Hello all. I tried to read as much as I could before posting this. Here is how my phone is:
- Rooted
- TWRP
- Custom ROM
Here is the problem:
I wanted to load a different ROM, so I tried to wipe system, cache, data and Dalvik cache. During the wipe process (wiping system), TWRP froze for about 5 minutes. I had no choice but to force the phone off. Now I can't boot the OS (expected), but I can't seem to get into recovery either. I can hold the volume button up and get to the download mode where I could restore the stock OS, but I have a lot of pictures that I want to keep. Is there any way for me to save my stuff from the internal SD?
Right now, my phone boots to the LG logo and just stays there.
You should have let the wipe finish. On early version of twrp it can take 15 minutes to complete.
Hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn it off. Then power and volume down into the lg logo, release them and then hold them both again. This should take you to a factory reset screen, say y especially to the prompts, 2 or 3 of them. And it will take you into twrp

tdevaughn,
Thank you.I did not think it would take that long, but yes, I have learned my lesson now. When I used the volume and power keys, it takes me to the 'factory hard reset screen'. It asks me if I want to permanently erase user data and reset settings. Is this the screen you expected to see? If I confirm that I want to do that, will it take me to recovery, or will it delete all of my stuff?

If you still have a recovery, it'll take you to the recovery.
Success! Thank you both so much!

I downloaded squidly's new rom and then i downloaded a kangerade theme, now know they obviously don't mix. My phone will turn on and act normal and then restart and keep going through a boot loop. Is there anything I can do? Please let me know right away, I'm kind of new to droid 2 since i just switched from a D1 please help.
You will most likely have to SBF. did you do a nandroid before installing the theme?
I do, but I don't know how to sbf, I have nanadroid, but to be honest i probably messed my phone up even more because I did a factory reset (X and power button, search bar.) I get into the android set up screen and Kangerade is STILL on... It does the continuous loop again...

Try these steps first.
Code:
1. Pull your Battery.
2. Replace battery and power on while holding down the X key.
3. Wait for the android triangle to load.
4. Press the Search key (the magnifying glass)
5. Use down arrow and navigate to wipe cache partition and press OK.
6. Use down arrow and navigate to wipe data and press OK.
7. Reboot phone.
If this does not get you out of the bootloop you will need to SBF. Please see this thread:

Thanks, it didn't work, I'll try that thread hopefully I can get it all figured out still a little confused though. Thanks for the help.
Couldn't find a thread with precisely same situation - this morning I left my Iconia with WiFi off on standby with plenty of battery left (70ish %), only to just find it powered off. Now when I try to power it on, it stays in the Android boot animation and doesn't go anywhere from there.
And like I said in the title, it isn't rooted or in any other way hacked, so this is really weird. I think a factory reset would make it work, maybe, but if anyone has any other ideas I'd love to hear them before resorting to wiping.
Also I have no idea how to do a factory reset without CWM. Long press reset button doesn't seem to work?
Hold Volume Down while turning Power On?
Nope...it tries to run update.zip

A simple method for wiping is described in this thread.
Alternatively you can connect an USB keyboard, boot to recovery (vol-down + power) and press HOME on the keyboard. This will open a menu where you can select factory reset.
It got stuck at "Erasing cache" but I just shut it down and rebooted, now it started. Thanks a lot. Somehow I think I'm going to root it now and put CWM so I won't have to lose all my data because STOCK ROM crashes for some weird reason and I don't have a backup.
in my opinion u should just go ask for replacement....
Posting for a friend here. Running the Verizon note 3 on what I assume is the most up to date stock software.
Basically he informed me that he wiped cache from recovery because his phone "was having issues" after he rebooted his home screen pin unlock is saying he entered the wrong pin. Is there any way short of a factory reset that will fix this. Thanks for your help

We'd need a bit more info but here goes.
If he's pure stock they can try going into download mode and doing a hard reset. Turn off phone and follow these steps.
1) Press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time. For about 5 to 8 seconds, the phone will reload.
2) Release all buttons as soon as you see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo.
3) In the Android system recovery mode, use the volume rocker to highlight wipe data/factory reset, and then press the Power button to select.
4) Select Yes — delete all user data
5) Next, select reboot system now.
He'll have to redo his apps and stuff all over again but he'll be into his phone.
If he is rooted and running a custom rom just reboot and hit safestrap recovery button on start up and reflash rom. You are assuming he on just stock software but we aren't 100% sure.

I stated that he was running stock. He is trying to find a way to do this without wiping data as he has information he doesn't have backed up that he doesn't want to loose
Thanks

I don't know what else he can do other than hard resetting the phone. Did he save it to his sd card or internal storage? If it's on his sd card he's fine. If it's on his internal storage I don't know what else to do. I don't think there's any software for that as it's his phone but bypassing the pin lock any other way might be considered phone piracy and I doubt the xda governing bodies will let that be posted here even if something existed. There was some software for the s3 that let you put your imei number back on your phone if you lost it flashing roms but xda had to not let it be posted here as it could have been used to activate a stolen phone. I don't know what else to do to help. He may have to bite the bullet on this one unless someone else knows something I don't.

So I just finished unrooting my device via kingoroot (I've done it a 3 times and they were all fine) and I just hold my power button to restart device. However, it never stops restarting. The animation of the logo is still playing with blue sparkles coming in and out.
I took the battery out and and put it back in. I powered it by pressing the power button, home button, and volume up button and I wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset, and then i reboot system, but I'm still stuck in logo animation still going on. Any help? (Also, please use simple everyday language because I'm kind of a tech noob so I won't understand if you're using abbreviations/unfamilliar terms, first time posting here)

Hi,
It may be possible that something got corrupted in the process of unrooting. You will have to flash your firmware in ODIN to get your device working again.
Saber.
Okay so I'm in a bit of a bind, I've been running NSS 6.5 for many months and today I decided to factory reset my phone so I can hand it over to my son. Without thinking, I factory reset from the settings menu and it took me to recovery mode. I immediately tried rebooting the system only to be forced back into recovery. I factory reset from recovery and rebooted and was forced back into recovery. I reflashed the ROM at that point, and rebooted and was forced back into recovery. I'm in a real bind here and I haven't been able to figure out how to get out of this from searching around. I'm really hoping somebody can come through for me here, I would really appreciate the help! Thank you!

Turn off the phone completely. Power on while holding volume and power. Once the lg logo shows let go of the power and press it back down. It should give you the factory reset option. Select yes yes (it won't format just take you to twrp. Once you're in twrp press system (I think that's what it's called - bottom right option). Then select reboot.
