Hi.
After searching through the forum to find an answer to this issue, I didn't find anything. Therefore I'm creating this thread.
This issue started when I updated OTA to a CM11 nightly. Now whenever I plug my phone on the outlet to charge it or to the computer, it doesn't assume that I unplugged it when I'm done. In other words, it's always charging / always connected to the computer. I've tried to do a full wipe of the phone but it didn't solve the issue. This only happens in certain roms. I do not remember doing a factory reset and flashing the stock rom with ODIN.
However, when I unplug the phone and remove the battery, the issue is fixed. Whenever I plug it back, it starts again.7
I appreciate your help.
Thanks alot.

Never had this problem. The only options are to flash stock rom via Odin OR wait for CM11 stable update. Try giving a hard reset.

Hey my friend!
Well if you'd bought a huawei nothing of this would be happening lolol
Just kidding, well it may be related to the way how you switch off the usb connection, have you tried already to select in windows the safe switch off USB mode?
If it isn't that problem, after a nanbackup try to wipe cache and dalvick cache, and if the problem continues a full wipe may be needed, formatting system, data and cache... And freshly installing the new update from CM11...
If still continues... Well you can always trade your device with your neighbor LMAO
Anyway I would wait for a new update or a stable release...
Good luck.

Try to clean up your charging point by brush or any suitable thing. some shorting might be there by dust or any other thing.
I had the same problem and resolved.
I did everything you suggested a couple of days ago. It didn't work.
Nebur, m8, could it be related to the modem baseband? Because it also happens when I connect it to the charger. After I unplug it, the phone says it is still charging...
The plot thickens.

Hmm... Baseband / Ril mismatch perhaps!?
But doubt it... I think that the problem is more related with usb permissions (kernel config) than with any other thing... But that's MHO...

Ok, this is a fun one...
I was up late last night (too late to be doing anything on my nook apparently) and I opened CWM to see if there was an update for it. I noticed it could check for updates to my ROM, so I found the new nightly (160) with it. I decided to install it to see if that would be an easier way then manually downloading and flashing. It cam up with options to wipe cache and such, and I did not realize until too late that the Data and Cache options were one in the same.
So I set it to do a backup, then wipe the data/cache, and dalvik cache. When it booted back up I had lost everything...obviously. So I rebooted into recovery, and restored my backup. Once finished, the screen went blank and did not come back on.
Now I get nothing, no response from the screen. Today I DID plug it into the usb on my work computer and it tried to install drivers so I think it may be on...
Anyone have any ideas?
Anybody?
I'm hopin it is on and that the battery will die...but I am not sure that will solve anything.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Go here and start again: http://mrm3.net/nook-color-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-nightlies/
Make sure you use the latest version of CWR (3.2.0.1)
The problem is actually that I get no response from my screen. It does not turn on, flash like it's going to work, DO anything. That's what has me so worried

It is fully charged and you get nothing with a bootable SD card installed? Have you tried this while still plugged in to the a/c current?
I do not know about being fully charged...but I HAVE tried it plugged into USB on my computer. Still nothing.
Ok, I got it on! Not sure if this was it but now it complained about low battery. I had previously plugged it in for a whole night and got nothin. I think I will use your previous link to just wipe it all and start from scratch.
-------------
Edit: I am back up and running, thanks for your advice!
So I start with some history:
SGS i9000
Currently using 10.2.2 (just flashed) JVQ
Android 2.3.4
When I got Darky 10.2 everything seemed smooth. Problems started to occur little by little. Battery drain, always 98-95% when taking off from the charger. Strange tilts, app / screen just freezes and after a while automatic reboot. Strange slowdowns, sometimes friends can't call me...
I think it's all because of custom kernel and rom.
Now I can't connect my Samsung to my Mac. It charges but no connection. I tried different cable, flashing 10.2 to 10.2.2. Wiping everything on the phone. Nothing. Phone is in Mass Storage state, also tried USB Debugging.
It's kinda hard to reflash this thing to previous systems because how do I flash with Odin without usb connection.
Any ideas?
You might try another PC with a fresh USB driver install. I'd suggest a Windows running one.
Restart phone and comp.
@zomirp: i'm not an idiot
I've done everything one could imagine. Tried PC instead of my Mac. Different USB cable. I've reflashed, wiped all data + dalvik cache. I've tried to switch USB from PhoneUtil to Modem and back to PDA but no help.
Boot into recovery and restore your nandroid backup from known working config. You have a backup right...?
Failing that, can't you download 10.2 again on your phone, restart in recovery and install using CWM?
@dolphindos sorry to hear that your phone is misbehaving.
I had something similar, but instead of immediatly blaming the software, I decided to take a look at the hardware.
what are the odds that software changes hardware....
I think your usb connector crapped out just like mine did recently. I went to the repair center got it fixed and all's fine now.
My thoughts have a look at the hardware
Yes that is a possibility. Well I guess I need to find a way to get stock firmware flashed since I can't take the phone with Darky's to manufacturer.
I updated OTA my Note 4 n910f to the latest built. It was something about Samsung Cloud. Since then i haven't been able to use my phone for even a minute. It keeps rebooting every 1 minute. When plugged in it reboots but for like every 3 minutes. And it doesn't charge, my battery was 66% when i plugged it on AC, and it keeps going down like 64% plugged it. I don't know if any of you had this issue before or are having now but i cant use my phone for 2 days now. I tried to clear cache data via recovery, also wiped storage, factory reset, wiped everything but no luck. Where is my problem, is my battery dead or software issue. I didn't have this before the last update. Help !

Flash stock firmware via odin and do a factory reset after flashing firmware.hopefully it should fix the problem. Go to (www.sammobiles.com/firmwares) choose your model number and download latest firmware.
Already did that, no luck. !

Try flashing lollipop .
If the problem still persists after lollipop, then go to a service centre .
If they repair it ,well-n-good but if they don't then try rooting your device and then change the kernel.

I have tried to encrypt the phone. Was running on Neuclear ROM. As soon as I started the process the phone starts to reboot again and again for infinity times.
I can go to recovery.
My phone is getting connected to PC also.
I've fully wiped the phone via TWRP then reflashed the phone but still the same. Phone is restarting continuously. Someone please help me ASAP.
How long do you own the phone, and have you ever had a bootloop issue before?
If the age is beyond 1 year and had a bootloop before. It might be a bad board. I had the same problem..

Wipe internal storage too or else flash stock image using qfil.
Try wiping storage too?
Tried many times by full wiping the phone via TWRP but the phone was in same condition. Then reflashed via qfil and it is alive again.

You should read the post above yours which contains a possible solution
Hi everybody.
Dis morning I woke up and I realized that my phone was gone. I used AOSP Extendend ROM when it happens. At first, the rom completely froze. I thought it was a bug, so I rebooted the phone, but after did dis, the phone kept on rebooting and froze on first screen and I couldn't do anything. Touch didn't respond, nothing worked.
So I tried to go on recovety, but nothing.
At the end, I gave up about take back my data and try to install the stock ROM through MiFlash. I tried different stock ROM, but at the first they works, but during the installation guide they froze again and reboot. I can't even finish the setup!
So I tried again, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, but still there:
- only TWRP v2.0 works, other versions won't start
- even with TWRP v2.0, after did wipe everything and format, when I tried to install a custom ROM, even TWRP froze and reboot the phone
- TWRP is pretty useless, it keeps on froze and when I boot recovery again, TWRP is locked and I have to format everything again, but still don't work.
Someone could tell me what happened to my phone? Any suggestions about what I could to to install something on my phone?
Pls help me, I am completely lost and disperate
You may in deed have a serious hardware problem.
What you can do without opening it up is to try charging it overnight, and see how it works tomorrow.
You have tried everything else you can think of, I assume, like wiping & formatting everything you can in TWRP, and possibly "repairing file system" if there is such an option.
The next thing I would try is opening it up and disconnecting the battery for a while, then connecting it again to see what happens.

Ok, I will listen your tip. Yeah, I have tried everything but nothing. Technically, I bought this phone last december, so it's still covered by warranty, but I have to send it to China, I would avoid that if I can.
I hoped there would be something that I didn't but...nothing.
Thanks anyway dude
