Oh my goo00d!!!! Moderators???
@Vaith @randymess He's telling everyone that titanium could be causing a possible wake lock. Why bash him for that?
In fact why bash anyone? There's no contribution when your comment is negative, it helps no body and solves nothing, just a little ego boost for yourself.
KitKat is a new base for us and any issue or thought is helpful, don't just knock someone for attempting to contribute, whether you agree with it or not.
Thanks dladz,
Was a force stop on titanium rather than I'm just stopping using it.
And yes I thought new firmware and lots of people suffering from poor battery life

Quick question. Have you got 4.4 Kit Kat on your Z1 yet?
@dladz You absolutely right, I remember one thread started by you, it was closed due the hijacking against you for some reason, happen to me too many times, it's like something what we are saying irritate people.

It's cool man, i got shot down the other day, theres no need for it.
I've heard quite a bit of people complaining about battery life along with a load of other issues, I had it on my phone for a few days but I ended up going back to 4.3 for my own reasons, I just found it a little more stable.
A full wipe would fix more than it's fair share of issues that people are having.
(not saying you didn't )

Haha, no worries
I asked for it to be closed as it was just going round and round.
I think the problem with a place like XDA isn't the concept of what XDA is all about, it's the mix of cultures and what some people deem acceptable behaviour, others may not.
I tend to take most of it with a pinch of salt but some people are just plain vindictive.
I've been on XDA and before that Villain Rom since the beginning of Android, it's supposed to be a place to help one another not bark orders or belittle someone because they either don't understand something or misunderstood something.
At least that's the way I think of it.
I'm not a saint either but I'd sooner help someone than make them look like a spoon.
Also i'm not alone in that thought, some of the people who i've met on here have been absolute legends and would do anything to help, far too many people to name but they know who they are.

Nah I mean like how did you get it on your phone? Via flashing it? If so does it work properly. Because I know it's not out on PC companion just yet, in the UK.

They probably didn't even think about this possibility. But since the dawn of Android it was a common feature that every app can write and access the SD card at will and if this is not possible, these apps are stuck and in a loop constantly trying to get access and this drains the battery faster than broken tyre loses air.

I know, this was clear to me, but how such a cracked mind do that without even think about it? Thousand scientist and engineers working on it. I really hate how they try to put us in this way, by force, trying to globalized all the devices as iPhones.

Yea m8, using flashtool you don't need to root your phone for that.
All part of the flashing process.
You don't need to root your phone nor unlock the bootloader to flash an FTF file.
it's simply a case of choosing the correct model number and just flash away (mostly)
You can always return to stock and you can always get back to where you was.
This is one of the greatest things about the Z1 i've found, i had a HTC One previously and i missed how you could flash rom's without the need to use a PC but with the Z1 it's so much easier to get back and remove root.
Sorry forgot to mention, obviously flash the correct type of FTF if you ever do, if you've never done it before then research it until you understand what youre about to do.

Hello all I got my first Nexus One yesterday I know I should root it but I've never dropped the cash I did for a device I know there is a chance of a brick. I need to let the newness wear off.
But the purpose of this post is any suggestions on specific apps for the Nexus I can try out in the market. There are some that Ive read in this forum some but maybe some were left out.
Thanks in advance.
Just sayin, but the only real chance of a brick is to let your battery die or pull it while flashing the radio. (to my understanding)
try the XDADevelopers app, it's pretty nifty.

Just make sure your battery is charged, you probably won't brick this phone unless your trying to.
While there's not much of a chance for bricking, it supposedly does void your warranty. Some people have been able to get work done even after unlocking though.
With that said, I thought the same thing and thought I would wait about a month before I unlocked it, but that lasted about 2 days lol.
I unlocked it and flashed Cyan's ROM and haven't looked back since.

If you didn't engrave it, don't root it yet. Use it for a week or two, make sure there's no reason to return/replace it due to some defect. If there is no reason, then root it =)
My only 2 reasons for rooting it are: WiFi tethering and Flashlight. Imo, there are no other real reasons to do it, stock rom is extremely well done and I didn't notice much difference between it and Cyan.
Just root it..you'll truly own your phone then. Unless you don't know how to read and follow instructions properly or are just plain incompetent..which I doubt you are since you found this forum~ the chances of bricking are low.
Root it and never look back.
Nah, give it a few days to let any hardware issues make themselves known, then root it if your of a mind.
If you don't root it, all you are going to be able to think about is rooting it. I say use it for a few days to make sure all the hardware is good and go for it. I think I lasted about 36 hours before giving in and I told myself that I wasn't going to do it!

I, too, have the same fears and concerns... so I've never really attempted to root the phone nor tried to. I guess I just like it the way it is.

My reasoning for wanting to root it, is so I can put the Desire rom on the device. I really enjoy the HTC Sense and android. The stock android on the Nexus One is fantastic I agree just IMO missing the Sense UI.

I think the battery indicator has a glitch that *Detection* has a temporary fix for. However, even partly broken, the ROM is fantastic. I would like to use it as a daily. I'm just not going to jump the gun on it. I'd like to see a little more in the configurable option department, like a reboot to recovery option in the shutdown menu. Removing the Phone.apk and Telephony.apk also. No real need for them as we stand. That's my 2 pennies so far. But, Paul has really gotten far for such a short time, and I'm excited to see where he takes it.

Risky considering you have no nvflash recovery should anything go wrong.
If you find you have no root / access to CWM you would be basically screwed.
I would listen to your sensible you this time and wait, yes it is bad having to wait, but worse if you brick your tablet.
ICS is nice, fast, but that soon fades with the current suspend / wifi bugs, I would advise waiting
Agreed. I've been in plenty of situations where CWM has saved me and always restored without a problem. It's just a shame i am not able to see the progress as it is happening and I can't be one of those people in the dev thread saying any updates?

The main thing is the kernal. Paul uses a different kernal to get ICS to function more smoothly. In the realm of sbk2, my main concern would be that NVflash doesn't work... and if something goes wrong, you are left with a really expensive coaster. With the rate that Paul has put out updates, it should be no time until we see a daily out of this.

Asking for updates is like asking for an eta..don't do that. These guys are doing this on their own time, it is disrespectful to be impatient.
And fyi guys, i have a B70 if it roots with razor claw and can install cwm, and as long as you don't flash over your recovery you should be able to rescue any bad rom/kernel flash. I guess if my recovery went screwy i would be SOL but so far I've not had a problem. Be patient, and check and double check every step.
Did you wipe dalvik? Factory reset? Better make sure before you flash that rom and do an md5 before you flash any recovery to be sure it didn't corrupt in the meantime..if you are really careful, patient, and read a lot, and i mean A LOT, before you flash you can get away with flashing an sbk2 safely. If on the other hand, you've never flashed anything before, and don't know EXACTLY what you are doing, then i wouldn't risk it.
Paul's ICS is great progress, but unfortunately far from being just a novelty due to the bugginess and loss of functions. I played with it for about 5 minutes before I decided it wasn't ready for prime time and went back to revolver

about asking for ETA doesn't meen your disrespectall ful, look at all the ICS questions that asus got, its not disrespectful, you ask's for something that is good to know when you can be able to prepare to leave Honeycomb and go to ICS. but in this case Paul is almost alone working on this. and i can see that asking ETA when he does this on freetime will make it much more harder to set a date! SO asking ETA Isn't Mean. you really show that something is wanted and can give the OP both glad and angry moment's......
Anyhow. The Work goes amazingly fast forward, i wish i had his schills

You do realize asking Asus for an eta, when they are a company selling a product, and asking developers who are working for free in their own time, are not the same thing right?
Read the rules. It says pretty explicitly.. Do not ask for eta's.
Well the ETA thing was a joke simply because every third post in the dev thread is got an ETA. Don't let the lack of posts fool you I have been around the block a few times. Also if I hadn't been reading I wouldn't have known that it was not recommend to install on sbk2 devices.

I think what the last post referred to is when you pay for a service it's ok to ask them(ASUS) for an ETA but when devs here (Xda) do it for nothing more than street cred, fun, or cause they want to it is not cool to ask for an ETA.

Ok, it isn't as explicit as I thought, but it has been pounded into my head because it's been repeated so many times over and over..
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376759
And Here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081035
OBKING77's video cites it here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzpixaIOwSg
This part IS in the guide (though not in the rules);
XDA-Devs is about developers & hackers helping each other and working together to get the most out of our devices by understanding them better than most.
XDA-Devs is not about helping everyone who wants a "Kewl bit of kit" make their phone better than the guy next to him.
Now do we go kicking users off who never contribute anything, NO. We tolerate it to an extent. Where the toleration ends is when these users start diluting the usefulness of the forum by repeating the same questions over and over again.

I've just read it so many times it's become a 'rule' in my head. Sorry I was not accurate when stating it was 'explicit in the rules'. But it is a matter of respect for the devs
I wonder if we could do a tally and see how many posts on xda are actually people asking for updates or etas? Probably be in the thousands if not more.
Anyways back on topic.... sorry about that i thought that the implication that it was a joke was pretty clear in the previous message.
So i do think i will try ICS out after i do my backups. I suppose as a trial it will be good.

What's wrong with the speaker?
it's too soft? That will be a bit too hard to fix through software optimization.

no its not, if Doom can boost speaker via kernel modification why cant they? are their developer that bad? SONY EITHER RELEASE THE CODE FOR DEVELOPER or do yourself a favor and update firmware to what the user need.
this is essentially them going through forums and copy dev ideas and release their own update. BS
people ***** when there is no update. They still do as the updates don't live up to their expectations. Really guys?

no how about looking at what Sony users wants/need and update base on that...not throwing out an update that Developer can basically do, is that what Sony paid their programmers to do? to copy code from developer and throw it out and call it an update?

Well I have been waiting for exactly this type of update from Sony.
Iam not rooted, I do not want to be flashing custom roms fixes etc etc, just like most general smartphone users.
This update is exactly what the xperia z needed asap.
4.2 and better camera software is all the xperia z needs and Iam sure we will be getting that soon too.
Iam glad sony chose to provide us with this update sooner rather than later, as it fixes the major common complaints the xperia z has been getting.
Low contrast perception = black menu Washed out, nor vibrant enough = white balance apk
Also
Perfomane update and other small improvements, hopefully will shut haters and trolls the f***k up.

it doesnt fix ANYTHING that user complain about, the main thing are camera post processing, speakers and wifi bug... if you would take 10 min to read the root instruction you would be able to install the white balance app.

Dude relax! If you don't like it, go and buy another phone, like a Samsung Galaxy S4, because we all know that gets some great, on-time updates.
Anyway, my phone has a great, loud speaker. While my girlfriend's phone doesn't, so that's basicly on a phone-to-phone basis and quite hard to optimize. Also the wifi-bug should be fixed in this update.
Regarding the white balance app, that's way too hard for a regular user to install while they are on a locked bootloader and not rooted. If you don't get that, please go bash on someone else.

1. you dont need unlock bootloader to root...and you certainly dont need unlock bootloader to install white balance app
2. Although it takes Samsung a while to update but they have an abundant of developer support, so back to what I was saying. If Sony dont do their job, the least they could do is release source so dev can better the phone. (not to mention whenever they (samsung) update their stuff, they actually listen to user needs)
3. Loud speaker is relative, what are you comparing that to? plenty of people report that the speaker is soft.
4.if they fix wifi they sure as hell dint put it in the change log. not that i care because i'm a pure data user, I'm just saying this is the main stuff users are complaining about.
As has been said, no need to get so worked up about it. In the thread discussing the next patch changes it was noted about WiFi being better.
It is not in Sony's interest to detail every change, they will usually stick to feature changes and vague statements about bug fixes. That way they can fix things people may not have noticed as well as things they have. Companies don't like airing lists of problems with their products in a changelog where they don't have to.

I'm not getting worked up, more like dissapointed..I dont even know why I bought their phone after I brought the Sony Google TV. that thing can never connect to the wireless internet. I'm surprise the screen still working after 2 years.
I really hate this phone, had I known how much of a headache this phone would be I would have just gave in and got a stupid iPhone. I am currently on 98.18.78 XT907 rooted with a locked bootloader (I used the work around after OTA update, wasn't previously rooted) I really don't need root. The only reason I wanted root was to install a custom ROM on my phone but when I finally got around to the idea of rooting my Razr M I was completely overwhelmed with all of the information and didn't even realize what I would and would not be able to do without an unlocked bootloader. I really don't want to mess around with safe strap... I don't want to mess around with anything anymore, this is all just a big mess and I will never get another Motorola product again for this.
...
Ok... Lets just say I am a little flustered and now I'm ranting, I'll try to just get to the point. My phone is rooted, it has safe strap installed (serving no purpose) and I mounted my external SD as internal memory by editing some lines of code (followed a tutorial). I want a clean slate. I want to be able to go back to stupid stock, because I would rather have the option of doing a restore to factory and not have to worry about freezing the updater, etc. Like I said, all I wanted root for was to load a custom ROM. Since that is such a headache right now due to lack of time, I would love to just have this phone back to stock, erase EVERYTHING, and just deal with it. Is this possible or am I stuck in limbo now until I get a new phone in a year?
I miss my Droid X soo much, even on gingerbread it was a better phone. :crying:

I don't post that much; I read a lot. There's been a lot of problems that people have run into with their M's but they ask for help when they, themselves, did something wrong with it.
I couldn't sit by and let the op say how he hates this phone when he did everything to it that caused the issues. If he just came on here and said that he needed help, he would've got a pat on the back and been helped.

Do you turn off your phone once or twice a week? I usually do for a few seconds. It'll clear the cobwebs out of the phone. Also, there's an app called Memory Booster that I use that helps a lot.
I have been using total crap Android phones for quite a while, beginning with the LG Ally. That phone was totally unusable until it got hacked and I could load custom Roms on it. Then it wasn't a bad little phone at all. I've had the Play R800x, the Samsung Gem (for about 6 hours), and the LG Vortex. The Motorola Razr M is ANYTHING but a crap phone. Even stock ICS, it was a speedy, reliable and fun phone. Now with Jelly Bean, it's hardly worth the effort of loading a custom ROM for the differences they provide. Now, we have the promise of KitKat coming next, and even stock, I expect it will rock this phone out.
Brother, if you have troubles with the M, all I can say is, you DESERVE an iPhone. Or maybe even a Windows phone!
Naaaahhhh... no one deserves a Windows phone.

Please understand, I came from a an HTC incredible, the crown jewel of legacy androids. I have no other experiences except rooting other friends phones which were low budget prepaids. The hardware on the phone is decent. It certainly is unfortunate the bootloader is locked. I did the same (beta program) 2 hours ago for my N9 WiFi, received the full Android 7 and installed; then removed from beta with no need to reinstall all (I agreed to receive the OTA for a official Android version but nothing is arrived...).

It has nothing to do with being lazy... Lol..... It has to do with ADB. I know that I can use ADB and side load this from my PC using TWRP. But usually there is a rooted version out hours after Google releases a new OS. I was just checking to see of anyone made one yet. That's all. I see now that there isn't one so I will wait until one is made and shared. Thank you though for replying to my post.

Actually .. if you're waiting for someone to post a zip flashable version that's already rooted, instead of just flashing the files with fastboot, then flashing superSu, I'd call that pretty lazy too. Lol

Going to have to disagree with you on this one. If you are doing any of this stuff to your device, it's best you know how to fix it if it doesn't work out. IMHO, if you are on the Nexus line, you should be adb/fastboot proficient.
I can understand why people don't like responses like ours, but honestly the world has become way too coddled. People want everything NOW. Answer my question, I don't want to search. For the people who have been around for a while, that gets old. I have no qualms helping people out, but people are overly sensitive to everything. I'm not trying to argue either. Wasn't trying to come off negative, was just being playful. If that gets misconstrued as something that would make people not want to visit this site, then I say they seriously need a dose of reality.
