Im sure that this subject has probably been covered before but
My galaxy, when plugged into Kies gives me the message that the handset cannot be updated. The versions installed are:
PDA: I9000XXJF4
Phone: I9000XXJF3
CSC: I9000TMUJE6
My question to all of you is, is there an update to this firmware and how do i upgrade. The network provider is T-Mobile UK...
Thanx in advance
No there is no official update from Samsung, we are all waiting for the froyo release. So you cannot update officially until now.
But there are leaked testfirmwares like JPH or the newest JPK. Look at adroid development. There you will find downloads und tutorials to upgrade to these leaked testbuilds.

The latest official 2.1 update is JM1 which has been out since August. I guess T-mobile have not released this update for t-mobile branded phones.
thanks for the replies
I have seen another Galaxy S on T-Mobile UK using the JM1 firmware. The only difference was the purchase point for the handset, mine was direct from a T-Mobile store, the other came from the Carphone Warehouse...
t-star
carphone warehouse handsets are generally sim free with no network restrictions so thats why it will be on JM1 using a firmware released from samsung
Tmobile as of yet have released no new firmwares
A friend of mine has JM5; he hasn't upgraded for sure. Too ..... U know

South Africa (XFA)
Hi
I'm in South Africa and it seems we are one of the countries last on the list of firmware updates.
Is it possible to install this chinese version on my XFA CSC tablet and still have everythin in English? I don't mind not receiving official updates in the future. My possible CSC codes does not include CHN.
Thanks in advance

Sure it's possible, but you might not want to. I've heard that there are all sort of restrictions in the Chinese ROMs, such as no Play Store

Other options are KEN (Kenya) and XSG (United Arab) on my multi CSC. Would it rather be advisable to change to them? Or do I just wait until an official one comes along

Why not just flash the fimware for Germany or the UK? They will always be first available and most up to date. Here in Cape Town I use German roms on my N8000. Loaded 4.1.1 in early November and 4.1.2 in mid December. Wouldn't even think of waiting for an OTA here!
No issues at all. They even have Afrikaans if you need it and "South African English"!

Hi all,
I have the Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005, currenty running android 4.3, and I am waiting eagerly for the KitKat 4.4.2 update, but I'm afraid that because this specific model is not officialy sold im my country (Israel) and I bought it from abroad, that maybe the KitKat update will not reach my phone here in Israel.
Can someone please tell me if the official Samsung KitKat 4.4.2 update for this model (SM-N9005) is not region restricted, e.g. it has nothing to do with regions, and my phone will be updates via kies anyway ?

You Note will update from the Region that it was bought from, via OTA -- So if you got it from say, Germany, you'll receive German OTA update when it rolls out, same for X Y Z country.
I just did this and flashed the mexican CSC and locked my phone. I think if you keep the right CSC you'll be fine
Thanks

I bought it online. but in 100 km I can't find any samsung repair stores. There seems no samsung customer service center in Norway.
Samsung service center is not necessary, search for mobile repair shop near to you.

Its Region Locked to Hong Kong. That means it will only register on a network around Hong Kong territory. You will need to get a Region Unlock from Samsung to use it in Norway. On the side of the box it should have listed the countries your note 3 well work in. If norway was not listed then you can not register on any network in Norway. Contact Samsung
If u read op write about his phone imei number got changed after update, his phone may flashed with super imei for unlock region lock by seller.

What was your previous rom ? on which Sim was working?
Did you upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4.2?

previous rom was 4.3, Hongkong. sorry I can't remember the exact info of the rom. I just left it not updated since I bought it in January.
The updates were some features, but not the system update. the version remained 4.3.
After the update I tried to flash a latest stock rom from sammobile to see if that would fix it, but still failed.

You should not flash modem randomly as it may brick your device.
As you device is HK version and the above modem is for N9005 International version, that modem is not fit for your device.
Didn't you have any IMEI backup?
If you don't have any IMEI backup, try to reflash the stock firmware for HK (not international one, as these versions have different PIT structures).
You cant just flash anything you find on Sammobile and expect for it to run perfectly. region locked or not. Because your phone was from Hong Kong you need to flash Hong Kong only firmwares nothing more nothing less. Flashing something not made for your region will change the IMEI. My friends did the same thing and his was also Hong Kong model. Tried everything to get it back but its pretty useless with out an EFS backup in hand.
Someone mentioned if you flash the original Firmware that came with the phone for the region it was made for it well bring your IMEI back. Give that a try. Give this a try.

I have HongKong N9005 32GB too..
I didn't know anything about different partition so I flashed 4.4 from UK. And Soft Bricked my phone.
Then I used PIT file for international version and All the roms worked but Unknown baseband and Null IMEI.
Then I flashed UK rom and then Flashed modem from my previous android version.
That means, 4.3 version modem on 4.4.2 and baseband came back.
Repairing baseband is the very first step in repairing IMEI and network problems.

You can use any EU firmware, branded or unbranded, interchangeably on an EU device. The only thing you may run in to is 4G not being white listed for your provider, or a Size error in ODIN.
Yes. TNL is T-Mobile Netherlands. It's PHN (Dutch Unbranded) with a few apps and logo's. However, if you try flashing it over the Polish version, you'll get a Size error and will need a PITfile.

And if I did flash the N9005XXUGBOD6_N9005TNLGBOD1_TNL firmware, would I be able to go back to the original N9005XXUGNJ2_N9005OJVGNH2_XSI firmware?

I said EU firmware on an EU device. I know Europe's starting to resemble the Middle East more and more every day, but last I checked the United Arab Emirates wasn't a part of Europe.
It might be possible, but I can't say for sure.

In general, no. You can't downgrade.
It can be done, but there's a lot more involved than just flashing back old firmware.
