[Q] Is it possible to use the nexus 4 without battery? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a nexus 4 here that I will be replacing the battery soon. And I wanted to make sure that the touch worked before I buy one. It has cracks along the top of the screen but the lcd isn't broken. When I have the battery in I can't do anything with my Nexus because it is bad. But when I take the battery out and hold the volume down while inserting the charger. I am able to get into the bootloader, followed by selecting start. I will see the Google logo for a second or 2 like it is going to boot and it will shut off. Any suggestions?

Here are a few pictures with the bootloader started, and the Google word that comes up after selecting start from the bootloader. The battery was out while I was on these screens (charger only). But after Google screen phone will shut off.

I don't think you can just use the phone without a battery like that. Also since you have a crack there could be a possibility the digitizer is broken

One option is to use the battery connection and attach an usb direct into it. It works, but for some reason, the phone shutdown whitout warning after some seconds. after the boot is completed

Charging issues?

Has anybody experienced charging problems ? I recently got my nexus and had to put it in charge yesterday, but it won't. It will charge one second but not the next

Try popping the back off and check the battery connector.
Alot of Nexus 7's have a loose battery connection.
(Its just as easy as popping a phone back off so don't panic )
This question must have been asked at least 50 times already. Do a search, you'll find some good answers.
But the problem is that its not charging at all

Quick window free case. .

As some of you noticed the lg g2 came with a free quick window case. Which I personally really really like. Just when the flap goes over the screen. It never stays on the screen... Its always raised. So its not stable and it can turn on the device by accident. Just wanted to know if anyone is having same issues or have a solution ( if you know what I am on about anyway)

same issue here
Mine didn't come with the case...

No free case here. But then again att likes to repackage their phones and take out all the extra goodies a phone would normally come with.

You have to break it in. It takes about a week or so.

After about a month, it's still a bit raised for me. I was hoping it'd be magnetized or weighted.
It's nice to see i'm not the only one with this problem, even though it is a pretty minor issue to me anyway, it is REALLY annoying :/
you would of though they would have put a magnet on it or something.
Yes it will work after you open and closer it about 100 times. I also layed a book on mine eventually it works as intended

Battery suddenly drops to 0%

Hi,
Since about a week ago my nexus suddenly started to die at about 30-40%, it depends. I don't really care about the fact that my battery is empty, but the fact that it happens on 30% and I don't receive a notification at 14% is really annoying. Is there a fix for this?
I'm running Aicp with stock Aicp kernel.
EDIT: Since I stopped charging my battery percentage hasn't changed for about half an hour.
Edit 2: I rebooted and now it's 41%.. Really strange

It's getting worser now, it usually turns off when it's around 40% and around 50% I lose connection with mobile network and can't connect any more. I've tried different radio's but had no effect. I'd really like to know how to fix this. Or is the only solution to buy a new battery?

Take the back off the phone and see if your battery is bulging. This sounds like a battery issue. I had similar symptoms on my last phone. I took the battery out and spun it like a top.

Yeah I had it with my old galaxy Y too, my battery became so fat the battery cover didn't fit any more. But that happened slightly, this came out of nothing.

Haha, I was with friends and suddenly I noticed that I was able to spin my phone, and together with the fact that the battery was acting strange I thought it must have been swollen. And yesterday I saw a little lump.

Battery Drain

So lately I've been getting a horrible battery drain on my s4 no matter what ROM I use i still have this problem. My phone won't charge, sometimes if I do a reboot it'll work fine but it always comes back. Has anyone else been experiencing this?

I even lose battery when charging my phone

I have insurance on it through best buy mobile, so if I return it to stock do you think they would swap it for a new one?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm gonna flash back to stock with the NAE .tar file and if problem still occurs then I'll go to best buy mobile and get it looked at and see if they will swap it out with new one. I really want the s4 with spark compatibility anyway lol.

Not saying this is what it is but check this out http://mobile.pcmag.com/?origref=ht...-your-android-device-is-infected-with-malware
I use 360 antivirus. One of the best there is.. Just trying to help.. Hope whatever it is you get it resolved @churchey360

@flashback7 I don't think that's it but it could be lol. I'm thinking its because I've been using wifi tethering alot lately and it drains my battery and makes my phone really hot. One time it got so hot that I got a message saying my battery was overheated and my phone shut off. I think that may be the cause of it.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That'll do it. I unplug mine before it overheats.
