[Q] Live wallpaper changes and restricts lock effect to light beam?

Decided to try out having live origami as my wallpaper, I love it. subtle, not too distracting, low battery consumption and it changes regularly, perfect for my ADD for wallpapers.
However, when I go into settings>display>wallpaper>home+lock and change it to live origami, my homescreen changes no problem, the lock screen does too. But then it resets it to having the light-shaft unlock effect and greys out the option in the lock screen settings.
Is there anyway to prevent this or re-toggle the 'no effect'(just the icon of a lock)?
Did you figure it out
I'm having the same issue as you. Just wondering if you've figured this out already.

Change homescreen only. Can't have live wallpaper on lockscreen and have the light or ripples. Same thing on Note2 with ripple
I think it has to do with performance and possibly look. Samsung can't conttol what the interaction would look like between the live wallpaper and the ripple/light beam.

Kind of the opposite of what my isue is
it defaults TO the light effect and then locks it out from trying anything else. so I have live wallpaper and am forced into the light effect also

Lock Screen Weather Animation

Has anyone else noticed (on T-Mobile LG G2) that the animated weather from the lock screen doesn't always work? I found that the animated clouds only scroll by at night time.. Durring the day I can't get it to work when I go to my lock screen (either from Knock Knock, or Power Button).
Anyone else?
I've noticed it a couple of times. But only with clouds, rain appears without issue.
Sometimes with clouds there is a lag before they appear. But overall I'm happy enough.
I have also noticed this. It seems at times that it is related to the Jelly Bean lock screen, that when the weather is displayed it is as a widget with a draggable window. When it is not displayed the default lock screen does not have a draggable area above the swipe to open area. Just my personal non-scientific observation.
I have the same issues when I use a third party launcher (Next 3D or Aviate). When I return to the stock launcher with the weather and clock widget on the home screen, it works just fine. I'm using a rooted D801.
For the life of me, I can't get the lock screen animation to work. I tried clearing cache, dalvik, nothing helps.
Anyone have any other ideas? I'm full stock, rooted.

Nope, have it on my home page.
Yeah, it seems that's the case here as well. It doesn't happen every time and not for all forecasts. For example; I get sunny and rainy animations, cloudy it doesn't show.

I have noticed that the weather animations don't work when the weather app shows it is cloudy. If it is sunny, raining, or snowing it work. But if it is cloudy there will be no animations

It is all base on your auto updates.
If your weather updates every 15 minutes you will only see the animation one time within those 15 minutes. if you unlock your phone more that once within that time frame you will not see the animation more than once.
see the highlighted text in the image.
not working for me also even i flashed 4.2.2 again
My G2 lockscreen weather animation was working well. Showing sun rays on sunny days, cloudy, raining basically all weather. But since I upgraded to 5.0.1 I have'nt seen nothing at all. Could it be it has not been raining maybe only rain will show.

Live Wallpaper and lockscreen light effect

Since updating to kitkat, it seems I cant have a live wallpaper on the lockscreen and the slide to unlock light effect or the ripple for that matter, the lockscreen changes to the circles with padlock in the middle when I put a live wallpaper on the lockscreen. The lockscreen effect option in settings is also greyed out. Is this just something I cant do now on kitkat or is there a way round it?
Cheers
Light/Ripple effects were always available only for static lockscreen wallpaper.
update: hmm.. just checked on 4.3 - light effect works on S4.
I remember on S3 ripple effect(on old 4.1) worked only on static wallpapers.
update2: only light effect works. ripple doesn't work with live wallpaper on 4.3. Even option to change effect is grayed out.

I've had the light effect with live wallpaper for nearly a year since I got my s4, only just updated it though been on 4.2 since I got it. Why did they disable it? worked perfectly on jelly bean.
It makes me wanna more to stay on 4.3. I still can't find the reason why i need 4.4. Even ART is not available in TW 4.4 ROMs.

Can someone tell me, how I can add a weather widget on my lock screen?
Found this polygon wallpaper. The colors look really nice on my gold edge.

There's a lot of apps you can download that changes the lookscreen and adds customizability
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cmcm.locker&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.appplus.hilocker&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.acdisplay
do any of these work with fingerprint scanner? CM says it does, but i don't see the option in their menu -- just pattern or password.

Guys, can I hijack this thread to ask if your backlight is on when you use a pure black wallpaper as your lock screen wallpaper?
My blacks are pure black when I open my screensaver in the gallery (if i tap the screen to remove the UI, I can't see the screen at all in a dark room) and it's the same for most screens except for the lock screen. In the lock screen it almost appears gray or it appears like it's affected by backlight bleeding. Just wanted to find out if it's a software bug (since it's almost like the Night Clock bug) or if it's a defect with my phone. I also cleared my cache with no success.
Also, how do you take a screenshot of the lock screen?

Not sure if they work with the s6 edge, might have to wait for that support. I'll personally just wait for xposed to be updated so i can get fun stuff like wanam xposed, and just live with the current launcher, as i really like the fingerprint scanner.

You can change wallpaper by long pressing on an empty space in the homescreen. It goes into edit mode and you will see a wallpaper icon and label at the bottom left. Tap that and you are directed to another menu to select whether to apply your wallpaper to just your home or lockscreen or both. You can also go to settings>wallpaper to change wallpapers.
As for the weather, the design changes accordingly with the theme you choose.
Hope this helps.

Tap on your homescreen weather widget. Go to more>settings>show weather information. Profit.

Press home+powerkey simultaneously to get a screenshot anywhere in your phone.
Thanks so much for sharing guys. I wonder if there's a way to get rid of that white status bar I have in the lockscreen. It just looks so ugly. Hopefully an upcoming FW update from my carrier would fix it. :fingers-crossed:
Does someone know how to get the wallpaper the S6 gets when it's on update mod? Blue cyan w/bugdroid on the middle. I really love it
Simple look.

Why the need to change that? You only see that when there's an update. Do you get an update every hour?

Remove Lockscreen Clock etc.

Does anyone know how to remove the Clock on the Lockscreen? I Don't mean the AOD. I searched and a few people wondered but got no answer. I am rooted and can perform actions that require it. Help Somebody
anyone?
Try here there's one that just removes the clock and leaves the date and other text aswell I believe. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ion-ui-overlay-overlays-t3604341/post73076098
I'm not rooted but that lockscreen clock is terrible.
I just want to change it to the same horizontal one I use on the aod screen but seems you can't.

There is a terrible hack to get rid of the horizontal clock:
Enable display of notifications and always have at least 1 notification showing at a time. If there is a notification, it will draw horizontal because there isn't room for vertical.
See?
