[Q] Galaxy S5 Launcher? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know this seems like a noob question, but I am very curious..
Is it possible to get a S5 launcher for the G2?
I quite like it :silly:

The galaxy s5 isn't even out yet if someone's wants to make one for aosp which they probably will when the s5 is released

[Q] Google's ROM? [UPDATE: June 30th]

Hey guys
So Google will be releasing their own version of the Galaxy S4 ("Clean" Version) pretty soon.
Will we be getting the chance to install this ROM over our current phones? (i9505 + i9500)
Or is it just for people who bought this specific phone?
Thank you,
Omga4000

Looks like we will be getting this clean ROM after all!! Yay!!
Most likely yes. Devs should be able to port it over. However it looks like many of the sensors won't work. Ie infrared

I think the i9500 will be left out.

Check this link -> Site
If somehow, CM10.1 arrived at i9500 variant then google AOSP may be come over 9500.

Because the Google edition will be the I9505G, i.e. using the Qualcomm SoC.

Yes figured it's going to be snapdragon..

With regards to aosp roms, the i9500 is doomed, my friend. Doomed. Anyone compiling aosp for i9500 is wasting their time because exynos 5410 is even worse than 44xx.
So the joke's on you for not buying the qcomm version.

I don't see the joke here..
In what way is it my fault I live in Europe
and Samsung decided to market the OCTA version here?
Anyway - yesterday Samsung began releasing the open source code
for the i9500, so future may be brighter than you think

I live in Europe as well but luckily they chose to market the LTE variant here. You could have imported an i9505, though.
Look, what they release on arndale has nothing to do with what they have in their phones. If I'm wrong on that, I'd request an insight from @Entropy512 because he knows a lot about this stuff.
I would like a better insight as well.

Remember, this is a stock Android UI - so far, nothing more (such as AOSP support) has been announced, and I suspect it's unlikely. So it actually will be of zero benefit for AOSP bringups like CM.
As far as porting it just like porting a TW firmware between Qcom devices? Maybe, I don't know how successful people have been in doing such a thing. (e.g. if they've got it as automated as I did with Hellraiser on the I777).
Since I9500 is Exynos, the Google Edition is of zero use for that device.
As I said long ago when the Google Edition was first announced:
If it's not AOSP supported, it basically means nothing
If it's AOSP supported and qcom, it's nice but not a huge benefit since CAF is already quite good
If it's AOSP supported and Exynos, that's a game changer and would be what would cause me to consider Samsung again. But we know for certain it's not Exynos, and it's highly unlikely it'll be AOSP supported - Samsung's underlying base software is too Samsunged (hacked up) in the non-GE GS4s for them to have AOSP support any time soon. The Google Edition is just covering up their crappy underlying software with a less sucky UI as far as I can tell. We'll know for sure when the device is released.

They won't be able to include Samsung drivers into the device. If you use a non stock rom now watch on won't work because it doesn't know where to find the infrared.
I hope that Google does it right and gets the sensors to work but at this point it doesn't seem like they will. Maybe Samsung will release the drivers someday

Seriously starting to doubt it.
I'm actually thinking of selling my device and getting the snapdragon variant.
I heard there's going to be a version with the snapdragon 800 + LTE
so I might wait for that and replace my phone.
So sad

[Q] Google Play Edition for Sprint?

The Play store says that the GPe phone can work with sprint. Is that still the international version of the device? If so, does LTE work? I'm confused because we have the ROM, but we're still having trouble getting everything to work on our network.
Thanks everyone

No, it won't run on CDMA networks. Only for GSM networks. That is a reason as to why we are having such issues getting things to work properly on a ported version of S4 GE ROM. It WOULD be nice though.

[Q] Cyanogenmod on AT&T Galaxy S4

Is there any way I can install Cyanogenmod on an AT&T Galaxy s4 Baseband: I337UCUEMK2?
No, same situation as MF3.
I'm really beginning to consider a Nexus device..

Same here but I've only have Samsung phones since...well... 2006 or so. No breaks, no bricks, not even a cracked screen. Coming from the, so easy to root it's a joke GS3, it's odd seeing it all locked down like this.

Know issues and general feedback

I might be picking up an S4 very soon, I am looking for some overall feed back and known issues that people have encountered
If any one cares to share some experiences and links. I am not asking what other phones are good so let's keep this on topic
Thanks!

You can't go wrong getting an S4! Very snappy phone out of the box, I myself just like to root and get rid of the bloat and it runs great! As for ROMS, I will not go there, everyone has there own opinion. Be for warned, you will most likely get the SPH-720T, TriBand phone, not much support yet, maybe someday.

When you say no triband support are there no ROMs for the triband version ? Or the ROMs that exist are not working with triband
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Roms work on a triband phone but you lose triband connectivity. So you will have LTE still but no Spark LTE.

I've had my S4 since release (preordered) and I have no complaints about the phone. Coming from a S2, it was a huge upgrade in every way. Even when compared to my Nexus 5 and Note 3, I like my S4 more, seriously.
I use Hololauncher as my launcher of choice and my phone is currently Rooted & running Xposed + several modules.
To increase enjoyability, I replaced the OEM battery with a ZeroLemon 3000mah one. Lasts longer, of course, and the battery has been quality.

+1 for Holo Launcher, I have bought nova and apex but I always come back to holo. Snappy, light and has just the necessary features for me. Huge improvement over stock launcher.

Request S5 nbench results

I hear the S5 is faster than the S4.
By how much?
Could someone with a stock/untweaked S5 install nbench http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.drolez.nbench and post the results?

My main reason for the switch was for the camera, and it was worth the upgrade! Speed and whatnot, of course are better too!
