[Q] Help, After removing bloatwares my devices flickers :( - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, I just moved from iOS to android like a few months ago and was facing a pathetically bad battery life for my S4 i9505, googled alot and found out that rooting and disabling bloatware is the only effective option, I rooted my device with Odin. Disabled basic apps like S Health, Watch On and stuff but didnt noticed any effective change in my battery life, installed battery Juice defender, battery Guru and Cpu tuner, dont know which does the trick but it felt a bit relief. but the problem now am facing is after disabling a few more apps which i got a safe list on searching from XDA developer's forum. i noticed when I wokeup my time was still stuck at 12:36 and when i pushed the home button my screen began to flicker, it turned black and i turned my device back on manually :/ any idea where things went wrong as am panicking. you can email me on [email protected] as well
I hope android buddies are helping too

U must hav deleted some essentials

No I believe I didn't, I found a safe to remove list on XDA Developer, and I only removed apps which I never used but a few apps i don't know about but as they were mentioned are save to remove {Talkback, StoryAlbum Widget, S Health & Sensor Service, Samsung Hub Updater, Samsung Games, Learning, Watch On, Books, Translator, RoseEUkor, PickUpTutorial, PageBuddyNotiSer, OMACP, NFC Test, Mobile Print Services, LocalFOTA, InteractiveKeyguardTutorial, GroupPlay, Flipboard, ELM Agent, Chat ON}. I installed them after backing up thru Titanium Backup

U installed them after having backup means ? I didnt get u

[Q] Bad Battery?

Is there a way I can officially know if I have a bad battery on my LGG2? When I had purchased the phone, I never really took interest in it because of it's battery life, but after hearing that it has a great battery life I thought mine was lacking. I hear people having it go for two days without a charge. Yet mine was being charged once a day or more at least. I had batterydoctor installed, and when I had it, it would say I got about 22 hours or so normally. Then 17 or so.
I took the phone to the AT&T service center to get a replacement as I felt as if the battery was bad. Yet after getting the new one, I feel as if I'm having the same problem or even worse.
I'm still getting below 20 hours, and the battery seems to die faster than expected. I do not do a lot on my phone as it is. I had previously only had BatteryDoctor control the CPU, but I purchased SetCPU to get a bit better control on my CPU. I read push notifications was more efficient than 15 minute intervals, so I set those on my email apps. I don't have a lot of widgets, or even more than two. My screen brightness is usually below half.
Am I just plagued with a bad battery, or am I doing somethings wrong here? Anymore I can do?
Along the lines of this, is there a list of what bloatware apps I can uninstall from the LGG2? I had uninstalled a lot, but I'm not really sure what is still safe or unsafe to uninstall.
The built in battery manager as of now expects my battery to last around 6-8 hours, while battery doctor says 15 hours.
You can't uninstall anything that your system needs unless you're rooted and using an application manager to uninstall, such as Titanium Backup. If you're removing apps from the stock app page, you'll be fine to remove anything that is removable.
I'm sure your battery is fine, but you didn't give us any hard proof of what's going on. Go into your Settings and check the Battery section after the phone is down to about 50% or so. My guess is, that Google Services will be the main battery culprit, with Screen somewhere behind it.
If Google Services is what's chewing through your battery, you're not alone. The easiest way to fix the issue right now is to disable Google's Location Services.
If that's not what's causing your problem, please report back here with more info and we'll try to get you sorted out.

I am aware I can't uninstall anything my system needs, but I am not aware of what my system needs and does not need. I know of the obvious bloatware applications, so I uninstalled those. As for other things, I am not sure of. I would like to get rid of any unneeded apps that I will not use or have no use for as much as possible. And my device is rooted. And I do use Titanium Backup.
Sorry about that, I'm not good at explaining things most of the time. I'm not really sure as of what proof is needed. Though I have checked before. Google Services seems to come up often. Android System is the second I usually see as well. Screen usually comes into third or lower. I will disable the Location Services and see how things work out.
Thanks for the help so far. If there is any other info that is needed, I will try my best to provide such things.
As far as debloating goes, I recommend installing a modified stock ROM, such as Malladus. That way you don't have to compile a list of things that can or can't be removed.
If my previous fix doesn't work, try downloading an app such as Better Battery Stats ($2.89) or Wakelock Detector (free). They will tell what's keeping your phone awake.
And then you can use an app like Greenify to prevent specific pesky apps from waking your phone and causing massive battery drain. You can use Greenify to stop Google apps as well, but it will prevent notifications from all of their apps. For example, instead of disabling Location Services on my phone, I prevented Google Maps and Google Play Services from causing wakelocks. Which worked great to keep my battery running, but it also prevented Google Voice from notifying me of new text messages and the Play Store wouldn't do automatic updates. Still, if you can live without these features, that might be another option for you until Google gets their stuff fixed.

I will give it some thought on using either a modified or custom ROM. I have not yet tried that with any phone I have had before because I'm afraid that normal phone functions might not work. That and I did not have too much experience in messing with ROMs, but I have now done so on my tablets. Though I might still look for a list just in case.
I will look into these two apps to see how they might work and if they will be any benefit. I have heard of a couple other apps to try and extend the battery life as well.
I might look into Greenify as well. It sounds like it could have its use, but I'm not sure I would really use it as such. I did enjoy using Google Now, but I used it mostly for the weather. I can get any other random weather app and probably be just as fine. I don't think I ever used Location Services for anything else other than Google Now or Maps. Which if I need to use the GPS, I can turn it on once again.
Is using such apps like SetCPU a good idea? Or does that make things worse?

[Q&A / Help] Kingroot Destroying my Galaxy Tab 4

Model: Galaxy Tab 4 SM-T230NU
Kernel Version: 3.10.0-6808427, [email protected] #2
Build #: KOT49H.T230NUUEU0APA1
OS: Android 4.4.2 KitKat
So long story short I've had my tablet for years now with absolitely no issue at all whatsoever. It's been fast, effectve, and I've had no complaints for it. I was however bored with some of the useless bloatware on the device so I decided to root and remove some apps. I don't have access to a computer so I took the Kingroot (not Kingoroot) route and it worked fine no issues easy process.
After setting that all up I removed some of the bloatware apps as desired (nothing critical: Netflix, google+, google hangouts, some printer app, and hancom office or something).
After a few hours I opened the Kingroot app after noticing my notifications were being blocked by the app and i sorted that all out but it made me also install the Kingroot Purifier app and started messing with all my stuff killing tasks and everything. I instantly uninstalled it cause I know those apps are bad and I didn't bother with it again. Shortly after I noticed my tablet becoming slower and slower for no reason at all while doing the same things I've done on it for years now.
I looked at my processes and everything to notice my RAM was being used up entirely. I know that unused ram is useless ram with phones and tablets but when I restart my tablet now I start at about 600-900mb of free RAM and it constantly fills up and up and up over a couple hours if I'm lucky until there is less than 15mb of RAM left, everything freezes, apps crash, videos suffer fps drop, and eventually I'm forced to restart it to repeat the process. This happens every hour or two depending on how many apps I open.
Now I've been noticing that when I open my active applications list in Android settings that it ALWAYS shows that there is NOTHING in it using any memory at all which I know is not right because I've had this tablet for years. After all of this I uninstalled Kingroot, deleted any and all files I could find with my file manager, restarted, and now I just have an unrooted tablet with a retardedly annoying ram issue.
I went to sleep last night and woke up to my screen being entirely frozen, and some sort of SD card icon on my notifications I've never seen before and couldnt read due to the whole thing being frozen. I've factory restored and everything and the issue still persists. I feel as if the purifier app from kingroot effected the default android app killer and its ruining my experience with my device that I've had 0 issues with for years until the day I decide I want to remove some bloatware... can someone help me?
I've read all kinds of topics on all kinds of sites and it's all dumb people that don't know how to address issues or answer them. Thanks in advance.
Still having the same issues. It's getting to the point where even my keyboard stops showing up after a while or will pop up and instantly close.

Huge battery drain problem - Galaxy S8

Hi,
I tried to find this exact problem, but not. I have serious problems with battery on my unlocked european Galaxy S8.
First I just tried some basic stuff like clearing the cache, diagnostics of Google services and so on. Then I installed BBS and GSAM, but nothing serious here. I monitored it like three days very often. Only thing that havnt made me any sense, is Android OS (something to do with kernel). It had more drain, than screen.
Second I tried some apps that I was suspicious to. Google Fit, Chrome, Facebook,... Nothing.
Okay, I tried Safe mode and even factory reset and nothing. So I was that angry, that I paid that much money for something, that even doesnt work properly, that I ordered a repair (they came to my home, took my S8, rent me another one and than after week or so they returned it).
I finally thought that it was bad piece, because they found the issue and swap daughterboard, charging cirquits, battery and reflashed OS. I didnt used Smart Switch or Google restore. I manually installed all my apps and I think, that battery drain started after I launched preinstalled Chrome. So of course I immediately disabled it, but battery drain didnt stop.
Now I was on vacation on place, where is like one bar of 4G or no signal, nothing else. In that place, battery was dying very fast. I turned on airplane mode and guess...
With my usual drain that Iam trying to figure out, I have about 2-3 hours of SOT only checking mails and browsing web with Spotify. With airplane mode on I played movie at evening. I had 89% after 2h of continuous playing HD movie with airplane mode. After I disabled it, battery started dying fast again.
I could not figure out, what is causing this, because in GSAM, BBS and setting is only "Android OS" and nothing more suspicious. I tried to turn off WiFi and Bluetooth scanning even when they are off, but nothing.
There is all my apps that I have installed in my S8:
Google Drive, Duo, Photos, Play Movies and TV, MS Excel, OneDrive, Power Pint, Skype, Word, Samsung Email, Galaxy Apps, Internet, My files, Samsung Connect, Samsung Gear, Samsung Health, Smart Switch, Voice recorder, 4G switcher, Adblock Plus for Samsung Internet, Airbnb, Google Analytics, Android Auto, Apshalt 8, Bakalari (my school app), Boldbeast recorder PRO, Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Clash of CLans, Clock, COntacts, CPU-Z, CZC.cz (app for local IT eshop), eBay, ES File explorer Pro, Facebook, Flixbus, Flud, Gallery, Gmail, Golf Clash, Google, Google Trips, Hangouts, Google Home, IDOS (czech app for time tables of trains and buses), Instagram, IP Tools, Google Keep, Letuška.cz (app for buying airplane tickets), Google Maps, Mapy.cz (local maps app), Messages, Messenger, MX Player, My Vodafone, NaVlak (another app for timetables wih widget, thats always synchronized ony my screen), Phone, Play Games, Play Music, Play Store, QRbot, Samsung Members, SD Maid Pro, Settings, SledovaniTV (app for watching TV online), UniCredit Smart Banking, Speedtest, Spotify, Steam, Strava.cz (school app for ordering meals), Stream (local youtube), Tenda WiFi, Tik-App, Translate, Trello, Wifi Analyzer, Wifi File transfer Pro, YouTube, Zaslat.cz (local app for ordering couriers to deliver packages).
Could you guys pleas give me some advices? I even tried disable Always On display, but nothing. Iam very shattered about this. At least we know, that it is software related issue, not hardware.
Thank you very much guys and sorry for my bad english skills
EDIT: It is caused by SW 1000%, because I experienced same issue on rented S8 when mine was at warranty repair.

you said it yourself..
it uses a lot more power when you have a weaker signal.
Hi, yes. It was worser, but I also had here my Nexus 6 and he was fine and chilling with one bar wo/ amy problems.
But with my S8, I have this problems in city wjere I live too. Amd there is everywhere full bars of coverage of 4G+ as my S8 says. Something is wrong. Usually at city I habe 2-3 hours SOT of light usage, on that vacation I could have maxfor example 1-1,5h. That was only worse.
I tried running 24 hours without any sync (I disabled it on status bar toolbox) and nothing change, so synchronizing isnt the cause aswell. It must be some app or bad settings or I dont know what else.
Thank you.
I get 6 hours of SOT and 1 day+ usage using an S8+ with AOD on, WiFi and more apps than you do.
Ask for a replacement / battery swap.
Please, there is milion threads about great battery life. I know that it have And as I said, they completely changed battery, charging cirquits and USB-C connector. And with airplane mode there is no battery drain. So I suppose, that it couldnt be HW related issue.

Greenify put unused and background apps to hibernate. I think it's worth a try. I used to have the same problem as u. After few days using Greenify, my batter is getting better.
I tried to Greenify suggested apps, but nothing. I tried AnTuTu Battery test (4% one) and Ive got 12800 points. I have problem with SOT, where percentage is dropping hard, but also sleep, there is big drain, but like 10% a night in well coveraged area. Could anyone help? I dont want to return this good device... But Iam also very angry, that I must deal with this sh*t...
Thank you.
Do a factory reset once more and try not to install ANY apps for at least 2-3 charges. Be in a good coverage area. After a couple of days, install your key apps and use it for another 2-3 charges. Finally install all your apps and check. As a side note, also check your standby time with and without data connectivity when you do not have any apps installed.
Install a app that watches for Wakelocks.
I suggest you this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats
I've used it many times and sometimes it can give useful information about something draining too much battery (While the screen is off).
Yes. I did this research. All I can see in those apps is drain by Android OS (no more accurate) and it stops with turning on airplane mode.
I tried Greenify almost every app to try, but nothing.
I dont have much time to do factory resets and setup my phone again and again. Iam trying to research it as deep as I can with yours help. If it will be neccesary, Ill do third factory res.
I will instal that monitoring app once again and then put screenshots in here.
No panic....something is bruning your battery and preventing your phone entering deep sleep....
Install betterbattery stats and post pics or wakelogs as mentioned before.....
Hint:i had similar issues back with s7... it was corrupted media file i had on sd card.... phone was trying to scan system and files in loop while connected to network.....any chance that you have sd memory external card with full of music? We will know more after your screenshots from bbs app.
Best of luck
Kernel wakelocks
Okay, I used it for while with permitted GSAm and these kernel wakelocks are very strange...
Grip sensor I dont know, but the umts is very interesting. It has to be something that is draining, because wo/ sim or airplane mode it is running perfectly fine. I read something about it and it is maybe caused because unsupported modem for my network, but I purchased it in here in official Samsung brand shop and yes, on the package is European SIM only. Which I have. My friend will try it and if he will have this problems, I will sent it to warranty again or my SIM card is maybe faulty.
Just install package disabler pro on play store. disable bloatware and applications that you dont need
Icant see any reason soing it. I want it sctock and running fine. These advices arent solution. There is problem in something else and I want to research what. There are mmc0 and umts wakelocks, but biggest wakelock is in some app that I could not figure out.
Does package disabler pro really help with the battery?

Phone working very slow

Hello,
I own Huawei Nova (CAN0L11C) with EMUI 5 and Android 7. I use it for more than a year now and so far everything looked great.
However, recently I'm very pissed of the productivity of the phone. I am using it mainly not in my country of origin as I work in a different country, but since I'm here I noticed that the phone acts veeery very slow. It becomes a huge issue to open google maps and start navigating with it, and during that time i don't want to speak about multitasking. It's almost impossible to swithc to other apps.
Here are some things that I tried:
I've cleared up disk space.
From time to time i use some apps like NoxCleaner to clean the memory and caches but this fixes the problem temporarily
I did uninstalled apps that i dont use
Nothing helps much. I would appreciate any suggestions to make that phone great again!
you have to factory reset your phone ( 1st you have to save your personal files on Sdcard )
Settings -------> Advanced setting ------> Backup & Reset -------> Factory Data Reset ------> Reset Phone
yeah im kinda trying to avoid that, but thanks for the suggestion. this will be my last option if nothing else works.
Same problem there. Factory reset already done but nothing changes... Some news on the subject ?

How's your RAM usage? Don't use anti viruses and task killers. They're useless on Android.
You can try LineageOS 14.
Thanks for sure.
I have at least 1Go Ram free. Lags appears on maps, snapchat and screen freeze...
Same problem exists
Same problem happening, any solution for this issue?
I have been experiencing the same slow speeds & lag. The 1st 6 months I was so impressed with the performance of this phone, even comparing it to the performance of the flagships. It was really that good. But, come 8 months down the line, & I'm battling with lag, poor multitasking & screen freezing. Im trying to avoid factory resetting & on top of all this I don't have access to my trusted tools as I can't unlock the bootloader to gain root.
Can somebody look into this please & provide some feedback. I doubt its the processor or hardware causing these issues as the Snapdragon 625 is one of the best in its class & other phones using it aren't experiencing the same problems. I have a feeling its got something to do with the Android system updates of recent. The Google security patches updates. I noticed the speed issues after each update was installed.
FINALLY got to the bottom of my Huawei NOVA's performance issues!!!
Firstly, just want to say, Google & Huawei you are both a bunch of Monkeys !!!
I've owned my fone for two years now, and the latter year the device was just a piece of Sh1t to use, anything like Google Maps, or Assist or 'OK Google' was ridiculous to try and use, ..and everything else was running at like a 3rd performance of what the phone was supposed to be acting like. (hanging & freezing whenever you needed it to do something)
**What really cheesed me off is the amount of times this phone went back to Huawei under Warranty and they didn't even both running a performance test with all their technical know how to identify which process/application was the culprit - & o yes, it was a specific process (Or update rather as the last guy on this Thread assumed it was).
No Android apps either from the play store - like Process identifier apps etc would show any bottleneck in either RAM or CPU when the go slow or hanging was occurring, ..its like it couldn't detect the "layer" of which the issue was occurring on.
So Huawei just kept Factory resetting my phone and sending it back,.then as soon as I load my apps and within a week its all balls again. (And Im wondering if its one of my apps doing it)
To the point: IT IS THE **** GOOGLE APP **** itself, ..or at least the updates that are applied after your fone has completed its factory reset (If you did this) and the next updates come down automatically via Google Play store. (This isn't Google Assist or the Android OS itself,..the listing in the installed apps is just called 'Google' or 'Google LLC' (Im a new user so cant post any images or links yet untill after 10 basic posts first).
Grrr! ..this has been soo frustrating to find this out, ..so I just uninstalled updates for this 'Google App' so its back to the default original the phone came with, & now my phone is absolutely flying again - whilst I still have it loaded with all my apps etc.
So who's to blame here, ..Google for pushing updates which kill the phone OR Huawei should've identified this and responded with either a fix OR that the middle weight Nova can't handle the latest 'Google App' updates.
For the record - I also managed to get my Nova updated to Android Nougat (Which wasn't officially released on Nova UK phones, .. I got the correct firmware/software update etc,... but also since it went from Marshmallow to Nougat it also was crippling slow and therefore I got it reverted back to Android 6 Marshmallow (Now Im wondering if again it was simply that the latest Google App Updates had been applied to Nougat and messed the phone ?? - anyway ..ill keep it on Android 6 for now,..just happy that its responsive again and flying.
I also have to manually press the Microphone on the screen now whenever I want to speak to 'OK Google' ..its not automatic anymore - or rather constantly listening out for me to say 'OK Google' (So this must be applicable to the latest Google App update - but then this Nova just cant handle being on listen the whole time. ... But anyway if that's the price to pay for excellent performance now, ..then I dont mind at all. stuff automatic listening for me to say 'OK Google' Ill control it manually instead.
Its been so long that I forgot how a phone should be, ..its insane how fast my phone is now since uninstalling the frikken Google App)
Dont let this Google App update from your phones original - Disable Android Auto Updates
Hope this Helps you guys. (Actually it will blimming well help)
Peace

THANK YOU! <3 I have uninstalled the Google App leaving untouched rest of the google services like "google apps services" or "maps" etc. Now my phone is working as it should be!
Hi guys. Any update on your overall speed?
I factory reset the phone and it helped a bit for a while. Then I disabled the Google App and it worked like a charm... for a while. Now it's incredibly laggy again.
It's really frustrating to use. I would love to install a custom ROM, alas I don't have the bootloader unlock codes

[Q] S10+ Excessive Battery Drain

Hey all,
Recently got my S10+ replaced under insurance (dropped it about 10 stories), and have since rooted it (magisk).
I get a crazy amount of battery drain, up to 35% an hour when using spotify (and Viper4Android). I get high CPU alerts constantly from google play services, even overnight when charging and not touching at all. Device runs very very hot too.
Just want to ask whether anyone else has had this problem before taking it back and asking for a new phone. Seems like a faulty phone but don't want to rule out a bad flash
Cheerio
I suppose bthat you are rooted, since using viper... Use battery stats to se exactly what is the problem, is it kernel or app related... Either ways, good quick start would be cash clear from recovery and network reset... If still draining, force stop than delete data for gplay, services and google framework this will log you out

I'd feel pretty stupid if I rooted a phone and then considered taking it back because of battery drain. I don't know how anyone could say it seems like a faulty phone when they apparently immediately rooted it without testing the battery life. I'd suggest learning how to use a phone before rooting it and then claiming the sky is falling. Unbelievable.

I've had rooted Android phones for the better part of 10 years. I also had the same problem BEFORE rooting, and flashed a custom OS to ensure the battery drain wasn't due to bloatware. In addition, if you read my post properly you would have noted that this is only an issue with a replaced S10, and was never a problem with the original S10, which means I am completely aware of battery usage life.
Keep your useless and misinformed comments to yourself.

Yeah this problem is old as Android itself the way i dealt with it in the past is i used betterbatterystats app overnight let it record who and what is sucking the battery dry. In your case it seems google services framework is the problem (surprise surprise)
If i was in your shoes i would try what @Sparkynis suggested first, clear cache and data it will delete your google account restart the phone wipe cache in recovery and add your account again if the problem is still there then you might have an app that refuses to go to sleep
and it will show up in betterbatterystats. If that fails i would wipe everything start from scratch only adding your google account not installing any apps besides the betterbatterystats to see if it's the google services framework messed up or an app you have installed that is forcing a wakelock somehow.

If that fails i would wipe everything start from scratch only adding your google account not installing any apps besides the betterbatterystats to see if it's the google services framework messed up or an app you have installed that is forcing a wakelock somehow.

Thanks mate, did the battery stat's and it's the location alarm triggering a couple of times a second. Have reformatted and flashed multiple times and yet to fix the problem. Leaving location services off, however, does solve the problem.
This workaround works fine until I get my s20 but unfortunately I was not able to find the root cause. Faulty gps chip maybe? No idea.

Try looking into Google Maps that app triggers location services ALOT even when not running, i have the Unlocked s10+ U1 and even i notice the same thing with Location off i lose 2% of battery overnight with it left on i lose about 9%
Do uninstall google maps and let me know if it's the same. Also i used to have an app called wakelock detector full i haven't used it since my gf bought me the s10+ last version i have is 2.0.4 last updated in 2017 lol but it helped me find apps and system services that are awake and using cpu alot maybe that will help you find the cause
