[Q] roam control activation - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Waiting 4 days for an activation code. No answer on telephone number, no response to emails. Is this app a scam?

Not a scam. I purchased it and use it every bow and then. Took about a week for me.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

One week and no less than 6 attempts to get an activation code and still nothing. Not that it's a lot of money, but buyer beware.

no one able to give me the sim unlock key

3 days ago I got my HD2 from Tmobile (I jumped from At&T to tmo) and I have been trying hard to get the sim unlock but just cannot get it from any of the unlocker services.
I must have tried at least 5 or 6 unlockers and no one can geit it. Yes my IMEI starts with 35777 .. but even some of the unlockers who charge more and claim they can unlock are just refunding the $$$.
Is it my phone or is it with all the new HD2 's
I have never had a problem just calling the carrier and telling them I'm heading out of country and would like the unlock code. Seems to work every time for me and it's free.
its for all the htc phones.. there is a new service for htc unlock codes. its not 100% up and running yet. if your phone was made after a certain date the old services wont work. you just gotta wait.
You don't have to pay for it. Just call T-Mo. I got mine unlocked in 24 hours and I'm on pre-paid, they just ask you for the IMEI and your email. Thats it. it is free
well tmo has this new rule that you have to be subscriber for 45 days before they give you the unlock code. I really have a international trip coming up in the next 10 days. Looks like I might have to threaten them of cancelation(I have 15 days .. buyers remorse, and anyway i have been rethinking my decission about putting three lines in contract)

Tell them that and they will unlock it for you. Go into a store and have the rep call for you. That rule is more of a guide line than an actual rule.
Unlock
Okay if you got the phone with a new contract then will have to wait 40-45 days before they give you the unlock code.
But if you brought the phone for retail then they will email the code to you the next day. I got mine unlocked Easter Sunday
Call 877-453-1304
Try cellunlock.net it cost me 20 dollars and I got it the same day there is a cupon code i will try and get for you normal price is 40 cupon gives you 50% off
i requested my unlock code from tmo a month ago and still havent received my unlock code..said it would be emailed to me within 48-72 hours..pfft..
Like I said use cellunlock.net and use this code for 50% off it works will get the code in a day at the most
Code is berryscoop50, for those interested.
http://www.fastunlocker.com/catalog/c4_p1.html
They just unlocked mine for $15 good service live on skype your phone might be is new batch.
as long ur phone is not report lost the code should be in T mobile database might take couple of day to find it. HTC database can be search within 1 hour.
is this site reliable? legit?

Let me tell you something, it was quick as hell....in less than 30 minutes since i made the purchase, i had my phone unlocked and running...awesome!

Wow tmo customers service is awesome

Just called in to request a port. I must've gotten the best csr on the planet. She was very polite and nice. Took care of my port request quickly. I then questioned about my huge ass first bill. She proceeded to credit me $70 activation fee plus fixed a couple other erroneous charges. Bill dropped from $181 down to $101. I'm very pleased and impressed with Tmobile so far. Came from vzw, those jerks were rude and disrespectful.

Try calling them to see if they will give you the unlock code for your phone.
I know a family member got 3 T-Mobile phones and they gave him emails of all three phones with unlock code and instructions when contacting customer service.
How the hell did you do that? Lol

T-Mobile is is usually pretty good with that stuff. Most of the time the cs is tops.
I had a simalar experience. Had to fight verizon for them to cancel my line. Tmobile has been great!

Thats noting. I got ATT to drop my bill from $209 to $114. Threaten them to cancel and they will cave in
Ill have 3 lines at 35 each for activation. Verizon only charges 35 on primary maybe I'll use that as an argument

You have to have the phone on the account for so many days or prove that you paid outright for it. Then they can go through once you meet all the requirements.
Yes, T-Mo Customer Service is outstanding. You don't need to threaten to leave them for them to take action. Sure there are probably a few bad ones scattered around here and there but you can't blame them for that. After all, we're only human.
My friend called twice yesterday to see if he can extend his contract now 4 months early so that he can buy an S3 and both people said no. I found that quite lame, has anyone been able to extend their contracts early?

It also depends on how you reach out. My experience with AT&T has been that customer service is beyond terrible if you call in, but the employees at the corporate retail stores are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Yes but I was only a few weeks early. 4 months is a long time for a full upgrade so you really can't blame them for that. They will give him an early upgrade but that's about it for now.

I wish the VZW was like that here. All the local stores treat me like I'm wasting their time unless I'm buying something. If I have an issue I just call in now. It really pissed them off when I had the guy on the phone FWD my early upgrade to the store so I could pick it up same day( after the store denied my early upgrade and said it wasn't possible). The guy at the counter threw the phone on the counter and walked away.

My personal dealings with Tmobile CSR have been stellar. They work with you like a human instead of a number.
One time I was trying to save dollars on my phone bill so I was looking around their website. I ended up disabling my family plan's text messages. Got a bill a month later for 600+, I freaked out.. and called. The lady explained how it was binding to the contract when making online changes. Long story short she understood, reset my plan like nothing happened and asked me to watch my clicks
Then I moved to an area with less than strong 4G. Reception and data was spotty anywhere in my new home. I was really considering moving to a different company. I called and they sent me a free signal repeater. I've had better service ever since.
Where their service may be rocky they treat us well. In a society where it's all about product we forget that service is part of the product.

Verizon is terrible at CS until you get to the higher ups. I had a EnV Touch before my current X2 andvi went through 8 phones and they refused to offer me something else when 7 of them were software problem's. My X2 is another hyped up ****ty phone unless you run a rom. A mass Exodus happened on this phone starting with release of GNex. Most everyone filed a BBB complaint and after getting good customer support they let me upgrade early in April almost 11 months after phones release. I know now to go to the nice people at their HQ rather then at the store. Complete idiots work their at mine.
My full upgrade isnt due until September, but they just said on the phone, I can get the S3 for 279 with rebate but the phone is back ordered!

Does the rebate mean u pay $330 up front and get $50 back in mail or is it 279 and then u get 50 back meaning u only pay 230? In in the same situation my full upgrade isn't till first week of Sept

Looking for a service to make VoIP calls and SMS from my N7.

I'd like to find an online service that will allow me to make VoIP calls and to send/receive SMS on my N7 here in Canada. Something that is relatively inexpensive and will give me an online phone number.
I currently have an iPhone that's under contract for about $50 a month but since I bought my N7 I barely use it and would ditch it to save some money.
Any suggestions??

Can comment on the phone side. Not a big SMS user:
Dell Voice can be used in Canada. I tried it and it was ok. Was able to get a number with a local area code for free. They have since spammed me with voice mail messages to my cell phone. I am not using the service.
Our home phone is done through voip.ms. They have been excellent for service and pricing. A phone number is 99/cents a month and you can choose any Cdn area code. I set up cSip Simple and can dial in and out on my home phone number using the Nexus. We pay about +/- $5 month total for our phone (with a number of long distance across the country). I think a good portion of that is for 911 service. Call quality is quite good. You get customizable voice mail, caller id, number blocking/filtering etc.

T Mobile to AT&T?

Like a lot of people, I like to purchase a Samsung S7 Edge and root it when and if it's possible later. I am an AT&T customer, but don't want a phone from them because of the bootloader being locked. I have been told T Mobile does not. Would it be possible to order a phone from T Mobile straight out, and just pop my AT&T sim card in it?
Though on a monthly prepaid plan, I can't seem to order a full price phone from TMO. ;(

Hmm, That sucks.
Just chat with rep on T Mobile site. They will unlock the phone after 30 days of activation. I said that would be a deal breaker. He said customer service might shorten the time if I called them. I highly doubt they would shorten the time.

What you can do is call them and claim you're going out overseas and will need your phone unlocked. Usually they will unlock your phone, from prior experience.
Well I bit the bullet and just signed up for a T Mobile for one month and paid in full for the S7 Edge , got free VR, 6 games and a year of Netflix. I will give T Mobile service a try, if I don,t like it. After the 40 days. I will get it unlocked and put my AT&T card in. If I like it, I will drop At&T with the rest of the family phones. Now, hoping for a root.

new sprint Essential phone already locked?

I ordered a new Essential ph-1 directly from Sprint. It arrived in shrink-wrapped box. Without turning it on, I pop-in a t-mobile sim card. Then I went through the setup using Wifi.
But then it showed "invalid sim card" on the front page of the phone.
Is the phone now come locked to Sprint, or setup using wifi is the problem? Do I have to choose using carrier data to setup to avoid it being locked?
Anyone experience the same issue?

This is correct. Any information you see about paying off the phone and leaving it on the Sprint network for a few days might not be relevant anymore either as Sprint stopped this after they closed their $5/month deal. Not sure how it works with new phones but that's last I heard.

As far as I know, there is no other way around at the moment. I'm still waiting for my 50 days to end.
On the essential unlock: I got mine on 11/24. Wouldnt one think it would be unlocked on the 50th day- 1/12?
Sprint customer service is a little lacking in this area. I paid off iPhones leases on Monday of this week, called on Tuesday to unlock.
Said it would take 2 days. Called on Thursday because we hadn't heard anything. Rep said, "sir, they j-u-st unlocked."
Never got an email. Did get a text Saturday night at 6 pm, four days later.
Are unlocks automatic?

Unlocks happen automatically.
I was able to get in on the Sprint $5 lease deal, I paid it off the first day and after 3 days I checked the phone and it was unlocked. Although it was only for domestic Sim. I'm waiting to see how it works after my first month ends and I've cancelled my account.

The phone is on a lease plan (not paid-off), would I still be able to get it unlocked by Sprint?
Sprint has changed its plan, so now it takes $699 to pay it off (even though it is $6/mo lease for 18months, it still takes $699 to pay it off), so it is not an option to pay it off. I am staying with Sprint service for a while (I have been using Sprint for like 10 years), but I really like my phone unlocked.

I doubt Sprint will unlock it without it being paid off.
You'll probably have to wait out your lease program so you don't get hit with the big pay out fee for paying it off early.

Mine too.
It also won't unlock right now.
I'm almost 30 days in, so no big deal.
Mine is paid off. Waiting for day 51 to cancel service.
I called on day 51 to get the phone unlocked domestically and internationally. They told me it would take 48 hours. That was on Saturday. The phone is still locked. It may take numerous calls and escalation in my case to get this to happen. The domestic unlock is handled differently and separately than the international unlock.

Keep us posted. My 50 days is ending next week!
My 50th day is Friday. Sheez....I have to wait until Tuesday possibly (2 business days)?
Also; I am porting out to Cricket. Isn't there some monkey business where the phone has to be on the Sprint network to receive the unlock?
What happens to someone who leaves sprint on say day 45?! How do they get this unlocked?

Very pissed at the customer services. Placed order on Dec 12, received phone on Dec. 21. Paid it off next day. Received bill today. Found out I have to pay the service between Dec12-21, when I was waiting for my phone. What company does that? Phone is not unlocked till today. How to account 50 days then? From Dec12 or Dec21?
