[Q] Droid razr m - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my phone is a droid razr m (xt907). Whenever i turn it on it has an error com.android.phone isn't working, and text messaging crashes. Whenever i try and factory restore it, it goes to the fastboot screen when i turn it on, and it won't let me boot into recovery.

Try going to the recovery. You used the wrong key combination? Hold BOTH volume keys then press power.
Or if you're unlocked and still on stock ROM, just use a custom recovery and flash another ROM

Did you do anything to the phone, ie. try to modify it at all? We need some background info if we're going to help you out.

If the "sticky bit" error was set by your performing a previous fastboot command which failed then you may flash this harmless logo. This is a all in one fastboot/adb file that needs to be unzipped.

[Q] Really need help stuck at recovery screen

I just reset mytouch 4g phone and during restart the recovery screen just come out but I can't move down or up anything on the screen it just stuck..
I just update cm to version 3 of something
please I really need help on this my phone is already S-off
when I plug the phone with USB it response something by HBOOT has changed to HBOOT USB PLUG
I use Stock Rom just update Kernal only
Need more specifics. "3 of something" is too vague.
If you flashed clockwork mod recovery 3 (the text is orange) while using a stock ROM you will have issues. Clockwork 3 is for gingerbread based ROMs only.
If that is so, download CyanogenMOD 7 RC1 and try to flash it. Rebooting may help get recovery working right again. If not, and you are unable to re-flash a ROM, you will need to use fastboot to re-flash a good recovery image.

In clockwork you use the trackball to navigate. Volume buttons won't work.

no response on trackball too. it just stuck on this screen and can't move anywhere....any solution
Your attached image is of the Bootloader, not CWM Recovery.
The Bootloader is controlled by volume up / volume down to move between selections, and the power button is used to select.

when I turn the phone on everytime it just show this bootloader and no response on all volume up/down and power button...only way to turn off is to unplug battery ....
You might see if the Bootloader can communicate with fastboot on your PC. If so, you will have options for un-bricking from your PC.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928370 for info on installing adb and fastboot to your PC, and using them.
Fastboot is designed to communicate with the bootloader. As far as I know, however, adb requires a functioning Android or Recovery system.

One more question, after following your advice, I found that I now can restart my phone again but when I shut down the phone and turn it on again it still stuck on bootloader screen all the times...any suggestion would be appreciate...
You can "restart my phone again" -- is it running Android at that point? If so, you can restore your phone to stock, and do a full factory reset, by putting the P15IMG.zip file on the root of your SD card and rebooting. The bootloader (if it is functional) should find it and begin the restore procedure.
Dowload, rename this, and stick it on your SD card, and reboot. If after a successful return to factory defaults, your phone still isn't working, the problem is likely not software.

[Q] Help! Tried to flash PA & now stuck on a loop

Ok, I flashed Trinity kernel with no issues, phone booted up ran great. Then I pushed PA to my phone to flash using the Nexus Root Toolkit and when it rebooted me into TWRP, I proceeded to wipe sys and dalvik and try to flash the zip. It failed. No big deal, some of my flashes have failed before on this N7. Not sure why, but I usually just reboot and press on. This time however, as it starts to boot I get a msg saying "unfortunately Setup Wizard has stopped" with an "ok" button, but when I press the "ok" button it just cycles back to the same button. I have tried powering down, but the Ok button sits on top of the power off confirmation button and so I can't even turn it off to reboot into recovery mode. Anyone got any suggestions? The toolkit won't seem to reboot it into recovery either, not sure why unless the ok button is overriding everything. Help?
UPDATE: I managed to get the trick of hitting the ok button fast enough to get to the power confirm button behind it, but when I boot it into recovery mode, I get the droid with the red ! mark and can't seem to get it to do anything else. I have tried booting into recovery from Toolkit, but it says I need to put it into USB debugging mode, which of course I can't do because I can't get past the failed setup...
UPDATE: Ok, I have managed to finagle it into resetting to factory stock ROM. So I have it up and running again and just have to start from scratch. But at least I am able to.
How'd ya do that

Hold all three hardware buttons for 30 seconds and the device reboots to the bootloader. Then, fastboot flash the stock image.

You can get to the bootloader (fastboot mode) FROM ANY STATE.
Read that again - from any state.
See "bootloader interrupt" in this thread:

cheers

Nexus 7 hard bricked?!

hey
i got my new nexus 7 and wanted to flash a new rom, so i just downloaded this and the flashing tool from this thread.
i didnt root/unlock bootloader or anything else, i just used the tool and did all the steps.
Boot into fastboot,
Wipe my Data,
Install Recovery + Kernel Ability
there were some more steps, but after this my nexus didnt do anything (maybe because of the missing root or the not unlocked bootloader or whatever?!)
it just was stuck in the mode with the android laying on the floor and giving error codes.
so i thought i softbricked it and googled some tutorials to restore a stock rom.
i foundthis and it seemed to work, but it was a bit outdated
i didnt get a .zip from the developers.google.com page, just a .tar, so i couldnt do
Code:
fastboot -w update image-nakasi-jro03d.zip
i just shut down the device then and thought it could maybe already work, because i updated/replaced the bootloader or something like this with
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-grouper-3.34.img
but after rebooting it just shows me a completly black screen with a white "Google" in the middle and an open lock on the bottom.
it isnt responding to anything im doing, like pressing on/volume-buttons or connecting usb
the computer cant dedect it via adb with
Code:
fastboot devices
....
what can i do now? do i have to wait, until the battery is dead? this can take days...
i know i did something really stupid
is there any way to restore my nexus 7?
please excuse my bad english and please help me
thank you very much
Hold Power and both volume buttons until it goes off, then power it on while holding both volume buttons. When you see the android, Open Fast boot or a Nexus 7 tool and flash a stock image. You can get them from the Google Dev site. Hope this helps.

thanks for your help.
when i press power and both volume buttons the screen goes black after a few seconds, but it immediately reboots
Keep holding to volume buttons the entire time. It should go into the boot loader.

ok, thank you, it did. im too impatient
i connected it and it was dedected, thank your very much
i went to developers[dot]google[dot]com/android/nexus/images, is this the right google dev site?
i already downloaded this file and i only got a .tar when extracting it, but it seems like i need a .img
You could try and use the nexus toolkit. I haven't tried it, but it should be able to download and flash a stock img to your device from the bootloader.
Good Luck

Need help flashing stock recovery

Hi
I'm trying to return my device completely back to stock. I'm having some problems however.
I was running stock 4.2.1 with franco kernel.
I used this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
Everything seems ok, but when I try and go into recovery from the bootloader I just get a fallen android with a red triangle.
Theres no text or anything.
I have tried reflashing the recovery image but it makes no difference.
I downloaded the stock rom from here:
http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/nexus-4/
Can anyone help?
If it's of any help, my stock rom never had google wallet, the one I downloaded above does.
Thanks
It's because you don't have a custom recovery (like clockworkmod) installed anymore.
It still works as a recovery, but you have to hold powerbutton + click volume up when in there to make the options appear.
Thank you very much! I thought I had borked the recovery.

That IS the stock recovery. To access the menu, hold power and press volume up (on that screen).

P8 Screwed

So I had CM on my P8 before. I wanted to go back to stock, so I rebooted to fastboot and flashed stock recovery and also system.img. What I didn't realize was that I had flashed again the CM system img instead of stock. Now, phone is stuck on the bootanimation in CM and wont boot.
Trying to go to recovery just results in a black screen flash and then reboot to Huawei logo again. Holding the down volume button and powering up, or holding both up and down and powering up doesn't get me into bootloader/fastboot. Even before this the combo key never got me into fastboot.
What do I do?
Thank you.

It kept on rebooting from the black screen., maybe 4 times or more. I just persistently held the button combo till I got into fastboot.
