I found a thread about the "Qualcomm QDLoader HS-USB 9008" brick on another phone, and found out that they can be unbricked with a Qualcomm tool called QPST.
I believe a factory cable is necessary to boot into this mode.
As you can see, it is possible to flash images using this tool. Possible bootloader unlock method?
EDIT: link to QPST https://www.dropbox.com/s/j2d2k53z0rnlxys/qpst.zip
NEVER USE QPST ON A DEVICE YOU DONT WANT TO RISK BRICKING UNLESS IT IS PROVEN TO WORK ON YOUR PHONE.
one wrong check box and you just permabricked your tablet.

I already bricked this tablet earlier from build.prop mods, how bad can it get? I got a replacement, and am using this tablet to experiment now.
In that case... the worst it can do is scramble or delete your partitions.
There is a small chance you can use it to fix radio related stuff but its been a couple years since I used qpst.

If it can be used to unlock the bootloader, it's worth playing with especially since the bounty is now 475$ which could easily buy you a new tablet if you brick yours. Myself, I'm playing with fastboot and various fastboot tools on my Kindle trying to find an exploit to unlock the bootloader or downgrade to an older version. Keep me updated if you find stuff!
Also I think the strange temporary brick with QHUSB_Bulk mode may be related to this. The mode may be the mode you need to put the tablet into to use qpst.
I'm not really a dev, and especially not a dev like Hashcode who knows how to do bootloader unlock stuff. All I did was find this QPST thing and use it on the KFHDX. If any devs are willing to supply me with a modified file to flash, please do so.
@JordanRulz
Link me to qpst. I'll look into what it can and cant do.

Unfortunately, little can be done to recover a device that exhibits these behaviors. QPST will not work on a HDX. Wish I had a better solution.
Kindle fire Hdx 7 32gb
I've kindle fire hdx 7 inch 32gb (apq8074) , we have same problem.
No adb, bootloop maybe hard brick, cannot get into fastboot, grey logo while booting and this happend almost 1 year without any solution, no buddy could fixed the problem.
If we using QPST we need more files to unbrick the device.

QPST does not work on 3rd gen HDX devices (no evidence it works on 4th gen either).
Maybe this gonna help you...of course you need the images...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
And maybe you have another partition table also you shouldn't copy and paste...
And if your device bricked, you have nothing to lose, just try it... ?
Good luck!

My N4 is from PlayStore USA, and I live outside of US. A few days ago I did a stupid mistake and flashed a wrong bootloader (please don't ask why - the embarrassment still hurts! ). The N4 is now totally dead - cannot be turned on, and won't boot no matter which sets of buttons I hold down.
I have been searching the net for solutions but have not found any simple enough (for me) solution. I read of several similar cases and the solution has been to send back to Google/LG. As I live outside of US, this isn't much of an option. I have also read about use of Gtag to unbrick devices but this is beyond my capability and this service is also not available in my country. Sending the N4 to my local LG service centre for repairs (there's no International warranty) is a last resort but I am not sure whether they have tbe tools and knowhow to unbrick my N4. They may not even want to get involved!
So I am writing in this forum to ask for help. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Why the hell would you even flash the bootloader manually?
Anyway, there was a thread recently about Qualcomm's debugging mode. However, you'll need the appropriate drivers and most likely other software for it to work.
I don't know if anyone actually got it working, though
I dont know why I did it too - just following wrong instructions ; out of sheer stupidity!

download the quacomm usb high speed drivers and install them you might have to do have disk to install them in device manager. then doqnload the QPST qualcomm tool. this will allow you to flash phone images and other files here. It should pick your phone up in download state. Only problem now is that the Qualcomm tool only allows hex image files to be flashed. this is where i was stuck
Thanks for the qualcomm suggestion. I will look through it when I return to my home country in a week`s time. But from what you have described, the procedure seems too complex for me. I am also following the other `bricked Nexus 4` thread in this section which I was not aware of till yesterday. All indications are that my bricked Nexus 4 will be a total loss - LG in my country has told me that they will not touch my unit until Nexus 4 is officially launched in my country (that could be a couple of months away), and returning the unit back to Google USA will be extremely difficult, complex and cumbersome as I just learned that the unit has to be returned by the original purchaser from USA (I bought the N4 from a 3rd party in my country). Its an expensive mistake and I can only blame myself for the stupid mistake I made.
Thats how far i got with my bricked nexus thing was there was no images in hex to flash. the only thing i can think of is that you coulld try acking up a phone in QPST and the flash to bricked one. but you would need to enter the *# code to change usb on working phone to diagnostics

Anyone tried succesfully?
A while back i hard bricked my N4, and got it replaced, but i kept the broken one, hoping to get it working again. It shows up as "qhsusb_dload" on my computer and says i need the drivers for it. But i cant seem to find the drivers for qhsusb_dload, so if anyone could give me a link for those drivers, it would be a great help.

I've tried some Linux recovery tool for my old galaxy player 5.0, however i wasn't successful. I'm not sure is there any recovery tool based on Linux for the Nexus 4

qhsusb_dload is what is used to initially load firmware onto the phone. (From what ive read so far) so i cant imagine the company that does this are the ONLY people that the software to do so, unless theres some hardware stuff they do, (which i havent found any proof of this). Still worth a shot to me, and like i said, im just trying to give it a SHOT. Not looking for people to just say, "oh its not possible" unless they have experience with this sort of thing. Thanks.
Hi, im kinda new here, but i really need help. i think ive hardbricked my nexus 7 (it wont start and the bootloader is wiped, the computer recognize the device as "APX" or something like that) and in one post they talked about blob files and a blob tool, can anyone help me with that? i have no clue how to compile/decompile the blobtool and what program i should use, can anyone give me a tutorial of any kind? (with what programs to use and in what steps)
thanks ahed
I have a nexus in the same condition. As far as I can see is dead. The blob thing only works if you copied it before it died as it is device specific.
Would be grateful if anyone could help though.

I have the same issue. my brother says it bootlooped after updating (this happened a while ago), he then tried to flash the bootloader and then killed it. the device shows in APX mode in windows. I managed to install the Naked drivers and get it to recognize as a Asus Transformer device but I'm not sure where to go next with that. It has been gathering dust since last couple of months. I am hoping some good developer would take interest and solve this thing once and for all.
Bricked OP2 ...
Hi all
I bought the oneplus 2 4 days ago.
I rooted it, installed twrp and flashed nethunter2.0 CM12 then wiped cache , well the flash didn't go very successfully as the os still oxygen but i had all applications from nethunter installed and fully functional.
I decided to use the nethunter installer provided by the official site but not including the onplus2 version, i included the custom rom in replacement of the choosed one
.. but accidentally in the process of this tool it flashed stok for nexus which completely bricked the phone... nothing works, not boot no charge no sound...
I plugged again the phone and pressed for 20 seconds the power + volume up button and i got the bulk usb driver as it was a oneplus one .. i changed the driver settings to accept the unsigned drivers and updated the unkown device to the qualcomm 9008 ( as it was like a oneplus one ) .
The issue is that oneplus two has a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 and the version i found for ColorOS is only for MSM8794 .. so i couldn't do anything
please can anyone help me?
any hint please?
Thank you in advance
If you flashed a ROM that's not for you're phone you're more than likely screwed
Could you try the following:
1, plug the phone back in recovery/fastboot mode
2, Open Computer Management and delete the drivers the OS finds for the phone
3, Download the ADB driver tool from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Try follow the steps and let me know if u get the drivers needed for the recovery
If the tool on the above link dont work, try this one: http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/UniversalAdbDriverSetup.msi

Two problems here. The first problem is that you didn't wipe properly when flashing Nethunter, that's why you ended up with Nethunter apps on your stock ROM. When flashing a ROM you must perform a full wipe, this consists of system, data, cache, and dalvik cache. This isn't what bricked your phone though. We know what bricked your phone; flashing a ROM for a completely different device. I'm not sure why you would flash a ROM from another device, maybe due to inexperience, but that's the last thing you should be doing, as you now know. Don't use the recovery tool that you have, it isn't for your chipset, it will only make matters worse. I honestly don't think there's any way to revive your device, you've pretty much rendered it useless. I'd strongly suggest you do a lot of research before deciding to mess with another phone, if you don't know what you're doing then don't do it. Venturing into unknown lands like this only ever ends in disaster.

I made a full wipe with Twrp ( as mentionned in your tutorial ) and al steps run without issues.
The issue is that the next day i used the nethunter install tool instead of manually installing, in the steps for one plus one ( not oneplus 2) i mentionned the specific rom which can run on the phone but suddenly when i pushed next it was flashing stock for nexus ( and yes it's in the steps of oneplus1 :/ i verified ) , well i know that it's inadmissible and can brick it seriously
now i have the bulkusb when linked to windows8 and pressing on poweron+volumeup, what do you recommend please? there is no compatible driver for snapdragon 810?flashing to colorOS won't solve the issue please?

Well flashing ColorOS using the tool you have will attempt to flash ColorOS for the OnePlus One, because that tool is not for your device. As I said, don't use it, it's not for your device so it will only do more harm. I don't know if there's a recovery tool for the Two yet, I certainly haven't seen one.

I just can say, your device is not hard bricked and will be recoverable.
You just need to be a bit patient. For the OPO, there was the ColorOs emergency recovery available (which helped me already 2x unbricking my OPO after I compiled a faulty kernel).
I just have not yet seen something similar for the OP2. But as you get the bulk_device still recognized via USB, this means the Qualcomm emergency boot loader is still intact and once the recovery stuff leaks somewhere, you will be able to fully recover your OP2.
Don't ask me when this will be available, think it also took weeks for the OPO before it was posted somewhere.
All the best!
Andi

It probably isn't the smartest idea in the world to recommend using a recovery tool from for an entirely different device unless you're 100% sure it's safe, which it probably isn't.

His device is not almost dead, it's in a bricked "like" state right now but it can be easily fixed with the correct tool. What you're suggesting is not the correct tool for this device at all. If you're comfortable with being so reckless with someone else's device, good for you, I'm certainly not.

I know you were trying to help, but that advice is the wrong advice. I don't want/need to delete your post. My point here is to try to help you to understand why giving advice when you're not 100% understanding the situation properly isn't a great idea. On a site like this, accuracy and knowledge are paramount because it can be the difference between helping someone revive their device or completely killing it.

I have had now about 4 or 5 newer ZTE phones. What I have come across is that none were able to be rooted. I posted a few requests, no one here took on the task. I don't know if it is that they can't be rooted or its just to hard for someone to do. Either way I have gotten away from buying ZTE phones for this reason.
Did anyone try to unlock the bootloader?
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
AT&T shows that there have been multiple OTA updates for this phone, and the last one early Jan 2018 was over 500mb. It should not be hard to port TWRP if we have an unlocked bootloader.

Nope, fastboot is removed on ZTE Nougat devices
It looks like they figured out ways around this for the Axon7, using EDL mode, but I tried a few things (including axon7tool, and the flashable zip to enable fastboot) without any luck.
I'll keep digging but it doesn't look too promising.
ZTE has our kernel sources at http://opensource.ztedevice.com [ZTE Z971 Nougat(7.1.1) Kernel(3.18.31)]
Won't do us much good without an unlocked bootloader though..
Anyone know if you can use MiFlash to flash in EDL mode without an unlocked bootloader?

AT&T shows that there have been multiple OTA updates for this phone, and the last one early Jan 2018 was over 500mb. It should not be hard to port TWRP if we have an unlocked bootloader.

TWRP for ZTE 791
Here is a Z971 TWRP I compiled for our device.
Any brave soul want to flash it using QPST or using one of the other methods in this post? Unbrick All Qualcomm
You'll need to rename it to recovery.img first. If you have to choose a firehose, choose prog_emmc_firehose_8917_ddr.mbn
Supposedly you can flash even with a locked bootloader :good:

I'll do it man just message me details on how to
I was going to try & backup all the partitions using QPST, but it seems you need to get the phone into 9006 mode. We can only get into 9008 mode [Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008] with "adb reboot edl" (emergency download mode). Holding down Vol+/Vol-/Power from EDL will get you into yet another mode, ZTE Handset Diagnostic (DFU) mode, but I couldn't figure out how to do anything from here with QPST.
The only way to get the phone into 9006 mode is to brick the bootloader, which I'm not willing to do at the moment. Supposedly you can use the "axon7tool -d" and it will try to write to your bootloader & boot, but it just crashed when I tried to do it.
The other way to get into 9006 mode is to flash an mbn and another file, but I believe those are device specific, and we don't have those..
Anyway, does anyone have a phone that wasn't updated to the latest Z971V1.0.0B20 firmware? It would be nice if we could get that from the /update folder so if we brick, we have something we might be able to flash to recover.

I figured out if you put the AT&T SIM card in, then Settings / AT&T Software Update, you will see the Z971V2.0 update & it will download.
I wasn't able to see the update until I put the AT&T SIM card in.
Unfortunately, I was unable to grab the OTA update.
If someone hasn't already updated to the latest software version, if you could "adb logcat -d -f /sdcard/Download/ota.txt" once the download starts, we can probably get the url of the OTA update, then work from there on building a flashable firmware... :good:

Greetings, i have ZTE blade spark too, as i see, this thread looks like it died very quick. well, i am not a developer but i'll try contacting some developers to check if we can do something. Maybe since they know a lot about it, they can help us to unlock bootloader, etc. I JUST HOPE that this thread doesnt die like the Huawei Ascend XT forums did and the phone couldnt have any custom ROM. The best thing is we have source code (the XT didnt had a good source code or no source code at all) and we can start from that. But we need a good dev to help us, try to contact as many devs as possible too.
Not to discourage you, but the fastboot is "disabled" on all ZTE U.S. devices. You would need to flash using QPST which requires having the correct vendor signed firehose programmer (which isn't available). You could try modifying the ota zip update, if you received one on your phone. You would need to download this OTA update manually before rebooting the phone (to have it installed), otherwise the link will be rolled off the logcat logs.
Good luck.

So I just got this phone and wanted to root and all that like I did my S4. Came here for some help because I am most definitely not educated enough for this. I did have a question though. I see a lot about a locked bootloader but under the developer settings I see "OEM Unlocking Allow the bootloader to be unlocked." The default is off, and I have left it so. Is this anything or am I missing something?

Hello ? Lol, yeah! Upload it to a good site like Android dev, I'm a lil behind the loop but I'm sure sharing your findings are what's going to lead us into a possibility of getting some Dev love...
