s4 i9505 - no signal - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Hope someone can help!
I flashed my S4 i9505 to 4.4.2 (Jamal) and now I have problems with my signal but my wifi is working fine.
It identifies the network: lycamobile and the mobile network type : hspa. but service status : out of service, Mobile network state: disconnected,
Also if I dial *#1234# I get 'Mobile Network not available' message, so I cannot check my Csc, Pda info.
I have tried flashing different basebands using Odin, but I still cannot fix this problem.
Any ideas? Thanks!

My flashed rom is 4.4.2 Jamal version 1.2.
I have flashed the modem with i9505XXUFNB8, i9505XXEMK9, i9505XXEMKF, i9505XXUFNAD, i9505XXUFNA5 using Odin.
None of these give me a signal or let me access *#1234#.
Do I need to do something with the Bootloader?
My knowledge is limited. Basically, I'm just flashing different modems using Odin and none of them are working..
Any suggestions? I'm in Ireland if that makes any difference.
Thanks

Didn't you should do this:
1) Root the Phone
2) Put the CWM on the phone
3) clear dalvic cache, clear userdata and clear caches
4) Install the .ZIP to your phone and a Kernel (mine is Faux123 kernel)
On mine, everything works fine May this helps you out. Go back to stock and then follow these Steps
Remember: Full Battery before flashing anything

Thanks for your reply. I did all this but the problem is the same.
I just flashed again to 4.4.2 (Jamal 1.2).
The images attached below show the situation.
It recognises my network : Lycamobile but
Service status : Out of service
Mobile network state: Disconnected
Also, *#1234# doesn't work. I get "Mobile network not available" so I cannot check CSC, PDA info.
I am in Ireland with open sim phone. Can anyone recommend me a ROM to flash or firmware to flash?
Thanks!

Did you tried using a different carrier? Does it work with other carrier? Would be interesting

one over them:

Hey that site is requested money to check and I don't have credit card and such, any free way of checking?

Help! No network after flashing gpe!

So, first of all -- I get it, I'm a noob. But everyone's gotta start somewhere, and so did you.
Moving on, I had a stock Galaxy S4 i9505 on 4.2.2, locked to Portugal's Vodafone (I now understand this is probably what caused my issues).
I wiped data, cache, and flashed the Google Play Edition ROM. When the phone booted, I had no network, even after inserting the PIN number and going through the setup process. So I went to the Network Carrier selector in the Settings (Settings More - Mobile Networks - Network Operators) and selected Vodafone from the menu.
Then I got network. For 2 minutes. Then no network again, until I repeated. So this was driving me nuts, and I Googled what to do, and found out I could use an app called "Network" to try and switch from WCDMA to CDMA. So I downloaded that app, changed my network (to something - I don't know what since I can't open the app, as it crashes every time), and I'm still with the same issue.
Flashed back stock image and restored nandroid backup - nothing helped. Any solutions?
TL;DR: GS4 Locked to Vodafone -- Flashed GPe ROM -- No Network -- Flashed Stock -- Still no network
EDIT: I actually didn't quite flash back to where I was before, so I can't get my Nandroid backup to work (bootloop); I was on 4.2.2 stock, ended up flashing 4.3 stock since I couldn't find a 4.2.2, so my backup doesn't work.
Bump! Please someone help out, it's not my phone, it's my dad's, and I really have to get it to work really fast, he needs it for work.

Well you can try either do a factory reset / Wipe cache via recovery and if still doesnt work try to Flash/Download the firmware base from your country via odin , Or flash a different kernel.

Hi
Could be for several resons....
Dial *#06# what you see?
Modem / bootloader incompatibility , try a different modem
failure to mount the efs folder . check here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/help/imei-baseband-unknown-t294284
I think it will apply also to TW
Bad EFS folder , for this you need an EFS back up , if not you may have to take to a local service center and have fix the imei number , you need a Z3X box or similar
Of course could be hardware , open phone if you know how , check the antenna cable , check the sim caddy

The sim card is fine, it works well in another phone.
I did see it flash the 4.2.2 modem during Odin when I successfully flashed it from 4.4.2. So maybe the modem is the problem. Where can I try other modems?

No I wasn't on Omega, I somehow managed to downgrade my 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 stock firmware and watched keenly what was going on when I noticed it flashed everything including the modem. My 4.4.2 TWRP backup only consisted of data, system and cache restore and I think that's where all the issues started. I've just seen right this very instance that it is XUGNF6 that before I saw this page update with your answer also confirming the same and it doesn't seem to be there in the listing of modems you posted. I have identified it in the stock firmware and am 23min from finishing the entire 1.6GB firmware which I started over an hour ago just incase it resorts to that. Man! this is nerve racking
The problem has been sorted but am getting alot of processandroid.media has stopped working. It is so persistent I cant use the phone but it now recognizes my simcard. What can I do to resolve this?
Update: I rebooted immediately and factory wiped/reset & cache and everything is now fine. The IMEI has been restored using the South African modem.
My goodness! All I was trying to do in the very first place was to install Prism barebones when all went haywire! I remember without a shadow of a doubt that I had not checked sd mem card in TWRP v2.8.0.1 when it cleared literally everything in the phone. For some reason my mem card that had the barebones.zip is now trashed and unusable. Had stock firmware 4.2.2 lying around and just for the sake of it I attempted to flash as I downloaded 4.4.2 as a last resort as I posted here for quicker help since this i9500 is my main communicator. Incidentally the 4.2.2 flashed successfully but trashing my IMEI in the process and my onscreen keyboard had started showing greenish artifacts as I type, reflashing it eliminated them but still my simcard was unrecognizable. Then I go through a nerve racking waiting period of like 5 hrs with my mind in limbo (couldn't even concentrate in the smallest things) just trying to download XUGNF6 modem S.A.
Now atleast I'm back on earth. One interesting thing after all this. My phone is described by all sections in it as official except the Knox warrant void : 1. I have a very strong feeling the hack is right infront of our noses we just haven't figured it out how to reset this counter to 0x0. The whole plan was to be on Prism by now but I just stepped back into stock world. Just as a precaution, I have just booted into TWRP and backed up EFS, cache and preload just incase limbo awaits me ones again in the future. Why is it such a hustle with most samsung devices?
Now before I even think of a custom rom, how I'm I going to protect my modem and other vital partitions from being flashed and ruining my android experience??????

Need NK1 modem for N900L.

Anyone who can make me a flashable zip of NK1 modem for N900L or guide me in the right direction? I flashed an old version of Modem on my Note 3 (Korean Version) and now cant get any signals. I tried a couple of Korean sites but could not understand the language. google translate is not much helping either and now I am stuck with an expensive video player only . I tried to odine flash modem file for N9005 (having the same hardware features) but always end up with a "fail" message during writing.

Cant I just flash NK1 modem for another variant like N9005? I am asking this because I saw a guy who had NK1 modem installed and was working fine on my network. I did ask him but he told me it was installed when he got the phone of the local market. the phone was running on a custom rom (Omega v13). I checked the Omega thread but It does not have modem file that means the modem file was separately flashed. I tried flashing N9005 Modem (NK1 has been released for that model) via odin but always end up with a write error. Is there any way around or can i flash it via recovery?

Make a factory reset -> Go to Settings > Backup & Restore and have a good read. You'll see your stock backup and restore options from Google but I highly recommend using another backup option on top of these (you can find more options in the link at the bottom of the ''Backup first'' section above). You simply tap the Factory Data Reset option and read the warning text, then hit ''Reset Device'' once you're ready. Your device will reboot and wipe itself clean. If only the dirty dishes were that easy.

Wifi greyed-out after lollipop update on SM-9005

Hi guys
I have run into little problem that I'm hoping learned members here can help me with.
I have a Note 3 SM-9005 that was running Kitkat 4.4.2 and I got it updated to 5.0 from a mobile repair guy. Everything looked smooth until I got home and noticed that now the WiFi does not work anymore. It always stays greyed out and never turns on.
I have tried turning on download booster, smartswitch, nothing helps. I have wiped cache, wipe data / factory reset but that's of no help.
Can you please help me get my WiFi working again.
Many thanks.
Cheers

Ok just checked. It looks to be the Phillipines/Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand version. With some of them branded. Not sure which one I should be picking up?
The stock ROM may be slightly different for each country but you can try the latest Singapore version.

Thanks
Will it trip Knox? As I would be putting a SIN firmware on a XSI (UAE) handset?
Flashing a stock rom will not trip Knox.
Personally, unless there is warranty left on the phone, I wouldn't worry about tripping the Knox counter.

Thanks for your reply.
I have also just noticed that the WiFi hotspot (tethering) doesn't work either.
I downloaded the latest XSI (UAE) firmware and installed it using Odin. But the problem still persists.
Should I try downloading and installing a Singapore firmware?
Is there a possibility that this phone is actually a carrier branded phone and was later debranded and that's why it's having this problem?
Please help life is difficult without Wifi
Does Bluetooth work? It's possible that the phone has a defective wifi chip. I have two galaxy s4 phones that have dead wifi chips but everything else works.
You can try flashinga another country's firmware but not sure if that will help.
Do you have a backup of the efs folder?

Yes the bluetooth works.
The phone's WiFi was working fine before being updated to Lollipop.
No I got it updated from a phone repair guy before I got my hands dirty and put the new firmware my self. So no efs folder backup, unfortunately.
Hmm without knowing what the repair person did to the phone or how the update was performed, it's possible something went wrong during the flash process. Does the phone show the correct imei and MAC address?

He did it in front of me and from memory I can tell that he took a firmware file and used a software (probably Odin) to flash it in download mode.
The phone does show the correct IMEI as written under the battery spot and in device info does show a WiFi mac addresd however I'm unsure how to verify if that may be the correct one.
I have browsed Google and found few other people's posts on different forums who have this exact same problem. Someone suggested that I should reflash the firmware with bootloader checked using Odin.
Do you think it may be of help?
I have just discovered that the serial number on the back of the phone under battery is different from what is reported by the device.
Does this give any hint to what may be the issue?
