Which smartwatch to go for - Other SmartWatches

I'm looking into buying a smartwatch and I'm stuck at deciding which one to go for. The price can't be higher than 150$ because of my finances, so Gear and TrueSmart are out of my league.
I was looking more closely into SmartQ Z, ZGPax and Motorola Motoactv. I would use it mostly for everyday use and running. I also take in account the modding capability and apps that can run on it. I'm aware that ZGPax and Motoactv can basically be completely modified and can run most play store apps (and motoactv even has GPS build in). So what about SmartQ Z? Could I for example run edmondo sports tracker?
All answers are much appreciated. Oh and if it matters, I have a HTC One X running CM11, so compatibility shouldn't be an issue right?

I'm waiting the answer with you, I prefer SmartQ Z

I'm on my second motoACTV. It's amazing even if you don't root it and install custom roms.
My first ACTV lasted two years and is still working. I used it as a daily watch but also at the gym or for running. Sweat and rain damaged the buttons after 18 months of heavy use. Six months later (last month) I bought a new one for $125 at amazon. This one is a newer version of the device with a few design changes but it's still the same ACTV.
The funny thing is that the buttons on my old actv are working now perfectly lol.
But anyway, I would recommend the Actv because it's tough. Mine fell to the floor a lot and there are no scratches what so ever.
Battery life lasts like a week if you use it as a watch.
If you have wifi on and are downloading apps then screen time is 1-2 hours.
It's an impressive little device and it looks cool. And it's so amazing that it came in November 2011 yet it can do the same all these new devices do (except taking pictures).
And its price is also quite good on amazon. So I'd go for it.
Edit: motoactv app on the play store will let you sync everything, no matter on what Android phone you are. motoactv.com will track all your fitness data.

Thanks for the reply mtvdeo! Motoactv is really tempting I must say, mostly because it's more of a standalone watch with the gps and everything. Problem is though, I'm from central Europe (Slovenia) and getting even an used one is quite a pain. I couldn't find any under 150$ (If I take delivery and handling fees into consideration).

I was lucky since I went on vacation to the US and bought it from amazon.com for $110 (plus $15 dollar tax).
I'm from Latin America and it's quite a pain to buy stuff here. Tons of regulations and taxes. I'm basically not allowed to buy stuff from other countries where I live.
But maybe in your country you could buy from Amazon.com (USA site). It's really cheap there. I don't know about the shipping taxes and charge, though.
However, if you can wait a bit more, Google is announcing their watch in a few months. I think LG will make it. Motorola will also announce their new watch, which is rumored to have amazing battery life and great design. I'm really looking forward to the Motorola one (since I'm a fan of their designs).

The price I mentioned was from amazon, so yeah, too expensive for me. I ordered a ZGPAX yesterday, I'll see how it goes. I'm keeping my eye out on the Nexus smartwatch and the new motorola, I'll probably get one of them when they get released and sell the ZGPAX. :good:

I just ordered a samsung galaxy gear on ebay for a reasonable price. But then today I stumbled across the ZGPAX. The specs are pretty impressive for a $150 dollar watch

As far as I know, smartq Z doesnt' have a build-in GPU, so running games probably isn't exactly glorious.

Why did you choose Moto G?

For me, the reason is simple. I wanted something really practical, not over the top, with descent screen and performance.
Before that I was thinking about purchasing Xperia Z, but after seeing it in person, I was left with bad taste (and definite symptoms of buyer's remorse) , especially all this power under the hood, that cannot be managed properly and creates some heating issues. This is ridiculous, since I view it as a flaw that is plaguing all of them new and powerful phones. I came to realize I don't need their power or gigantic and unpractical, comically (by phone standards) big screens. And then there's the price they are asking for it. Thanks, but no thanks.
I bought the Moto G LTE and I really like the phone so far. Descent hardware, useful as a phone and nothing over the top.
This phone means serious business, and his looks and price show it.
a friend of mine gave me Motorola Razr (xt910) for 140€. Screen was excellent, the look and how it was made was excellent, camera was excellent, but there was terrible battery.. and in that time, I was student that travels 2 hours every day so I needed new motorola, with good battery, but I haven't any money. Then, 22.12.2013, I was with friends in a bar and I saw article about new budget motorola. Impressed me so much. I started to looking for that phone (still in the bar). I found one guy 20km away from me, he was selling new Moto G from Germany with charger and leather cover for 240€. I wrote him e-mail, if he will change phones, he replied yes if my Razr have microSIM. It had, so very next day (23.12.2013) I changed my 140€ razr for 240€ Moto G. The phone was really new and only problem was (and still is) stuck red pixel, but only visible on dark background... anyways, it was double win for me + I had best christmas ever. And I must say, this phone is truly awesome. I will always be with motorola/google/lenovo.That's my story

I have nothing better to do so I'll tell you my story. I allways wanted a Nexus device.. But where I live there is no chance to get one of these. And everything is overprized here.. So I was dissapointed with my situation. Also I always bought Sony phones.. Xperia X8, and Xperia tipo were my two last Android powered Sony smartphones.. But Sony really sucks when you see the update policy they have. My tipo was cappable of run Jellybean 4.1 but Sony never updated it.. And CM10 for it is so buggy... To sum up, Sony sucks.
After a while having that Xperia tipo I knew Moto G in an article in a blog, a guy was saying that some companies were selling Moto G overprized.. But what impressed me after searching some info was that now Motorola was using a pure Android experience and, in addition, they now were using on-screen buttons! That was something I allways wanted! And when I saw an IPS HD display, quad core CPU, I said I HAVE TO GOT ONE. But I didnt have any money so far... So I search for a mid time job and finally bought it.. I fell in love with this device.. Its great when it comes to performance and updates. Also I have the 16gb version and it is the color edition wich comes with Moto Shells of other collors. So, its great to see a good company that cares about people and delivers such a great Android experience.. I still have that Xperia and its a great phone but I will never again fall into Sony's trap. My next phone will obviously be from Motorola!!!!
I came from an xperia mini pro sk17i. I loved that phone for its hardware keyboard but as with most sony phones support was really bad and I'd decided to get a better phone that had better support + larger screen because the small screened xperia really started to show its age because more and more apps moved to catering for larger screened phones, and one phone came into mind and that being the moto g. I googled, made some effort to confirm that support was indeed good on this phone and next thing I knew the screen on my sk17i broke. I had the xperia since 2012
It was 2014 and all of that meant go time for a new moto g. Got mine and so far ive been happy; the moto g has a good build, a screen fit for one hand handling, and amazing battery life. The one thing thats been bothering me though is its not so great camera. It does good in daylight but not so well in the dark. I'm still getting used to using on screen keyboards. I guess i have no choice because there arent phones with HW keyboard at this price point AND good support.
Excellent device!
Excellent value ($66.31 + tax) (Quad Core, IPS display, solid construction, good reviews)
Good Development: Official Support on many Custom ROMS ( Kernel and ROM source available ) very important to me!
Will get Official Lollipop ( according to Motorola ): Didn't know this for sure when I bought it, but I suspected it would.
I always wanted cheap, but powerful phone with high durability, battery life and awesome performance. I thought it was just one of my wild dreams, but one day I found MOTO G, when I was looking for replacement of my old iPhone 4S. Today, I'm using it over 1 month, and it is the best phone I ever had
Best value and with extraordinary performance
Great value for a great price
I bought my moto G because it is extreme value for an affordable price
My S3 mini's battery died, and I found the incredible quality/price on the moto G, so I got the xt1033 3 days later, never regretted.
2 months later, I jumped in the sea with it in my pocket... Still a brick on my drawer now...
Well, I died without it, and 2 weeks later, I cracked, bought the 4G model (cheaper than xt1032 in Romania) and my happiness is there.
Here's my short and simple story :
There's 2 things I love -
- Always having the latest Android version
- GAMING!
But unfortunately I can never get my hands on expensive, overpriced devices that run like a dream; and even the Nexus phones seem are quite expensive frankly speaking.
Behold Motorola! Moto g was an angel descended to earth!
A dream come true! A (relatively speaking) behemoth of a device for 14k INR (~$229) filled the above criteria perfectly!
Haven't looked back ever since. And now I'm feeling ever so stoked knowing that Lollipop is around the corner

My S3 was glicthing up so I decided to get a phone for the amount of money I had at the time. I saw Android Authority's review for the phone.
Can't say I miss the S3 at all and the second generation G is 5 inches so if I ever feel the need to go back to big screens I can just sell this and get that. Amazing budget phone and I hope other companies follow suit.
Durable (for me anyway)
Nicely built, it doesn't feel like a cheap phone
Insane display for a phone it's price
In my case i wished to buy a budget phone with quality specs. I saw about moto g in an add in internet , i live in a village which far away from the city so i contacted my friend who lives in city for getting this device. At last i came to know that its 13999 INR in flipkart so i decided to buy it , started saving money for it little by little and at last i get this device in my hands and was happy till now . Now we get moved on to city side for continuing my studies, still i hope its the best best device . Thanks motorola and thank you friends for making me to share my thoughts here

Priceerformace
Because of price to performace ratio that is enough for my daily usage. Plus the size that's just right for my small hands.
I used to have the Xperia U and Sony didn't update it past 4.0, i was having GPS issues with the phone and tried to use it to play ingress, but it met an unfortunate end when it met the wall in my living room, so i looked for a decent cheep android phone and for the spec the Moto G was a good deal so i ended up getting one, 6/7 month's down the time i sold that and got the Moto G 4G
Moto G is like my dream phone. A device that good specs, screen, and development but still budget friendly!
I had come from a carrier branded (MetroPCS) LG with a locked down, tighter than a submarine's hatch, boot loader phone (LG Motion). I wanted a developer friendly, inexpensive phone.

I bought my Moto G 'cause it's incredible! In Brazil (and in the rest of the world), the price is very small and with my Moto G I can do a lot of things (more than when I had my Galaxy Y)!

Cheapest DECENT Android smartphone in 2015

I've seen the specs and I believe this is going to be the cheapest usable Android smartphone in 2015.
What do you guys think?
Sd410 is ****
I've bought one today for my dad. However I read someone mention on gsm arena that this Moto G is going to be rubbish compared to previous versions, because its made by Lenovo and not Google. Is this something to be concerned about or just a random opinion from a Google fan?
That makes no sense.
As far as I understand, Lenovo just bought Motorola to get access to the NA/EU phone market.
Why would it mess with the internal workings of a company that's been around longer than Lenovo's parent company???
Manufacturing shouldn't change from when it was owned by Google, who bought it for patent and manufacturing reasons.
I'm a little surprised there isn't more talk about the device on here. I'm currently on the iPhone 6 Plus but want to get myself the Moto G to play with and use as a back up.

If you are talking about IBM, IBM doesn't own Lenovo. Also, IBM has been around (not called IBM back then) since the 1890's, where Motorola has only been around since the 1920's.

There are Xiaomi,Mizhu(?),Huawei,ASUS(for the zenphone 2 with 4gb ram,13mp camera, full hd display,5.x display and sell with about the same price as moto g did off -contract)
And you can buy even OnePlus One in any retail smartphone shop
This moto G is not the best cheapest phone anymore

Firstly I wasn't talking about IBM. IBM sold Lenovo it's PC unit and IBM now focuses on services for the backbone/back office of the internet and intranets.
Back on topic -
Motorola for the second time has released a new phone that was GSM only first and then re-release with a few updated and adds an LTE radio.
The 2nd gen LTE Moto G was too expensive for a terrible camera. My Radiant has a bad enough camera but I used it for work anyway and still got decent pictures.
I opted to fix my Optimus G which I dropped on the screen side and it shattered = $155; as I was having space issues despite installing Link2SD on my Radiant.
This was back in May, I couldn't afford to wait for Motorola to announce an updated 3rd gen Moto G with the LTE radio.
Now I am dealing with a screen that has a mind of it's own. I can no longer make or take calls as the screen goes dark completely and I have no access to the dial or other phone controls. I used to get around this by connecting it to my BT headphones but that stopped working. The only way it works with the screen on now is -
1) Connected to the BT in my Panasonic Link2Cell cordless
2) My Car's BT (factory)
That's just the tip of the problems I have now. Otherwise the phone works fine.
I will keep it around for it's camera and video capabilities.
Now the decision is -
1) Moto G for $180 but it's skimpy on RAM and internal memory
2) Moto G for $219 but it's hardly better than the Asus Zenphone 2
I am leaning towards the Zenphone 2 actually because it seems to work well in low light. As I said I use my phone for work and while store lights are overall fine, the light isn't bright like a sunshine or controlled lighting under more ideal conditions.
Actually I should get a phone with optical stabilization since I don't have the calmest hands in the world and it sometimes takes two or three shots for get a sharp picture.
The One Plus Two has that, but not the Moto X? Hmmm... Not sure I want to shell out $400 for a phone though, I have other pressing priorities.
the MOTO is one thing I'd like to try.. Never own one and based on several reviews, they're looking good. I'm leaning for the cheaper one. I think it's aint a bad idea after all

I just came from Moto G 2014. Was using Titan Prime Rom + Greenify donation + Custom kernel + Xposed + Amplify + Tasker. The phone sucked on stock but I made it a beast for the last few months. However, I couldn't resist the camera, battery and ram upgrade and traded in my 2014 and got the G 2015 and I have used it only for a day but I can tell without a doubt, I find it smoother than my G 2014 (the tweaked one). Everything runs the way it is supposed to and I've about 40 odd apps installed and it still runs without any lag or jitters and the battery life is good. Been using it from noon today (it is 10.45p.m. here), battery is down to 56% and 3 hours 10 mins of SOT and out of this 1.5hrs I downloaded 40 apps on a very slow WiFi. So yeah, very happy with the phone as of now.

If you are not willing to shell out $500 (or more) for a phone, then you shouldn't expect to get a great camera with OIS. At least not now. In a few months the S6 will come down in price.

Not denying that, I just didn't want a worse camera than my current phone.
It won't come down that much, an LG G3 is now $399 unlocked (AT&T) and the G2 is about $280.

Would you buy a new Moto X now?

Hi,
I've an offer for a new Moto X (black, 16 GB memory) for a stipulated price about 180€ (200$). What do you think about the device today? Does it make sense to buy the Moto X for this price today? I like really the size of the phone and can't find another one with good hardware specifications on the market as the Moto X has. Can you told me something about the performance with Lollipop, the camera and the battery life? Will the Moto X get the new Android M, too?
I'm looking forward to your replies.
Cheers!

my opinion is $200 is a little high, you did not mention what model, i bought a new xt1053 developers edition 32gb on ebay about 6 or 8 months ago for $199 ant its retail gsm unlocked with the ability to unlock the bootloader, we have 4 xt1058 att's here and all updated to lollipop and so far the only issues with one device is some lost contacts after the ota, not to much of a deference in battery life, there is a noticeable difference in performance due to running on art (i would say), amazon has the gsm unlocked which im sure is the xt1058 black for $115 and white for $118, just put this (Motorola Moto X - 16GB, Unlocked Phone) in amazon search bar
Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to say that I'm from Germany and only the XT1052 is available here. Of course the device is unlocked. The actually price is about 240€ and more (amazon, ebay and so one) here in Germany. So I think that my 180€ offer should be a good deal.

I just think that the price might be okay Would you buy the device one again for this price? Or would you prefer another one?! Maybe the Moto G 3rd Gen. The price for this one is about 230€*for the 16GB model with 2 GB RAM (without MotoMaker).
Hi.
Well I've just bought one. I picked up a very good condition one off eBay this week for £87. I got it yesterday. I have to say I'm impressed with the build and form factor.
I was using a Nexus S for about 3 years and decided that it was time for an upgrade, event though I loved that phone to bits.
I wanted to spend max £100 and buy something I could flash a ROM on, so I went for a Samsung S3. It's a nice phone but just hate the home button with a vengeance and the capacitive buttons. They make the phone way too big. I guess I just hate big phone. They just don't do anything for me. It's also too slippy with its all plastic design.
So I decided I needed a smaller phone with no hardware buttons and the Moto X seemed like the perfect fit. After two days using it I have to say it's a lovely device. Build quality is top notch and the size is just perfect for one handed use. And because it's pretty much stock Android and not Touchwiz I'm not in the mood to flash a ROM at all. I'm more than happy with the software at the moment. I can always flash a ROM at a later date.
So yes go for it!

I would buy it, its the most powerfull and feature packed phone in this price and screen size range.
For me, the only alternative is the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.
The only thing you have to make shure is, if 16 GB storage is enough for your needs.
greetings
Let me tell you the story of Moto X 2nd Gen here in India. It's available for INR 30000 which is about 460 USD. And if you get your screen broken (which magically is turning into a very frequent phenomenon) your costs from the Moto Service Centre comes around INR 20000 which is 311 USD approx. So yeah , no one's gonna buy it in their right mind. Specs and improvements don't mean anything if the post sale services are that much of a pain.
Holding the whole Galaxy in my hand.
brother every phone has its merits and demerits, but what we want is important, like u i couldn't find a piece with this specs and the size like moto x, so think about it:good:
I probably would. I got the moto x gen 1 when it came out an I'm still struggling to find any alternative. Everything else is too big. Also I don't really feel like I need an upgrade because I'm satisfied with everything. Performance isn't the fastest but its perfectly find and doesn't lag. The form factor is the best thing. The only alternative I have found is sony z3c but I will only get that if something happens to this. Since its more expensive and it has a glass back which could break. I was really hoping 2015 moto x would have a smaller option but sadly they just went bigger
I got my xt1092 16gb for $480 australian from eBay. But a bit disappointed on design as not very flexible, eg: no SD card slot and too little memory not sure why its this way but anyhow Motorola phones are no longer developed by Motorola engineers but LeNovo engineers... So I don't know is that means as much to you as much as it means for me.
I had a lot of fun with my Razor previously but as it seems, there is no Cyanogen alternative for us on Moto X vitara...
I can sell you mine if you want its in perfect condition for 100€ .

I had a lot of fun with my Razor previously but as it seems, there is no Cyanogen alternative for us on Moto X vitara...
I can sell you mine if you want its in perfect condition for 100€ .

I read bunch of articles stating that although Lenovo owns Motorola, it doesn't interfere with the design and engineering aspects of manufacturing the Moto devices. Theyre probably just concerned with their bottom line. I purchased my Moto X just a month ago for about 120$ new 16gigs, I was hesitant at first considering the old specs compared to what is out there but I couldn't resist the design, size and the 2years of developments to still make it run superbly.

Amazing phone man and I have owned them all. So impressed by the speed and how fluent it is, but if I was buying one again, I would make sure it's on kit kat, so I could flash a lollipop version that didn't have the bootloader updated because lots of people with issues on lollipop.
I have no idea why you should pay twice more for Chinese quality). Buy US models, which working well in EU for $100 and be happy like me Nothing compares to the phone yet

You and I think alike.. Me too think only solid phone in this form factor is z3c.. But the camera review is not that great.. They just bumped the specs.. I'm having a hard time finding a great phone under 5inch size.. Any ideas? Really disappointed with OPO2! ARE THEY NOT THINKING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO HAVE SMALL HANDS AND PREFER SMALLER DEVICES? Such a shame

I'll be waiting for the new Moto X Pure Edition.
I have been told by Motorola support that it WILL be bootloader unlocked for Verizon.
Seems like there is no other good option Although I was playing with a samsung galaxy s6 the other day, both edge and regular.. they're actually not that bad! solid build quality and not thaat much bigger than our moto x. Just a little bigger but still not as wide as 2014 moto x or other phones. I might consider it but its soo expensive..
I have a Note 4 and would have got the Note 5 if had an sd slot, but it apparently does not. The front facing speakers, sd slot and 64GB internal storage for $500 to $550 for a Moto X Pure seems too good to pass up
The only concern but a biggy is battery life. I will buy from Best Buy and then return it if battery life is an issue. Heck, even if the Note 5 had an sd slot I would consider the Moto X Pure due to price and features
I'm getting the style also but with an SD slot, 16gb is all I need. I only use around 4gb for apps now. If battery is your thing, get the moto x with a 3600 mah battery, and 5.5 1080p. They should of made the 3600 mah standard for both.

Is it worth buying a used G2 right now? (2016-2017)

Since my Xperia ZR got broke a while ago. I don't have any enough money to buy a good brand new smartphone. There's a shop at my place where G2s are being sold (F320 model). And that's the best one I can afford (costs around $80). Is it still worth buying G2? I don't play games on a phone. I'll only use it to check emails, listen to music, and for social media purposes. This is the best one I can afford right now and that prices of smartphones here in my country (Philippines) are inflated. All your opinions are much appreciated. Thanks you.
In my opinion it's still a great phone to have, I still have one as my daily driver (D802) and it works like a charm, even for today's standards
I would go for it
f320. Great phone. Also you can buy a second battery.
I love it.

go for D800 or D802 so you can install dorimanx kernel
I think yes. I own it from 6 months, used phone
I have used these phones in chronology
Alcatel one touch glory 2s pro
Alcatel one touch glory 2s
Xperia M
Xperia SP
Redmi 1S
Redmi 2
Mi 3
Grand Prime
Redmi 3(bought this 2 times)
LG G2
,
it basically has the performance of a SD800, its really smooth, compared to all of my previous phones , its definitely an all rounder
-performance
-battery life
-camera( dont expect much like in its phone reviews and youll be happy)
-community ROM support(one of the best I ever had)
In my country (malaysia) , secondhand LG G2 are sold at quite a low price, around that price (80USD), the first time I researched a good phone was this and I was just shocked it having a really low price point, it really shows that people(including casuals) dont see this phone because its from the 2013 and its LG(to casuals they only know LG as appliance company lol). I was skeptic as thinking it might be a bad phone and for as little as 80usd you can get this performance im sold.
been using it for about 2 month now
I used a G2 D802 and a G2 VS980. Great phones, with a good choice of custom ROMs

Keep in mind that a 3 years old phone could have lost a third of its battery capacity. Mine did.
Definitely a good buy

I would recommend this phone. Best phone for me.
It performs like a new mid ranged device. Even better than some of them. It also has 1080p and 3000mAh so I would say it is still a good phone. I bought one for 100e used it even had foil on the side like it's new.

Which one should i ask Mrs.Claus for?

Hello one and all, I'll get to the point. My wife wants to buy me a android watch but knows I've been beating my head against the wall trying to pick one for months. So I'm here today to ask for your help! FYI, I have the Sony Xz Premium and yes I do plan on rooting it.
I know there are many different types that do different things but my main focus is really three things.
1. A full Round face
2. Popular with the community (rooting, support, ect)
3. Something under $200.usd
I throw myself at the mercy of XDA.
I currently have the Huawei Watch 2 Classic and love it. Currently on sale for 219$ on Amazon and Best buy Price matches.
You should also consider getting that support AW 2.0 and Oreo as well

Wife has got me a Misfit Vapor for Christmas. £184 (UK) but have seen that Amazon have knocked $60 of it in the US. Hope this is not a sign Misfit are abandoning it 2 months after its release?
Not interested in the fitness tracking (Seen that Misfits App is a major power drain). But seems a good starter watch. Scheduled for Oreo and looks not too bad by the pictures and reviews.
