Get the color hex value - Java for Android App Development

I made this simple tool to help designers and developers to grab the color they want
try it
search the play store for
coloro
simple and useful

Looks nice and works pretty well.
There is a bug - before the first time I turned on the flashlight, clicking the color sampler button (bottom right) caused the app to crash.
Also, in the activity that shows the color and its hex value, you have an empty option menu.
Apart from these two little problem, the apps looks nice. Good luck.

{template} TF3D HD manila PSD file

http://rapidshare.com/files/189717709/TF3D_HD_Template.zip
Here you'll find a Photoshop file with basically all screen elements of the TF3D HD manila interface present.
Unless I've missed something all icons/button/etc are present except for the weather section. I've only included the main icons there so you can put your flag on the moon..
If somebody feels like mapping out every raindrop like in this psd file, please let me know so I can update the file
The bmp files of the photo and video sub menu's are present as well.
These will go in the windows directory.
I plan to add the blackstone dialer .. but am not sure it's that much needed.
The main idea was to map out the Manila files.
I've build it from itjes Full HD cab for the X1. As far as I know it should work for all other touch HD manila setups..
import/export
I've used the mode9editor to extract all png's.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3095189&postcount=1
The mode9editor has a batch import/export function.
When you use the layer names in the PSD file you're able to batch import all icons you'll change.
Transparency
Most icons will have either a red pixel line border or at least 2 red pixels at the corners.
This way you can select the alpha channel of the layer, crop your image and have to correct dimensions for the png/qtc file.
All you then need to do is remove the red pixel before saving.
For 99.9% of the images you can do it by a color select unless your new theme will be red
Buttons
All buttons that have a press and rest stage have been linked to each other and put on top of each other. In the corresponding layer you'll notice this soon enough
Tiny pixel files
There are a few images that are 1x1 or 2x2 pixels. These are present and I've tried to make all layers in logic order to be easy to find.
Some pixels are 100% transparent and therefor red which was easier to find
Batch PSD export
There is need to find or create a photoshop action that will:
- select layer
- crop by alpha selection
- remove red pixel
- export by layer name
- repeat this process for all layers
If there's anyone out there that can help me make such an action please do. As I have limited experience in advanced photoshop actions
All suggestions and help (especially with the photoshop actions) are welcome!
With a little help this can be an easy automated template for our own redesigning fetish
Odd. I never had those red lines when extracting the .png files. I used manila editor 0.2. I guess Mode9editor messes it up.

Click to collapse
Hehehe.. I put those there myself
this is the fastest way to incorporate the exact dimensions and icon location within a file
Oh I see.. that's not very convenient now then, is it?
I wouldn't know of an easy way to get rid of them. If you get it done, it's handy though, I've got 140 seperate files, sorted per folder on my PC atm xD

The thought behind is to get a photoshop action to select the whole layer and then 1. make selection by red color & delete selected / 2. select layer, crop, select all, extract 1 pixel, invert and delete selected.
By hand this is allot.. bij when automated it could work.
But true.. in theory it's perfect, in practice i've noticed it's not yet
Since I made a new layer to create the icon I have to find a way to automatically select the corresponding layer that will make the size fit.. but cannot do this without java scripted action.
So untill I meet someone who wants to help and is good at photshop java action it will only be a nice concept
but having the file names in the layers to copy/paste does help me for quick batching.
but I agree.. not yet the fastest methode.
although I personally prefer it over 140 different files to work from, but this is also cuz I render my icons in 3d all at 1 time.

Customizing the Today-screen

I'm not using any panel or TF3D, and have a few objects (messages, calendar, appointments, etc) on my Today screen.
There are 2 things I would like to change though,
1. Is there a way to make the font color black, instead of white? Can't use any bright wallpapers, because the text becomes unreadable.
EDIT: Solution for question 1, use UI Tweaker http://freewareppc.com/utilities/uitweaker.shtml.
2. Is there a way to remove the horizontal lines between the objects?
Help appreciated!
There are allot of programs hints and tips for customising the today screen on this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459241
Thanks Mark, but I've looked through it already.
Thought someone would give me a quick tip to remove the lines on the today screen.
Seach for Removetodaylines.cab
Thanks FellowEn, but there doesn't seem to be such a file. Tried both search types..
Edit: Think I've found a solution:
The registry edit to remove them are: In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today add a new DWord key with name “ HidePluginSeparators ” and value 1 Soft-reset after the edit.
Will try that and report back later
Edit 2: It works!

Try this! (more stuff added)

Ok, by now you probably know HTC's nice text selection tool. To use it, write some words in a HTC application (like the text message composer), then tap-and-hold somewhere in the text. You get one handle to move around, or two if you want to select a precise part.
But there's more. Change "HKLM/Software/HTC/TextSelection/EnableMagnifier" from 0 to 1. Now activate the text selection tool again as described above and try moving the single handle around...
Nice catch. Can be helpful in tight selections. I've been looking through the reg. So much stuff disabled... Why does HTC do this? They could've placed it as an option on SMS menu...
Thanks. Added to tips thread.
Maybe they disable it so we at XDA have something to do until HSPL is released
Some other simple but cool things I discovered:
* You can use the album app to crop pictures. Just pinch-to-zoom until the part you want fills the screen, then tap the screen, tap the icon on the bottom right and choose the second option from the menu. In Dutch it's called 'Schermafbeelding opslaan'. It will save a cropped copy of your pic.
* Here's a registry entry I found: "HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/InternetPush/EnablePushInternet". It's set to 0 by default. I'm not really interested in push internet, so I haven't experimented with this, but it seems you can enable it if you want.
* Sometimes touch scrolling gets in the way of selecting text. If you want to select text, the solution depends on the context, but to start you just tap-and-hold anywhere:
-- In Opera, you can switch text selection on/off in the context menu;
-- In some apps (like while reading an e-mail message) you get a pop-up menu where the first option is 'make selection' ('selectie maken' on my Dutch device);
-- In Word, just before the pop-up menu appears, you see this: '[T]'. As soon as it appears, move your finger and you'll be able to select text!
* If you like the Footprints app but prefer full size pictures to those square 'polaroids', there's an option to save a full sized copy whenever you create a 'Footprint' (Footprints tab -> Menu -> Settings).
* The 'me' entry in the People app stores your 'owner' info. I know this is widely known by now, partly because I've been posting it everywhere, but I still see so many people complaining they can't register their applications (Resco stuff, SKtools)... because the can't find the old owner info icon. I have registered both Resco Explorer and SKtools perfectly fine without ever bringing the owner info icon back.
I haven't ever been able to get the Text Selection sliders to work on a custom rom even after setting the registry value to 1.
This is an awesome feature and I can't understand why it doesn't work.

you know it only works in text messaging, right? (well, some other htc apps too, apparently, but i couldn't name another one i've seen it in)
Yes of course... I'm aware that it only works in the realm of Sense specifically mail and text. I can do the standard selection thing but I just can't seem to get the sliders.
Any ideas?
hmm, well a common mistake I've come across a few times is people not pressing select the first time.
firstly go type some text into a new text message. (not sure where the idea it works in email came from, certainly doesn't on mine.)
ok, press and hold should bring up a cursor and the words "select|select all.
use the single sljder to set the start(or end, whichever) press 'select' nd now a second slider should join the first, enabling you to select.
Thanks for the responses guys, but as it turned out, I didn't realise that Energy ROMs are stripped of the HTC Messaging Module and that seems to be the only place where this 'feature' works.
It's a shame that's it's not available system-wide considering how easy it makes life.
I installed the HTC Messaging Client and voila, it was it there! but that excitement was short lived considering how bad HTC's messaging client is.
hah couldn't agree more. with the magnifier too its great ,, just never gets used.

How do you change the start menu Highlight color

In the start menu in list or grid view is there a reg entrie to change the menu highlight color? not the text highlight but the actual bar as you scroll down. It is blue now and would like it to be red. I am using the 3vo 11/25/09 rom. I want my topbar to stay black and just change the menu highlight color.
Well due to lack of response and my lack of patience it forced me to go digging and I figured it out. Thanks for motivating me.
Great. Good on you.

There may be others that have a similar issue in the future.
You need to edit (on your PC) the theme installed on your PPC.

[SOLVED] Minimalistic Text widgets help

See following post for workaround
I tracked down an old version of the app (2.6.2--extracted from one of the nooter project file zips) and installed it on my NST, hoping to create a simple date-day widget.
I must be daft. I cannot get a widget to display! I can go through the entire creation and customization process. I can "see" the preview result while in the settings section. But nothing appears on the home screen
I tried installing the same app on my little KitKat device and had no issues with the widget appearing on the home screen. This version of the app was surely known to work with the NST or else it would not have been included in the nooter package.
Does anyone have any experience with Minimalistic Test on the NST? I must be missing something. I have no problem adding other widgets.
Workaround
Whew! It's too bad there wasn't any chatter on the forum about working with this app. Maybe something in the newer NST firmwares just makes it mad, but whatever may be the case, here's what I did:
The last version for Eclair is 2.6.3. You can get it straight from the developer here: http://devmil.de/MT/MinimalisticText_2_6_3.apk
I did this on a system running FW 1.2.2 but I'm pretty sure this will apply to 1.2.1 also. Installation goes OK but apparently the file minimaltextprefs*.xml in /data/data/de.devmil.minimalitext/shared_pref is malformed in some way. Things just don't behave the way they should. While I floundered about I ended up installing the app on my little KitKat media player and then copied the minimaltextprefs*.xml file from that device and used it to replace the one on the NST. Voila! There is a number at the end of the file name and you can make the replacement file the same as the original file, but the number does change as you use the app. I have attached a zipped copy of the file I used below.
For me the best use of the widgets is with black text and no background. Unfortunately the opening settings screen of the app is black.... So if you use black text (the default is white) you will see nothing except a box for your widget. However, within the customization section there is a preview pane which lets you see what you've got.
One last--and the most important--thing. Supposedly when you've made changes the "back" button saves these. Not on the NST. Instead, while in the settings section (anywhere except the customization preview pane) if you tap the "menu" button one of the options that pops up at the bottom of the screen is "OK". That is how you save your changes. Using the "save" command at the end of the settings just places things in a file for later reference.
All this for a date-month-day text widget...... But you can do a lot more with the app, so maybe someday.
I want to thank @Devmil for providing the direct link to v. 2.6.3 and also for having patience with me while I tried to figure all this out.
