Going to South Korea global mode work? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In military just got notification that I'm going to South Korea for a year, now I heard this phone is regionally locked but didn't know if anyone knew. I mean worst case scenario I can just use wifi and Skype but a prepaid Sim card wouldn't be bad.

Best model for AT&T and Europe

I use my phone roughly 1/2 year in the USA and roughly 1/2 year in Italy and/or Holland.
Should I get an AT&T or international model?
I'm likely to want to install CM or some other ROM on it so I'm l leaning towards the international model. But will that work with AT&T LTE? Or vice-versa, will the AT&T version work on Italian networks?

Did you ever find an answer for this? I'm wondering the same thing myself. I have an AT&T HTC One (stock, never rooted, and under AT&T contract) that I'll be attempting to use via roaming in Italy soon. I'll let you know what kind of luck I have.
AT&T has told me that the phone should work fine (which I assumed), but they said the same thing with my old HTC OneX when I went to Morocco and Portugal last year and it never worked. FWIW, my GFs SGS3 (on same account as my phone) worked fine. We had ensured that identical options were set by AT&T CSRs to enable international dialing, etc, and the SGS3 and HOX both contained the same radios, so not sure what the problem was. I guess I'll see if it's fixed on the One soon enough.

Which Note 3 is good for travelling overseas?

Didn't realize there was a specific phone forum.. <.< ( posted in general discussion)
I'm planning on going to either Japan or Korea and was wondering which Note 3 will work best. The Verizon Note 3 (Is it true that all of them are factory unlock? I read that it isn't) or the ATT unlocked phone?

USA - Arkansas
I'd say T-Mobile because of the free international data, free Wifi calling back to the US, and $.20 a minute international calls.
So GSM? (ATT/Tmobile). I was asking mainly because I got interviews to work in Japan or Korea and wanted to bring with me my phone (I have a ATT Note 2 on Net10). I wanted to use their cell towers and wanted to see if LTE would work, or which one would work better

VZW Nexus 6P service in Singapore?

Hello all. No idea if I should post this on XDA or somewhere else but here goes. I'm thinking about doing a one or two week workaway in Singapore and I have a Verizon LTE sim in my North-American-bought 64gb Nexus 6P. According to their TravelPass site, I can pay $10 a day on the days I use the service in Singapore and maybe get 3G service if I'm lucky. Any ideas on prepaid sim cards I could buy when in Singapore or feedback on what kind of cellular service to expect? Any and all help is appreciated, thanks.
One of the awesome things about a Nexus 6P is that it's SIM unlocked. If I were you, I'd buy a SIM card from a local carrier, ideally SingTel. Use that while you're in Singapore then just put the Verizon SIM back in when you get home. You won't be able to call or text using your US number, but you'll likely save a bunch of money.

Where are you ordering the international version of S8?

I live in the US but wish to have an international model. Where are the best places to order this from?
Thanks!

Ebay but they're crazy overpriced right now. I ordered from clove uk. It's actually cheaper than the carrier models here. Downside is that we get it a week after it releases here in the states

Yeah, clove seems to be the best option. Wish you could get the pre-order bonus stuff.

Exynos. And yes lte will work on tmobile. Just know wifi calling and volte likely won't work

What about at&t?
WiFi calling should work on the S8 regardless of where bought. I can't guarantee but with the S7 it wasnt a carrier specific model required to get WiFi calling. UK phones are exynos.

The G955F is missing band 30 for AT&T. It's a relatively newer band AT&T is using in cities, so see if your area uses it.
If you do order from Clove in the UK, be aware that the S8 models are NOT considered Pre-Order and they charge your card immediately and their ship date is at least a week later than the US. Ask me how I found out...
I don't know how. But I was able to order the international version unlocked from Samsung UK. They excepted payment and the shipping address is in the US.

Good point. I get 40-80 in my area with band 30 on my OnePlus 3T. I got 20-30 on my mate 9 without band 30 before I sold it.
I live in Norway and just pre-ordered my s8 silver. Total cost (without any lock) was roughly 760 dollars. 5 years warranty. Expected delivery is around 20th of April.

Samsung is very adamant about their phones only being sold in their designated selling region (EG: UK phones sold in the UK). If I were to bet, you'll get an e-mail from Samsung UK canceling your order once they realize they'd be shipping it to the U.S. If for some reason they do ship it to you it won't be usable. All Samsung's EU phones have region lock. A region locked phone has to be used in its selling region (EG: UK) to make a 5 minute voice call using a regional (EG: UK) SIM on a regional network (EG: Vodafone) before it "unlocks" itself. Only after that happens can you use a SIM from outside the phone's selling region. Caveat Emptor.
This is from Clove; Handtec does the same thing...
Since September 2013, Samsung has implemented a 'region lock' on all new stock. Clove Technology only has access to models designed for the “European” region, which covers both UK and mainland Europe. For correct operation, this handset should be activated inside one of these countries with a SIM card issued for use there. The device will then be able to accept SIM cards from outside of these countries.
Activation requires turning the device on for the first time & completing set-up with the SIM installed, then completing at least 5 minutes of voice call(s) with this SIM. Without activation you may still use the device outside of these countries when 'roaming' - using a SIM card from the listed countries.
If this activation procedure is not followed then the device will lock when first attempted to be used with a SIM card from outside of these regions. Local Samsung support may provide a code to unlock such handsets.
IF YOUR CHOSEN DELIVERY COUNTY IS NOT LISTED, CLOVE TECHNOLOGY WILL BREAK THE SEAL ON THIS DEVICE AND ACTIVATE IT. YOU MUST AGREE TO THIS PROCEDURE IN THE CHECKOUT BEFORE THE SALE WILL COMPLETE.

Exynos s10+ does not get 4g in USA on at&t

Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I had the same problem this summer but then it started working. This time it doesn't work. Using an at&t prepaid sim.
Have reset network settings, tried some different apn settings, and put the sim in tray #2. Nothing works still only get H+.
I called at&t and they said my phone is registered as a gsm phone, and does not come up as an S10+.
Does anyone have a solution.
Thanks!

AT&T is like that if you're not using their branded phone you don't get their LTE speeds but just regular 4G. Even the rep says your phone is recognized as a GSM phone, i have the U1 International unlocked s10+ on Verizon and i have LTE+ find someone with tmobile or verizon service try their sim card i'm sure you'll have LTE on their network

AT&T is horrible with BYOD, this is well known.
If you gave AT&T your EMEI number on your account for your current device it will not be recognized. You have to go into AT&T, find the branded S10+ model for AT&T, grab the EMEI off of that one and have them put it onto your account. You can not ever give AT&T the EMEI number from a BYOD, it will not work properly.
This is one of the reasons I left AT&T years ago. And you can forget about using Wifi calling or VoLTE, it's locked only to their devices.
