Remove Lockscreen Clock etc. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Does anyone know how to remove the Clock on the Lockscreen? I Don't mean the AOD. I searched and a few people wondered but got no answer. I am rooted and can perform actions that require it. Help Somebody

anyone?

Try here there's one that just removes the clock and leaves the date and other text aswell I believe. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ion-ui-overlay-overlays-t3604341/post73076098

I'm not rooted but that lockscreen clock is terrible.
I just want to change it to the same horizontal one I use on the aod screen but seems you can't.

There is a terrible hack to get rid of the horizontal clock:
Enable display of notifications and always have at least 1 notification showing at a time. If there is a notification, it will draw horizontal because there isn't room for vertical.
See?

HTC clock widgets constantly fidgeting

Does it bother anyone else that whenever you switch back to the home screen, the clocks reset the hands and do the little animations to spin to the correct location? The flip clock does it like it used to in TF3D too, the numbers flip over until they catch up. It seems such a waste of time and cpu cycles. I've tried the default Android clock and it is much calmer, it is always at the correct time regardless of whether you switch back or not. The down side is it isn't as attractive and doesn't take you to the clock app when you press on it.
Anyone else annoyed by this?
Indeed I find it a little annoying...not tried the different clock....
one question, are you able to change the type of clock on your profile?
I seem to be only be able to select different front clocks under different profiles (Scenes) so you are stuck with that clock for that scene?

You can just remove it, then add an HTC Widget and select 1 of 12 clocks (think its 12)

Genuie!!!!! Thanks dude!!!
I also found that when I changed my clock to the small one (so it still fits in the same space on the home screen), my Hero became much more responsive. It still adjusts the time with an animation every time I go to the home screen, but it seems way better. Others have suggested removing the People widget, but for me it was just a change of the clock.
Bugs the hell out of me, so much so I had to remove it.
Hope the new update fixes this problem.

I like seeing the clock flip over! I'm sure it does it by design too, it's not a fault/bug.

It is a fault, the clock widgets can't store the time. So everytime you enter the idle screen it updates the clock.

I don't believe it's a fault either, judging by the way it is animated. It is just designed not to update whilst not visible.
Regards,
Dave
Most if not all of the HTC clock widgets do the animation.
However, on the leaked video of the new speedier ROM, I notice the clock never updates like that, even though it is the big one with weather combined. It just changes immediately, so maybe that is part of the speed up...
i use the smallest one, digital, but not a flip. number 5 i think it is.
yes, if you look closely you can see it update when you go back to the homescreen, but it is so fast, most of the time i don't notice it, and i'm certainly not gonna sit there trying to see it happen, cos it's really not that important to me...
Maybe they added a setting to enable / disable clock animation ?
Hope so as I quite like it.
On the CDMA Hero there seems to be a bug... IN the Clock app, home location and current location show the correct time but most HTC clock widgets insist on displaying the GMT time. What's up with this?

how to remove clock from notification bar?

is there any way to remove the clock from the notification bar? if your have something like beautiful widgets running it looks almost stupid having 2 clocks there. or at least have the option in settings to keep the clock or remove the clock?
i can understand the other aspect of when your in applications people would like to see the time in the notification area. but i just wana see if i miss it or not.
i gave it a quick google, and most of the responses were fairly old and for different handsets. just wondering if it is possible?
im running SuperE 1.0.1 on a 32A, cheers!
something to try.
check your spareparts app (mine is ver. 2.1_update1) it has user UI tweak at the bottom.
Clock can be set to hidden. (may not work)
while your are there, make the clock color to match your status bar. In case the hide clock part didn't work. (try transparent as well)
yeah in cyanogen's latest rom he includes a modded spareparts app that lets you control this. maybe you can rip it out of his rom and put it into yours if your version isnt the same. maybe can you download it from the market as well, not sure if that version is up to date.
thanks buddy! had no idea i should even look in there =)
the hide clock option doesnt work for some reason, even after rebooting. but changing the transparency to nothing hides it.
only thing is now it leaves an ugly gap where the clock used to be lol. i need to try find a way to remove it completely!

I tried hiding mine as well one day (a week ago maybe?), and it didn't work. Then yesterday I noticed, out of the blue, there was no clock in the notification bar. LoL So it did remove it, eventually.
it works just fine you'll just have to reboot a couple times
rightly so! i was wrong before, it does work. like losinc said u just need to reboot a couple of times. the changing of colour of the clock works too. just took a few times to get it right =)
thanks for ur help guys!
i had problems changing colors in cm 5.0.7 so i updated to 5.0.8t1 and it worked at once

How To Remove Lock Screen Widgets (Clock)

Hey guys I've got another question. Does anybody know how to remove the clock from the lock screen?
I've gone through Setting>My Device>Lock Screen and have everything turned off.
I've even downloaded an app called "Lockscreen Policy" which has an option to disable Widget and/or Camera, I've switched both of them off as well. I don't remember the app saying anything about needing root to work.
Really annoying that the stupid clock is covering my Lock Screen Wallpaper especially when the Notification Bar is on the Lockscreen and that has a clock on it anyway.
Thanks in advance.

If you swipe down from the clock it will expand the widget. You can then long press it and drag it to the trash can that appears at the top of the screen.
Be aware, though, that if you do not have any widget there you will just see a screen with a big "+" sign asking you to add a new widget and once the phone locks the clock widget will reappear. The only way to get it to go away permanently is to replace it with a different widget.
Hope this helps.

You should disable the stock lockscreen all together and give WidgetLocker a try. It works really well on my wife's Note 2, and it's super customizable.

I try this and is says "unable to edit in security mode". I understand I may need to "unlock" the phone w/ the security code - but how do I get back to remove the lock screen clock if I do that? I am trying to get Dashclock Widget going, but this is blocking me.
Any thoughts?

Solved it
Hi, folks -- registered just to report that I have solved this problem. Download Minimalistic Text (free), though I'm sure you already have it. Enable Multiple Widgets on the phone, then add a blank Minimalistic Text widget. Delete your clock as described above and enjoy.
even easier: Blank Lockscreen Widget (Play Store)

This has probably already been mentioned by now but for those still strugglimg with this. Drag down the screen from were the message and clock is. Click the pen looking icon to edit delete txt and uncheck clock if that is not required. Then press save in the top right and your lock screen will be clear :good:

Drag down the life companion message and click edit. Delete text and uncheck clock if also not required then press save. No app or root required just needs to be edited from the lock screen. May need to disable your lock security while you edit. Hope this helps
hide lock screen clock Android 4.3
Hey guys,
I recently got a Note 3 discovered that you cannot remove the lock screen clock. Simply doesn't allow you the option to.
But I found a way to hide it using the "personal message" feature.
Turn personal message on in the lock screen options menu.
Simply uncheck the clock and date boxes and space across a single character (as it won't allow you to have no text but will allow you a space which is invisible anyways..) and then hit save.
So then the next time you go to wake up your phone the lock screen clock will be gone!
I really don't like the way you are literally forced to have a lock screen clock!?!?
I often change my lock screen and desktop wallpapers and don't like the screen to be cluttered with text I don't want to see..
I have only tested this method on my Galaxy Note 3 so I am unsure if this will work on other Android phones..
Also what I have found strangely enough is normally there would be a half to one second lag for the display to sleep when I lock the phone.
This lag seems to have all but gone now that I specified a personal message (even though its blank) and hid the clock & date. Bonus!!
Hope this helps. Apologies if this has been previously covered..
Have fun!

Thanks so much for this now if I can just find away for it not to show that you have a text message on the lock screen things will be great.
FIxed.
Hay guys.
Sorry for the late reply. But I found a way to remove everything on lockscreen...
Date, time and also the unlock icon and rings.
But for now to remove clock simply allow lockscreen widgets then download zooper widget and replace your stock clock widget with an blank zooper widget.
Hope i helped.

[Q] Notification bar on lockscreen

Hi all,
Is it possible to disable the pull-down notification bar on the stock lockscreen? It happens a few times, that my phone wakes up due to a sms, and then gets opened in my pocket due to the notification bar.
Thanks for your advice in advance!

Yeah, in the meanwhile I realized, that if a set a pin / pattern / whatever security, the notification bar will be disabled, though I always used my phone with only the swipe to open lockscreen. Seems I have to change now.
Other option would be widget locker, but that will just get killed at random times (even though I don't use any taskkiller).

There's a lot of apps you can download that changes the lookscreen and adds customizability
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cmcm.locker&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.appplus.hilocker&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.acdisplay
do any of these work with fingerprint scanner? CM says it does, but i don't see the option in their menu -- just pattern or password.

Guys, can I hijack this thread to ask if your backlight is on when you use a pure black wallpaper as your lock screen wallpaper?
My blacks are pure black when I open my screensaver in the gallery (if i tap the screen to remove the UI, I can't see the screen at all in a dark room) and it's the same for most screens except for the lock screen. In the lock screen it almost appears gray or it appears like it's affected by backlight bleeding. Just wanted to find out if it's a software bug (since it's almost like the Night Clock bug) or if it's a defect with my phone. I also cleared my cache with no success.
Also, how do you take a screenshot of the lock screen?

Not sure if they work with the s6 edge, might have to wait for that support. I'll personally just wait for xposed to be updated so i can get fun stuff like wanam xposed, and just live with the current launcher, as i really like the fingerprint scanner.

You can change wallpaper by long pressing on an empty space in the homescreen. It goes into edit mode and you will see a wallpaper icon and label at the bottom left. Tap that and you are directed to another menu to select whether to apply your wallpaper to just your home or lockscreen or both. You can also go to settings>wallpaper to change wallpapers.
As for the weather, the design changes accordingly with the theme you choose.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for sharing guys. I wonder if there's a way to get rid of that white status bar I have in the lockscreen. It just looks so ugly. Hopefully an upcoming FW update from my carrier would fix it. :fingers-crossed:
