[Q] Any All-F2FS Kernel with reclaimed 18MB+ of ram - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was any development of more All-F2FS kernels that have 18MB+ reclaimed ram. I'm currently running SlimKat 3.8 with "All" partitions formatted to F2FS "/system, /data, /Internal Storage And /Cache". Here's the ref http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678142
Thank you in Advance :fingers-crossed:

Thanks, just wondering. Would it be OK just to wipe cache and dalvik in order to dirty install the new slimkat version of 3.10 from 3.8

see i ll try to explain ... when we r talking abt F2FS that needs only the kernel support . also under F2FS only the /data partition is formatted as F2FS ( atleast for mirage and slim kernel ) .... for using the hellsdoctor r29 u need to format both /cache and /data as F2FS ...of course its done using a special recovery ..( i m assuming u know abt that ) ...
BUT when it comes to All-F2FS , the /system ,/ cache and /data all three are to be formatted under F2FS (thats why called ALL-F2FS) .. it also needs a special twrp recovery other than f2fs one ....
for the time being all-f2fs is quite disadvantageous because u ll lose rom support ... unlike f2fs ,, ALL-F2FS needs both rom and kernel support ... and currently only slimkat has one all-f2fs supporting rom .... so better stick with just F2FS ...
p.s. i am myself running Purity ROM + hellsdoctor r29+F2FS

OH okay, so kernels that have CM versions are meant for CAF roms, and then kernels that don't say CM are meant for GPL or AOSP roms, right?

The phone is now getting really buggy, would it be because I'm using a nightly of PAC? I was configuring all my settings and personalizing the phone, when suddenly, the volume for media wouldn't turn on, the recent apps and back softkey will respond to touch but won't do an action, and the keyboard won't come up in any field that requires a keyboard. What happened?
What keyboard are you using? Boot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache. If it doesn't work, do you have a backup you can restore to that worked fine? What kernel? A full wipe should fix it. But remember, always backup.
Happy to help you further!

I'm using the stock Android keyboard. I was utterly stupid and forgot to make a Nandroid. I've tried wiping the caches but nothing changed. I'm using Matr1x 13.5 GPUOC.
Oh, wipe everything should work. But take a backup

[Q] Kernel flash --> Black screen

Hey,
first of all my specs:
Note 3 (SM-N9005) international LTE (hlte)
C-ROM with stock Kernel
TWRP 2.7.2.0
so... whenever I try to flash a custom Kernel my screen stays black after the Samsung Bootlogo showed up.
My steps are:
Create Nandroid
Flash Kernel which is confirmed to work with this version of the rom
wipe cache/dalvik
reboot
Anyone else has this problem? Or even solved it already?
Any help would be really appreciated!
cheers

C-RoM meaning the 7.1 version? @aways version?
You can only use lean 3.1 or temasek 3.76 without black screen. As soon as I read this thread I knew this was it. Don't know about the people who replied above....
C-rom Kang by Vikas wil allow for use of Lean 3.7 make sure you are downloading the HLTE AOSP version not the touchwiz versions.
Thank you all so much guys! Finally it worked!! Looks like it was TWRP that didn't let me flash another kernel... With latest Philz CWM, C-ROM 7.1 and temasek 3.76 it worked like a charm! @mods solved --> close please

I did actually but you'll need an f2fs compatible kernel like sabermod Franco kernel.
Everyone says you need an f2fs compatible ROM but that has not always been my experience. I've used it with just an f2fs kernel and it worked.
I no longer use f2fs though. I use ext4 with journaling off. I understand it is the same thing and my phone is just as snappy.

Yes, there is F2FS support! I use my own kernel for builds, which should give nearly the same battery life as Render and B14CKB1RD kernel

No screens at the moment since my G2 is getting fixed, and download links will be up when builds are finished, got a silly build error before going to bed last night. There are no known bugs at the moment.

/data
/cache
/system can be formatted to f2fs provided the rom you use supports this partition type. But currently I leave it as it is (ext4).
Don't forget to backup your files in user data to your PC as changing partition type will wipe your internal data as well.

As others have said, no sounds. Seems like you've figured that out already though.
I'd be glad to test the F320 version once it released.
Thanks!
By the way, I've noticed that this Mahdi ROM uses one base ROM and multiple patches for every version of the phone. Maybe this implementation would make it easier to maintain Euphoria?

Right, I was looking at that. It could work, I would just have to go through and find all of the device specific files, and it would take some time to set up a zip like that, but I am considering it.
Cool, I was messing around with the f320 ramdisk and stuff (It uses a different ramdisk from the other devices due to having to mount the SD card), and it should now support F2FS for /data and /cache., along with some other tweaks.
