The rooted flag didn't clear when you updated to 4.4.2. There isn't root for kitkat. There probably won't be any time soon so if you want it back find one of the threads explaining how to downgrade and get root properly on kitkat. It

Help please
To get the ota update you need to return your device to stock. I googled i337Z firmware and found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448794
If it updates to 4.4.2 there currently is not a root method so if you need root you'll have problems.
Edit, oh, backup everything first as it'll delete everything
Help
Up, i need 4.3 android on i337z mh1, not stock update

I can confirm that towel root works on the I337Z with 4.4.2, build TUUBNE2. However, Safestrap doesn't seem to work. Also, at least for the time being, I don't see any way of unlocking the bootloader with 4.4, so you may want to try to unlock the bootloader before upgrading to 4.4, if that's of interest to you.
agree I rooted a store demo with towel root and it worked hahaha , but I haven't tried safestap on a phone running kitkat , mine is running the intika rom now and I'm not planing to update for now
One thing that is a bit concerning to me, is that towel root requires internet access to function.. it makes me wonder why.
For the most part, I'm ok with the stock (rooted) rom, as I can disable/cleanup most of what I need to. The only thing I haven't been able to fix is the missing hotspot option - not sure how to get this option to show up.

LG pc suite will install the latest available rom for your device which will be kitkat as soon as it is available for you. If it says that you have the latest installed, then use 'restore upgrade errors option.' After this it will probably bootloop but, perform a factory reset and everything will then be sorted.

Hi Guys, I have read some topics about downgrading, but im not fully understanding if this is only for people who is already rooted or if this will work for a non rooted device. In my case i have an At&t Lg G2 not rooted with 4.4.2 kitkat and wanted to revert to 4.2 so i can root and then flash a rooted stock 4.4.2 kitkat. Is it possible to do that, even if i was never rooted? I do understand there's no root for kitkat as of now.
Thanks guys.
Can i actually install the 4k video mod for my unrooted device?
Cuz i have kitkat 4.4.2 and i have to go back to 4.2 and then root it, and then install it.
Someone told me that its impossible to root device who's running kitkat, that's why im asking.

No you cannot because the mod needs permission which cannot be grated without root but there are alternatives to have kk, root abd custom recovery depending on your device but they all involve downgrading to 4.2

I want to upgrade from MLG to NC2 too. However, there is no direct way to do it at the moment.
However, if you are still at A2, you can use Safestrap to switch between MJ5 and NC2 (Please don't flash NC2 aboot.mbn!!!!!!)
Yes there is just do the mj5 restore that is in this section then follow one of the guides on how to install the ota

As Jerrycoffman said. . . .
Restore back to MJ5 using this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
Don't root using the last part. It removes knox which will block you from being able to update the phone.
Next there will be a OTA to install its around 60mb. This is NB4
Lastly, just download kitkat OTA that's available. This may take sometime because it is a larger file size.
A lot of people have had issues installing the Kitkat OTA (including me). It fails at a certain percentage.
If you have this problem just follow this guide to fix it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701062
Make sure you back up any apps and files you need before starting this
Honestly instead of upgrading to official KK, why don't you just root and flash of of the available KK rom which is so much better than stock. Unless you don't care about the custom rom and root, you can follow what other has suggested to get the official OTA. Once you update thought, no way to get it root anymore

Agree 100%!!!

There is absolutely NO reason, if you follow instructions correctly, to accept the official update. Been there, done that. Glad I returned my OFFICIAL 4.4.2 phone and got another one to keep root on!!!

Isis can work on kit kat. I had it working but changed to wallet out of principal

Best solution:
Go to Best Buy and ask one of the Samsung people to get you to stock, in less than 10 to 15 minutes you'll be in OTA Kit Kat.
No reason to have OTA kitkat when you lose root.
I use ISIS daily with the following mod

hey so im a noob right now, this is my first post on here and ive been searching for endless hours looking for an answer.
I have a
Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T SGH-I337 (got in Arizona, but says Made in Korea)
Firmware: 4.4.3
im trying to find a method that will work for my phone to root it, i have a 32 gb sd card and ive read that other people are not successful with the same phone as me, something like it being "bootlock" by the carrier in this case "AT&T" .

but ive looked around for solutions and cant seem to find one.
if there is anyone who can help me root my phone, ill give you any info that you need from my phone,
thanks !
There is no direct root method for KitKat. So, you have to do a partial downgrade to MK2(4.3), root and then install a pre-rooted KitKat ROM.
