I know there is a way of removing the icon labels on the lockscreen shortcuts but where is this setting hidden?
Someone please help.
I have added a screenshot to show you what im talking about.
Under the voice search app i would like to remove the words "voice search"
Can anyone help me with this?
so theres really no one that can help me with this ???
Not sure what version of android you are running, but I looked on my international D802 4.4.2 and I didn't see the option to remove the words underneath it. Only options were to remove or add lock-screen shortcuts. If you are rooted you may be able to do something about it, other then that, I would wait for the 2.5 version of Xposed, maybe?

have you tried looking for a different launcher I read launcher pro can do so but that's from the gingerbread days so I'm sure wouldn't want that
Install Xposed Framework and G2 Xposed.
The stock rom will not give you the option to hide them.

G2 Xposed does not have this option. I already have it.

Just wondering if there is any way to get the 4.4.3 dialer on my Note 3. Unfortunately, I'm not rooted and already on 4.4.2 so rooting is out.
I really like that dialer, or even the 4.4.2 AOSP dialer will work. Can one of these be installed without root? I can't stand the TouchWiz Dialer.
Thanks for the help in advance.
No not without root. The dialer app is written to either /system/app or /system/priv-app which would both require root access to modify or replace with another.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Just wondering though, how is it all of the Play Store "Dialer apps" work?
Can't the 4.4.3 AOSP just be configured like that or something?
Thanks.

No well some dialers in the play store require root and some may not and just replace your stock dialer. Well not replace, just will give you the option to choose it. Kinda like how you can have multiple launchers and when you press the home button (assuming you haven't set one as a default) it will ask you which launcher you want to use. The same thing happens in certain situations when you have Skype installed. When you want to dial a phone number from let's say a link in chrome or the default browser, and if you have skype installed, it will ask you which program you wish to use to dial the phone number.
What if I were on 4.4.2 and am rooted? Where can I find the proper files and what would I do to replace them? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi. As in topic subject. Can somebody tell me how to do it? I got rooted Note 3 got installed xposed tried few modules but none of them succesfully remove that damn icon out of the bar. I tried Wanam, GravityBox andSB Icon hider modules but no success. That damn stock icon is still there. I want to remove it and in it place use other one e.g. gravitybox's circle. All i achieved is to have two icons at a same time - stock and the other added by module by thats not what i want to achieve. HELP !

Have you enabled those Xposed modules on Xposed Installer?
Xposed Installer --> Modules: Tick the box and reboot (otherwise module wont be active)

Hi,
Im running CM11 and i have xposed.
Thus far i cant find an 'easy fix' to remove the dark tint from my lock screen.
1. is there one?
2. if i have to manually modify an xml, which is it and where to find it?
I found one other request of the same nature but it was specific to a HTC handset.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers.
EDIT; so i found keyguard.xml in framework-res.apk /res/layout.
Pretty sure thats what i need?
Anyway to modify the apk on the fly or do i need to rebuild it then flash again with modified apk?
Really hoping theres an xposed mod ive missed.
=(

Try GravityBox Xposed module, in the lock screen settings I believe you can set the background opacity.

Hey thanks for the reply.
Got GB installed, tried that setting, didnt have any effect.
Pretty sure i need to edit the keyguard.xml in framework-res.apk but im not very practised in modifying APKs.
I don't like this big text Motorola uses, is it possible to change how they look to how stock android is? I couldn't find anything on xposed modules
You tried Gravitybox? It's been a while since I used xposed.
I know theming works and replaces those (you do mean in the status bar right?) Try flashing a ROM with Layers like cyanogenmod. Different themes will use different icons.
Yeah i fixed it by using a xposed module for moto devices

I don't want that Big Text either. Could you tell me which mod is it?. Thanks.
Hi all.
I tried to google answer and haven't found anything useful.
Is there any chance to remove Google search bar from main screen? I tried to disable app, but after rebooting bar is still there. Just inactive. Read somewhere that it's built into stock launcher. So only way to remove it is to change launcher? No other way with/without root?
Yes, without root you can only use another launcher. I can recommend you Nova Launcher.

Yup, if root, search with root explorer in system, system/priv-app /velvet , then rename velvet ,add .bak, like this velvet.bak or delete. I hope this helps, Saludos.
EDIT: is the only way to eliminate the google search bar that I know.

I did exactly as you said. Rebooted phone. Google app is missing from app list, but still have search bar on home screen. It's just inactive (clicking on it does nothing).

Forgot to mention. I have Oreo 8.0. Tried with Pixel Launcher, but still can't remove it. Will try Xposed method now or will wait for Oreo 8.1 update?
Anyway - thanks for your help
edit: Tried Xposed with "Google search bar destroyer" and "GEL settings" modules. None of them work. So before 8.1 update arrive on our phones I'm going to try other launchers. Starting with Nova.

I tried and failed to remove the google search bar, too... I ended up with Microsoft Launcher and find it works very well for what I want. I have not used Nova launcher for about 10 years I would say so I have no ideas on it now. But you could do worse than MS Launcher.
Don't over complicate things and be stubborn about staying on stock launcher. Nova is a great alternative, and I'm sure there are others out there as well. Apart from solving this particular issue you will have much more control of your home screens and app drawer.
