I doubt it's that simple. You might have some coercing to do to get the unlock code...

Actually its a law. After you have been with t mobile for 90 days you can request an unlock code and they will give it to you. I have done it for all my phones. Its that easy.
It's not locked to T-MOBILE ...

Just call the provider it is locked to. Tell them you are going oversea's and need your phone unlocked cause your going to use a local sim card.
I have 4 phones .
I'd be very interested to hear of anyone who's managed to get an unlock code from Rogers in Canada.

to change it to German, just go to settings, locale and select locale and choose austria.

I know and I won't do (at least in the nearby future).
Posted this just for information for others.
I tried to google with no results. Would appreciate if you could explain how do I check if the bootloader is locked or not?

What would be the reason that I cannot unlock the bootloader? Motorola website says it cannot be obtained
The amazon version (the one with ads) has a non-unlockable bootloader.

Then I'm not sure, maybe it was previously unlocked? I'm just guessing here, could just as well be an error on Motorola's side.

Maybe when I hook to PC, I will run a command to check if it's already unlocked. Isn't it fastboot get oem data?
Mods , please delete post. Thanks.
There's no method to unlock the bootloader on this phone, correct? I mean, none that actually work that I can do within say, the next 24 hours?

Unfortunately, US version Samsung phones have a firm bootloader that can't be unlocked.

That is unfortunate, it instantly devalues the phone from my perspective. Thx for the reply.
