Recently had to replace my I9505G Samsung S4, with the same model. Stupid belt clip failed and phone fell off as I was getting off the bus. By the time I noticed it was missing, too late, the OTTERBOX didn't protect it from a bus. So I reordered the same model from Google Play. But not the following USSD Codes aren't working (They worked on previous model.)
#*#*4636*#*#
*#7284#
But the usual one to check IMEI does work.
Running KitKat 4.4.2
baseband: I9505GUECML4

i think it may be a network fault or you can try that sim in another phone and see if those codes are working in another phone or not

Well I am now able to use the #*#*4636*#*#, but the *#7284# still not working. Reason I want the latter is it lets me force USB Mass Storage instead of MTP.
Will check with carrier and see what I can do.
Had carrier update the IMEI information but still hasn't helped. Really want to be able to access internal SD card as Mass Storage.

even if you choose anyone ctp or mpt there are both options available phone and storage to copy files brother
I know, trying now to configure mounting under linux. But that option under *#7284# always worked for me, it made the phone immediately recognizable under any OS.
Update:
Well at least I can use adb push to transfer files to my phone.

I don't know if this will work, but try MyMobiler (http://www.mymobiler.com/) and see if you can get it running without unlocking your phone.
It needs to install something on your device, and I can't remember if it requires any user interaction, and I don't know if it will do it whilst the phone is locked.
It basically gives you control over your mobile from your PC, so you can use the mouse to enter the PIN.
Hope this helps!
Edit:
You'll need ActiveSync (or later windows equivalent) running on your PC.
when i insert usb i cant select active sync its on disk drive
I thought sometimes if you leave the phone once the usb cable is plugged in, it automatically goes to active sync?
(also what insturance plan are you on, just out of interest)
no on mine i think it selects disk drive

Ahh - don't know what you could do then. You'd need it on ActiveSync to control it from anything other than the screen! I guess you're gonna lose whatever's on there

Nah - it defaults to whatever you last used, which was obviously USB drive in this case.
thanks for your help guys just wanted to check before i sent it off hopefully most of its backed up on microsoft my phone
going to post at 550pm unless someone can help back up
john is right, the default is ActiveSync the FIRST time you connect, but after that it defaults to the last option used, but if last was USB Drive and you remove the SD Card it will default to ActiveSync again, this is a first step but I'm afraid you still won't be able to install Mobiler (a fantastic app I discovered 1 hour ago by the way!) as it has to install on the phone and you won't be able to click OK to install at the prompt. But you may be able to Backup files on your PC using activesync, so it worth a try!
Another bit of advice that won't help you immediately, but for future reference, I would highly recommend getting Microsoft MyPhone installed. I've got it backing up contacts, emails, text, photos etc. every night whilst I sleep. It really does help when starting from scratch, after flashing ROMs or hard resets.

Nice one mate.
Good to know there's a way round that problem. I'm sure you won't be the last
So I am digging the barrel on this but in short i used to be able to repair a meid using all the standard tools. For some reason now i have been getting errors trying to read. For this example i'll use cdma workshop. I used to be able to just send the spc and password and everything went smoothly. Now i can connect to the phone but it freezes the program when i try to read anything. The only thing that has changed is I upgraded my phone and my wifes phone to gingerbread.. What I need to know is simply does the upgrade from froyo to gb kill the ability to edit the phone info? Also just to be said this thread will NOT be used to talk about anything illegal like cloning or switching carries. There are many other threads on that. I just want to know if gb killed the common tools out there. Thanks. Oh and just before anyone suggests it yes the phone is in modem mode and debugging on. Thanks.
Hi, My Nexus 4 got no service already 1 week++. I already tested with the other SIM card and I also do a research on Internet. On Internet, also got many people faced this problem. On Internet, many people said the nexus 4 cant accept the SIM card that is normal SIM card cut into micro SIM card, must use the original micro SIM card. I also try with the solution and I bought a SIM card that is original SIM card but the micro SIM card also doesn't work. All the SIM card are cant detected by he nexus 4, will the Sim Card tray broken. My phone are protected by cover since day one and never dropped into water. check in settings if you have a baseband installed sometimes it uninstalls by itself so that could be the problem

Settings > About phone > Baseband version
Does the phone ask you to insert SIM, or are you unable to connect to your cell provider?
If you are asked to insert SIM, you may have a bad SIM slot (broken pin contacts), or the SIM is placed incorrectly in the slot.
If you just have no service, check your phone number is displayed correctly in "About phone" and try to scan for available networks in:
Settings > Wireless & networks (more) > Mobile networks > Network operators
then use "Choose automatically"
Will the sim tray broken. My nexus 4 is running JB Stock and no root.

Had the exact same problem. Had no service at all (the network icon was just a triangle), no baseband, no IMEI. This is what I tried so far. My phone was stock 4.3 before my experiments :
1. Tried toggling *#*#4636#*#*, tried all the options there - no luck. Radio was "off", and no matter how many times I tried to click on Turn On Radio, it wouldnt start
2. Tried switching Sim cards, from same operator and from a different operator, no luck
3. Did a factory reset using the settings menu - no change
4. Finally, rooted the phone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312 (First time ever, complete noob here). Everything went smoothly. Installed all the standard stuff from the 4.3 image.
Now, I could see the radio intermittently turn on and off - what a relief ! Atleast I knew there exists a chance this is not a hardware issue. I was getting service for 10 seconds, then it was going off for 10 seconds. This was happening continuously.
5. Tried *#*#4636#*#* and toggling all options again, (even GSM only, WDCMA only, preferred etc). I am in India and using Idea Cellular.
6. Searched like crazy on the xda forum for possible solutions - decided I'll try out a different radio version (I had 0.84 on mine) from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227 - If you're a complete noob like me and dont know what the hell I'm talking about, trust me, flashing a radio is not that difficult. Just refer to my earlier thread link
7. Tried flashing each and every radio from 0.24 - 0.84. Mixed results. Except for 0.83 and 0.84 all other radios atleast maintain signal throughout. However it never turns "blue" - I cannot access the internet from my phone - I have a data plan, the apn information is correct and every other setting is proper (airplane mode off, data on etc). The other odd thing is I can call and receive calls, however there is absolutely no audio !
By elimination - I think there are only two options here - either this has something to do with the 4.3 update altogether, or this is a hardware glitch on the nexus 4 which is activated by some unique sequence of steps. Please note I did NOTHING "illegal" on the phone before this problem - no rooting no custom software, not even any apps which mainstream users would call "shady" - just the usual FB, Mail apps, my corporate mail account.
Any ideas here - I am going to go ahead and try flashing my phone back to stock 4.2.2 again, and hope that works !! Please help ! And apologies for the tremendously long post first up
Regards,
NoobNexus

i recently buy a nexus 4 from ebay, only for nostalgia, so, when i receive the cellphone, i turn on without a sim inside, connected to wifi and the phone request for 3 upgrades of security, the nexus was in 5.1.1, the last than ir support, so i accepted the upgrades and the nighmare start, when i put my sim, the nexus not recognized it, i try everything, put in airplane mode and back and nothing, full reset from recovery twice and nothing.
So, i unlock the bootloader, install a recovery (clockwork) and root, after download from google the formware 4.4.4 for nexus 4, start the downgrade, when my nexus wake up in kitkat with my at&t (mexico) sim inside, the same problem, still not detecting simcard, i connect to wifi and the cellphone request for an upgrade, android 5.0.1 , click in next and the nexus start downloading and installing the upgrade, after 15 minutes, again with the sim indide, wake up with lollipop and the signal come back again ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
My nexus after 24hrs is still with signal, whitout problems, but still request for the other 3 upgrades ( android 5.1.1 and other two upgrades for security), but with previous experience.... i will keep in 5.0.1......
A friend of mine who works at Samsung gave me an S5 Mini (Samsung SM-G800X). He told me its only good for browsing, it doesn’t have the necessary hardware to use as a phone. It also came with Samsung Retail mode enabled. I’m wondering if it really is the case, that it doesn’t have the right hardware or could it be that I just need to flash it with the right firmware?
The Build Number was KOT49H.G800XXXU1ANG1_LLK
Android 4.4.2
I used the Phone INFO Samsung app and got following Info:
Hardware/Board: Universal3470
Platform/Chip: exynos3/xynos3470
Modem Board: SS222
Hardware Revision: Not Active
I managed to remove Samsung Retail Mode and flashed it with the closest Firmware I could find
G800FXXU1ANL1_G800FBTU1ANJ1_BTU
Before flashing there was not even a Mobile Network option under Network Connections. After I flashed it the option for Mobile networks is there.
But as before the phone will not connect/find a network with a working sim inserted. I know that the sim card slot works, because without a sim card it gives an message ‘No SIM’, this disappears as soon as it’s inserted.
Have I got it wrong, it really doesn’t have the hardware? It seems weird that the Modem Board is reported. Is there anything else I could try? Thanks
My knowledge is that models designated 900X do NOT have the radios to make a mobile connection, but CAN be used as WiFi only devices, so for instance Google voice will give you full functionality, but you'll need to be connected to WiFi at all times.

No, you can flash all the stock ROMs via ODIN / KIES you like and it'll stay 0x0
Tripping KNOX is only by flashing something custom that's not signed by Samsung

What happens if you go to Settings > Connections > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Operators
Let it search for operators, if it finds the one it's meant to be on, tell it to register on that network
I'm starting to wonder if the EFS partition has become corrupted
Does the phone have a working IMEI number?
*#06#
If not, and don't quote me on this, but I've heard people saying backing up from one S5 and restoring to another has worked for them, but I have not tested this myself
Here is a tool for backup / restore of EFS which controls radio and IMEI etc

Afaik, phones are blocked by hardware ID, (IMEI)
Can't really go into it on XDA as we don't know where the phone is from, but you have enough info from this single thread to fix it if that is the problem

See what i am thinking is a few things efs folder has become currupt or it has been blocked or there is a loose antena as she dropped it a couple of days before the only problem with that one is that you can only access the motherboard to check through the screen an i am not prepared to do that ( i am heavy handed fabricator by trade screen could break ) and if that happens and the antena is fine then i have a paper weight lolz

She dropped it, then it sounds more like something came loose or broke inside the phone than any corrupted partition
Id say your best bet it to take it to a repair shop if you don't want to risk opening it yourself, although there is a nice teardown guide here

Yeh she dropped it but on carpet and there is no damage to the outside and i have some right dints in my s5 and its fine
In the teardown thread, there is a picture of a small blue wire, looks like it could be related to the antenna, it's possible that has popped off
Maybe it wasn't ever clicked in properly from the factory where yours was
Almost certainly a hardware problem if the phone has not been IMEI blocked and her SIM works in your phone / flashing new firmware doesn't fix it
I have a G900F and Its On all stock, I have reflashed latest twice.
IMEI cert is ok. IMEi ok . but it still dont pick up sim. any idea?
