I have the Verizon variant on stock the screen will randomly shutoff sometimes they say if you put your hand over the sensor it will do that but it does it even when I'm not touching the phone on cm11 Roms its the opposite i will turn screen on and when I set it down on the table it will turn back on I am so fed up with it doing and if it keeps doing this I will buy a nexus 5 or maybe the new oppo when it comes out

Do you use a screen protector?
No screen protector it seems to do it sometimes but when it does do it it is very bad and almost impossible to use
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
I'm on the VZW variant too and don't have that issue. So I'm almost thinking its hardware. Probably the proximity sensor is messed up. I do think I remember some developer having that same problem and it was a hardware issue. Are you running a custom ROM too?

Try entering the service menu and testing the proximity sensor.
I believe it might be a hardware problem.
I did that it helps it doesn't do it as much but still does occasionally hate to get a new one that I can't root or install custom recovery
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
I would hate for it to not have custom recovery do you know if shellnutt figured out what was going on with freegee it only does it sometimes I don't have much options for a new phone
Samsung yuck maybe an oppo they seem nice if it keeps doing this I have a friend that would love this phone hopefully it will stop it has only done it once today

My girlfriends rooted (MIUI) evo is not registering all keys. I have tried cyanogen and miui.us 1.7.1 and 1.7.8. They keyboard functions but misses I, k and n.
I noticed actually that it effects the screen keyboard or not and doesn't register in that specific grid. Any tips? We've tried reflashing and wiping data etc. Nothing seems to be working.

When the keyboard isn't up, do those areas of the screen register?
No they don't.

Sounds like a defective screen.
If you have TEP the Sprint store can assist you.
Just recently occurred though. The device hasn't been hit with any excessive shock and the screen shows no signs of damage. Well see what we cab do though

It may just be defective.
Electronics fail.
My Evo's back button light went out the other day and it's never been dropped.
Happens.
Bummer. Guess I'll have to unroot it so she can turn it in and get it replaced.

Yeah, as long as there's no obvious physical damage it should be a very quick repair process.
I've not seen it mentioned, but I want to know if others have noticed.
So far all 3 of my CK60 devices have this. Originally I thought it might have been the app Thumb Keyboard. But my other two without the app display the same.
At about 1 inch from the right side edge of the display portion of the screen, a vertical black line will flash. I've only really noticed it while browsing. Not entirely sure it's not just an issue in Chrome, as I also have the stock ICS browser installed, but only use that to view flash videos.
Each has been unlocked and rooted, it's so random and happens so rarely that I couldn't remember to diagnose it pre-root/unlock..
Anyone else notice this?
Would like to know if something common, before erasing my unit to test clean stock.
I will get the random black line flash on some apps. Such as XDA, and chrome. Doesn't ever happen on a homescreen, or in game or anything.
Don't bother with wiping, it won't do you any good.
Same here. Think it's a software problem.

Thanks for chiming in guys, appreciate it, it doesn't "really" bother me, but it is a "glitch". Good to know.

Yea I have the same problem also this is the second replacement.... screen flicker on the first now on this I get the screen flicker and lines on CK60 device
I flashed Motleys kernel for the performance but it also got rid of the flashing black line. I didn't really think about until yesterday when I realized I haven't seen it happen in a couple days now ever since I flashed it.

It use to flash on my tapatalk, Facebook and chrome browser but the kernel seemed to fix it.
What are we referring to as CK60

Definitely software.

I noticed it first day I started playing with my Nexus 7.
I also have the screen flickering problem, but I'm pretty sure they are completely unrelated.
Hopefully there will be an update to fix it.
I flashed the motley kernel and it stopped.

Flashing black lines?!?!?
Yep, same thing here. It isn't a huge deal, as it's just a split second flash. My only concern is that it may get worse as time progresses. I REALLY hope Google is working on some patches to address some of these Software issues.
Other than that, I am very satisfied with my Nexus 7, it's an excellent buy!
Google, please, you guys need to really tighten up your SQA department!
-Android1126-
Make sure to read the instructions before doing this. It does take care of the black line for me I haven't seen it in over a week now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775798
Also over clocking isn't needed to get rid of the line flash. It is a nice feature to have. And for the GPU I would suggest the 484... Also be sure to give motley a "thanks" for his work.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I am seeing the same thing on my C70. I also sent in a support request to ASUS and directed them here. Will post back if/when they reply with something useful.
Noticed a horizontal black line flash across the bottom while in portrait mode. Happened while on xda a few days ago. Haven't seen it since

Just wondering whether the touch sensitivity has been fixed by a ROM?
Is it a hardware or software related problem?
Thanks
Sent from my Nexus 4
I think it's more hardware.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think it can be improved with software.
It was done on other devices.
For example on the Galaxy S2 it is possible to increase touch sensitivity up to the point where you can type by just howering over the screen without even touching it.

I'm hoping too. My one x & iPhone have fantastic sensitivity but this when i tried one it clearly didn't.

My sensitivity has seemingly gotten better after installing AOKP and Faux123vs rom plus some touchscreen tweaks.

Which touchscreen tweaks please? And are you able to test using the Pointer location tool in developer options?
What is your Prs score?

Check this out, comment 40 and 42. Looks like its definitely software side, I'm sure google/LG will eventually fix it.
I don't know what happened but the other day my touchscreen started acting up. For some reason the knock on doesn't work at all, but knock off does. Also there is like a strip about a half inch from the top of my screen where the touchscreen just does not work. I can't click on anything in that area. I'm running OptimuS v 2.2

Not with stock KK ROM, nope. Maybe others can help you. Otherwise I'd recommend doing factory reset. If that doesn't help, returning to stock to see if it's the ROM or hardware.
Im having that same problem im on stock rom it has never been droped i dont know how to fix it and now it gives me an alert saying it detects my screen is broken although its not
Hi guys,
Once in a while it seems phone screen orientation sometimes get messed up.
I'm on pure nexus ROM, only way to get it working is clicking on orientation setting tile once and back on.
Is this normal?
Thanks

Have the same problem, stock ROM
I do as well, sometimes it gets stuck in one direction. It's not frequent, but it happens to me once every two/three days. Stock rom. I can fix it by turning the phone the direction it thinks it is, and back again.

Thanks guys, do you know if it is hardware issue or software issue? If hardware should we be worried and checking for replacement?

i'm guessing software. android has never been that great at screen rotation. i think its improved dramatically but i just chalk it up to android being android.
