Can't flash anything with Odin! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi everyone. I have a canddian (virgin mobile) i337m S4, running omi rom (4.4.2-20140313-jfltecan-nightly). I'm trying to flash a modem with odin and everytime I do I get stuck with a completed(write) operation failed error on my PC and a secure check error on my phone screen. I've used every single version of Odin I can find, tried different PCs, Ports, Cables ect.. still the same error. In fact Odin will not let me flash anything be it kernels, firmware ect. Same goes for mobile odin... I get a write protection enabled, skipping flash error with anything I try to do. I have disabled all firewalls, anti virus, keis, downloaded the correct drivers ect. I'm at a loss. I'm able to flash firmwares, kernels ect through CWM still, however the modem I am looking for is not available in a zip file. Any help would be spectacular!

What I'm trying to do is flash the latest Omega Rom (v24 for 9505) onto my phone. I can get everything working except for wifi... I've flashed previous omega's onto my phone with no issue.

SOLVED!
Still couldn't get odin to flash anything, but I flashed the latest Adam kernel through cwm and all is well on the wifi front.

[Q] Updated to KNOX, can't restore with KIES or ODIN, soft brick??

Hi guys
Sorry this is my first post and it will be a bit long but I've searched everywhere, absolutely everywhere with no luck at all.
So tonight I originally tried to update my MODEM to a Telstra one, and I flashed it via ODIN.
The ODIN flash failed and I stupidly pulled the phone out, and it gave me the dreaded
PHONE-----YELLOW TRIANGLE----- COMPUTER
'Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
I tried flashing a 4.3 KNOX stock rom later on (I realised it was a big mistake), that failed in ODIN as well
I have also tried re-partitioning with a PIT file as well via ODIN but it doesn't really help
ODIN keeps hanging on the "system" flashing command and goes to a red "fail". It won't start flashing "system.ext4.... etc"
I've tried all versions of ODIN and all version of 4.3
I can't use any 4.2.2 roms as the phone only seems to accept 4.3 stock roms now.
I've also tried KIES, but KIES will not recognise my phone, and ODIN hangs at 'system.ext4...' (can't remember, something similar, definitely said system)
So I have a completely bricked phone now... I can only get into TEAMWIN recovery but it won't connect to USB at all.
I absolutely can't flash anything with it failing in ODIN and KIES won't recognise my phone. I've put it in 'download mode' as well..
I've also tried flashing roms through TEAMWIN/CWM recovery but it instantly fails.
Are there any options open to me? I'm really scared that I have an expensive paperweight....

Try another usb port (recommended: back of the computer)
and flash again via Odin stock base rom 4.3
P.S: I was getting the similar problem you have. another usb port helped me

Thanks Yeah I've tried that, I've tried front, back, on a laptop, but Odin still red fails at the writing 'System' (the largest 'chunk' of the tar.md5 file) no matter which 4.3 rom I try
I so upset :crying:

Hello,
For my part, I also encountered problems! the only rom that is passed via ODIN after testing 5 other is:
I9505XXUAMDF_I9505PHNAMD8_PHN
But if Knox! possible that this does not happen either?
*************
For me I do:
1 - Flash with Odin Pit
2 - Flash with ODIN last recovery philz_touch_5.15.8-i9505.zip
3 - Wip full recovery for new rom
4 - Flash the I9505XXUAMDF_I9505PHNAMD8_PHN
And then this happened.

I thought with the official 4.3 new bootloader, we cant downgrade to 4.2.2.
Try another Odin version or extract the .tar file via Winrar (rename it from .tar.md5 to .tar if your file ending at .tar.md5) and flash the system.img.ext4 via this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333807 see if you getting error with this tool while flashing the system.img.ext4
and then try to flash again with odin
P.S. While flashing via Odin kill in Task Manager Kies and related process and flash again

Hey Bordo
Thankyou so much for your suggestion - I will try the individual component flasher later tonight and then write back on what happens
I will also remember to kill Kies with task manager beforehand, before using ODIN or any other flasher :good:
Thankyou so much for your time and effort in trying to help!!!! Much appreciated

I9505 no sound, no calls, cant flash with odin

Hi!
My phone is a standard samsung I9505 and i live in Sweden.
Everying i descripe here i have done with 2 diffrent usb cabels stock from s4 and s1 on 3 diffrent computors and in all usb ports. I have killed kies in taskmanager if its there and the phone comes up ok in Odin. I have tried it with odin vers. 1.85, 3.07 and 3.09.
Okey it all started with me flashing CWM recovery with odin and something whent wrong. I got a fail and then i flashed stock recovery and tried to install I9505_-_Official_Google_Edition_4.4.2_by_Jamal2367_Final-R1.2 via the stock bootloader and it failed. Then i got the black screen with "Firmware update encounterd an issue... kies..".
So i tried to flash I9505XXUEMKF_I9505OXXEMK4_I9505XXUEMKF but i only got auth fail on aboot.mdn. Then the only thing that worked for me was to flash I9505XXUAMDE-Stock-Recovery.tar.md5. Then the phone got back to life and stock firmware booted up. But this time it had no media sound and i was not able to recive or make phonecalls, black screen, laggy and no sound. But everthing els worked. So i did som factory wipes and cache but stil no sound.
I tried again to flash other stock fw but allways failed on aboot.mbn. I then tried to flash diffent recovery TWPR and CWM but none worked i the got "There is no PIT partition." i even tried to flash CSB_signed_Fusion3_EUR_0325_V2.pit but that fialed to with re-partion ticked (IIIIIIH) but i could still go to downloadmode after.
I also tried to do the emergency firmware stuff and firmware upgrade initialisation with Kies with no success.
After a while i finaly got CWM recovery 6.0.4.7 to flash. And now it that works. So i installed galaxy s4(I9505)Official_Google_Edition_4.3_MH5 via CWM recovery and it booted with the google logo and started optimizing apps but then it got stuck. I rebooted wiped and nothing, tried to install it again and wipe but it wont even come to the optimizing apps.
So i downloaded cm-10.2.0-jfltexx and installed (via cwm recovery) it and it works, but i still have no sound and cant recive or make any calls.
After this i have tried to flash(with odin):
- I9505XXUEMJ7_I9505VDSEMJ8_I9505XXUEMJ7_HOME.tar.md5
- I9505XXUEMKF_I9505OXXEMK4_I9505XXUEMKF_HOME.tar.md5 (again)
- I9505XXUENA4_I9505NEEENA1_I9505XXUENA4_HOME.tar.md5 (i think this one is the latest)
All donwloaded from sammobile or samfirmware.com.
All fails on aboot.mdn (fail Auth) and i get this in the phones download mode
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
eWWC Burst control: Enable
Start [224, 1440]
SW. Rev. CHECK FAIL : fused :4, Binary : 3
(I have Knox warranty 0x1 after installing CWM recovery)
This happends no matter what in odin..
The only thing that works is Cm10.2.0 rom and thers is no sound.
What should i do?! This is the 3rd day without any calls or sound and i use the phone both in work (i have a small business) and at home.
Please Help!

You can no longer downgrade to 4.3 stock rom mate it shows that you flashed the 4.4.2 kitkat.
The only thing that works is Cm10.2.0 rom and thers is no sound. Download and extract this File and flash the .Tar file via odin by Selecting Phone/Cp.

Same issue - any help?
Hi - I believe I've managed to run into the same problem as poster.
I have just flashed the new Echoe Rom for my I9505. I couldn't manage to get the correct modem file flashed (tried a few), so attempted to go back to my CWM backup (which was 4.2 based).
However once on my backup, I cannot make calls & there is no sound.
Any help is hugely appreciated.
Thanks

[Q] Bricked SM-G900W8 looking for partition file

Hello, I am relatively inexperienced when it comes to flashing and have managed to brick my s5(rogers(SM-G900W8)canadian). I have looked around and it seems as though in order to get my phone to work I need a pit file for my phone. Problem is, I can't find one. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. by the way I have rooted and enabled usb debugging prior to being bricked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2800218&d=1402859206
so that should work?
Well that's the PIT file for your model phone, whether or not it unbricks it depends on what you did to brick it
I bricked it by attempting to flash philz touch recovery in odin 3.09 and it failed. Now I have the message:"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." on my phone, I tried doing exactly that but kies detects my phone but never finishes loading it up. So I tried flashing the stock firmware for my device model and got the same issue I did when attempting to flash the recovery. As far as i know I didn't do anything wrong as i was very careful to select the right files, etc. but clearly I did.
Well you've got nothing to lose by trying the PIT file
Not flashed PIT before so read up on exactly how to do it first, this is the thread I got the link for your phone from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737448
Tried flashing the file and that failed as well... not looking too good.
I guess my phone's useless now.
Did you check the "Re-Partition" in ODIN?
Are you using the latest version of ODIN3 (3.10.6) ?
Try ODIN3 version 3.0.7 too
(Obviously) Got phone in download mode
Tried just flashing a stock ROM from sammobile
Tried flashing the stock ROM along with the PIT file & Stock ROM together?
tried it all, when trying to flash the pit file as well though it gives me "SECURE CHECK FAIL : PIT" on my phone. whenever I try to flash it it always fails at system.img.ext4 with Complete(Write) operation failed.
I think I know the issue now, I'm using VMware, which apparently doesn't work. Will try on a windows pc in a while. thanks
Ah right, yea always best from a native PC
Let us know if you get it working
It worked and then I installed the newest cyanogenmod.

N910C EFS partition is ?corrupted? Not a single ROM boots. In dire need of help.

Everything was fine until I flashed CM13 unofficial.
Now, my bootloader is updated to 6.0 (COJ5 something or COH4), I can't revert to something prior to that: odin fails at sboot.bin NAND write start fail.
-While this issue has occured to many others than me, I'm the only one who can't even boot into CM13 or AOSP based ROMs, even after pushing different variants of ROMs several times through ADB, bootloops are still persistent.
-Any other 5.1.1 Official ROM that's not COJ5 or COH4 fails to flash at odin. COJ5/COH4 ROMS flash succesfully, but the phone doesn't boot past the samsung text.
-I have tried flashing various COH4 ROMS along with their AP,BL,CSC etc, everything flashes succesfully apart from the bootloader file, and after that it's the same samsung text brick. I couldn't find the PIT files (bootloader csc n such) for COJ5..
Is there a place I can find a backed up EFS partion ?file? and restore it myself? Would this get me out of the****hole i'm currently in?
What can I do about this...

Yea i came across this, but there was one tiny problem
how on earth am i supposed to root, get busybox, and apply usb debugging on my phone while it has no functional ROM?
and how on earth am i supposed to transfer a backup from my ROMless phone?
Do you have a pit file for repartition
If so, access twrp , wipe everything including your internal storage. Then boot into download mode.
In the computer, load the pit file and your stock coj5 into Odin 3.10 , tick "repartition" and "Nand Erase All"then click start.
Back to your phone - which now should be boot looping - access the stock recovery and wipe. Root - try using a different root method like chainfire's Odin autoroot - then twrp ur phone. Flash cm13 then start running the steps I threaded ( [fix] note 4 exynos bootloop problem ...... )
PM me for what you get

Softbricked A5(2016) A510F - can't install firmware

Hey there!
So it seem like I bricked a friends A510F
Wifi, bluetooth, mobile data all weren't working properly and there were some minor difficulties with performance so we decided to install AOSP...
All her data is secured so I seached for a good ROM and tried to install TWRP from here. Installing via Odin sadly failed so now I have device without Android, only OdinMode is working, but all attempts to install either twrp for a custom ROM or Samsung original firmware failed...
Any clues what I'm doing wrong? Haven't done a Samsung device so far...
All suggestions welcome

Download repair firmware from xda and flash it through odin.it will probably work!

What happens when the phone is turned on? Does it get stuck in boot logo and stays like that? Try flashing stock bootloader. Also give details on which firmware u were on. What error do u get in odin?
Hello Sirs,
Please, can anybody help me? It is very weird what is happening!
After to go and download the original firmware in Sammobile, I used odin to install a stock rom! Odin is OK (process completed) but when it is trying to start, the logo samsung is blocked (bootloader). I have tried to modify the hidden.img to hidden.img.tar and I have use Odin but nothing looks like to work. Can anybody help me?
Thanks so much in advance!
Additional info: The device has not been rooted, etc.
hey i use a galaxy a510F currently and evertime i get FRP locked, software deleted, broken rom or twrp, my final solution is to odin flash a PERFECTLY WORKING STOCK ROM (which i had to try downloading from 3 or 4 different sites) and then i'd flash twrp ( official ) and restore one of by backups if needed. last time i had to flash because i hot frp locked tring out a new rom. i flashed over a stock rom and i got my phone working surprisingly without even losing my apps.
file i used is:" INS-A510FXXU8CSF1-20190710103917.zip"
pm me if u need a link (its in my drive)
