Very, very odd problem here. At first I just assumed it was my phone had lost network for a bit, but no.
I've factory reset and reinstalled my ROM, but nothing. My status bar shows full bars (sometimes drops a few, like any phone), but I only have emergency calls available, and the "No service" notification, permanently. I have no idea what's happened or why it's doing it, but I'm sort of out of things to try, so any suggestions would be great?
One odd thing to mention is that I was able to use mobile internet perfectly find this morning, still displaying emergency calls only and No service. I cant hold calls or send/receive text. So, yeah. Anyone able to help? I've had a quick search of the forum but found nothing too similar to what I have, even a recent thread seems similar but not quite the same.
Same here
I have the same issue today.
No more service, for no good reason. I recently upgraded from CM11 snapshot to CM11 nightlies, but all the sudden this morning with no recent upgrade, I get no cell service whatsoever. I've cleared cache, cleared dalvik, cleared/reset data, tried new&old CM roms. Nothing gets it back, it's still "emergency only calls".
Did you find a solution to your issue?

I have an lg vs980 and I was using it with H2O wireless and later I changed to Simple Mobile. I'm living in Puerto Rico. The phone was working all right and, suddenly, one day it was always displaying 'emergency calls only'.
I did factory reset, then I reflashed stock lollipop and it was like nothing happened, keeps displaying 'emergency calls only'.
Then I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2394689 and applied the patch but didn't seem to resolve the problem.
As a last resort I tried flashing cm 12.1 and before first boot applied the patch from the cited thread but no result, keeps displaying 'emergency calls only'.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Hello.
I just flashed this rom and everything is working well (first time I flashed my phone).
I had a little issue with WiFi but it was fixed after wiping everything and flashing again (it sometimes shows an error message but turning it off and on again fixes it).
My only problem is related to 3G and signal in general. It seems to drop very often (both signal and data), is this a known bug or some other setting that could be causing this?. Previously with stock rom it happened but not that often.
When data is on and the "h" is displayed with full signal strenght it means it's on 3G right? Well something strange happens... I don't know if its because of my service provider but when using browser, let say I try to enter to "www bbc com", it takes a long time... but when already on the web page, I can navigate through the entire "domain" as fast as it should be, this happens with almost every web page. What could be causing this?
And is there a way to set a customized vibration setting for calls? It can be done for Messages notifications, but I can't find the setting for calls, because I have my phone almost all the time on silent mode and when vibrating on incoming calls it's too soft.
Thanks! Sorry if I'm asking noobish things.

Hello,
I have the Sony Z2 on Tmobile USA, completely stock (no ROMs, or modifications).
Approximately twice a day, my Z2 randomly stops receiving calls, making calls, and accessing the mobile internet. It still shows plenty of "bars" on the reception meter, thus I have no idea that I'm not receiving calls.
When it happens, this can only be resolved with a restart, or turning on Airplane Mode, then turning it off again. The problem will usually come back within 6 hours, requiring another restart cycle.
If I have WiFi enabled when this is occurring, then I can still access the internet via WiFi, but I will not get calls and text messages. I get no indication anything is wrong, until I try to place a call and it fails.
When this happens, the "Signal Strength" meter (under "About Phone", "Status") does not change, it would read something like -95 dBm no matter where I would take the phone (even in areas of poor coverage). It appears the phone simply looses synchronization with the mobile network, but doesn't notify the user. Other phones on the same mobile carrier continue to work perfectly at the same place, so it's not a mobile carrier issue.
I've had this phone for 8 months, and this is a new phenomenon.
This is Z2 model D6503 and I am on the latest firmware (Android 4.4.4, build 23.0.1.A.0.167). Sony support said "reset the entire phone", of course.
Please share any thoughts you may have about what could be wrong.
Any input is very much appreciated. Thank you!

Most probably random software issue. If you installed any apps recently one of them could be the culprit. Uninstall them or trying booting into safe mode and see if the problem persists with continued usage.
As a last resort you can factory reset the device using the PC companion. But since the lollipop update is round the corner wait for it and see if the update fixes the bug.
If a factory rest or firmware flash doesn't solve the problem its a hardware fault, return it and ask for replacement.
I know I randomly get data drops, but I always cycle mobile data off and on to fix it. Next time it happens, I'll try to make a call to see if this is the same bug that I've having.
Quick update:
Right before the problem started, I installed the current-as-of February 2015 version of Audible on my phone.
After I uninstalled Audible, the issue appears to have disappeared (haven't seen it re-occur yet). Bizarre, but that's the situation,
I have an SGH-I337M on the Bell network. After a flight, I took the phone off of airplane mode and it did not regain service. After a restart service reconnected (data and texting) but then disappeared after a minute. Generally, I do not get "No Service" errors and I have never gotten "SIM Card Removed", the bars and LTE in the corner persist although nothing seems to come through. I did some searching and found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/help/service-problem-i337mvlufni2-t2977997
and gave the instructions a shot. I was able to use data and text for about 5 minutes initially, but since the first boot it has reverted to the original problem (coincidence?). I also took the phone in to a repair shop and had the SIM tray replaced, which did not solve the problem either. I have tried using ODIN to return to stock (I337MVLUFNI2_I337MOYAFNI2_BMC) and have tried CM11 and unofficial lollipop releases. The issue is identical in all cases.
I'm really hoping I missed something obvious here.
Thoughts?

Tested my SIM in another phone and it worked perfectly. Tested different SIM in this phone, same issues.
Bump.
The same issue here. The service/network is lost a few minutes after reboot. When I reboot my phone everything works perfectly fine - call, sms, switching to airplane mode, navigating through Mobile Networks menu items (in Settings->Connections->More Networks->Mobile Networks). After 5 minutes all those features/apps stop working. Everything looks normal but when I start one of those apps, the app hangs/freezes and stays frozen. For example when I try to place a call, the app is stuck in 'Dialing....' process and stays like that forever. When I try to end the call the app is not responding. The same thing with all apps that need/use network. All those apps stay frozen when started. Notification bar is showing I am connected to the network and network icon is showing strong signal. I tried different roms including stock rom but that didn't help. Looks like a software issue but I could be wrong.
Any suggestions anyone?
Phone is rooted and unlocked with multirom since July and has been working great. 3 roms installed; liquidsmooth 5.1.1, chroma 5.1.1, and Ubuntu.
Yesterday, calling started to be intermittent. Sometimes switching airplane mode on/off fixed it, sometimes it didn't. Today I cannot get calls to work at all. Phone shows dialing but then hangs up before any ringing. Incoming calls don't work either, it goes straight to voicemail. I thought it may have been lollipop but the problem occurs in Ubuntu as well. Funny thing is that the phone finds the network carrier and has decent signal.
I havent changed anything on the phone recently, only thing is that I dropped it 3 days ago. Thankfully no cosmetic damage, but am starting to think internal damage.
I've tried soft reboot, cold booting, pulling the sim...no luck
Should also mention I'm on virgin mobile canada...
Any ideas?

You could try flashing the radio image via fastboot.
I tried flashing the radio via recovery... No luck either
