I'll definitely hope there'll be a dual sim development since I suspect that south east Asian version will came with dual sim.

+1 for this post bro.
Im with you.Im ready for Rom testing.
I love to support developers .
Hope there will be more developers for Us.
Will single sim ROMs work on the dual sim phone? Even if with just one sim. I just need one but the dual sim version is cheaper here.
Already released here in Brazil (8 gb single sim, 16/8 gb dual sim). Hope there will be development for de dual sim version.

I am rather surprised to know that a Dual sim version costs less than the single sim phone.
coming to your Q. single sim Roms may work on a dual sim phone. but its neither advisable nor required as the Dual sim variant will get its own RoM s.
BTW from where do you belong?

I am from Brazil. Actually, from Motorola's store the single sim is cheaper, but it isn't sold outside Motorola's website. As other stores charge less for the phone, and they don't sell the single sim, the dual chip is cheaper than the single one from Motorola.
I would also like to know whether a Custom Rom can be developed for the Dual SIM version. I would like to buy it because of the 16gb internal memory, and I don't care about a second SIM - if a custom rom works as a single chip mode in this device, I would be very happy!
Anyone have any idea whether this is possible?
I'm from Brasil mine 16GB Dual Sim arrived yesterday... I'm loving it =)

At that price, I will stick with a single SIM one
So the dual-sim edition has only started shipping in late November but only in Brazil so far?
Any quick reviews yet? I think people are especially interested in learning how the differentiating dual-sim function has been implemented. E.g. can both sims operate data and voice simultaneously and how are the two connections managed (interface)?
I have a coworker in Brazil, and i asked him to buy me a moto g. If he cant i probably will ask to felipeap to bring one to Spain

It may take a lil longer as only specific countries are being targetted by Motorola. Which means only a few developers actually getting their hands on this deivce.

LG G4 "DUAL SIM" is real, and it's fantastic

Video preview: "Trên tay LG G4 Dual Sim - www.mainguyen.vn" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFox9eyOVVM
Source is a store in Vietnam: http://www.mainguyen.vn/lg-g4-dual-sim.html
Toward the end you can see "SIM 1" and "SIM 2" in the Android Settings "About" screen. It's running Android 5.1, and as far as I can tell it's otherwise like a normal G4. I want one!
Why it wouldn't be real? lol, btw i don't understand that language.
rumor has it that the G4 version for my country would be the dual sim variant too
i do curious about the model name.. and very anxious about the dev support
Indonesian LG G4 is 100% DUAL SIM
I'm so glad we get the dual sim
I wish we could buy dual SIM phones in the U.S. It would save many people from carrying a work and personal phone, or people could have two prepaid SIMs for those who primarily use one with the second being a better coverage but more expensive SIM.
Can't wait to get my hands on the phone, but gots to have the dual sim version so patience is a virtue...
Are both sims active? Looks like you can only have one active at a time.

EU Moto X Style DOES have dual SIM hardware

After reading this thread I checked the SIM card slot in my newly bought Moto X Style. It looks like there are connecting pins for a second SIM card in there. The SIM tray also has, like in the Moto X Play, a second slot which is blocked by a small plastic cover. I attached some photos.
I live in Germany. I did not buy it from motorola.de but from a local hardware vendor (www.cyberport.de) as they were the only ones which had it in stock.
Question is: could I simply flash an Asian or Brasilian ROM and enjoy dual SIM capabilities? Or does it mess up the LTE frequency bands, modem or anything else?
Let me know what you think.
So could You just put there 2 cards and tell us if it works ? Because i am thinking to buy one. And if its dual then super news !
I tested it, doesnt work....
So what about this flashfile _Style_XT1572_CLARK_RETASIA_DS_5.1.1_LPH23.116-18_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
Thats retail asian file with "DS", that means dualsim ?
Contacts for second simcard are still there i think

Also here dual SIM hardware present
Just to confirm: I also found 2 blocks in my SIM-tray that are there for both SIM cards (so to support dual sim).
On the moto x play forum someone flashed the Brazilian rom.
He did managed to get it working whith the little plastic cover peeled of.
I also been reading about x play being flashed in some German posts adn working dual sim.
w w w.android-hilfe.de/thema/dual-sim-laesst-sich-offenbar-per-firmware-auf-single-sim-mxps-freischalten.718297

something new for DS on Style

Hello buddy,
COuld you pls let know if you were able to flash the ROM for Pure to make it dual sim.
Waiting for the results of your test as the version here in India is too overpriced and not even customizable like in the US.
Please keep us posted on what happened.
Thanks

My german is inexistent and after Google translation usage I'm not sure if the problem is related to hardware missing parts for card reading or it's a issue regarding the Asian ROM instalation.
Can someone help, please?
So the Geman guy flashed it and he had software dualsim...but he cant choose the second simcard because the second sim wont regonized.....so he tried with two simcards in each slot but no sucess...only the first sim got regonized...
He tried also to flash the brazil DS Firmware but rsd lite gives error message and end the flashing...
So he ask also for a pic of a play simcard slot, to see if there are diefference in hardware....

Hii... but when did he say that it did not work for him... Waiting on him for a confirmation... But it should work with an asian or brazilian rom flash cuz its only a piece of plastic blocking the 2nd sim card tray... And the good thing is these phones are designed to work in Asia with the support for bands, not all 4G though...

The only way to ensure it's "just" a question of software, is to compare the teardown of a EU version vs a Asian or Brazillian version.
Here you have already a teardown of the pure version. Let's hope someone posts one with the Asian or Brazillian version
Yes, I asked him a question on that video

I asked him if the phone with 2nd sim tray ripped off that plastic piece make it dual sim but he says there needs to be something that can recognize the 2nd sim which is actually missing and maybe needs to be soldered...
Oh and that soldering part seems like a tough task. Or is it not ??
Brazilian version of the Moto X Style is a "clark" variation of the US with place for two SIMs (only one can be used for data internet) and is named XT1572.
I´ve also read (and watched some photos) elsewhere that the US variant doesn´t have the hardware to support two SIMs.
So they have the same outside skin but they are produced differently.

Ok. Then it might be possible to just solder that piece of missing receptor to make the moto X pure as dual sim and then for the software part of the job, flash the phone with a asian rom...

I think the motherboard is kind of small. Other than that there must been some hardware missing. I can´t help as I don´t know whats missing.
China's Moto X Style(Pure) is also Dual SIM by default
Dear all:
I am on Moto China's official website and went through the specifications. I*looked at Moto site for "Rest of Asia", Hong Kong, and Rest of Europe.
It seems that China is one of very few region which Moto X*Style is dual SIM by default. This is probably not helping you guys very much because default China's ROM doesn't have any Google framework/app on it. I*will ask Moto*China's tech support and see if I*can obtain an official ROM for this dual-SIM phone and at least support English as well.
Harv
Yep thanks ... The problem and the question is whether we can buy Moto X Pure from the US and turn it into a dual sim phone ??
P.S : The 2nd sim slot of the Moto X Pure is just covered by a piece of plastic, if we can remove it and insert a 2nd sim. Would it really work or what are the complications.
Thanks

India also has the dual sim variant of Moto X Style but the phone comes in black and white only. Not cuatomizable like in the US
And also i have recently got clues that the Moto X Pure /Style is a lot delicate and many have broken their screens with weak drops.
And really observing that no YouTube or any channel has uploaded a drop test, water test, or any durability test videos of this, it seems like truth, i msged many of the big channels requesting to make that video for durability but non one ever responded, lol, pls tell me the reason if u know guys.
The US gives them a coverage for such accidents but what does the rest of the world do Moto also the irony being that the phone is much more expensive than in the US ??
I have the UK Moto X Style XT1572 and flashed the dual SIM firmware. SIM 1 works and can be used for calls and data but SIM 2 cannot be detected even with a SIM in the slot.
Not sure if this is a software issue or if the Moto X Style doesn't actually have the dual SIM hardware in all the phones. Perhaps the non-dual SIM version is missing the second radio?
If anyone else wants to give it a shot, here's my mirror of the dual SIM firmware: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1ejb0MqRCmAcHFzdnUtbkpIRUE/view?usp=sharing.
Oh ok thats cool you tried but sad that the 2nd sim is not detected. So looks like the issue is with the hardware, can you please post a pic of the inside of the sim and sd card slot so that we ll be able to analyse better and also may i request our frnd from China or anyone with a dual sim version moto x style to post the pic.
Thanks

[Moto X Force] all Mexican Moto x Force are Dual sim!!!

Hi! jaocagomez here.
i've sent about 5 mexican moto x force to different places, but nobody makes clear this.
is the mexican x force dual sim by default?
i know it says something in settings.
can ANYONE confirm or deny this?
could the DS on baseband and system version mean DUAL SIM?
pic related.
i'll answer myself (sorry for the doble post)
i was suspicious because the name in the baseband said DS which mean dual sim, after this i only needed confirmation that it works right out of the box without having to flash anything.
strange thing is, this is not listed on the x force motorola page, but it works if you put your 2nd sim.
All moto x Force from mexico are dual sim
so far i only confirmed the 32gb version working.
im waiting for the 64Gb version confirmation.

My MXF (64 GB) comes from a retail store in México D.F., and is a dual sim model too. Dual sim working out of the box and after 6.0 update

Because most probably is just generic slot. Doesn't mean that phone itself has dual sim support. Honestly I don't think it has, will test when I get another nano sim.

So far, all the sources I have seen report that the UK version is a single SIM model.
Even if the tray says "SIM 2", it doesn't mean anything...
Even the single SIM version of X Play has a tray that includes space for the second SIM card (and also says "SIM 2"), it's just covered with a piece of plastic.
In X Force the same space is shared between second SIM and SD card, so they can't cover it. That's all...
---------- Post added at 08:18 ---------- Previous post was at 08:12 ----------
So, to sum things up, so far we know that 32GB version from Mexican Moto Maker is a dual SIM model.
And that 64GB version from a retail location in Mexico is also a dual SIM model - but this may not be the exact same model as available through Moto Maker.
Whether the 64GB version from Moto Maker is, in fact, dual SIM hasn't been confirmed yet...
It would be nice if Motorola actually confirmed that...
I'm going crazy already installed more than 6 versions, LAT, MX, BR, EU and any works DualSim.
My team is BL Unlock SIM Unlock and does not work, apparently has to do the system, the version that you have your 23.11.5.kinzie_retmx_ds.retla.en.01 retmx * * is the only one that is DualSim, as you installed this version ?
You can have the link or location came down?
You can make a backup of your modem?

What does unlocking SIM have to do with dual SIM capabilities?
What device do you have? Which country did it come from?

Usually if you see "ds" in baseband / sw version on stock sw, then it's a dual-sim.
On the side note, which LTE bands does mexican Moto X Force have? I kinda like it's dual-sim, since now I have two Moto MAXX in my pocket.

Out of curiosity, I removed the SIM tray from my Turbo 2 and took a peek inside with a bright light. Apparently, my XT1585 has dual SIM... hardware-wise at least. Of course, my SIM tray won't fit a 2nd SIM, only the SD card.
Would it be safe to say all Turbo 2 and X Force variations are dual SIM from a hardware perspective?

Is the SIM tray different than the one in XT1580 (X Force)?
Because SIM tray in X Force has only two slots -one for the first SIM card, and the second one for either SD card or the second SIM card - but not both.

I'm not sure what you saw inside your phone, but X Play (XT1563) also looks like,
from hardware perspective, it has connectors for the second SIM - and the single SIM version cannot be converted to a dual one regardless.
So it probably doesn't really matter whether those connectors are there or not...
I'm really intrested in this topic. I'm in Italy, and I'd love to put my hands on a Moto X Force dual sim. The ultimate smarphone.
So far I understood the only version ds is the mexican one, and no single sim version can become dual sim by flashing firmware. Is that correct?

I haven't seen a single X Force from Mexico being reported as a single SIM version, and there are several reports saying it is a dual SIM device.
However, Motorola Mexico still claims it is a single SIM device, and their webpage doesn't specify whether it is a dual or single version,
just that it uses nano SIMs.
There is also X Force from Brazil which, according to Motorola Brazil webpage, is officially a dual SIM device.
The UK version of X Force is officially (on the webpage) a single SIM device and it doesn't have options for the second SIM.
However, I don't know if anybody even tried flashing the UK version with a different firmware or what the result of that flashing would be.

It's the same for UK X Play, but X Play can be converted to Dual SIM by flashing a Dual SIM firmware. I guess it will be the same for X Force, but someone has to take the risk to confirm that.

g4 plus on verizon postpaid?

Hi, I know this question has been asked before but I see mixed answers. So I got a used Moto G4 plus off ebay (actually by mistake, i meant to buy an E plus to be used on my existing verizon postpaid account). I know the G4 plus is not officially supported by verizon but I thought I should give it a try anyway.
I tried to pop my sim card from my current verizon phone into it and it doesn't work. when i switched the network to 4g/lte then the G4 can use data but not voice or text. So I am just wondering if I should tinker some more or it definitely will not work because the hardware is lacking. I read posts about how some were able to just put an active sim card in there and get it to work but that was probably a different version of it?
This moto G4 plus is XT1641, build MPJ24.139.23.3, running android 6.0.1. I think this is probably not a "regular" XT1641 because it does say 32gb but only has 2gb ram and only 1 sim slot (the "regular" XT1641 that I looked up has 32gb, 3gb ram and dual sim).
and I did root this moto G4 plus before even checking compatibility. I felt so smart back then but thinking back that was a really dumb thing to do.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
