[Q] Low storage issue - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am currently running cm-11-20140324-NIGHTLY-vs980 on my Verizon LG G2 and have run into low storage issues. I have posted a screenshot showing this below. I should have used 16.81GB out of ~24GB, with ~7.2GB left over. However, somehow I am missing storage space and only have 2.7GB available.
When I installed cyanogenmod, I don't remember creating a partition and cannot figure out how I would determine this.
I am using clockworkmod 6.0.4.7 if that helps.
How can I hunt down that missing storage space?
Thank you!

It's in miscellaneous storage

If you add all of it up, the used space should leave me with ~7GB. However I have ~2GB left so that leaves 5GB unaccounted for that are not in misc.

Same for me on my d802 from 32 i have 24.5 and this is ok.
But i have as used space 16.5gb and it tell me that i have 4gb free, so...
24.5-16.5 should be something like 8gb... :/ also file managers tell me that i have used 16.5gb as total, i cant understand where i lost the space, missing about 4gb, wiping cache didnt solve the problem.
I am on cm12.1 based on temasek

Ok finally solved
Idk why wiping didnt delete this file.
Thanks to Disk Analizer i found that Internal Storage has 16gb but Media show 20.
Damn files were here /data/media/obb/ probably old obb file of games.
My obb now are stored in /data/media/0/android/obb.
The files in previuos folder arent used too. I still dont understand why they were not deleted.
However solved, i hope this can help sameone without wiping all partitions or use kdz

What's using my internal memory?

The numbers in the attached screenshot do not add up. What's possibly abusing my internal memory that wouldn't be listed? And how do I access these locations to free up memory?
I know that some places like clockworkMOD backups aren't listed, but I've been through normal locations and can't find the culprit. Can Google drive take up space (even with no offline file sets)? I ask this as when watching the last backup that I made, the data backup took a long time and listed many Google drive only files (none set for offline access). However, when I look in data I can't find these ???
I'm running C&C 1.3.1 with Broken kernel.
TIA

Try installing DiskUsage to find out what is taking up your precious storage space.
Very strange.

happens also with me, do you have backed up apps with a app as titanium backup or do you have cwm backups ? A cwm backup can easily take 2-3 gb. These aren't listed.
Edit: Sorry didn't read your post well.

They could just be temporary files which should be removed when you reboot. 3rd party disk usage tools might list that space as System Reserved or System Files.
I've had over 5 gigs used by these types files on my Galaxy Nexus several times, and rebooting restored that space, but it's possible that they're removed on the fly as more space is needed, since I never actually got any warning that I was running low on space when I had around 1 gig left.

Thanks all. This app above really helped to see things. Clockwork MOD backups use a ridiculous amount (the blobs folder separate from the backup is insane), and as suggested, so do tibu backups. Between these two (only one backup on each) 6.7gb was being occupied.

Internal memory

Hey guys,
My brother bought a LG G2 six months ago (the 16 GB version) and it's a great phone, but has one problem... internal memory. The phone only has 16 gb, and the OS takes up to 9Gb, and he doesn't have space to install some apps.
What can he do to solve this problem? Install Custom ROM? Cleaning the device with some kind of software? I've already used SD Maid to clean some stuff, but the problem is still there, the OS still eats lots of space.
Thanks!
Go to System settings > General > Storage then screenshot and post here.
There's literally no way that just OS (if stock) takes 9 GB. Must be some preloaded bloat apps.

Here it is. It's in portuguese, but I think it's easy to understand. As you can see, it only shows 10 Gb available. So... Where are the remaining 6gb? (I know I've said it was 9gb, but it only 6).
Thanks.

Given that scrot, everything is fine. 10.6 GB is available on 16 GB model (rest is system reserved as OS and system apps needs to go somewhere; it's like hard drive on your PC - OS will take some space).
However, there's 4.7 GB of applications so delete something if it's not needed. In case these are HD games, heh, there's a problem. Go to apps, sort 'em by size and examine those biggest ones if games are not in question.
Also clear some cached data (turquoise colour on that screenshot, right under downloads). It's approximately 500 MBs.

Try SD Maid, it's been one of my favorite play store purchases. Make sure to go thoroughly through the settings and options, their are extra things u can scan for that aren't enabled by default. Also take note of folders listed in the CorpseFinder since not everything listed are truly corpses it will think your TWRP folder among others are Corpses so make sure to add things to the Exclusions list. Double check the SystemCleaner too. It is a very powerful app with many features.

SPH-L720 Partitions

Last week, after running some updates from the Play Store, I received out of storage notifications.
Had a look around the phone, and realised there is a 2GB cache partition, that is largely unused.
I had used Odin to flash OK3 firmware, downloaded from SamMobile, a while back. I vaguely remember that Odin did failed with a message about PIT, but on the second run, it completed without an error. The phone has been running well since then.

Bump
Sent from my mobile communication device.
Can somebody pull a pit file from their SPH-L720 and post it here, please?
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/sphl720.pit bs=8 count=580 skip=2176
I would really appreciate it...

Yes the cache partition is 2GB because this is where OTA files are downloaded to. It is to ensure there is always enough space to download an update as some of them are over a GB. There's a mod called SwapItOn that lets you use this space for a large swap file (whatever size you want, mine is over 1 GB) to help give you some extra RAM.
Thanks for the reply Ryan.

You have this feature already avaible in the stock rom, why would you try another things ? I use the SD Card as the internal storage from the first day i bought this phone. Is working like a charm, everything, and when i say everything i mean EVERYTHING is going on SD Card. Photos,Apps,data/obb,everything. Just go to settings->Advanced settings->Memory-> and set the SD Card as default memory. (Android MM) It s almost the same on LP,the only thing is that you don't have the Advanced settings tab,you find the Memory in the main page.

No. Our phone doesn't support this feature.

Isn't that SD Card set as default memory so all the things go into it like it was the internal memory ?
