 is getting
What Engadget reported is not true. Here you go with the official demo by samsung. You can see that Note 2 is getting the 4.3 version by october this year.
http://youtu.be/oMr5gywv0zM?t=3m51s
He says the S3 and Note 2 will receive updates in October. Fair enough he doesn't actually mention android 4.3, but as far as I'm aware, the compatibility with galaxy gear requires Bluetooth 4.0 which is enabled through android 4.3? Not so sure about that last bit so please do correct me of I'm mistaken.
I hope we get the new features of the note 3, I quite fancy the look of the new s note and air command.

Hey I'm glad I read this post confirming N2 is due an update Oct '13. I had my doubts because other threads said N2 update was not mentioned at the unpacking.
I follow your reasoning that the update will likely be 4.3. Otherwise connectivity with the Gear will not be possible. It's been unequivocally stated that 4.3 bluetooth is required - where else would the capabilitycome from? Sammy want us to buy the Gear. It all ties in with rumors Sammy planned skipping 4.2 for 4.3

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Usually I'd think they would wait a couple more months to let the note 3 sales ride out before updating the note 2, but in the interest of getting the gear out there, they might just push it early.
I won't be buying a gear as its not for me, but if we get an early 4.3 update with the new note 3 features because of it, then I'm so very glad it's coming out!!
It's sucks
A year after the Note 2 was release and Samsung did not updated Note 2
that sucks, many other Devices had the 4.2.2 and 4.3 and im in 4.1.2
Wifi drains my standby battery like there's no tomorrow. No such problem on my Nexus 4 (or any HTC One S).
I sincerely hope 4.3 sorts this problem out.

I do, a ROM that doesn't utilize the Spen fully on my Note doesn't stick around my phone for long. what's the point of not using it if it's there? Might as well buy a Sammy Mega then:silly:

+1
Plus stock camera and samsung drivers are far beyond any other camera app in the market, CM and AOSP cameras are just pathetic and correct me if I'm wrong but even if S-PEN works in non-samsung based Roms, it doesn't detect the pressure of it.
So I'm still waiting for the update, then the great devs of this forum can do the magic.

Samsung has abandoned this tablet. Get over it.

Yes.
Probably in some custom rom based on it.
Yes.
Samsung since the beginning didn't take care about SM-P60x. They could crush IPAD Air with just few tv commercials but they decided to not to do it. And there is few of us who are still amazed by possibilities and disappointed by product support....
If my friend would not buy it I would go for Ipad Air since I believed it is the best tablet on the market or I would buy Sony Xperia z2 tablet since Sony pays extra cash to most of tablet orientated sites to shout that it is no1 tablet with Android system..buahahahaha...
Still they released 4.4.2 XEO yesterday and I am so far happy with new changes which makes it more useful(adding more multiwindow apps and profiles). Wish they made more schemes to SNote and work more on changing hand writing to text function so it will work better and more professional, but I do not believe that they will do anything more for our Note
Best Regards.
Thanks everybody....

What do you mean "do not get"? What's this?
For 601 - http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-P601
For 600 - http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-P600
For 605 - http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-P605
Android devices updates windows is 18 months. So Android 5.0 will come to Note 2014 too. Just need to wait very long time before get it.
@Nik_SV in EU as far as I can tell only Spain has KitKat and since @Hudrator is from Germany he doesnt have KitKat nor do I in the UK.
So he is right we (in Europe) are hardly getting KitKat at the min.

Important for you to wait for the update OTA? What prevents flash firmware to another region through Odin? All firmware is multi-language.

What he said. If my sprint tab3 got kitkat this will def get L
But guys, the tablet isn't even one year old and it is a premium one, not any cheap device from Samsung. I am a little bit worried since it doesn't belong to PRO series but it still has 2014 in its name, it doesn't mean a lot but... Anyway, I honestly think we are gonna get it but arround december or only janaury.
My biggest fear is that only LTE version has cyanogenmod and 3G and Wifi version don't have it.
If it makes anyone feels better .I have had this tab since launch last year...Still on 4.3jb rooted and love it.....Kit Kat sucks ...

I've upgraded to 4.4.2 few days ago and I love it. Finally more apps in multiwindow option and profiles which are very useful for me. Still there is no additional templates to SNote but I can live without it. Hope they will add more one day.
Main problem is that Samsung did not use full potential of this tablet and did not put any marketing effort to make it more popular. This is why we are afraid that just like with accessories we will not be getting more system updates.
Nexus 6 plus 8/9 for me. Out goes 10.1 aand S4.

The Note-series is and always has been about creation and productivity. Good luck trying to replicate that on a Nexus device. Many people here bought the N10.1-14 for consumption which really undersells its value, uniqueness, and potential. To each their own.
The N10.1-14, Pro's, and S' all use the same h/w and with the exception of M-UX being omitted on the N10.1-14 similar s/w. The S' will most likely get 5.0 first. It wouldn't be hard to port the code to the Pro's and N10.1-14 shortly thereafter. With 4.4 having been rolled out months ago for the N10.1-14 and N10.1-12 it's hard to believe some regions are still on 4.3. But it's hard to believe the almost two-year old N10.1-12 got 4.4 at all. So who knows what any specific device will get or when. My personal guess is that the N10.1-14 will get 5.0 primarily because of its commonality with other device definitely getting it. Timing? Who know. Time will tell.
