Afternoon all,
Is there a pure KitKat Rom for Note 3? Best one recommended?
Is there a pure ROM with any of the Samsung features included? Because I still use SPen etc but not everything.
Finally I have a S5 theme on my Note 3 at the moment ( only new icons ) is there a way to use the icons on all the UI not just the home screens and app drawer?
Thank you all for help
Well, there is always the AOSP side of the story if you want a pure kitkat like experience. You will however, lose all spen functionality. And as well, you will be knoxed. Flashing roms requires root etc (unless you already are rooted)
As for the app icons, maybe there are some leaked s5 apps you can install for the look and feel of that?

Hey guys and girls
I understand that custom launchers still allow the s-pen functions to operate.
However, will a custom rom say a cm10.1 based rom allow this as well as allow the syncing between the note and the smart watch?
If not, how could I over come this, I want a cm10.1 which allows me to use all the s=pen functions and smart watch functions properly..
Appreciate any help.
Have you ever read what Cm is all about??
You will loose all TW functions and Smartwatch will notbwork properley.

Hey mate, thanks for the answer, not entirely sure what xposed framework is... Theme chooser either.
I am using a cm10.1 based ROM and I can choose the theme on that but not on my previous ROM which was touchwiz based?

xposed module is something that only requires root to work and give u the ability to make a LOT of changes on your system, one of them is theme chooser that lets u choose a theme and apply it into your system. if you want touchwiz features + cm "kind of look", give it a try
I don't know when did the rumor started, but with cyanogenmod you can use the spen, however, you cannot use multiwindows, pen-window and all the custom features of touchwiz. But you do have pressure sensitivity in apps that support it (like sketchbook pro, paryrus, lecturenotes..), and if you buy gmd spen control you can use custom gestures in all the apps, like installing a floating memo and launching it with the pen button pressed and doing a double tap ( in an old paranoid android i used in the n7000 gestures where baked in the rom itself).
Unfortunately the smartwatch will not work unless samsung updates the thing to pair with all android phones, because right now it needs very recent versions of touchwiz.
Im so sorry about my english.:silly:

Thank you all, I think my best way of going about things is to get a good stock based ROM and use that xposed module to choose my custom theme at the same time using my spen and touchwiz features. Is this correct??:victory:

Which touchwiz features are you trying to keep exactly? Most, if not all, can be replicated on an AOSP rom.
More so the s-pen features. I am running aosp ROM on my s3 ATM fine... But obviously with the note I would be looking at using s-pen perhaps even the watch.. I don't think I can do that with aosp can I ?

GMD gesture control will allow for many many additional Stylus gestures and commands. Also, an app called ink over apps is a good replacement to the screen write.

Hello,
I'd like to ask if there are any Note 3 custom ROMs that have all the bloatware and TouchWiz removed but still contain all the nice Samsung apps like the S Memo or S Health.
I've been looking for one for a long time but wasn't able to find it...
Thank you very much in advance!
Greetings!

try xnote you can remove all bloat with aroma and install nova or apex
Does Nova or Apex affect the performance? Cause I think the TouchWiz stuff will still run in background...

If you want all samsung features, like s pen, multiwindow etc then you have to keep touchwiz. If you don't like the look, install a launcher from google play and prevent touchwiz from running by killing it with an app like home manager.

So the Samsung Galaxy Avant came out recently, and I noticed that it has the same processor and same graphics. Since those are the most important parts when you port a rom, I figured it would be the best choice to use when porting a Touchwiz rom to the Moto g. I gave it a try and it failed, but I'm not nearly as advanced in this as some of you guys. Just a small tip for those of you that actually want Touchwiz on here.
Does it have same size and resolution? That's the most important thing for porting manufacturer roms.
Comparison:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5831&idPhone2=6542
It doesn't have the same resolution unfortunately... They're both 4.5 inch screens but I think the avant is hdpi.
Why would you ever want Touchwiz? That thing is the slowest and sluggish piece of bloatware ever made.
You should ve thankful having stock Android in our Moto G.
True, it's not as fast. And yes I'm glad we have stock, but in my opinion, its too bare. Not mentioning the fact that its something new for the device. Everyone likes different things.
Maybe it isn't so good idea (for me)! If i want TouchWiz i'll buy a Samsung!
CarbonROM
If you don't like stock Android's bare feeling, use Carbon ROM! Lots of customisation options there, including one to have a quick-settings ribbon like TouchWiz. But honestly I had my buddy go for CM11 for his GS2 due to the fact that TouchWiz looked horrible (not it mention it was 4.1! )

My previous phone, galaxy grand was a Pretty bad performer.
My "Dream ROM" for the Note 4 would be:
*Rooted
*Knox removed
*CyanogenMod style theming
*Samsung and Sprint bloatware removed (accept for Facebook sync)
*TouchWiz apps (calendar, messaging, phone, clock, calculator, lockscreen, notification quick settings) replaced with CyanogenMod versions
I am definitely willing to test but lack the skill to compile.
Anyone want to try?
i feel like you picked the wrong phone for that..
Why? I have suggested a TouchWiz rom that just looks like AOSP. Taking the best features of this phone (embodied in TouchWiz functions) and adding the apps of AOSP.
I'm sure there will be CyanogenMod based ROMs for this device but they will lack the expanding Windows that work great on this ROM.
Sounds like you want a different launcher. Try Nova

Respectfully, it is not the look, but the interface of those apps that I like better.
Probably better to wait for cm11 to be made official for the Sprint Note 4. Hopefully it happens.

Ordinarily, with most phones, I'd absolutely agree with you.
I flashed CyanogenMod based ROMs for every android I've ever had. In fact I was glad to get rid of TouchWiz for my Galaxies S2 and S3.
However, with this beast, I wouldn't want to give up the S-Note stylus features, floating windows, or one handed mode.
With xposed, I could duplicate the floating windows (x-halo) and split screen view.
But I wouldn't be able to duplicate a lot of the S-Note features (some maybe but not most), lots of the camera features, or one handed mode.
Further, the battery optimization on this phone is phenomenal and I have found the CM based ROMs aren't usually as good.

Agreed. With flashing cm11, there are some trade offs. For me I like the smoothness of cm11 compared to Touch Wiz.

Totally agree with you. CM11 and 12 are great roms, but I love using the s pen as well as the s health and s note apps.
As agreed I decided to open this topic to discuss new ideas for a custom ROM based on Stock 4.1.2, as none of the CyanogenMod can please many users, we will discuss ideas and features for the ROM, I will put my ideas here on the tread later.
My goal is make a fast and slim stock custom rom, with good features for everyone use most of her S3 mini, then everyone can give ideias to implement on this ROM
Ok idea 1.add Fly-On mod or something similar.
2.i think it should have xposed framework installed from the beginning. .as an option of course.
3. Quick settings like when you swipe the statusbar with two fingers ?

Well, since make a good visual is hard and i terrible themer, i will upload with s5 theme and some things i made, its unfinished but its time for a release
Yeah! We need to test
What i made this days:
Changed lots os apks from Sammy(all laggy and heavy), aosp/cm apps(messenger from PAC 4.1,aosp browser fully working, desk clock)
Heavy cleaned up on all ROM(lib,APP,framework, and all others folders)
Add my personal engine for speed and battery saver
Add some things from stamina mode of xperia devices(unfinished)
Tweaked CSC folder, build.prop
Ported DSP manager from CyanogenMod 10.1
And more some little things
Sounds good is there a four way reboot that will work with xposed framework?

4 way reboot menu was "broken" with the theme S5, but using the gravity box with the reboot menu option everything is perfect, then the ROM will not get trouble at the end: D
Sounds great. Godd job
Ok give us a tester then jyn.
Btw:how about putting the pie control in there (forgot the name) like the Tokorom it's a great bit of kit and if you set it up it would be good for the first time user to get to the right apps and options.
LMT Launcher. .
