Customizing the Today-screen - XPERIA X1 General

I'm not using any panel or TF3D, and have a few objects (messages, calendar, appointments, etc) on my Today screen.
There are 2 things I would like to change though,
1. Is there a way to make the font color black, instead of white? Can't use any bright wallpapers, because the text becomes unreadable.
EDIT: Solution for question 1, use UI Tweaker http://freewareppc.com/utilities/uitweaker.shtml.
2. Is there a way to remove the horizontal lines between the objects?
Help appreciated!

There are allot of programs hints and tips for customising the today screen on this thread.

Thanks Mark, but I've looked through it already.
Thought someone would give me a quick tip to remove the lines on the today screen.

Seach for Removetodaylines.cab

Thanks FellowEn, but there doesn't seem to be such a file. Tried both search types..
Edit: Think I've found a solution:
The registry edit to remove them are: In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today add a new DWord key with name “ HidePluginSeparators ” and value 1 Soft-reset after the edit.
Will try that and report back later
Edit 2: It works!

try uninstalling an today applet if you install to many it start to remove some from your list
i'm not really sure why but removing an applet which you dont use often make them come back
there is also a regedit way to doing it but i cant recall it
I had a problem like this when I installed My|Phone.
I fixed it by deleting an item from the list in the registry
here is the path to the registry keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items

Cheers Guys
I found the offending program, it was the MS Theme Generator (trying to design my own skin) ...
Removed that program and all is well, it has re-appeared !
BTW - anyone know what size the background skin should be ? Also - what's the best program to use to 'shrink' a jpeg to the required size ?
Many Thanks
Mark
irfanview is a good free picture viewer and edit (a bit not any photoshop but resizing is ok)
that should let you change the size of your jpg

T-Mobile Vario II Divider Lines on WM5 Today Screen

Hi, does anyone know how to remove the divider line just above the Comm. Manager and Battery icon in the Today screen. It wasn’t there before but just recently it has appeared. It does not disappear no matter what theme I use. I have also tried using a theme editor but that doesnt give me the option i require. So I was wondering is there some sort of registry edit I can use or something?
This is a FAQ, there's a registry hack on the wiki.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry
Please read the wiki and search before posting.
sorry am I missing something? I can't find anything in that link that relates to the divider line. I do not want to remove the icons, just the line that's just above the icons as you can see in the pic.
if you say there is a registry hack for this can you post it please. thanks
I understood you wanted to remove all the tray not only the line, don't know of any registry hack for that, sorry.

Quick way to settings on Today screen

Hi. I'm using cLauncher and I'm wondering if there was a way to get things like phone settings, display settings as an icon setting on the Today screen. Going through menus is a bit slow for frequently used functions. Thanks.
There is a thread somewhere around here that deals with making shortcuts for items on your phones "control panel" I wish I could find it, but it's going to be a bit of a ***** to do so probably. If I do find it, I will let you know.

Click to collapse
This might help.
You can use this cab to create a link to the today settings and then add it to cLaunch. It creates a link to start>settings>personal>today.
In order to link to things such as the backlight control enter \Windows\Backlight.lnk (note lnk is LNK in lower case) into the 'File Path' field within the cLaunch settings. You can also add custom icons as well - search google for suitable 32x32 icons and then convert them to bitmaps. They work a treat.
To find out other useful info about shortcuts check the following posts by vijay555: http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=507575
This link does not appear to be working - use advanced search using the word 'completeness' and the user id vijay555 which will return the required links.
They are very useful and informative. Vijay555 is also a fan of cLaunch from what I gather.
cLaunch is a great piece of freeware! I'd recommend it to anyone!

[SOLVED] Changing Font Color in Enlarged Start Menu

I need some help from the 100 lb brains lurking in this forum. First off, I've tried to research this answer. I've looked for three days and I still haven't found the answer. Hopefully someone can help.
I've successfully installed the theme posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430174&page=1
Everything works great; however, when I enable the "Enlarged Start Menu", the font color for the start menu is black and the background is too.
What I want to do is change the FONT COLOR in the Enlarged Start Menu from black to white. Does anyone know how to do this? I've searched this site and Google, but I've been unsucessful so far. Thanks in advance.
Justin

The solution is actually very simple. Using your favorite registry editor (on your PPC), navigate to:
HKLM\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu
You should see a DWORD there titled: ManiliaCustomText
(If it's not there, create it)
Now for the DWord data, enter the desired color in EITHER decimal OR Hex format (my registry editor allows me to select either). For example, if I wanted the text in the Enlarged Start Menu to be white, I'd enter the following information:
DWord Data (DECIMAL): 16777215
DWord Data (HEX): FFFFFF
Hope this helps....
Justin
Many thnx for the solution!
How do you know the decimal codes?? Where can I find them.. just in case I have to change the font back to black..
Greetz!
cudos to you for this!
btw black has 0 decimal code

hi people, i would like to know what cab do i need to make this menus much smaller? i've found it before.... but i never downloaded it, thanks
You can use Advanced Config to reduce the font size in the menus.
thank you very much
But... I tried it and everytime i change the values, it auto resets when i restart... I'm using spb mobileshell by the way !
Really...strange. I've used spb and it has never fudged with those reg values.
When I changed the values in Advanced Config, I needed to soft reset before the changes would be applied anyway.
You can create a shortcut that applies the reg settings and put it in the Windows\Startup folder. Still that kind of hack should not be necessary. Perhaps you have some other program in Startup that is causing the problem.
you gave me the idea and i just tried... putting the folder on C:
and then i changed the values with the keyboard, it reseted... and stayed that way for a lonnggg time until i took out the battery and turn it on again
then I changed the value by holding the down button and then selected other stuffs and restarted and now it's ok
Thank you very much !!
Uhm...glad I could help, I think,
they should be a setting in the setup to do that.
Go to google, type in "htc small menu", click on the VERY first link you see. Brings you to a thread here at xda.
That's what you were talking about right?
If so then you're welcome .
Also: If you want to easily and fully customize the font for everything on the phone (size and font type), look into downloading something called ING Change Font.
