Hi guys!! I have a question, is it safe to use Xposed framework without using custom recoveries?
I know everywhere they say its safe to make a backup with recoveries but i want to refrain from doing that as I am going to take the OTAs when available in my country (Obviously will uninstall the Xposed framework before OTA (Hoping this will work - any insight on this too is appreciated)).
I am not into changing ROMS and use stock ROM only but want to use Xposed for its great customizations (Modules interested in G2 Xposed/Tweakbox/Gravity Box).
Did anyone ever had a problem using Xposed / Any experiences to share where Xposed messed up the phone completely/partially and had to recover using TWRP or CWM?
Or is it just a "Safe step" to install recoveries and back it up before using xposed?

do not take the ota even if your just rooted it will brick your device
My understanding is that Xposed does not worked with G2's Kitkat right now. The problem is not related to root.
Edit: See this thread.

Once Xposed 2.5 comes out it will work just got to wait

I want to root and keep stock ROM and stock recovery and all.
Basically only want to delete bloat with titanium and use greenify.
Will this trigger Knox? Is it even possible?
no, any rooting currently triggers the knox counter

if u r using greenify donate, the xposed installer has to be version 2.3 beta 1. version 2.2 encountered "cannot write /data/xposed/modules.list" error.
i spent quite some time trouble shooting as the xposed forum thread did not mention the beta version on the opening post.
It may be possible to remove bloatware without root:

Please note, I have NOT tried it, so cannot vouch for its veracity or safety. If anyone can, I'd be grateful.

You should be able to root it yourself. Flash a custom recovery in Odin and use the recovery to install Superuser. Your phone will be stock and rooted. This will give you the ability ot use XPosed modules to customize it in just abotu any way you can think up. All without having to wait for devs to do anything.

Don't know about the custom recovery, but I can confirm that xposed framework works fine. I am using gravitybox and youtube adblocks and some other minor fixes. I am running KitKat 4.4.3, so the firmware is 1.0.3.61a. Not sure about the Lollipop version (which is already out in Russia)

Yotaphone 1 or 2? if it's Yota 1, there is no way to reinstall the firmware. They provide a rar file which cannot even be used to sideload via adb. I had to swap a newly bought phone citing all the wrong reasons since I f*cked up the stock firmware. Still due in receiving the replaced phone.
Temp. rooting with gandalf exploit is possible using framaroot.

Achyut.
Ok maybe i'm missing something basic, but i cant find a way to flash xposed on the (odexed)stock rom?
how is it possible to get xposed working?
is the simplest way to simply flash a rom with support? if so, is there a stock based one? if so, can i dirty flash and get to keep all my data?
or do i need to flash cm or someother such?
yes, im one of THOSE. i like tw. not as much as xposed tho lol
P.S glad to join the s5 club! my first flagship phone out of 6 androids since 2014
There is no Xposed for odex stock based roms. And most likely will never be. You need deodex rom to make it work on stock.
Ruffbuster is correct.....xposed isn't available as standard for stock touchwiz lollipop. There is a modified installer floating around somewhere here on XDA which has had *some* success with LP_TWz......
However, xposed DOES work with KitKat TWz.....
That is one of the reasons I currently refuse to upgrade to LP......Like you, I like my xposed tweaks.....

I'm an xda n00b just trying to get the XHaloFloatingWindow working on my S4.
So far I've rooted my phone and created a backup image (saved on my PC), but now I've got to install the Xposed framework. I'm a bit confused after reading the boards though because the older posts say I have to deodex my ROM first, but rovo89's recent posts don't mention this requirement before linking to the installers.
Please let me know: do I need to deodex before installing the Xposed framework on my Sprint S4 5.0.1?
Thanks!

Yes.
You also need the special TouchWiz xposed version.
Hello, is there a Android 5.0 ROM without many features but compatible with Xposed modules? I am not looking to overclock my Galaxy S4 i9500, I just want some programs to run on my phone, thanks in advance!

All ROMs are compatible with Xposed. Developers don't encourage the use.
I'm not sure how helpful this will be, but there are some unofficial Xposed frameworks that work on odexed systems. I have a stock ROM Note 4 (custom kernel) i.e. odexed, and also have Xposed (I use xprivacy, batterymon, SU, GPS spoofer, Flashify, Adaway, and BusyBox with a terminal so to probe various system peculiarities (PIDs, file handles, etc.)).
I can't remember the link for the Xposed framework my phone currently runs, but it was from XDA forums. Maybe it's worth searching for an unofficial framework for an odexed S4.
