Anyone else notice there charger is super loose and barely stays in or is it just mine. It feels like the pin isn't long enough.
Yea I think its just your phone...i have 2 and they work fine...can hold it from the charger and it won't fall out.

Yes mine too, the pin is too long and does'nt go in all the way; almost a deal breaker among other things.

I don't think so, the xoom is too heavy to be held from the charger? in fact the whole charging system is a big flaw in this tablet, I am very disappointed.
Yep. Loose charger here too.

Very disappointed they couldn't do a charge over USB. I was reading that the reason they can't charge over the USB port is that the batteries are so big and draw so much power to charge that the micro USB wouldn't be able to offer the throughput to charge it up fast enough.
Not sure how much I buy that, but at any rate they could've come up with a charging port combo that doesn't look like it came from a Nokia I bought 10 years ago lol.
Well it seems that the charger port and piece are affecting a few of you guys. But mine is good. No problem here. But that said, I was still pretty disappointed I couldn't use the same port as the phone.

I was upset about this at first as well but then again with essentially a 10 hour non stop usage time I will never have the charger in while using it. I also think it adds incentive to buy the Standard dock which at $39.99 isnt exactly terrible.
But still...why the dinky little charger?!
Yeah same problem here, I hate the charging system here.

I agree. It reminds me of a phone I had years ago.
I agree, but 10 hour battery life and 100% charge in about an hour? It's a fair trade off. I agree, though, that the attachment is tiny (wouldn't say "loose," though). Better than a dock port connector, but I'd prefer something a bit more robust. Meh.
The charger on mine is horrible.
I was sketchy at best brand new, a month in and it doesn't work at all.
At first I had to fiddle with it, get the xoom at just the right angle etc to get it to charge. Now it doesn't make contact at all. I didn't return it right away because I heard some of the issues, but figured it did work just not well.
Once it crapped out completely it was past my 30 return window.
I ended up buying the charging dock. This works fine and the "road charger' that came with it works fine (so far) as well. I am thinking of just throwing in my gimpy charger in the box and returning the dock as it is pretty over priced and i feel a bit miffed that i had to pan an additional $50 just to charge my xoom.
Has anyone with the verizon model used the wireless charging? I'm just curious how well it works. I have never had a phone that was able to do that so I have no gauge on how well the technology works.
Thanks
I got the official LG WCP-300 Qi wireless charger along with my Verizon G2 on release and it works well. The charging coils are located under the camera towards the lower half of the phone and you don't need you to find the 'sweet spot' for it to detect the charging pad. It obviously doesn't charge as quickly as plugging into the wall charger but it charges my phone from about 20% to full within 5 hours. I have the charging pad always plugged in on my nightstand next to my bed and it doesn't go anywhere. Hope this answers your question!
Edit: There's an LED on the front of the pad that glows a soft amber when not charging and turns to a bright blinking green during use. I just turn the LED away from my head at night and it doesn't bother me at all.
Yeah that helps. Does it work with a case on it? I'm thinking about just getting one that I can use at work. Leave it on my desk and just charge it as needed. It may may make things easier than having to worry about plugging it in off and on throughout the day. I probably don't need one really because the battery does last me all day, but I tend to get anxiety once the battery hits the 50% mark.
It works just fine with my LG QuickWindow case. I initially bought the charging pad for the same purpose that you want to do with it but after using it, I didn't think it would be worth it to leave at my desk at work simply due to the slower charging vs USB. If I left my phone on the pad every now and then it would only charge a few percent each time.
I'm using the anker one and it works very well with cases on. Doesn't get hot either
I'm using it with the stock gel case with no issues.

Is it possible to get the international G2 wireless charging ?
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I got the Tylt Vu. It works great. It sits by my bedside. Every morning my phone is at 100%.
I have the Incipio Feather case, although I'm not using it currently, but I tried it on, and put it on the Tylt Vu, and it started charging with the case on.
I have a Nokia charger with the Diztronic case.. works fine.
I had the Samsung charger tray for the Galaxy S4, they mostly worked, but you had to scoot them up pretty high in the tray to get the thing aligned.. sent them back.
Nokia has 3 coils so it kinda self aligns.
So has anyone used the wireless charging with a thicker case? I'm going to be getting a G2, but the only thing that worries me is the lack of bezel. I'm paranoid that I'm going to drop it and want to get a thicker case.
I use it daily. Nokia fatboy. charge it over night every night through my incipio feather case. charged through the Verizon TPU as well.

Thinking of getting the s5.... How much of a PITA is it to keep opening or closing the flap when charging?

its annoying if you keep your nails short
a wireless s-view charging case and pad solved that issue for me
I don't find it annoying at all, I also charge it in the car often, although you'll also find that the battery life is amazing, so I charge it a lot less than any other android I've ever had.

You can easily remove it by unscrewing a plastic block and then you can safe-keep the flap if you need resell the phone.

the problem with the wireless charge is the rate of charge is way too slow still.... it's good if you have it in a place were you'll leave the phone for a long time.....

I can't comment on the speed of in car wireless chargers as I don't have one but the wireless charger I have at home isn't that slow at all, arguably if it's in a car then it will be on charge for the duration of the journey and so the time it takes to charge becomes slightly irrelevant.
Also charge time is dependant upon the current that the receiver can draw and the current that the base can deliver. The Base and receiver combination I have can work at about 800mA and so once you take a bit off for the inefficiency of wireless charging then they're not that much slower than a mains charger. if the 5V supply from your car charger can only deliver 500mA then yup it's gonna take a while It pays to look closely into the specs of these things before parting with your hard earned as cheap usually means just that.....sorry gone off topic

800mA charging versus 1.8mA charging is quite a difference, so yes, even at home, wireless charging is slow
and even slower in the car

I guess I'm just not in that much of a rush to charge my phone then
I went into my carriers store yesterday to look at the s5 and xperia z2. Came out with the z2. That darn flap would annoy me to buggery.
The z2 has the magnetic port on the left side which makes it slightly better.
Not wishing to troll, I've always been a Samsung fan since the Note2 and have upgraded to the s4 and then most recently the note 3 but the s5 didn't stand out for me.
Ok the z2 hasn't got all the features of the s4 or s5 but most of which I never used anyway, and those I did I used rarely.
Maybe in 6 months I'll go back to the Note when the 4 is released lol

Haha.
Wouldnt it be nice if we could take the best bits of several phones and amalgamate them together to make the perfect phone.
There is no perfect for everyone phone out there.
I change phones every few months now, so I suppose I know if I don't get along with the z2 I will sell it on.
So far I'm liking it though... The Sony skin isn't as heavy as TW. Can't say I'm missing any of the TW features yet... I think most are nice to have features but not essential.

I haven't seen this covered and if it has been, I'd appreciate anyone posting a link to the article. Does the Note4 support wireless charging or will we have to get one of those stickers as we have to do for the Note 3?
Thanks in advance
nevermind, answered my own question, same crap. How come they can include wireless charging in the S5 but not in the Note4? Seems like they did some great stuff that seemed very basic and rushed the Note4 out without the same tech such as dust and waterproof. I don't get it.
I have been wondering the same thing. I certainly won't get one unless it has Qi charging. I am assuming they will release a wireless back cover again.

I don't want to buy another back or another "sticker". How is it other models have it built in and this, their "latest" version doesn't? This is truly a step backward in the Note series. Huawei's devices are looking very nice right now.
I wonder if the quick charging will work with wireless charging?

No. They are two separate things... a given Qi charger only puts out a limited amount of power.
Do the Huawei phones have wireless charging? After you mentioned Huawei I checked out some of their best devices but couldn't see any wireless charging options.
If it is wireless charging, does it mean it will have a magnetic back? I need that so I can stick it to my car CD slot caddy.

^^What he said^^ and theres no way any wireless charger can do that, also given my experience with the LG G3 I am not ruling out damage to the battery or device due to overheating whilst wireless charging, my battery life on G3 perished after such time as I started using wireless charger.
I may be wrong, however, its fairly coincidental.
On a related note the pins are definitely there for wireless charging but no coil as far as I can tell.
Note 4 DOES support wireless charging with the correct door and or cheap coil which im sure will be available soon.
Glad to hear that it supports Qi charging (with add on). Since going wireless on my Note 3 I'll never plug my phone in again.
I'm pretty sure the reason the Note wasn't certified dust and water-resistant is the large long opening in it to accommodate the S-Pen.

I don't see why Samsung or any smartphone company hasn't started using the vapor/nano-coat waterproofing. It wouldn't matter how big any hole is. See HzO, P2i and others.
The day I get my Note 4 I'm sending it in to get 'vaporized'. Only ~50 bucks, totally worth it for a $1000 device that fits in your pocket.
Idk why Samsung doesn't include the wireless charging back to begin with. That way all the cases would still fit it. It's irritating to say the least.

Same here. I use the stock samsung wireless cover I think I got for 20 bucks for my note 3. It works great with the TYLT and I don't use usb anymore. Even when traveling I have a portable battery "ravpower" with QI built in and it works great.
Because then they couldnt charge you the $40 for a new back.

So here is the question: as there is no official wireless charger for Priv, which 3rd-party wireless charger available is best for it?

I don't have priv yet, but planning to buy one in a few days. These are the wireless chargers I was looking at:
1) Anker
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_5&smid=A294P4X9EWVXLJ
2) Spigen
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_6&smid=A2SFKRF5TPZMT5
3) MoKo
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_7&smid=A2VT4H683M5NNA
4) Choetech
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_8&smid=A1NCVKF8LXGAA9
#3 has AC adapter included, but that is about it. I want it to be like a stand, so it will be easier to see what if I get a text, call...
Not sure if you bought one yet, but I've had mine for a few days and I can tell you the wireless chargers that will work well with this will be a select few. It seems the coil in the PRIV is near the very bottom of the back, so chargers like the spigen listed above (Which I have and use with my Nexus 7 LTE) don't work well at all. It continuously connects and disconnects because the coil is so low on the PRIV that it doesn't line up well. I also have the most recent Samsung QI charger that I got for my Note 5, and that one actually works pretty well because you can set the PRIV on it towards the very bottom of the device. Another example is trying to us the Nexus QI charging orb, which the PRIV won't work well with because putting it on there so close to the bottom causes the device to fall over the top because it's top heavy. So long story short a pad or flat surface charger will most likely be best as it allows you to position the device properly. Hopefully this helps!
PS: This is the best device I've had in a long time, and I've owned most current and past flagships. Reminds me of my days on webOS with my Palm Pres...but a million times better!

The reason I asked is because I read that some user had issues with some phones which would disconnect/re-connect, but when placed horizontally on the charger, all was well.

Yes it does wort of work. The problem is that the coil is so low on the Priv that it falls of when trying to put it on there horizontal. Same with the Nexus orb. It's kind of annoying. One solution with the spigen is to put something under the priv when it's on there horizontal so it meets up with the higher coil as the spigen has three coils.

Do you know if the main difference is the "fast charging" and if Priv might benefit from the below charger vs yours?
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Fast-...8755&sr=1-9&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger
As far as I know the PRIV is not compatible with Fast Wireless Charging, but I'm not sure. The issue is simply the placement of the PRIV's wireless coil in the back of the phone. It's nearly at the very bottom of the phone so it doesn't align well with some wireless chargers. Most phones have the coil in the middle of the back.

Looks like Fast Charging is for samsung phones. I found couple of interesting chargers which are vertical:
1) http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Miko...636&sr=8-5&keywords=vertical+wireless+charger

I think I would get the first one....
Anyone tried the Samsung wireless charger? I was trying with the Samsung wireless charger for S6 but it doesn't work...
Just found out my device is STV100-3 which doesn't support wireless charging.... Darn darn darn..... Ahhhhhhhhh
It should work with any QI wireless charger, assuming you have a model with wireless charging built in.
UPDATE: Contrary to my previous posts...the spigen charger referenced in this thread DOES work with the PRIV. I tried it again last night with a different cable and charger and it does work perfectly. It must have been an issue with the cable and charger I was using with it previously not providing enough voltage or something. Sorry for the incorrect information.
Also, I can confirm it does work with the Samsung chargers, but the PRIV's coil is at the very bottom so you have to line up the very bottom of the phone onto the charger. Hope this helps.

Moko Standup Charger
My priv has the official blackberry leather flip case, and I'm only interested in chargers that work with the phone in the case.
I just got the Moko stand up Qi charger a few days ago and it does NOT work reliably with the Priv in a case. It seems to work some of the time, but the night before last it charged to 60% and stopped. It's pretty easy to reproduce this behavior since it's never charged to 100%. One strange thing is that even when it only charged to 60%, it's pretty warm between the Priv and the stand. I know lipo lifetime is accelerated with heat, so I don't think using this, even if charges to 60% is a great idea..
I have a cheap square samsung charger that seems to work better, but you have to find the sweet spot.
I'm still looking for one that is 100%. Eventually, I want two, one for my desk and one for my car (air vent) but I'm definitely not going to try the Moko car version.
EDIT: I made shim (out of cardboard for now) to raise the phone up in the Moko dock by 1/2 inch. It charged to 100% for the first time! The phone is still pretty warm (about 94 degrees F) but that might be the way all of the Qi chargers work.

I have a cheap square samsung charger that seems to work better, but you have to find the sweet spot.
I'm still looking for one that is 100%. Eventually, I want two, one for my desk and one for my car (air vent) but I'm definitely not going to try the Moko car version.

Just about to get my Priv (FINALLY!), buying stuffs to armor it up - quick chargers, cases etc..
So here is the question: as there is no official wireless charger for Priv, which 3rd-party wireless charger available is best for it?

This Meenova wireless charging dock is another choice -- adjustable, drop & charge.
