Anyone else have their Sprint G2 on Verizon Prepaid? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased my G2 on Sprint and flashed it to Verizon prepaid and I'm loving it! Great phone and great battery life compared to my Nexus 5. Sprint doesn't have LTE in my area so could care less about only having 3G. I have mine on the $35, 500 minutes with unlimited text and data plan. Was wondering if anyone else had flashed the G2 to a different service and how they were liking it.

I haven't flashed mine, but knowing that I can if I don't like Sprint makes me love this damn phone even more. It's literally the best phone I've ever had.
Glad you had success with using it on another carrier!

Only had it a couple of days but love it also. Love my Nexus 5 also but think I might sell it. I don't need alot of minutes so 500 is plenty and the unlimited data with this plan is great. Best deal on Verizon...flashed that is

Just bought a brand new nexus one

Hello xda.its been awhile rooting and flashing.got rid of evo duo to few hardware issues.well I just bought the n1 on the day google announced the nexus s(galaxy s).no its not rooted yet and one thing kinda frustrating me is that I have to hit the power button to wake the phone.its there any special options or app to wake the phone without hitting the power button for now?
btw loving the phone more than any htc I had in the past.
Thank you.

Not sure about an app, but this is a standard feature of most custom roms, but you will need to root
Yes... a lot of ROM have the trackball unlock feature... also volume buttons.

then, lock by long press on search key, unlock by vol up/down or trackball.
Being a N1 owner, what made you buy a N1 now? With NS coming and a lot of superior phones out atm... The N1 multi-touch problem makes it very undesirable to purchase now I think, as its poor GPU and speakers.
If you can, I think returning it may be a good idea, usually have like 14 days to return these things no?
Whats the price of a N1 now? Most likely not the inicial 500$. If im not mistaken it can be around 250$ for developers or something? If that is the price i think it is the best phone in the market in quality/price relation.
Sorry but I don't like samsung phones at all plus the nexus s seems to b just another galaxy s with gingerbread and no sdcard slot.had the evo since release and fully modded but had lotta hardware issues.but the n1 is GSM quadband unlocked phone when I go overseas I don't have to buy another phone.believe it or not the n1 still pricy but I got a good deal and took it with the Google n1 dock and so far I'm happy with the phone.thank u guys

one last question: will t-mobile charge me extra $ if i use the wifi tethering thats included in the N1 froyo(without root)? unlimited data is already included in my plan.thanks
They shouldn't charge you more. I've been tethering for years now since the winmo days and from the carriers perspective the source of the data is extremely difficult to determine, they will simply be able to see that you are using data. I think that the "unlimited" data on T-Mobile has a 5GB cap, but I may be wrong.

Recently T-mobile changed the cap to 5Gb. If your contract was signed before that date you have a 10 Gb cap, if it was signed after that date you will have a 5Gb cap. I forget the day though. It was only a few months ago.
It's not a hard cap, they just reserve the right to reduce bandwidth at that point...

FS: Brand new MOTO Atrix 4G

I just picked one up. Just thought if someone us interested they can pm me with the details. I just got it but I can't use it. It's not worth it too me. Still currently using my N1. ATT got me on a 4G data plan that is costing me more money. I just went back to my unlimited media net plan on my N1. Prob pick up a NS when its released. ATT can't detect that.

I want to buy nexus s when its released. That's the only way I can keep using the data plan and I can't seem to get away from CM Rom. I don't think atrix will ever get one. Plus I am one of those plain android user. Can't stand blur. It's the best spec phone but dev is more interesting for me.

Reported for trolling. This thread adds NOTHING to the forum, and threads like this and others talking about how much better their nexus is need to be bannable. Any other Atrix users here, would love to see you all start reporting these threads too, so the mods will actually do something.

I just love it when people come up with all sorts of lame excuses to mask the obvious facts. If you bought the phone to resell - be honest about it, nothing wrong with doing that. If you truly don't like it then take it back.
Oh, and wrong forum.

What do you think of the Motorola Triumph?

Virgin has full coverage here in NYC. I don't talk a lot. I use a lot of text/gtalk. They have 25$ plans. The processor/gpu is the same as the thunderbolt. I was going to wait on the nexus 3 but if the Triumph comes out and someone can get CM on it somehow- I might pick it up.
I know the Triumph (Thunderbolt specs) and the Nexus 3 (supposed quad core) are totally different but for 25 a month- that's very attractive.
I know this place will be pro-Vibrant and most likely pro nexus since its a dev device but if the Triumph can get a 2nd init install of Cm or MIUI- why not?
Thoughts?

I am really tempted to pay my etf and make the switch to VM because the service (virgin mobile which uses Sprint's network) is a lot better then T-mobile's in my area. I've heard the Triumph also is running stock android, so thats a plus. I say go for it, $25 a month is a very good deal and VM has a 30 day returm period, so if you don't like it you can return your phone.
How much does that phone go for?

I think Virgin has a 30 day period to return the phone if you don't like it. It would be nice to try it. Worse comes to worse and you don't like it, return it and you're only losing the 25$ for that month.

I doubt you could get CM7 on that thing since Virgin really took a stand against root and custom roms. Of course, if they do decide to unlock the bootloader, like Kevin Garnett, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

As much as I don't like verizon's phones. They have the fastest mobile network in the US hands down (LTE and not CDMA). Their devices average 12Mbs, and can hit up to 21Mbs. There's really no contest there. T-mo and the others can't do that today.
First, this is my first post in this sub-forum, as I have a fascinate, but I just wanted to point out 2 things about this phone and Virgin Mobile in general:
1. Sprint has wonderful service in my area, better than AT&T and T-Mobile, but not as good as Verizon. I DO know that I am willing to have one less bar and slower data to save $60 a month. Also, I don't travel where Sprint doesn't have service, so roaming is a non-factor to me, although to some people that should be a pretty big point, as VM doesn't roam out of sprint's network (trade offs... pfft)
2.Virgin Mobile's android phones follow a trend, sell the phone for ~ 50% of retail. I'll prove it:
Optimus S $299 | Optimus V $149 and Samsung Transform (Sprint no longer offers the Intercept) $350 | Samsung Intecept $199 (I see it all the time on sale at BB for $175)
What this leads me to believe is you simply need to find the equivalent phone and simply slash it's price in half, +/- $50. I believe the EVO is the closest match, so take half of that price and you get roughly $225, according to Sprint. Therefore, I believe the triumph will be $250.
What do you all think?
the phone will be sold for $299.99
you can pre-order it now on bestbuy's website.
just go there and search for "motorola triumph"
I'm kinda pissed that the price is so high, but unlimited data, text, and web for 25 a month... will make up the difference in a few months on the money you save from paying your normal phone bill.
If it can't be rootrom'd then im gonna wait for the nexus 3.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I wouldn't, what most people don't know is how these carriers are able to sell the phones for so little money. For example, the rumor touch is 100 bucks for virgin mobile while the off-contract price for the rumor touch on sprint is 250 in most stores, how are they able to do that? the answer is different parts, not just different brands, also lower quality, which is why most people who have a prepaid phone have the most phone problems, there's not a single prepaid phone in the last 3 years that I've seen with no serious problems. While the same can be said for post paid versions in this case it is much worse on prepaid smartphones.
Ask anyone who repairs/mods cellphones, most of the time they won't mess with prepaids :/
The reason those companies sell it higher at full price is to try to get you into their contract.I have never had a problem with a prepaid phone.I personally don't mind getting it cheaper without the contract.I also will dev or work on any phone prepaid or not.I am looking forward to the Triumph, finally there will be a nice spec'd phone on prepaid. While I am happy with th Optimus V I was already looking to use it as a donor for another phone. But with this coming out, I'll just sell my V and get it.Though I'm sure it will have a locked bootloader as long as it can be temp rooted to remove bloatware I'll be very happy.

so long... best wishes to atrix 4g community

You're gonna love the GS3. I upgraded about 3 weeks ago. Screen, speed, and ICS are awesome. Touchwiz is also much better than Motoblur (although I've already started using Nova as my launcher).
That said, my daughter is loving the Atrix and lapdock that I handed down to her. Such an awesome phone that I couldn't part with it as long as someone in my family could use it.
There are a few areas however that the Atrix still beats the GS3. The Atrix bluetooth radio is better. Hooks up faster to my car, and has significantly better range with my headphones at the gym. The cell radio on my GS3 also flips between 3G and Edge more than the Atrix did (sorry, no LTE in my area yet). Also, I'm sad to say that the Atrix has better battery life too.
So, bottom line is that the GS3 is an awesome phone (really love the camera too), but the Atrix still holds its own for an older phone. Gotta love all the choices we have with Android!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Our company has 4 atrix's... 2 are stock blur and 2 are ics/jb and afaik there are a lot less dropped calls/freezing/glitching on the stock blur roms than the experimental kangs. The only complaints with android 4 is the camera problems! I sure wish motorola would hurry up and release ICS or a lot more people are going to jump ship.
I know I'm eyeing the SGS3. Itis pretty much guaranteed to get updated CM builds., I don't give two craps about Touchwiz, though. The only thing holding me back is that, specs wise, it's not a huge upgrade from the Atrix. So I keep thinking it's probably not worth the upgrade cost.

The GS3 is too big for my liking. Even my SGSII I wish would have a smaller form factor sometimes as well. Atrix with a TPU Case IMO is the perfect size for a cell phone.
If the next Nexus phone has the same size as the Atrix, plus had MicroSD support. Oh man... Yeah that would hold me over for a LONNNNNG time...

And on another note, the atrix is by far the "crappiest" phone on the market. You're obviously not familiar with the Motorola flipside that att STILL sells but can't even get a proper recovery and is forced to stay completely stock, although rooted, if you want a proper working phone.

There's already a few threads on this subject, and yes the jig is up. Quite a few of us got detected and bumped this past week. I decided to call in and change my plan back, just to see how long it'd last, I've actually managed to go for a few days now so far without being bumped again. But I imagine I'll get bumped again sooner or later, at which point I'll have to make some hard choices.
