[Help] New phone i337m Root help

I've just recently bought this S4 off my friend
The phone was bought in canada, and sent to Denmark for my friend's brother to use
and he now sent it back to me (Canada) because my S3 has died on me.
It is an GS4 i337m VLUFNE1
It is on official firmware 4.4.2
I want to root it to enable AWS to use it with Wind mobile
I assume the phone is unlocked because it was used in Denmark
Please direct me to a thread that will be able to root this model
I have looked at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293800
but I'm nervous to follow the method because there is a discussion about unlocked and locked bootloaders, and i'm not sure
if this method will work for mine.
Your help is appreciated.
There is no carrier logo on the back of the phone either, if that helps.
Did you check if towelroot works? Its just running an app.

[Q] Seeking Lollipop update on Note 3 after switching from AT&T to T-mobile

Hi, I've been searching for a solution for failed Lollipop update on my AT&T device. I bought my device with AT&T and switched to T-mobile with sim unlock a year later. I'm currently running N900A...NC2 (4.4.2). My device is rooted but i haven't done much after rooting it except removing some bloatware. I'm able to download the OTA update that AT&T is pushing (at least i think its the lollipop update). However, after download the installation fails. I don't know if this is because i'm not with AT&T any longer or is it because my device is rooted. Tried calling T-mobile with no avail. Wondering what my options are at this point.
I read in a thread here that DO NOT FLASH other carrier's stock firmware with ODIN. How true is that? I'm pretty novice at Android devices. So any help/suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Root can stop OTA.
ATT note forum is here .

Updating an unlocked Samsung galaxy S4 to Lollipop

I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (Unlocked) and I am currently using it on Cricket wireless. The phone is currently running on Android 4.4.3 and I would like to update the same to Lollipop. Samsung Galaxy S4 got Lollipop rolled out by AT&T recently but I was not able to get the same since I switched carriers.
Now what is the best way to update the phone. If possible I don't want to root the phone. I went to best buy local store but they were not able to do the same as they said the phone is unlocked. Please let me know how I can update my phone to the latest version. It will be really helpful if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks all in advance for the help.
Will putting a AT&T sim in my phone help with the OTA? In the sense if I get an AT&T sim card from someone or purchase one and put it in to my phone will that help with the OTA? I am not sure if this phone was unlocked by AT&T.
I was able to successfully install the updates on my phone. I was able to downgrade my phone by installing stock 4.4.2 using ODIN and then was able to upgrade my device to 4.4.4 first and then update to 5.0.1 via OTA. It was an easy process and the instructions in the ODIN thread was really helpful.
Similar situation
I too have an unlocked SGH-I337 that is unlocked from AT&T and I'm using it on T-Mobile. How did you perform the Lollipop update without an AT&T SIM? I took mine to the Samsung experience at Best Buy and they weren't able to do it via Kies and they believe it's because it's unlocked. Nothing else has been done to it, just the AT&T unlock so that I could switch carriers.
Thanks in advance,
Charlotte

Question about a new Galaxy S5 I received

Hello,
I recently had to trade in my old Galaxy S5 (Verizon) which was damaged beyond repair and received a newer upgraded model. I tried rooting it but was unable to get it to boot so I had to put it back on 5.0. After reading through some content I've learned that my phone may not be rootable, I'm hoping I'm wrong and there is a way to do it and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Model: SM-G900V
Android Version: 5.0
Baseband: G900VVRU2BOG5
Build: LRX21T.G900VVRU2BOG5
I've read that BOG5 cant be rooted, but stumbled across this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/vzwstock-based-tw-rom-t3178953
Can anyone tell me what that is and if I can install it on my phone to allow root?
Thanks
BOG5 cannot be rooted. In order to flash that ROM you linked, you have to be rooted first. So you are stuck.

Verizon and I believe AT&T has locked bootloaders, which prevents their smartphones from gaining root.
It's really a shame.
You're only solution is to try trading it online for another Galaxy S5.
For example, I have a Canadian Galaxy S5 Model: SM-G900W8, which doesn't have a locked bootloader, easy to unlock, so I can now use any (GSM) SIM card.
Check which US mobile carriers would would on an unlocked S5, then root away.
I know (an unlocked) Canadian S5 works on AT&T & T-Mobile for sure.
Verizon is like Wind Mobile ( using UMTS and HSPA+ 3G mobile networks )
Good luck.
