Can anyone help?
Legend, running SuperFroyo 4.2
I've successfully installed and used the HTC IMe keyboard on my phone.
However, every time I reboot, the HTC keyboard is un-selected and disabled.
Before I can use it again, I have to go back into the settings and re-enable it, and then make the choice to use it as the input method.
Is there any way I can force the phone to have this enabled and selected as the default keyboard?
Cheers.
Don't install the keyboard on the SD card.

D'oh!!
Of course - why didn't I think of that??!!
Just wanted to mention that the official Android L launcher works on our Tabs
I have attached the .apk
You have to change the build.prop to get the new UI
set ro.build.version.codename to L and reboot
It works also as a system app, no FC's.
Supports 4.2.2 / 4.3 / 4.4.2
Note: You have to update/download the latest Google Search app and Google Mail may force closing
Proceed with caution, you may end up having boot-loops !

thanks
good to know, thanks!
Not quite...
UA,
hi i would ask that you amend your post to mention this launcher requires google search to be functional.
As per your instructions I did so and the launcher does not register as system app without google search,
and on regular install call for updated google search to function.
thank you for reading.

When you say, "set it to L", you ARE referring to the property value under where it says ro.build.etc.... correct?

Yes, you have to set the value for ro.build.version.codename to the letter L.
PHP:
ro.build.version.codename=L

What device do you have?
What Android is it running?
Did you deinstall, Touchwiz (Samsung stock) launcher?
Did you set the launcher as a system app?

gt-5200, 4.4.2 deodexed stock...
No i did not, i just installed given apk (it updated current google now launcher), and changed build.prop
anyway, i tryed to fix premisions, and delete the google launcher from the app folder from recovery, but still rebooting continued.
and while trying to fix the build.prop from the recovery, i funked the system a bit, so a reflashed the whole rom again, so I'm back at the begining... (no new launcher, but tab works fine...)

It seems like, you screwed up inside the build.prop
Or, it only works as a system app on 4.4.2, that would be bad.
I will check that, thank you for trying and sorry if you got any problems because of me.

well, i used root explorer to edit build.prop, and i didnt change anything except switch REL with L...
but i guess build.prop was screwed somehow, it managed to stay on for a while before the reboot a few times (for about half a minute), but it kept giving the fc error screens for play services, mail, etc, and then restarted again.
I will try it in a few minutes!

When first time I installed this launcher I changed the build.prob as u said....
And after a week I came to know that gmail is get fc's every time
I saw the log of gmail and came to know that the changes made in the build.prob coz of that gmail app getting fc...
Then I changed it to og value in build.prob
From then everything is working totally fine
So I don't think that we should change the codename, without changing it everything is working fine...even gmail app

Hi all!
I'm trying to permanently disable the Samsung Keyboard. The problem is, randomly the keyboard will be set back as my default. If I uncheck the keyboard and reboot the device, it is checked again. I'd like to use swiftkey as my primary keyboard, but not if I have to change back every few hours.
Anyone know how to resolve this issue?
I'm rooted and running Dynamic Kat v4. I have chosen to use the stock keyboard under the roms settings.
Thanks!

Once you installed a different keyboard go to /system/app and add .bak to LatinIME.apk (LatinIME.apk.bak) or delete it, reboot and the Samsung keyboard will not start up again.
As you've rooted your device, you can permanently delete samsung keyboard from system - app..
Better keep a backup first of those files which you want to delete.. So later if you face any problem, so you can restore them..

If rooted, other solution after installing other keyboard (mine's swipe keyboard) is to freeze samsung keyboard by Titanium Backup.
That's what I did and works well.
Best regards
Franky
Thanks for the help all.
I couldn't find LatinIME.apk, maybe because I have a custom rom loaded or I wasn't using the right tool to look for the file. I tried file manager and even windows explorer when connected to my PC but didn't find the file.
Used Titanium Backup and it worked like a charm.
Thanks all!
Trying to help, I post here the file I'm using to debloat new 6.0.1
All seems to be working fine.
It's a heavy debloating: I am disabling also Samsung account, shop, themes (apply your preferred one before disabling). I am saving Samsung touch wiz and Keyboard, even if I am using Google Launcher and Keyboard, as it's always safe to have them.
[Update]
New file as previous one was broken.
Hi,
How do you use this .xml file ??
Thanks for your thread by the way
Buy for a couple of bucks Package Disabler Pro and import this file. Then customize at need.
Your list does not work
I click import, search the file in the folder and then nothing happens
Greets
Try the new one and let me know.
There has been an update in the app and they have changed the xml format.
Thanx
The new one work.
But there are much more apps to disable like Adapt Sound f.e.
Or see Screenshot
Greets
I bought this app, and when i tried to activate it, it didn't worked...
I tried 2 times already...
And this app only disabled or we can delete the apps as well ? Because after every reboot we'll have to do it again right ?

What is the exact problem?
This app disables only and no need to reapply at each boot.

One note: do not disable COM.ANDROID.EXTERNALSTORAGE if you are using USB otg
When I press import it doesn't do anything, I'm I doing something wrong?
I completely removed Google Keyboard from stock rom (Moto X Play, 6.0.1) and installed Hacker's Keyboard instead. Everything works fine, but when phone boots and the screen appears where you have to enter the password to decrypt the device no keyboard is present on screen. I can go around it with USB OTG and physical PC keyboard but this is not something I can do anytime as I don't carry the keyboard with me. Is there any way to use custom keyboard to decrypt the phone or is it somehow set to work with Google keyboard only? Hacker's Keyboard is installed in /system/app if that matters. TIA

Decrypt when you reboot. It works in TWRP, but TWRP has its own keyboard. I set HKeyboard as default, but it's not working on decrypt screen for some reason.

Hmmm..... Have you tried installing the keyboard to /system/priv-app instead? Not sure if that will work but it may be worth a try.

Thanks but it doesn't work either. I suspect Google keyboard has a special privilege built in "for security reasons".
