[Q] Global rom for AT&T SGH-I337 ?

Hi there,
I am planning on getting a Red AT&T S4 and getting it unlocked for use with a Canadian Carrier. I would like to know if it will be possible to flash the phone with the stock rom, that is,one that still has touchwiz but no AT&T bloatware. Does such a Rom even exist and can I find it online ? Also, will I get OTA updates once I flash it or will I need to keep re-flashing to get the latest version ?
Thank you for the help.
Goldeneye has exactly what you want:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313469
Touchwiz ROM based on the latest international firmware, debloated, with lots of option addons. AND AWESOME dev support in the above thread.
Once you flash the ROM, you will not be able to receive OTA updates unless you go back to stock. The dev will quickly release updates to the ROM and you can flash the update and reap the benefits!
Sounds good, thanks for the fast reply ! Will flashing the updates afterward remove my data ? Anyway,I guess I will move over to this particular rom thread for more info about that....
One more thing,if I stay with att rom I will be able to get OTA updates ? Or will I loose this ability if I root and go outside the US ?
Thanks,

After you read those, ROMs are located in the "Development" and "Original development" sub forums. But read these before you do anything with them...

Why would you buy an AT&T S4 (bootloader locked) and then use it on a Canadian carrier? Why not just get a SGH-i337M (Canadian) with an unlocked bootloader? If you get the AT&T S4 on MF3 firmware you will only be able to Root it. Custom recovery is not available for that firmware.
Make sure you read all of the information in the threads I linked you to above. The information you need for all of your questions is located in those threads. Good luck.
Really helpful, thanks ! So once I install say goldeneye rom,I'll be able to dirty flash updates without loosing anything right ?

That depends on how significant the updates are. The dev will usually let us know if we can dirty flash.
There's also a semi dirty flash where you wipe everything, flash the rom cleanly, then do an advanced NANDROID restore of only the /data partition.
Once in awhile you might have to redo all your settings but you can use Titanium Backup to help out with the app settings. Titanium can also restore your calls logs/SMS/MMS. Of course all your contacts should be stored on Google's cloud so those come back automatically.

[Q] Should I update from 4.3 JB to 4.4.2 KK ?

Hello
I recently got my S4 i9505. I'm planning to root it
I have Android version 4.3
I used to flash costum roms on my s2 but I'm not really planning to do much flashing on my S4. not soon anyway
So as I connected the phone to Kies to make sure the drivers were downloaded so I can proceed with rooting
Firmware update popped up
I'm not sure what the best option for me now.
Should I root now and then I'd be able to flash a costume KK rom? and are there any stable ones that are better than the stock?
Can I use kies to update my rooted phone?
Maybe I should stick with JB 4.3? Which one is better 4.3 or 4.4.2?
I remember facing some issues when I update my s2 back. So I searched for the KK Update for the s4 and some people weren't so happy with their KK update
I know that doesn't represent the majority but still it could happen to me
So I confused myself
What is your advice to me?
sorry for the long post
Also I have an extra question What is KNOX? and do I need it?

First, the most problems in 4.4.2 are fixed, so if you flash the officical, latest firmware of your country you shouldn't have any problem.
An important thing: if you flash a custom rom, your warranty will be set 0x1, that means, you lost your garanty if you flash a custom rom, that's the so called KNOX. You can use knox like a second system on your phone, with all secure data in it, you can only access with a passwort and all datas are locked without this passwort.
Root your phone after the software update if you want to root it.

[Q] How to update to 5.0.1

Hi,
Im from the netherlands and noticed that the update for 5.0.1 is available.
I have the Exynos (N910C) version android 4.4.4 rooted installed now.
I have changed dpi settings true xposed.
What is the best way to update to the new version 5.0.1 ?
Thanks,
Roy
I have used the auto root to root the stock rom.
N910C is Exynos, not Snapdragon, so choose your ROM carefully.
Best way to upgrade is to backup everything first, then install new ROM with Odin (download correct version from sammobile), then root using your method of choice (I personally recommend flashing TWRP recovery and choose root on exit).
After that, you can restore everything you need from the backups.

Your device was rooted and no way to upgrade 5.0.1 via OTA. The only way now is download latest Firmware (for your Area) on Sammobile.com or similar website then using Odin to upgrade. Remember: full wipe on recovery first then flashing FW via Odin on Downloadmod.
Thanks for the awnsers. i meant the Exynos, sorry for that.
I havent tryed to update it true normal update way becouse i thought this wasnt possible as my device is rooted.
So i might try if i can do this?
Roy
OTA will fail because you tripped Knox when you rooted.
Besides, lollipop brings a new bootloader, modem and csc, so even if you choose to flash a custom lollipop ROM, you still need to upgrade those using Odin.

thanks,
I have installed the 5.0.1 version true odin without doing a full wipe. I still have all my apps and files and it seems to work oke.
Did i have to do a full because of the battery draining stuff? or is it oke like this?
Roy
Should be fine as it is, but a full wipe once in a while never hurts...
If you notice something wrong, battery drain, lag or even applications force-close, then why not... perform a full wipe and restore your apps and settings gradually.
Make sure you backup everything, i failed my stock update to android 5..0.1 (OTA), and now i still didnt found anyway to get my data back, it remains dead there
Titanium Backup FTW

[Q] Can I restore 4.3 nandroid backup while on 5.0?

Hello,
I'm going to buy Note 3 N9005 (Poland) with upgraded android to lollipop 5.0, because noone has factory default here. Everyone getting phone out of the box and after first boot update info appear so they click it. Geez! Anyway... if i get such phone can i get nandroid backup of 4.3 for matching model from someone else and restore it not worrying about downgrade lock? Maybe with repartition option turned on with odin? If yes please post a link to your nandroid backup for N9005 XEO or any other with polish language. If noone has such backup could be any firmware for N9005 with US English.
I'm going to try downgrade like "cristityy" does, but if it fail I need to be sure I can make it other way. Can anyone confirm, since 2011yr, if this method works? I did such things before with my S2, Ace, Ace 2, Young with success. Some tries ended with bootloop but those have no lock so there were always a way out.
Nope

Flash new firmware

Hey all!
So, I've got a Note 3 SM-N9005 but I've got this issue. When I try to update my Kitkat to Lollipop it says "Your device have been modified, Software updates are not available". I did have it rooted around a year ago and when I click 'Status' at the device info screen, it says 'modified', so I guess that's the issue.
Either way, I'd like Lollipop since I've heard it can solve the bad wifi connection issue, but I have no clue on how to install the new firmware safe and sound on my Note 3.
Does someone have any tips for me on where to find the newest stock firmware and how to flash it on my device? Or how to remove the 'Modified' status so I can get the update over the air?
Thanks in advance!
P.s. My Knox isn't void, it still says 0x0

Yeah I read a lot already, but most of it is dated back at least a few months. And I thought, since this is an expert forum.
Should I just backup everything (like put everything on my computer and use some software to backup game data + sms data etc.) and use Kies? Or should I use Odin and download stock firmware from Sammobile? I'm really not an expert and I don't want to **** it up and brick my phone.
Have a look in the developer section, there are several different custom ROM you can use, I currently have the Phronesis ROM on my Note3 it's a Lollipop Note5 ROM and it is working very good with all the Note5 features such as screen note on lock screen etc.
hi, backup all to your pc and download stock rom and flash with odin or custom rom, but if you want ota flash stock
