[Q] Issue With Booting Into CWM (Manually/In-App) - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After rooting my D80010q with ioRoot24 I decided to install ROM Manager and make a NANDroidBackup before I installed Xposed. The root works but an issue came up after I attempted to boot into recovery (CWM Touch 6.0.4.4). I simply got a dead android icon after the LG logo. After I Googled the issue and couldn't find any kind of solution besides attempting to boot into recovery manually by holding the volume buttons and the power button while turning on the device, which failed, I decided to come here.
Has anyone encountered this before and knows of any kind of solution to boot into recovery? I'm guessing it's because the bootloader is locked but I could be wrong. Didn't plan on installing a custom ROM though.
Info:
Carrier: AT&T
Device: D80010q
Android Version: 4.2.2
ROM Manager Version: 5.5.3.7
CWM Version: 6.0.4.4 Touch
Rooted with ioRoot24
Recovery flashed within the ROM Manager app

Alright, I downloaded Flashify. Do you want me to download it from within the app because it said it can't find a compatible TWRP recovery within the app.

[Q] Trying to Flash CWM Recovery

As far as I know and what i have research, the only rom recovery that can be flash to my LG G2 is TWRP and would have to use Loki to bypass the bootloader. Please correct me if I'm wrong in the information. I have the ATT version, software version is D80010o, and on 4.2.2 Android Version Stock Rom of cause.
Questions:
- Does the G2 have to have an unlocked bootloader to flash anything even if it is rooted?
- Is TWRP the only recovery that can be flashed to the G2? If so what is the "manger" for it similar to Rom manager with CWM.
- Is there any other way to backup your current rom without using any recovery, this is my main goal for the moment?
Note: I have check if it is compatible with CWM base on the website yet when i flash CWM with Rom Manager( not the touch support version) and try to reboot the Red Triangle pops up. I have tried with Flashify and download the recovery img to the sd and it comes up with secure booting error ( I'm not sure if this is because i flashed both CWM and CWM with touch at the same time with Flashify wasn't sure if i needed to flash both for touch to work or just CWM Touch)
Please inform me with the correct produces to follow or link me to a solution. Side note this is my first time with an Android device and my first Smartphone so I'm kinda new to this rooting roms, kernal, thing. Thank you in advance to anyone that can help. Feel free to message me through XDA. Thanks.

[Q] (T-Mobile) (D801) Installing Recovery Help

I have the Tmobile LG G2 (D801)
-Software D890110G
-Build JDQ39B
-Rooted using ioroot method
I cannot install either TWRP or CWM Recovery.
No matter what method I use to install a recovery (a zipped recovery) or using adb fastboot, I always end up on a black screen with
[720] Fastboot mode started
[770] udc_start()
I need the latest CWM or TWRP so I can flash 4.4 Roms. I feel like there is no definite guide on how to install the recovery or it seems like a recovery for D801 does not exist.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.
-Esteef
There is a guide and a YouTube video walking you through installing twrp through adb. I used it Saturday, works. But I'm thinking I need cwm to install cm11 twrp fails every time.

I just I stalled twrp on my phone today, so here's how I did it. Download recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469995 , save it on phone SD, dcim folder. Now download flashify from play store. Go to app and choose recovery image, look for the one downloaded earlier. That will flash the recovery and boot after.

Just Tried your method I still get the black screen with the Text on the top left corner.
I'm starting to believe I cannot change recoveries on my phone.
Also, using your method, It only installs 2.6.3.2 , I need 2.6.3.4 or latest CWM cause I want 4.4 based roms. 2.6.3.2 always give me an error when installing 4.4 roms

[Q] Recovery (CM or TWRP) for LS980

I've got the Sprint LG G2 LS980. Yesterday I was able to root my phone using ioroot22 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48709232&postcount=869&nocache=1&z=4196684400085360. But I've not been able to find a version of ClockworkMod or TWRP that is compatible with the ls980. Obviously I'm missing something - there wouldn't be a whole group dedicated to the development of ls980 ROMs if there was no way to flash them... I tried GooManager (Install OpenRecoveryScript), "No recoveries were found for your device". I tried Flashify: TWRP - "No recovery was found for your device"; CWM: "No recovery was found for your device". I've tried searching the forums and googling in general and am coming up empty... What am I missing?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Thanks! I'm not sure what to do with that now.... :/
I tried following the instructions at http://www.droidviews.com/root-and-...lg-g2-verizon-att-sprintt-mobile-bell-rogers/, substituting the recovery.img file you linked to instead of the one they reference in the twrp section, but it tells me "Input file is not a Loki image."
Are there any FAQs or wikis on how to do this stuff? I've never had this much trouble rooting and flashing roms on a phone before.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522965
follow the instructions in this thread to download the old version and install, then install the newest one
Thanks, I've got it working!
I'm having trouble with the power+volume down to boot recovery from a power off state... I've found I can reboot into recovery via flashify - but is there a simpler way? When I try the power+volume down, I still get the sprint logo, no matter how I try...

You can't be plugged in first of all.
Hold volume down and power until you see the LG LOGO let go and press volume down and power again.
It'll go to a factory reset screen which isn't going to factory reset but rather boot you into recovery.
Hit power 3 times.
And now your in recovery.
You can use xposed ( google xposed framework) install something like G2 xposed from the market get it all set up in xposed and reboot.
You should be able to set the option in g2 exposed to set an advanced power menu.
hope this helps if you havent figured it out already or for future reference

all you need to do is download a bad ass program called freegee in the play store, it will automatically detect your phone brand and model and then install either cwm or twrp on your device for you...ive personally used this program for a while now and i own an ls980 and confirm that twrp works wonderful on there....another good program also is twrp manager root from the play store, which allows easy boot to recovery and other useful options....hope this helps..

[Q] Recovery boot error

I used FreeGee to try to install a custom recovery after root. First TWRP, stuck at performing action. Then CWM. Then the older CWM. Always stuck at performing action. The old CWM worked. Reboot to recovery and get security boot error. Looked around on forums and found a CWM batch install that everyone says works for them. Still recovery boot error. Anyone know what's up? I'm on AT&T D800. Rooted by ioroot25
Also RomManager says I have both recoveries installed. Thinking this might be the issue. How do I delete one or both and get on the right track?
I think I have the same problem. Could u solve the problem?

Thanks again for quick help however I have checked the downgrade process and its too long plus I have to download stock 4.2.2 firmware which is 1GB plus in size..
So is there no easy method to install recovery on already rooted stock 4.4.2 firmware?

And use AutoRec to flash TWRP, then into TWRP you can flash the latest version of the recovery.
